High latency between session and session step !

Hi everyone,
one Operator's picture link to describe :
http://www.glowfoto.com/static_image/24-025726L/3954/png/09/2010/img6/glowfoto
When you look at session 18 INT_520_T_DWH_ME...., it begins at 11:28:10. Then when you look at it's first step 65 it starts at 11:29:18.
Do you have any idea why we get some much latency between the session and the first session step ? Almost 70 seconds waiting (or doing something else maybe ?)
Thanks in advance
Pierre-Henri

hi there was a problem in the Manchester area earlier today but that is now resolved
the first hop to your home hub is very high typically <1 not 305 may be worth trying to check if your network card drivers are up to date also try if you can another cable also try another port on your hub just as some extra suggestions

Does this suggest a problem with the router/filter itself or could it also be a fault on BTs end?

  • Differences between cookies and sessions

    Hi there,
I want to learn the differences between sessions and cookies in PHP.Please help me.
Please let me know if there any video demonstrations that explain sessions and cookies.
    Thanks in advance.

Cookies and server side sessions are related in that they are both ways to persist data. This is required because of the fact that http is a stateless protocol, meaning that each request and response are independent transactions. Cookies are stored on the client. You might use them to store the contents of a shopping cart, or a user login id for a particular site. Or you could store a setting so that the user is automatically logged in, similar to what occurs here in the adobe site / forums. You can set various options for when cookies expire. Cookies that persist when the browser is closed are store in files, otherwise they could be store in memory only. Cookies can be created using either client or server side code.
Server side sessions are created on the server with a server side scripting language. A session id is generated and stored as a token on the client (in an in memory cookie) so that the server can track requests from the same originating client. Session variables are ways to store data related to the session on the server. Sessions use server resources which is why you should only use them when necessary and destroy them when done. When the session is destroyed, the session variables are gone so if you want to keep them for later you can store them in a database or store them in a cookie.

  • What is different between connection and session parameters of dispatcher

I can not find any info about the difference.
I think "connection" is the connection between a dispatcher and a client, and "session" means the connection between a dispatcher and an instance.
but I am not sure about it. am I right?
there is another parameter named pool, it is used for what?
the pool for connections(i.e. "session") between a dispatcher and an instance?

After authentatication username/password database session starts whereas how user request will be handel it will be defined by conection.Either dedicated or shared Server. If U have not enough resource to handle user request and also you have application that is not using very long runing query then think to use shared server conection and if U have enough resource and very long runing query or transaction think about Dedicated Server. Both are different "SESSION" and connection.Conection determine hove request will be handled either by sharing resources(session memory, run time sql, bind variable) and
process through (DSPATCHER and SHARED SERVER ) process or every user will have their own dedicated resources or Server process.
Both in both cases after user/password session get created .it is the conection from client to database.

  • High Latency to midwest and east coast servers

    Hello,
Over the last week I have been experiencing excessively high latency to several online gaming and web sites. The problem appears to be a peering issue between verizon.net and att.net or possibly alter.net (not sure who owns them?). Here are several trace routes that illustrate the problem. Calling verizon support has got me no where so far as well as contacting the gaming sites since this looks to them like an ISP issue.

  • Difference Between connect and connector steps

    Hi All,
What is the difference between connect step and connector step in a workflow?
    Thanks
    Narendra

    Hi Narendra,
Connect: Connects the two steps. These two steps are on the same page of MS visio.
Connector: Connects the two steps of WF if these two steps are on different pages of MS visio, as in case of a huge WF design you can use multiple pages of visio. This is why we have only one point of connection at this icon. It automatically connects the step connected to it to the first step on the next page.
    Hope this is clear.

    Dheeraj.

  • What is the relationship between Process and Session parameter in Oracle

    Hi All
    I ran into a problem
"ORA-00020: maximum number of processes (150) exceeded " on the other day and I want to fix this temporary by increase the process by some number like 200.
Someone suggesting the syntax to fix my problem then the database must restart after running this command.
    alter system set processes=200 scope=spfile;
However, I check the v$Paramenter view I see 2 values I believe they go together are
    Processes: 150
    Sessions:170.
    Here are my questions:
    1. "alter system set processes=200 scope=spfile;" is the correct way to increase the max Processes?
    2. Do I have change the number of Sessions after changing the number of Processes?
    3. Is there other way to increase the processes number without reboot the Oracle database?
    Regards,
    Jdang

According to the Oracle version# Reference manual which documents the database parameters sessions is set to 1.1 * process + 5 using the 10gR2 version.
Basically an Oracle process cooresponds to an OS process that performs the actual work for the session.
An Oracle session is a collection of memory structure entries that identifies and keeps track of what is being done for a client of the Oracle database.
Sometimes a single background process will support multiple sessions even in dedicated server mode such as when recursive SQL is performed to support the DML statement being done in the session.
PS - you should consider increasing processes first and only increase sessions if you still have an issue.

  • Latency between FEX and Nexus 9300

Does anyone know or tested latency from port to port on a Nexus FEX? We are seeing some weird/strange results to MTU above 1500. Everything has been configured for jumbo (9216). The FEX is a N2K-C2232PP-10GE and its attached to a Nexus9000 C9396PX 1/10G Module.
Port to Port Layer 2 on the FEX we are seeing around 76us
Traffic from the traffic generator connected to a FEX, to the traffic generator on the Nexus 9300, we are seeing around 74us
Traffic from the traffic generator connected to the Nexus 9300, to the traffic generator on the FEX, we are seeing around 2us.
Any ideas why the latency seems high in one direction? Same test on the 9300 only is fine also.

    Ahmed,
Sorry for taking this long to get back to you.
Nexus 1000v is a virtualized switch and as such will require that any traffic coming in or leaving the VM will first need to pass through the virtualization layer, therefore causing a minimum delay that for some applications (VMs) can be catastrophic enough that may mean too much delay.
With VM-FEX you gain the option to bypass the virtualization layer with for example "Pass-Through" mode where the vmnics are really assigned and managed by the OS, minimizing the delay and making the VMs look as if they were directly attached, also, this offloads CPU workload in the mean time, optimizing the host/VM's performance.
The need for one or the other will be defined as always by the needs your organization/business has.
    Benefits of VM-FEX (from cisco.com):
Simplified operations: Eliminates the need for a separate, virtual networking infrastructure
Improved network security: Contains VLAN proliferation
Optimized network utilization: Reduces broadcast domains
Enhanced application performance: Offloads virtual  machine switching from host CPU to parent switch application-specific  integrated circuits (ASICs)
Benefits of Nexus 1000v here on another post from Rob Burns:

  • Latency between audio and keyboard commands (10.9 and 10.10)

Apologies for the length of this. Don't pay too much attention to the precise details of my setup, because we're dealing with practically identical systems, where the problem occurs depending on the version of OSX.
    I'm on a 2010 Mac Pro, 2.66GHz 12-core, 32GB RAM. Audio via Firewire into a MOTU UltraLite mk1
Basically, I use a program called Transcribe!, which is for analysing music. You can slow down audio files, loop sections, etc, but most importantly it displays a waveform where you can add markers to show where the beats, measures and sections are (for easier navigation). You do this by tapping on the keyboard... B to enter a beat, etc.
In both Mavericks and Yosemite, something is going wrong.
If I simply play the file, the waveform scrolls by smoothly, and I can see that the "current position" indicator is accurately reflecting what I'm hearing (a big peak for a cymbal crash, etc). But if I then start tapping the beats on the keyboard, the waveform starts to scroll jerkily and the beat markers land about 130 milliseconds late... that's pretty disastrous when you're trying to accurately analyse the music.
Obviously a lot of variables, but here's the weird thing. THIS WORKS PERFECTLY IN MOUNTAIN LION (on the same computer). Everything is on the same computer, with the same peripherals. The only difference is the OSX version and the hard drive it's installed on... but I've tried this on two different drives (one SSD, one HDD) and with both 10.9 and 10.10.
(And another weird thing - I can't recreate the problem on my MBPr. It seems to be restricted to 10.9 and 10.10 on this Mac Pro)
I can't see anything meaningful in Console or Activity Monitor, and my basic System Preferences are all the same. The actual processing of audio and video is fine... this seems to be some kind of issue with keyboard control. Any suggestions gratefully received.

A couple of little possibilities were bugging me.
Works fine on MBP, but not on Mac Pro... could be a dodgy keyboard? Nope, plugged same keyboard into MBP and it's fine.
Could be an actual fault on this particular Mac Pro, that somehow only manifests itself in Mavericks/Yosemite? Nope, plugged in my older (2008) Mac Pro and the same thing happened. Latency with 10.9 and 10.10, but not on earlier versions of OSX.
    Really don't get this!

  • Data Guard Archive Log Latency Between Primary and Physical Standby

How can I get the time it takes (latency) for the primary instance to get an archive log over to the physical standby instance and get it "archived" and "applied". I have been looking at the V$ARCHIVED_LOG view on each side but the COLUMN "COMPLETION_TIME" always shows a date "MM/DD/YY" and no timestamp. I thought the DATE datatype include data and time. Any ideas on how I can get the latency info I'm looking for?
    Thanks
    Steve

the COLUMN "COMPLETION_TIME" always shows a date "MM/DD/YY"
and no timestamp. Did you try using TO_CHAR ? e.g.
    to_char(completion_time,'dd/mm/yyyy hh24:mi:ss')

  • Conflict between local and global step types

I'm making some changfes in some previous programmed Step Types and I'm having conflicts. Is it posible to make global Step Types? I have some sequences that have another step type with the same name as the global and it appears the Type Conflict Dialog box. I'd like to use in all my sequences always global Step Types. Can I do this with TestStand 2.0.1?

    Hi again,
For both Step Types A and B, I've inserted an "Edit SubStep" (inside Tab Substeps in the Step Type Properties). Those associated programs are written in LV. That means that when I insert one of my steps types in a sequence, if I click the right bottom, I have the possibility to make changes in this Edit VI and save those parameters in TestStand. I attach you the two Step Types that have the conflict, maybe you can see the problem. Have a nice weekend!

  • Difference in latency between USB and FW interfaces?

So I bought Logic Studio the other day, after thinking about it for a while. Seems great so far!
I am planning to use Mainstage for several instruments, vocals etc., and I am about to go buy an audio interface. Originally thinking about the m-audio ProFire 2626 (Firewire), I discovered that the Fast Track Ultra 8R (USB) has more (but probably lesser quality) Mic-preamps / instrument inputs out of the box. So, I'm wondering, will I experience more latency within Mainstage with a USB-interface compared to a FW-interface?

best to try several. For Midi I use Amt8's with my Mini and G5, and go direct from
a USB kybd controller (M Audio Keystation 88) with my Powerbook. Never had latency
except with an Amt4 and the Powerbook. For audio, I use a Firepod fp10 or a Metric Halo2882.
Never had latency issues. Never tried Midi and Audio on the same device...

  • Invalid session cookie on High latency wan connections

    Hello,
I've had users at a remote site complaining that they are getting disconnected regularly from the SGD server here and are then unable to reconnect for several minutes. The connection is a GRE tunnel over the between sites with several firewalls and proxies in between. As well, the clients are behind a NAT. This is a standalone server SGD 4.41. As a test, I set up an SGD server at the remote location and logged into it. I've been disconnected twice at random intervals with a popup dialog that says "Invalid connection Cookie" Please contact your Administrator. In the webtop browser window I attempted a refresh which resulted in a Session Expired message in the webtop message window. I login again and I see my application session still there but upon attempting to connect to it I receive the following:
    Web Service Request Failed
The following fault was returned from the server
    Code Client.InvalidSessionCookie
    String <cookie info etc...> for admin:runCommand
In a subsequent incident I received a popup with the message: The session already has a Secure Global Desktop Client Connection
Once this popped up my webtop session was hung and I could not log back in to the SGD server until I closed my browser and restarted it.
The connection has high latency 365+ ms and is notoriously unstable. Again there are multiple firewalls and proxies between the sites that I have no access to.
    Error logs show the following:

    Hi DalamarUK83,
"I have seen posts about disabling VMQ on the host/guest servers as there may be an issue with this model - this has had no effect at all, the issue persists after changing VMQ and restarting both the guest and the host OS."
Did you disable the feature in advanced settings of physical NICs ?
I would suggest to re-create virtual switch after disabling VMQ .
What is the make of that NIC ?
    Best Regards
    Elton Ji

  • High latency causing problems... and frustration w...

I have a femtocell that requires the latency on any single hop on the internet to be less than 240ms, any longer than this and it drops my phone call. On contacting the supplier of the femtocell, they asked me to use Traceroute to see how long the path to a server was (I used Google.com) and many of the hops were over 240ms, some as long as 4922ms.
On scanning this forum, there are other users out there (mostly gamers) who are suffering from latency problems. Has anyone had any success resolving the problem? I can send copies of the Traceroute outputs that clearly show high latency between routers with addresses such as interconnect2-gig1-0.manchester.fixed.bt.net, core2-pos0-6-1-0.ealing.ukcore.bt.net and core4te-0-7-0-0.telehouse.ukcore.bt.net, to anyone that may be able to help.
The best I've so far had from BT is that:
    - It's a problem with the femtocell supplier: no, the supplier requested from ISPs their longest expected latency prior to releasing the femtocell and set the timeout to be equal to this
    - It's a problem with my Mac mail: the fact that I use a Mac has absolutely nothing to do with network latency
    - There's interference between my mobile phone and my wireless: this isn't the case (I'm a wireless communications engineer by background) and, if it was, almost no-one would be able to use mobile phones given the number of wireless access points in homes and offices.
Every time I get a call from the call centre it's someone different, who doesn't understand the problem, doesn't know what a femtocell is and hasn't read the notes which clearly state that I want to be called on my mobile, not on my home phone. It's looking like my best option may be to try to find another ISP who doesn't have this problem.

I think you have the result of what is maybe a 2 fold issue.
Femtocell technology is still a relatively new technology as you;ll  know from your job.
If you think about the security issues of running a femtocell, that;s to say what it actually has to fulfil,
Security for femtocell networks spans several distinct requirements. The service provider must authenticate users as they arrive on the network. The RF link between the handset and the femtocell must be secured for both user and control plane traffic. And lastly, the mobile network traffic must be placed into a virtual private network as it traverses the wired ISP network to ensure that the traffic is protected while transiting this public network and only authorized users can forward traffic to the mobile operator's network.
There is however one very important element of femtocell security which makes the implementation significantly more complex. This relates to latency as you say, which must be carefully managed especially for applications such as VoIP/SIP. Compounding this challenge is the unknown nature of the latency across the ISP network, which has resulted in service providers requiring latency in the femtocell to be minimized, as you say.
If you add to that the fact that the BT broadband system is based on an algorithm packet handled system to ensure data quality across maybe noisy telephone lines, it all compounds to add to the problems of the running of the femtocell.
In other words if you have a highly error corrected and interleaved broadband line, it's not going to help the femtocell out by adding additional latency to what is already a fairly complicated situation where data handling is concerned....
