High-pitched hiss at the beginning of p

Hi,
I recently bought a Zen Micro. Everytime I press the play/pause button (or if a skip forward/backward) to start playing a song, I hear a whine hiss for about seven seconds on the top of the beginning of the song. I noticed also, when I am using other functions while playing, the same hiss appears. It's not as loud as the song volume but since I listen mainly to classical music I am hearing the hiss once in a while on silent parts of the music.
Is this normal? Anyone noticed this? Or is just my player?
Thanks

What you may be hearing is the amplified voltage used to write the song into RAM so as not to use the HD all the time during playback.
As to why you hear it ... I have used quite a lot of different earphones with the ZM, from the really cheap to the expensi've, and have not witnessed this.
I would say that if you do hear a higher voltage converted to sound output, then the conduct line for the sound inside the ZM is not isolated correctly somewhere.
Let me tell you why I think this: I recently installed a new lamp in my room, and did that quite amateurishly. After having finished, I noticed that my speakers would play up when I switched it on. I isolated all the bits of the cable that I had cut or merged to get it to the right length, and the crackling was gone. You have, in all probability, some lamp in the house that will make, e.g., a radio act up if you connect to a power outlet directly connected to the one you have the lamp in.
Cheers,
Jan.

  • High pitch hissing sound from 970A-G46 motherboard with AMD FX 8 core processor

I am getting high pitch hissing sound from 970A-G46 motherboard with AMD FX 8 core processor.
Sound is coming from some place near CPU area.
I tried changing Core C 6 State in BIOS from Enabled to Disabled to fix this issue.
    I also followed steps in following link, w w w . tomshardware.com/forum/292915-30-high-pitched-noise-coming-area
    No luck with above changes.
I heard this is a common problem with MSI motherboards. Is there any fix for this issue.

That is surely no typical problem of MSI mainboards. In fact that is very rare if it is the board.
Tke the board out of case on a non conductive surface with nothing else connected but but mainboard, ram, psu, cpu and vga. Try it again after clearing CMOS (>>Clear CMOS Guide<<)
If you are then 100% sure that it is the board this could be a defect as MSI mainbaords normally don't cause coil whine and I haven't heard that about 970A-G46 so far
I tried clearing CMOS by replacing jumper and loading factory defaults. Still high pitch sound is coming intermittently. As my 30 day period is over with Frys Electronics, How easy to get a replacement board from MSI. Does anyone know the steps?

  • 2011 MBP 17" 2.3 GHz - High pitch hissing sound from left speaker

When I transfer large amounts of data (wifi and ethernet) I get a high pitch hissing sound from the left speaker. When the transfer is done, the hissing stops.
Is anyone else experiencing this and is there anything I can do to stop it?
When it occurred: I was transferring data from my old MBP to my new 2011 MBP first via WiFi, then by Ethernet (much faster . My old (2007) MBP had not hissing what so ever, by my new MBP was rather loud. I'm very happy it's only when using the network.

I get this sound every time I download, WiFi or Ethernet it dosen't matter the sound is the same. I can't guarantee that it's from the speaker, I have an old Netgear switch that sounds the same when I use it (just to clarify: I'm not using that switch anymore or ever have with this MBP)
So it could be some electrical sound (I'm not a hardware engineer) just a guess.

  • Is anyone else experiencing high frequency tone at the beginning of "Katy Perry: Part of Me" Trailer?

I was watching trailers on my Apple TV 2nd Gen, when my ears were viciously assaulted by a terribly unpleasant high-pitch tone. This occured at the beginning of the trailer for "Katy Perry: Part of Me". I tried other trailers and the tone was not repeated, but every time I watched that trailer through my Apple TV, the tone persisted, or rather, every time I selected that trailer through the AppleTV-Movies-Trailers. When I streamed the trailer from my iPhone, the tone was not present, nor was it present in the version watched from my MBA. I am curious if anyone else can duplicate this problem.

Yes it is the correct workflow, I've done it before.
I found a workaround: instead of transcode the clips I digitized from 29.97 to 23.98 first, I create the merged clips while the video is still the same frame rate than the audio (29.97). Then I apply the "cinema tools reverse telecine" on the merged clip.
This merge doesn't present the problem I had before. It is a bit much more complicated than the other way, because the transcoded merge is not always sync to the frame.
Does anyone had experienced the same problem than me with the 6.0.2 update?

  • Constant high pitched nosie from the top left corner

My macbook is only 3 weeks old and I keep getting this high pitched noise coming from the top left corner. It's really annoying. Anyone has the same problem?

Yes My unibody 2.4 MacBook is intermittently having the same annoying SQUEALING issue. I can never replicate the noise it comes and goes as it pleases. It seems to be loudest under the upper left hand corner of the key board. After pulling a hand full of hair out I decided to investigate the issue. The volume level of the squeal stays the same, however the pitch of the squeal changes when you raise and lower the brightness setting.
Is this common? The squealing noise will "get to you" like fingernails on a chalk board. HELP
Is any one else having this issue?
    Thanks,

  • During playback all im getting is high pitched sqeeks with the beat, cant hear anything else, sound on my pc is fine tho just itunes, ideas??

playback is really high pitched, just squeeking, hard to explain but i only have this problem with itunes, sound on pc is fine, its happened since i updated couple days ago, tried reinstalling itunes etc, no joy, even tried repairing it but its not worked,

Thanks Zipb - yes have done this now after a call to MOTU.
Never done it before in 3 years of using it daily! apparently you need to change the opticals to ADAT and it resets!!!! Dont ask me why!?!

  • [MSI 760GM-P23 (FX)]High Pitched Noise near the CPU or from the CPU itself?

I just built this rig 3 weeks ago and I decided to update my BIOS because it's not compatible with Spec Ops: The Line, the game worked but the mobo/cpu started making these high pitched noise. I'm pretty sure it's not coming from the PSU because it at the bottom. The sound is not consistent
but it's really annoying when I hear it, do I need replace it or is there a way to get rid of it?
    Specs:
    AMD FX-6 6100 Black Edition 6 Core 3.3Ghz
    MSI 760GM-P23 (FX)
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro rev 2
    Crucial 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1333Mhz Ballistix Sport
PowerColor HD 7770 GHz Edition 1GB GDDR
Samsung HD103SJ Spinpoint F3 1TB Hard Drive SATAII
    CIT 500w Power supply

In most cases such noises are the effect of resonance caused by a PSU that does not provide clean power (not able to properly filter the noise in the signals, especially under rapidly changing power demand conditions).

  • Sound, sometimes a sizzle, simetimes a high pitch from under the "tab" key

I am mainly just curious here. I would like to know the sound is that comes from under the "tab" and "caps lock" keys. It can be a constant ptich or sometimes of a fuzz/sizzle/static quality.
Most of the time the high ptich will be present with micro-second spaces of silence ever 1 or 2 seconds. Then after a while the pitch will cut out leaving the staticy sound.
The sound is not really that bothersome in a totaly silent room but I would like to know what part of my MB makes this sound anyway.

I also have this problem, except I find it extrememly annoying, I only noticed it a few days ago.
Remember the whining issues with the MBPs? One of the workarounds was to engage the built in camera in some way. Opening photobooth stops the sound. Which means it obviously isn't a nesacity.
I am going to need to phone up apple support. This MacBook has been nothing but trouble for me.

  • My iPod touch (3rd gen) isn't putting out sound other than static and high pitched noises through the tv hookup, the built in speakers, and headphones. Can anyone tell me what's wrong and how to fix it?

Everything on my iPod touch (3rd gen) works just fine except the audio out put.

Try #2 and #3 in link below. If neither work, you most likely have a hardware issue. Contact Apple or a third-party service center.

  • T440s: Hissing, high pitched sound

    Hi,
Some days ago I got my T440s equipped with a 256GB SSD, 8GB RAM and NVidia GPU. Unfortunately after running for some time (> 30min) a high pitched, hissing noise starts that's getting louder and louder the longer I've got the machine running to the extent that it gets very disturbing to say the least
The noise is coming approx. from the area of the trackpoint - and not, it's *not* the fan.
In the lenovo forums I've read some posts about "CPU whine" that according to the sound samples supplied with some posts sounds exactly like the problem I'm experiencing.
    So here are my questions:
Anyone else having bought a T440s recently who's experiencing this problem?
Is there any known cure against this that solves the problem once and for all?
Any FRU parts that can be replaced?
Thanks much in advance for your help,
    -ejleno

    Hi,
As mentioned in my previous posting I did the checks as per the KB article:
CPU power management in BIOS OFF: no whining
CPU power management in BIOS OFF + USB Hub OFF: no whining
CPU power management in BIOS ON + USB Hub OFF: whining
In summary: as soon as I turn off CPU power management in BIOS the whining stops, independent of whether USB Hub is on or off.
So as a net result it definitely seems to be the "CPU whining" problem.
Which part should be replaced in the T440s in order to get rid of this whining problem once and for all? (Motherboard, CPU,...???)
Reason I'm asking: I'd like to point Lenovo service into the right direction in order for them to replace the correct part, as opposed to trying all sorts of things starting from power supply etc.
Thanks much in advance for your help,
    -ejleno
Since my T440s is still under warranty (got in in October 2014) I think I should contact Lenovo service, right?
Should I point lenovo service to this discussion in the Lenovo forums?

  • Since Yosemite upgrade, high pitch noise creating case vibration on MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2009) (on watching the keynote online)

    Hi,
Great work on Yosemite, great new design as well.
Several problems since the Yosemite upgrade though :
        - When playing high pitch noise (watching the keynote for example), the speakers make the case around it vibrate. This was not happening under Mavericks and previous OSXs.
        - This page (post editing) does not allow the right click (works everywhere else as far as I'm aware).
        - when changing the volume, I have now the noise feedback when clicking on shift+volume up/down and no sound when clicking on volume up/down on my keyboard (was the inverse before).
        - The keyboard light was stuck in off, had to restart the computer.
More general problems (covering the last OSX since introduction of 10.9) :
        - lack of possibility of choosing for a 3x3 set of desktops as it was before (the new mission control only allow us to have a horizontal set of several desktops)
        - Notifications cannot be turned off automatically when being in full screen. (only options for auto turn off given are "display is sleeping" oO and when "mirroring on another display" -> meh, would have prefer when having an app in full screen)
    System :
    MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2009)
    Model Identifier: MacBookPro5,3
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed: 2.66 GHz
    Memory: 8 GB
    Bus Speed: 1.07 GHz
    Boot ROM Version: MBP53.00AC.B03
    SMC Version (system): 1.48f2

Thanks for your lengthy reminder dude, I have a similar Mac with yours. I suspect its a software fault because it happens after I upgraded to Lion, 10.7.2.

  • Certain iTunes "matched" albums produce high pitched whine after downloading the "matched" version?

I have been begun using iTunes Match and I have encoutered a problem.  After importing two of my "Stargate SG1" soundtrack CDs (http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/stargate-sg-1-soundtrack-from/id28057422 and also http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/best-stargate-sg-1-soundtrack/id285158287), a very noticeable high pitched whine is heard during playback.  This is not a problem with my macbook pro as the downloaded file on my iPhone makes the same noise.  What is up with these tracks? Is there something I can do to fix it? These copies that produce the high pitched whine were the files directly downloaded after the match (so I could enjoy the higher bit rate). What's going on?

I called Apple today to get my 24.99 back! This has been the worst exprience I have ever had. At first I was excited that almost all my songs were matched. I figured I would be able to upgrade the 128 to 256. YEAH OK!!!
What it did was give me all radio versions of my hip hop music not to mention stuff like korn. I couldn't handle it anymore. I decided that I would feel a whole lot better ripping them all over again at 256 myself

  • All-In-One IdeaCentre C440, high pitch sound

I have a problem with my Desktop PC All-In-One Lenovo IdeaCentre C440, machine type: 10104, configuration number: 57322047. I bought this computer last week ago and from the beginning is present a high pitch sound. The high pitch sound is more evident when I don't use the PC (on Windows desktop for example or when I navigate on the Internet). I noticed that this high pitch sound disappear if I play a game (I set the sound off to confirm this) and come back in desktop Windows mode. I noticed also that this high pitch sound is lower or disappear if I copy (transfer) large files on my home network from one computer to another.
Is a solution for this situation ? Thank you.

Yesterday I've been with my computer to a service nearby. The guy from there told me that he doesn't have what to do and that probably in time the sound will just become worst and worst.
Unfortunately lenovo it's a big dissapointment.

  • Hiss from the speakers?

Hi everyone. I have this new penryn 15" mbp, and i deeply love it!
But I hear a very high pitched hiss coming from the speakers (i think) whenever i am about to hear some noise from the notebook.
for example when i turn on or off the volume, i hear the volume quack and then the hiss starts, and goes away after about 20 seconds. or when i play some song in itunes, it starts immediately and persists while the song is playing.
if i plug some external speaker jack in the headphones port, the hiss coming from the internal speakers stops immediately and i don't think there is any hiss coming from the external speakers, but it might be because they are not very high quality.
This hiss is very high pitched but the volume pretty low so my mother can't even hear it. But i definitely hear it (and i swear i'm not a dog ) and it gives me such a strong headache that i must plug something in the headphones port to make it stop.
And there is a funny thing too.
I used skype perfectly since i received the macbook (one week).
Yesterday, i was using internal speakers, and while i was able to hear every sound, i couldn't hear the caller's voice.
of course i thought it was a caller's problem.. but it wasn't.
When i plugged my external speakers the voice came out!
internal speakers: sounds yes / voice no
external speakers: sounds yes / voice yes
Do you think the hiss problem is related with this "missing voice" issue?
    Have you experienced something similar?
Do you think i should bring my macbook to assistance?
Thank you (and sorry for my english, i hope you can understand me anyway)

i have the same problem: ipad2 makes noise every time when plays sound (music, video, games, typing)
i'm sure that problem is hardware..
the noise exists only with speaker: if i connect headphones noise disappears
