High point usb 3.0 experience

Any positive or negative ?
Thanks!

High Point RocketU Quad USB 3.0 for Mac works great. I use it primariy with VMware Fusion on Mountain Lion.
Was having troubles with conflicts with CD/DVD Drive when Mirroring 2 Seagate GoFlex 2TB Drives. Downloading current driver resolved the issue.
I worked with High Point support. Quick response and excellent experience.
You may want to mount the drive in Slot 4.

  • High speed usb port?

I have a older laptop. 5 or 6 years old.
When I plug my ipod into the usb port a message pops up saying that this devise could preform faster, if I had a high speed usb port on my computer.
Could this be the problem why I cant put songs from itunes onto the ipod?
I get this message "The ipod "its name here" cannot be synced. The disk could not be read from or written to.

You have a different problem. The iPod can work with the slower USB1 ports but data transfer is painfully slow. It seems that your iPod needs to be restored back to factory settings.

  • Do you need a high speed USB drive to effectively use a 5G ipod

My new 5G is working on my newer dell comp with the high speed, but not working on my older vaio without a high speed drive. Thoughts?

My new 5G is working on my newer dell comp with the high speed, but not working on my older vaio without a high speed drive
Do you mean a high speed (USB 2.0) port?
Your hard drive is not USB and it is fast enough.

  • Nas, High Point and Apple TV streaming

Hi, I want to know if its possible to stream my iTunes collection from LaCie NAS to my Apple TV with out using any computer (PC or MAC)
In other words If I change my ''iTunes music folder location'' to my NAS also I copied my Mp4 to my NAS using ''copy files when adding to library'' and using a High Point (for example: 3 Com) then I would be abble to stream my library to my Apple TV?
    Thanks in advance

    Hello,
Unfortunately, there must be a computer 'in the loop' running iTunes.
You can certainly move your library to the NAS, but AppleTV relies on a computer running iTunes to function.
    Cheers,

  • No high-speed USB ports?

When my I-Pod Shuffle is plugged into either of the two USB ports in the back of my computer's modem, my computer states that there is a "High Speed USB Device attached to a non high-speed hub" and that "There are no high-speed USB host controllers installed on this computer". So I take it I'm going to have to buy some sort of high-speed USB device to fit the I-Pod, but I have no earthly idea where I would buy one!

No - you dont need a high speed port it will work fine with a 1.1 (low speed) port. It will just take a lot longer to load songs on your shuffle.
As long as it charges (high powered port is needed - you can have high powered port which is low speed) you shoud be OK.
If you dont like the transfer speed you can probably take out the USB card that you have and replace it with a 2.0 card - a fairly easy and relatively cheap procedure, but if you dont feel comforatble doing it ask a freind who is a bit more tech savvy.

  • High Speed USB Ports

Every time I plug my iTouch into my PC, I get a notice that I should use a high speed USB.  Yet, there are only three USB ports on the laptop and all of them trigger the same alert.  What am I missing?  Are the high speed USB ports attached to the Docking Station?

What kind of Thinkpad do you got (for example T61, Type/model: 4236-3EG) and what OS do you use?
Did you always have this problem or something that started recently? Did you also try other USB devices that give the same error?

  • Must I have a high speed USB port?

Every time i connect my brand new 60 gig ipod to my computer a bubble pops up saying "A high speed device is plugged into a non-high speed USB port" Ive seen this before with other devices and its never been a problem, however with this ipod plugged in my computer freezes up, i can still click stuff and all but nothing happens, and then when i disconnect the ipod everything pops up and its like it was never frozen....very wierd, like the screen freezes when the ipod is plugged in. Anyone have any advice for me?

No, you do not have to have a high speed usb port to use the pod or iTunes. It really does make it much faster though, but it is not necessary.
I get the same bubble at home where I have the older 1.1 usb ports. It takes about 3 to 4 minutes to read my Pod and associate it with my PC. This happens everytime. The more you put on it, the longer it is going to take.
On my new laptop which has 2.0, it takes 25 seconds to register everything. That's 3500 pics and 16 gigs of music; Hence you can see why 2.0 is on my christmas list for the desktop lol.
Try giving it at least 5 minutes to fully register. The first time you do it, it always takes a long time. Also do you have any other USB things hooked up that may be conflicting with the pod?

  • High-Powered USB vs Non High-powered USB ?

I have a new shuffle(512 mb). I have successfully loaded the itunes software on my 2 year old Dell PC. I have 2 USB ports(500 ma) on the back of the tower.
I have plugged the ipod into a USB and itunes has recognized it. I have successfully uploaded several playlists.
I have however received window messages that a high-power device is plugged into a non high-power USB port. I plugged my ipod in for charging and the status light is amber. How do I know if the ipod is being charged by this non high-power USB port?
    Ipod Shuffle   Windows XP

    Hi,
From your description it is very clear that the USB ports in your computer is a low powered USB 1.1 port, to charge the battery of an iPod shuffle it should be connected to a USB 2.0 port.
You may plug in the iPod shuffle to any computer which has a High powered USB port for a maximum of 4 hours for a good charge. Right now the iPod shuffle is in low charge.
Otherwise you may buy an USB power adaptor from Apple Store.

    thanks..

Ok, I do NOT have a high power USB, but when i connect my Ipod it shows in windows explorer but not in itunes. I tried to use explorer to put songs on the Ipod, and it shows it is on there in explorer, but not on the Ipod...

  • Purchased "high power" USB hub, still doesn't charge.

I found a 4-port USB hub with two "high power" ports (Targus ACH80US), but my iPad still won't charge when attached (yes, to the high power port, yes it's plugged into the wall too).
Anyone have any ideas? I'm using an older G5 iMac, but it's going through the new "high power" USB hub.

    Copied from this link.
    http://www.apple.com/batteries/ipad.html
The quickest way to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter. *When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge, but only when it's in sleep mode.* Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Does your iPad not charge when the iPad is in sleep mode?

  • Has anyone ever experienced the situation where plugging in the USB connector to the charging source (high-power USB port or Apple charger) halfway, then pressing it in firmly, results in the iPad not charging?

Has anyone ever experienced the situation where plugging in the USB connector to the charging source (high-power USB port or Apple charger) halfway, then pressing it in firmly, results in the iPad not charging?

It's highly likely that there is a poor connection in the phone - either a pin in the dock connector or internal wiring harness.  No software fixes or "tricks" would work, but I would recommend restoring in iTunes, first using a backup and if needed restore as a new phone.
Otherwise, opening and repairing the phone takes some tech knowledge that can't be relayed here.  Apple doesn't repair phones other than replacing batteries (not inconceivable that you have a bad battery), but offers "out-of-warranty" replacement (refurb) phones for $149 (US).  3rd party iPhone repair centers may be able to fix it for less.  Google to find them,
    Tried soft and hard resets
FYI, there's no such thing as "soft" or "hard" resets in iPhone terminology.  There is only one phone reset. You'll see those terms thrown around by technically ignorant posters, but they mean different things to different people and are actually archaic, 1980s PC terms that have nothing to do with iPhones.

  • High-Power USB Motherboards

I'm about to build a new rig -- most likely using an Asus MB. Anyone know if Asus sells a MB with the high-power USBs necessary to charge the iPad? And I've tried ai charger ... all it does is crash my current system (which has a P5Q Deluxe MB and Intel Q9550 processor). In fact, I've seen on the Asus forums that ai charger crashes a lot of systems, so I'd rather just go with a system that already provides high-power USBs.
    Thanks.

If by high power you mean USB-3 you will only get 1 amp at 5 volts. You will then get 2 times the charging current of a normal USB2. Not really worth worth the effort. I have both on my computer and find that the 1/2 amp usb2 ports keep the iPad at 100 percent.
If you add a usb3 card to a system remember to plug in the extra power cable to the card. Generally it it a spare 4 pin cable that goes to cooling fans.

  • "This High-Speed USB device is connected a non High-Speed USB Hub" pops up!

Hi. I have an iPod mini and a Window XP desktop. I've checked my computer as stated in the forum. I know I have a USB 2.0 port according to one of the posts I've read, but I guess it's not a high speed LOL. So I was wondering if it takes more time to fully recharge the iPod mini with a non High-Speed USB Hub than it does with the High-Speed USB Hub.
