High quality images in indesign CS6 get pixelated

I have been using indesign CS6 for a while now. Recently, when I place some images into a document, they are pixelated. They are high quality images with a high resolution. Even when I shrink it down considerably to fit in the document, it still gets pixelated. I have "view High Quality" checked & the image prints pixelated as well. When I preview the image, it looks fine. Any ideas?

Can you post a screen shot of the image placed on ID to have an idea of what you're looking at? If possible can you share a sample image via dropbox?

  • Invert image in InDesign CS6

How can I invert (make a negative image) a Tiff (or JPG) image within Indesign CS6?
This can be done in Photoshop, but I don't want to keep swapping applications or have to make and save a new (negative) image in Photoshop and then import into Indesign.
This was so easy in Quark years ago!
    Thanks!

Set the fill color of the rectangle holding your image to Black, and the fill color of the image itself (select with the white arrow) to Paper.
This will only work on grayscale and black-and-white images; then again, those are the only logical candidates to make negative.
In case "it is not working": there is a difference between a full color image containing only gray pixels and a real grayscale image. The former cannot be changed in ID, the latter can.

  • Lightroom doesn't render final high quality images

In Lightroom 3.3 rc it seem that I have many more times when Lightroom fails to render the final high quality image.  I see the inital low resolution version shown and the final high resolution version never appears.  Once this happens, I never get the high resolution version for that image until I exit and restart Lightroom.  This happens in the modules; but, has also happened on a slide show after all slides have been prepared by lightroom.  I may have seen this in 3.2; but, seems much worse in 3.3 rc.  I updated to 3.3 for Nikon D7000 support; so, no idea if difference could be related to support that camera.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

I don't use a lot of optical flow, but I found that if I want it rendered the render needs to be forced. As you point out the analysis happens automatically, but the render bar remains.
Just to test, I added some text to a re-timed clip with OF  and naturally the render bar returned. Re-rendered and it went away.
    Is your experience different?
BTW, if you can play and evaluate unrendered clips OK, it is possible to skip the render step and export.

  • I'm looking for a high quality image of the flower in the iPhone 5 the website.

There is a flower that is used in the apple website, for the iPhone 5. It is purple and yellow. I've been looking all over the web for it but cannot find an image of it that doesn't have a glare on it. I guess it is owned by apple, but I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find a high quality image of it. Unfortunately it is not included with the iPhone 5.

    Hi(Bonjour)!
I see on photo to movie spec page that you can export in full 1920 X 1080 H.264 codec, a high quality format usable in FCE.

  • Your tip in Printing in Indesign--working with high quality images

    Hi everyone,
I am very curious about what the other professionals' idea about printing and using Indesign to print.
I am working on a project that with high resolutions of model and product images together.
Since I had to move elements on the layout. Model and product images are in different layers in Indesign.
I used Indesign to combine those images together to create ads for magazine.
However, I was told  that it would be "SAFER" to combine those images together FRIST in photoshop.
he thinks the process should be that:
---Having a flated image of model and products in photoshop first
----then bring that one image in Indesign.
----This way it would insure the color will be right.
    What do you guys think?
The places I worked in the past, has not done stuff like that.
I feel like ...colors aren't something we could control when magazine uses their own printing vendor.
What is your process to ensure the color is right when priting a combination of different high resolution tiff files?
Thank you very much for your time and knowleage.
    Lori

Assuming you have some sort of color management in place, I would continue to do it the way you are.
But let's say you did want to follow this fellow's advice. Here's everything I can think of.
Putting the models and products together on one Photoshop "page" can wind up making the PSD file very big as there may be spaces between the models and products.
Never, ever flatten that Photoshop file. There's no need and makes a very complicated workflow if you have to make any changes.
You're right about the magazine printing process taking over color.
What are you sending the magazine? A PDF? There's totally no need to flatten in Photoshop then.
The art is flattened in it's own way.
I'm also assuming that your prducts and models are close to each other

  • When placing an image in InDesign, it appears pixelated.  It is a 66mb file in a 6x9" document.

I am new to InDesign, as I've been creating all my documents for print in Acrobat as a PDF.  When I am placing an image, it appears pixelated.

    Hi,
This is an expected behavior, when you place an image in InDesign then it display the preview of the image however you this has no impact on the output unless the image placed is of low-resolution itself.
In order to have good resolution of images, you may switch to View > Display Performance > High Quality.

  • Images in InDesign CS6 tables

In InDesign CS6 is there a way to define tables cells to images instead of text (like you can in QXP). My aim is to import images into cell, but I want them to fill the full cell size.

Sorry - InDesign doesn't offer that function - you'd have to set that up manually.
Give your cell 0 padding all around.
Get the measurement for your cell
Create a graphic frame that size.
And cut and paste it into the cell.

  • Help! Integrating high quality images and video.

I'm trying to create a relatively short slideshow with high resolution images (~3MB) and a couple of short video clips.
iMovie 6.0.3 ruins my pictures. They're blurry and pixelated. Is there a new version of iMovie that can help me import high quality pictures?
I don't need to create a DVD per se. I could just hook up my computer to a TV screen or use my laptop screen for presentation purposes.
    What should I do?
    Any help would be appreciated!

avoid using iMovieHD6, which is mainly meant to deliver content to TV = low res, low color profile, low framerate, interlacing..
use any specialized tool as PhotoMagico or Photo2movie..
you can slightly improve slideshow's quality, by setting up a HiDef project (720p/1080i), export as h264 and set the QTplayer app to 'high' ..
aside: the Preview in iM shows a reduced quality of projects .. never judge pic quality of iM on a computer..
and, don't hesitate to make use of the forum's Search feature.. we have approx. 5000 threads concerning pic quality..

  • How to Export High Quality Adobe Flash Professional CS6

Okay, here's the situation. I've created a series of separate files of animations using .PNG images, and JPGs. Each animation is less than 1 minute long - and are separate files.
I have tried exporting various ones, and have had absolutely no luck in getting anything resembling high quality. I mean the first animations made by humans were better quality than this.
It's utterly ridiculous how bad this program works.
    Anyways...
I've tried altering the frame rate, dimensions of the document, different export files, different players to view, I've gone into the settings and made sure the highest quality option is selected, etc. I've combed the internet for weeks and have read EVERYTHING on the subject (not much!!). I've also watched every relevant youtube video and nothing has worked!
I am losing my mind over this.
I even tried opening the files in Premiere and exporting them and they look even worse! What the hell is going on??
The whole reason I began using Flash is because research led me to believe it was made for this purpose but it clearly can't do...anything.
Is there any solution? Or should I just look into a different program?

What Image Export Preset settings are you using?  (See and edit these via "Aperture→Presets→Image Export".)
16-bit TIFF is the highest quality Image Format.  If you are using JPEG, set the Image Quality slider all the way to the right ("12").  Make sure size is set to "Original Size".  "DPI" has no bearing on image quality -- it is just a setting that some apps use to determine how big to display the image on the screen.

  • Trouble with re-sizing images/textboxes InDesign CS6

Has anyone had any problems re-sizing images or text boxes in InDesign CS6?
I have been doing it for months by selecting the corners and dragging them in or out but suddenly it's stopped working. The arrow no longer changes to a double arrow when I hover over the corner and all I can see is an hourglass when I hover over any type of frame.
I can resize images only be changing their percentage in the transform objects -> scale options.
I tried re-setting my preferences and it didn't help.
Please advise me if there is something else I can do.

Tried that and it didn't help.
The only thing I can think of is that there is something wrong or slow with my remote desktop connection which is affecting functionality. No one else seems to have had this problem.
    Thanks for your effort though.

  • How do I create a High Quality Image with a low file size???

    Dear All,
I am creating an invitation in Illustrator which I then place into photshop to create a JPEG. I want to create a high quality JPEG version of it but with a low file size because I am emailing the invitation. Am I correct in placing the image into photshop or should I export it from Illustrator.
The image is built of of vectors and one JPEG but they are not high in quality.
    Can anyone help me please
    Thanks
    Ben

The image is built of of vectors and one JPEG but they are not high in quality.
For this type of image you would probably be better choosing GIF format (now known for some reason as 'Compuserve GIF'). Taking the number of "colors' down untl it still looks high quality, and anti-aliasing is preserved.

  • How can I get text to appear over my placed or pasted images in InDesign CS6?

I am new to InDesign and am having a few issues. I have a basic template for a site that I have built in Illustrator. I have placed the design into an InDesign document (I have tried both copy/paste and the Place feature). When I try to use InDesign to overlay text on top of the image, it shows up fine whenever I export to an image file. However, when I export to HTML, the text gets pushed directly underneath the image in web browser (it's visible, but shows on white space below my desired template). Is there any way to fix this? I have already tried enabling "Ignore Text Wrap" on the text frame and the text itself is set to the front of the document. Thanks!

InDesign is not a web authoring tool. If you’re expecting text to simply overlay a graphic in export HTML from InDesign you’re going to be highly disappointed.
I’ll make the assumption you know nothing about web authoring tools and HTML/CSS. I suggest you look into Muse.

  • How to export high quality images from graphs

    Hello,
I am absolutely no expert in this subject, so it may be that I say some aberrations
So this is what I want to do:
I perform signal processing of vibration data with LabVIEW. What I get as results are a lot of graphs such as spectrums, waveforms, intensity graphs, 3d surface graphs, etc. being the most important the 3 firsts.
Then, of course, I need to write some reports or powerpoint presentations, and I need to show the plots as figures. The data that I have is very large, (a waveform is sampled at 1,25 MS/s and I am ploting 10 seconds) so I can only export the simplified version of the image to the by right clicking the graph and then I paste it in Paint and save it in bmp format.
Sometimes I need to add some text on the images, so I do that also in Paint. Finally I import the bmp image to the word/powerpoint document and save it.
When I make a report, I use one of the available tools to convert the word .doc document into a pdf document (this tools that are like a printer), so I get as a result a PDF with the text and the images.
As you can imagine, the final result is not so good, particulary on the images. They are not so clear. I have seen some pdf documents which have images so clear that you can zoom it all you want and nothing happens. I believe these images are stored on a vectorial format.
Well now I want to improve the quality of my reports so first of all I want to use some Latex software to write the text. And of course, I would like to have my graphs - generated by LabVIEW - in this vectorial format. Does anyone know how can I do this?
I have read something about a dll which creates some .wmf image file but I don´t know very much about it.
    thank you in advance,
