High resolution graphics cannot be opened
Help please...I have a template where I have successfully loaded a graphic file (BMP - 256 colours). However, I am not able to load the any graphic file where there are more than 256 colours. I am not able to convert the graphic file through the tools I am using.
Hi Thristen, I assume you are using Output Designer 5.6.
I have no problem bringing in a bitmap > 256 colours.
Perhaps you can send me the image that is giving you problems.

hi all.
i'm trying to get one jtextpane graphics and convert it to a bufferedimage.
some portion of my code is :
BufferedImage image = new BufferedImage(region.width, region.height,
BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_RGB);
Graphics2D g2d = image.createGraphics();
g2d.setClip(region);
paint(g2d);//this class extends jtextpane
g2d.dispose();
setOpaque(opaqueValue);
double scx = 0.3;
double scy = 0.3;
//resizing
AffineTransform tx = new AffineTransform();
tx.scale(scx, scy);
BufferedImage img2 = new BufferedImage((int) (scx * region.width),
(int) (scy * region.height), BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_RGB);
AffineTransformOp op = new AffineTransformOp(tx,
AffineTransformOp.TYPE_NEAREST_NEIGHBOR);
op.filter(image, img2);
ImageIO.write(img2, "BMP", new File("c:\\test.BMP"));
my original jtextpane size is 257*257 and i wnad to save it at size about 80*80
but when i resize the bufferedimage it's quality is too low (96 dpi)
how can i increase image resolution to about 300 dpi and then resize it?
is any help?Hi Thristen, I assume you are using Output Designer 5.6.
I have no problem bringing in a bitmap > 256 colours.

How do I create high resolution graphics?
Hello
I'm working on a graphic image, but I'm using a bit of photography in it. My problem is that the .jpg I get from the Save as, is not large enough. If I had to start all over, should I create a larger document or is it alright to enlarge the image size and the graphical element itself?
Thanks!
Best wishes
Arunyou start with the canvas size of the image you need. You create the size, A3 or 6' x 4' etc then you add your artwork to that.

Does stand alone engine support higher resolution graphics
When using LabView 6.0 and building a stand alone application, the graphics doesn't compaire to the graphics on the developement platform.
It's difficult to tell from here what graphics you are referring to, but if you use the Dialog Controls, then the Operating System you run your application on with automatically place its default controls on the Front Panel. For instance, if you run it on XP, you will get the native XP controls. If you run it on Mac OS X, you see native OS X controls. This may help you out on that. You could give this a try and see how it works.

Convert PDF into a High Res Graphic for Printing
Hi there,
I have to convert a pdf into a high resolution graphic meant to be printed on a bulletin board about 300dpi. What is the best way to do this? Here is the link to the pdf to what i am referring to, just in case you want to get an idea of what i am working with:
http://desmondhotelsalbany.com/pdf/FloorPlan.pdf
Would it be best to use Illustrator for vector quality, and use the pen tool to trace over into a new layer and save in 300dpi? Can I use a wand tool so that everything gets traced in a snap?
Now, I am a Photoshop boy and was wondering if this can be done using the pen and saving in a resolution of 300? The graphic isn't too intricate, basically black lines and text. So maybe Photoshop could work, even though not ideal. What do you think?
I really appreciate help, I am a web graphic designer and print is out of my element. Thanks!!Apparently parts of the the file are already vector-based, so those only should require minor adjustments. The most obvious failure here is, that the contours are broken up in separate segments and thus have "dents and gaps". This will look rather ugly, but should be possible to fix with a little patience by joining the ends. Other parts will most definitely have to be re-traced. The file seems to be based on TIFF files from a CAD program and only bits and pieces have been covered up and adjusted with vector elements as the project evolved. If you can be 100% sure, that the billboard will be inkjet-printed, it would be safe to attempt cleaning it up in PS, if not, and foil labeling is used, then you will not be able to avoid vectorizing it.

How can I open Adobe Bridge CS6 in high resolution on my MacBook Pro Retina display?
How can I open Adobe Bridge CS6 in high resolution on my MacBook Pro Retina display? When I click Get Info, the "Open in Low Resolution" box is marked and locked. How can I unmark this box? I currently run 10.9.1. I can open Adobe Photoshop CS6 in high resolution without any problem. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.
There is no such thing. In CS6 only PS itself is Retina compatible. You would have to use CC for full Retina support.

I cannot import high resolution photos into iPhoto on iMac
iphoto shuts down when I try to edit a high resolution photo imported into the application.
these are scanned photos at a resolution higher than 600 dpi.Sometimes it does not get imported, other times it does and when I try to edit with the quick fixes it crashes.
Below the latest crash.
The photo is scanned with a multifunction Canon MG6250 in color at the highest resolution.
In preview the photo is displayed well and editing is allowed, but with iPhoto crashes.
Thanks for any tips,

Security set to allow high resolution printing but pdf won't print
We create a large number of pdf files to send out to
clients, etc. We have been using security on all pdf's being sent out, however, some clients are having issues printing these pdf files even though our security settings are set to allow high resolution printing. Any one have any ideas why? I cannot duplicate the issue for whatever reason, the files still print for me.I discover I am suddenly having a similar problem as well.
I have recently migrated to a new Intel iMac/Leopard, I'm on a network and trying to print to a Tektronix/Xerox 7700 laser printer. I can print anything other kind of document on that printer as long as it is not a PDF.
When I open the printer window it says the job has been stopped. I choose the job and tell it to "resume" at which point the printer pauses itself. Once it flashed a window that said Operation Not Possible - client-error-something-something and then closed before I could see what the last two words were.
I am currently using Adobe Reader 6.0. I would love to be able to try to print out of 7.0 but there seem to be continual download problems in the form of constant connection failures. I also have Acrobat 6.0 STD - can't print out of either one. -
Macbook Pro 15" High-Resolution Display
Hi
I'm a little confused with the option of having high-res on the 15" model. Is the resolution dictated by hardware or software?
If it's hardware, do they have a different display panel on high-res models? (since the GPU remains the same)
If it's software, then, is it a driver issue or system code that "unlocks" the choice of resolutions? (remember under both configurations, the GPU is the same)
Thanks
gtdsGregory: You can see exactly what the difference in menu fonts' (and other GUI elements') size will be using your present machine by doing the following:
1. Display a typical/representative set of windows and stuff, including the smallest fonts you normally read, on your present 1440 x 900 MBP display.
2. Take a screenshot of it by pressing CommandShift3.
2. Open the screenshot in Preview by double-clicking it.
3. Print the screenshot, using the following settings in the Print dialog box:
Paper size: whatever your printer can handle
Orientation: horizontal
Center image: not checked
Scale: 100% (do not check Scale to Fit).
If your printer offers a choices of resolutions or qualities, choose the highest.
This should result in a printout in which the fonts and graphic elements are the same size as those displayed on your screen. Verify this.
4. Change the scale to 85.7% and print again, leaving the other settings the same.
This will produce a printout that, if your first one matched what's displayed on your screen, will match what you'd see on the higher-resolution 1680 x 1050 display.
Compare the two printouts. -
USB failure: "The project appears to be damaged, it cannot be opened." CS2
First of all - yes, I'm using CS2. I can't afford to buy a newer version at the moment, so I'm living in the past.
Second of all -- I am committing several egregious sins that would make my past video editing teachers cringe: I was editing directly off my USB, and I didn't make the occasional iterated file-name save as I ought to have. I realize this is rather poor planning on my part, but my lack of harddrive space (and USB disk space, honestly) dictated my actions more than my better judgement.
After saving a file -- not experiencing any crashes, mind you -- I went to edit one of the unrelated clips in After Effects to import into Premiere, because I had a few fancier things I'd wanted to do before importing it. Upon finishing the clip to my satisfaction and exporting it, I returned to my Premiere Pro project, only to be greeted with the following error:
"The project appears to be damaged, it cannot be opened."
So, into the wonderful world of autosaves I go (because there is only so much advice I can stand to ignore, and the autosaves are one feature I turn off only when absolutely positively desperate) -- except the autosaves all appear to be similarly affected, much to my dismay.
Advice? Is my work unrecoverable? Is it a matter of looking for USB repair software? Is there some trick I can employ to let it load whatever parts are not corrupted, and fix whatever is? The file certainly seems large enough to contain at least some useful information, though I know that means almost nothing in the world of oh-my-gosh-what-did-I-just-do-fix-this-ack-is-this-the-end-etc-etc computer errors.OK I've tried to make sense of this an to troubleshoot it myself. I've spent lots of time trying to find a solution relevant to the problem, but so far have not. Seems time to submit and see what help there may be.
I'm using Premiere Pro 3 on a HP desktop with 3.0 GHz chip, w 4 GB sys memory using MS WinXP. It's sold as a "media PC".
There's a 2TB WD MyBook external drive attached by fire wire to the desktop PC (PC A). The desktop PC has 150GB hard drive and a high end graphics card that supports dual monitors. I've been editing with this rig over 2 years with no problem.
I have various other external hard drives I've been using with no problem, including another MyBook 2TB, an Iomega 500GB, and 3 or 4 small WD Passport type hard drives with 400GB to 500GB apiece. I have two laptops that meet the system requirements for using Adobe Premiere Pro CS3. Both have PPro CS 3 installed.
Recently, I started getting a message when opening PPro projects on this drive using the desktop PC: "project appears to be damaged, it cannot be opened".
In the past, this message has happened occassionally. When it did, I'd retrieve a file from the Premiere Auto save directory and just continue on with no problem. More recently - this past weekend - I suddenly found all the PPro projects on the 2TB external drive generate the same "project damaged" message when I try to open them.
I have various PPro projects in progress on other external drives used on other PC's. So I opened PPro project files on another drive with the same desktop PC A with no problem. All projects on other drives open OK on the desktop PC.
So it seems the desktop PC is not causing the "projects damaged" problem.
Then I used a different PC - one of my laptops that has the same PPro software installed - same version installed off the same disc. Using the project files on the 2TB - the drive that seems to generate the "files damaged" messages, has no problem opening on one the laptop PCs. So it appears the 2TB external drive is not source of the problem since it works with PCs besides the desktop.
It would be great to diagnose the problem so I could get a solution, but getting a diagnosis seems to defy logic.
The project files on external 2TB drive - when used with the desktop - don't work
The project files on different external drive, when used with the desktop - work OK
So the desktop is not causing the problem, because PPro project files on other drives work fine on the desktop.
So maybe it's the 2TB drive that's the problem.
The same project files on the 2TB drive - where the "projects damaged" message happens - work OK on either of the two laptop PCs.
The projects on the 2TB drive all open with no problem on the laptop PCs.
Since the project files on drive the 2TB drive work fine on both laptop PC's, the 2TB drive is not the source of the problem either.
Just to be sure, I completely uninstalled the entire Creative CS3 Suite from PC A the desk top and completely reinstalled it.
Same problems, uninstalling and reinstalling the software makes no difference.
o Using PPro project files on the 2TB drive, with the desktop, generates the "projects damaged" message.
o Using PPro project files on the other drives, with the desktop, generates NO "projects damaged" message.
o Using the PPro project files on the 2TB drive with other PCs generates NO "projects damaged" message.
Hope this makes sense. The symptons certainly don't Thanks for whatever advice and feedback can be shared. GWDMRG -
Increase After Effects System text for high resolution monitor
I just purchased a high resolution monitor. The panels and system text (rendering queue, project panel, etc.) in After Effects is now just about microscopic.
Is there anyway to adjust the default text size on all the panels?No, unfortunately not. This stuff is part of Adobe's specific UI libraries and cannot be changed. The main application menu should respect your settings though, as should file dialogs and a few text input fields, if that's any consolation. If possible, simply define a user preset in your graphics card settings that switches screeen resolution and system dpi when launching AE or any other Adobe app. Good monitors have good scaling chips, so it should not look all too shabby and you can always go back full res for pixel precision when needed...

Excel Services 2010 Error - "The workbook cannot be opened."
I enabled Excel Services and added a Excel Web Access viewer to my page. It's just a simple spreadsheet (which incidentally works fine on my standalone development server) that displays the error "The workbook cannot be opened." when the page loads. The trusted
file locations are set up appropriately. We are using Kerberos authentication.
My event viewer showed this "Critical" event (ID: 3760):
SQL Database 'Prod_WSS_Content' on SQL Server instance 'servername' not found. Additional error information from SQL Server is included below.
Cannot open database "Prod_WSS_Content" requested by the login. The login failed. Login failed for user 'domain\user'.
In other words, the service account that ECS was running under did not have permission to the content database. So I granted the user read permission on the database. Then I got the same error and this "Error" level event in the event viewer (ID: 5617):
There is a compatibility range mismatch between the Web server and database "Prod_WSS_Content", and connections to the data have been blocked to due to this incompatibility. This can happen when a content database has not been upgraded to be within the compatibility
range of the Web server, or if the database has been upgraded to a higher level than the web server. The Web server and the database must be upgraded to the same version and build level to return to compatibility range.
This error is typically associated with 2007 to 2010 upgrades apparently, but I did a fresh 2010 installation on a pristine machine. I found a very helpful post on the subject on the MSDN blogs:http://blogs.msdn.com/b/jjameson/archive/2010/05/04/the-workbook-cannot-be-opened-error-with-sharepoint-server-2010-and-tfs-2010.aspx
I gave the ECS service account db_owner permission on the content database. I'm still getting the error "The workbook cannot be opened." I ran the PowerShell commands listed at the bottom of the post, and no change.
What's interesting now, is that nothing at all is showing up in the event
viewer. I wonder if it is because of the statement in the event log that says "connections to the data have been blocked due to this incompatibility." Is there something on the SharePoint server blocking the connection to SQL Server that needs to be reset?

I suggest you to check the following things at first:
1.
What’s the version of the excel file? Excel 2003, Excel 2007 or Excel 2010? Excel Service doesn’t support Excel 2003 and easier version;
2.
Are there some features the Excel Service do not support?

3.
If the excel is connected to SQL, did you save the connect file to the Data Connection Library?

I recently upgraded to 3.2 from the App Store and was able to run the program until today. I am now completely unable to open it. I have tried the standard troubleshooting, including moving the application support files to the desktop, deleting the com.apple.aperture preference file, opening while holding CMD and option, and reinstalling. I have also tried moving my Aperture Library to start the program fresh. Nothing has worked; the same "cannot be opened" error persists.
I have read about other users having issues with the program constantly crashing, but that specific problem appears limited to Intel Core Duo processors, while mine is an Intel Core 2 Duo running on a MBP 3,1. I am starting this thread to find out if any with similar specs have had the same issue and known how to resolve it. Thank you in advance for your help!

If you purchased Aperture from the Mac App Store and are running OS X Lion:
See the article OS X Lion: About Lion Recovery for instructions about how to reinstall OS X Lion.
That seems overkill and very inconvenient. Can I resolve this issue by restoring PluginManager files from before I installed FC, or something like that?
Thanks again. -
App store cannot be opened because of a problem - failed upgraded to 10.8.2
I earlier tried upgrading, through Software Update... and the App Store to Mac OS 10.8.2.
however upon restart and installation it said the update failed.
What's happening now is if I click to start the Software Update... again, or try and open the App Store I get the message
"App Store cannot be opened because of a problem"

How to Use Pacifist to Replace Deleted or Missing OS X Components
Insert the OS X Installer DVD into the optical drive. Use a simple utility like TinkerTool to toggle invisibility so you can see invisible items. Alternatively, open the Terminal application in your Utilities folder and at the prompt enter the following:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles Yes
Press RETURN.
To turn off the display of invisible files repeat the above command substituting No for Yes.
The install packages are located in the /System/Installation/ folder on the DVD.
Download the shareware utility Pacifist from VersionTracker or MacUpdate. Use it to extract a fresh copy of the missing item(s) from the file archives on your OS X installation DVD. The file archives are in the /System/Installations/ folder (use Go to Folder option in the Go menu of the Finder.)
Here are Four Basic ways to use Pacifist (courtesy of George Orville.)
A. Drag a .pkg icon onto the Pacifist window .....proceed to step 7.
B. Click on “Open Package ....” and navigate to package desired and click “Open” in the open/save window.....proceed to step 7.
C. Insert Mac OS X installer CD and when it mounts, navigate to .... Menu->Go->Go to Folder.
In the path field enter or paste ....
/Volumes/disc name/System/Installation/Packages (where disc name is the name of the CD/DVD that you inserted.
• Click on the "Go" button .....
• Drag a .pkg to Pacifist..... proceed to step 7.
The package you'll need will have to be discovered by trial and error, but for most applications you should start with the Essentials.pkg and/or Additional Essentials.pkg.
D. Insert your Mac OS X install disk 1 .... and open Pacifist.
1. In Pacifist, select "Open Mac OS X Install Packages" ... dialog may appear asking for disk 2, then disk 3 and finally disk 1 again.... {if DVD is not used)...If “Stop Loading” is selected...the procedure will stop!!!
2a. When loading is complete, a new window appears, click the triangle to display contents of each package...Select item and proceed to step 7.
2b. or click the “Find” icon in the Pacifist window and type the name of the software you need.
3. In the list that comes back, click the top most entry for the item that you want. ..... that is the one for the English language.
4. On the top of the Pacifist window, click “verify” .... you will probably be prompted for your password.
5. Enter checks for.... “verify permissions” and “verify file contents.” and click “verify” ....enter password when prompted.... you will get back output which may look like this:
20 files were scanned.
20 of 20 files were present on the hard disk.
0 of 20 files had file permissions that did not match those specified in the package.
0 of 20 files had checksums that did not match those specified in the package.
6. Click “close”. Go to step 7.
Extract or Install........
7. In the Toolbar (upper left), you now have the option to extract or install. Click a file in the lower list and those two icons will be enabled.
8. If “Extract to...” is selected.... navigate to the location where the file will be placed, select “choose”, select “extract” in new dialog that appears,authenicate , if prompted, click “OK”.
9. In the next dialog, click “Extract”.
10. If “Install” is selected... dialog will appear with the location/path of the installed software. Click “Install”
11. Type in your password, click “OK”
• Pacifist will begin to extract files.
12. In steps 8/10ß.... you also have the choice to “cancel”
Notes.....
• Pacifist may find that a file it is installing already exists on the hard disk. Pacifist will present you with an alert panel....
Stop
Leave original alone
Update ..... Default selection
Replace .... Replace option should only be used on full install packages
