High Resolution Monitor AND TV

I have a 15 inch Powerbook G4 and do a lot of Digital Photography. I want to get a larger(approximately 27 inch) display so I can view and share the photographs more easily with MAXIMUM resolution. I am wondering if I can do this and also watch High Def Cable TV on the same display? If yes, How?

Welcome to the family, thanks for closing your own thread.
I still can't figure out why the 'drop shadow' and 'motion blur' checkboxes had the same sharpening effect without rendering. < </div>
They force another level of RT processing.

Why is there no scaling for high resolution monitors in Adobe Bridge CC?
Photoshop CC, Illustrator CC and Indesign CC have 200% scaling for high resolution monitors in their preferences panel but Bridge CC does not, when will this feature be added to Bridge CC Adobe???

Inconsistency between or among applications in the artificial "suites" should come as no surprise.
The "suite" concept is a fabrication of Adobe marketing and bean-counting types.  The engineering teams are totally independent of each other, they are not only in different buildings but in different cities and states of the American Union, even in different countries.
The fact that they have little if any communication among them is highlighted by requests occasionally made in these forums by top Adobe engineers to let the other teams know when there are problems in one application that impact our workflow in another one.

  • Portege R930 - BSOD when connecting high resolution monitor to HDMI port

    Hello.
I have the Portege R930 (pt331a-01w001) running window 7. Everything on the laptop works as expected, however when I plug the laptop into a high resolution monitor (2560x1440) via the HDMI port I get blue screen of death.
I can use the HDMI port to connect to my 1080p LCD TV and my work monitor which is a lower resolution and it works ok.
I have tried multiple cables and different monitors of the same resolution.
    Can anyone assist?

    Hello,
Yes that is correct. When my laptop is connected to a monitor with a lower resolution that 2560x1440 (such as my work monitor (1680x1050) or my TV (1080p)) everything works as expected.
Once I plug it into the 2560x1440 monitor I get BSOD.
The monitor only has a DVI-D Dual link port, so I am using a HDMI to DVI-D Dual link cable to connect the laptop HDMI port to the monitor.
I was getting this fault with the original display driver (not sure of the version), I then updated to the Toshiba driver (v8.15.10.2712) and also tried the Intel Driver (9.17.10.2932) and still get the same problem.

  • Increase After Effects System text for high resolution monitor

I just purchased a high resolution monitor.  The panels and system text (rendering queue, project panel, etc.) in After Effects is now just about microscopic.
Is there anyway to adjust the default text size on all the panels?

No, unfortunately not. This stuff is part of Adobe's specific UI libraries and cannot be changed. The main application menu should respect your settings though, as should file dialogs and a few text input fields, if that's any consolation. If possible, simply define a user preset in your graphics card settings that switches screeen resolution and system dpi when launching AE or any other Adobe app. Good monitors have good scaling chips, so it should not look all too shabby and you can always go back full res for pixel precision when needed...

  • Panel not resizing for high-resolution monitors

Received this in an email from a person using an HTML5 panel:  "What I'm seeing on a high resolution monitor (3840x2160) is that the panel doesn't resize to fit its container."
The container for the panel is appears to have scaled up, but the panel itself is tiny within this container.
The pixel dimensions on which the panel was built (and what's coded into the HTML for the panel) makes the panel the correct size on "normal" monitors, but it doesn't appear to up rez for high-resolution monitors.  The user can scale the rest of Photoshop's menus and panels using some interface in the OS, but the panel doesn't scale.
Anyone have any thoughts on this weather or not it's possible to get panels to up-rez for high-resolution monitors?
    Thanks.

  • Got High resolution Monitor but everytnings too big

I just got a bigger monitor with higher resolution.  For some reason, the block diagrams are screwed up.  It seems like everything got bigger!  What's the deal, and how do I fix it?
    Thanks
    LV 8.6 on Windoze XP

Go to the windows control for Display properties and select font size=normal.
You can also change the default diagram font for new VIs in LabVIEW, but it won't affect existing VIs. You would need to e.g. select all objects on the diagram and press "ctrl-" (control+minus) a few times to make the current fonts all smaller manually. I don't recommend this though.

  • 14" high-resolution monitor?

I am looking for a small monitor with a similar-size screen and resolution for my T60p but I'm unable to find a 14" monitor with a resolution any higher than 1024x768 (woefully inadequate anymore). It's difficult doing much at that resolution nowadays and the 15" I have takes up too much desk space (the 14" I found are twice as expensive).
Has anyone seen 14" monitors higher than that resolution ever? I've discovered SXGA (1280x1024) would be perfectly adequate (my T60p's 14" monitor is 1400x1050) but I don't understand why monitors at that size and resolution either don't exist are are so hard to find while millions of laptop monitors at that size and resolution were manufactured. Why wouldn't they make a same-size 2nd monitor for them? It's odd looking at a small screen and a supplemental large screen, and kind of unnecessary.

    Hello,
It has been my observation that 8-10 years ago, laptops tended to come with higher resolution screens than comparable, standalone LCD monitors.  I am guessing this was likely due to the high cost of the LCD screens.
Perhaps you could purchase a larger LCD monitor, with a stand that allows you to rotate the screen 90°.  While the aspect ratio might seem a little odd (9:16, etc.) at first, this actually works quite well for some applications, such as web browsing, email and writing, where the screen more accurately mimics the geometry of a page in portrait mode.

  • Is there a way to take a high resolution image, and trace it in a lower resolution?

Layers appear to need to be all in the same resolution, so I'm thinking layers are out. Is there any other ways to do this?

    Hi Trevor, thanks for responding!
Basically, my goal is to use a higher resolution image as the basis for pixel art, but underlaying the higher resolution source picture under a much lower resolution layer, and "trace" out the basis for the pixel art on top of it. I suppose it would be a bit like onion skinning, but I'd need the two (layers? canvasses?) to be of radically different resolutions to accomplish what I'm trying to achieve. It's not a "size" issue, as I'd want the top to be the same physical size as the bottom, just have the top be, let's say 64 pixels by 64 pixels, and the bottom image to be 800 pixels by 800 pixels.
If that doesn't make sense, let me know, and I'll have another go at it!
    Thanks very much!

  • High resolution - xhdpi and beyond retina displays

    Hi,
Retina displays is not the frontier for some time.

If you join the Private Beta our strong preference is for you to test the build and provide feedback, but there's no requirement to do so. Once you've joined, the release notes for the next major update are posted on the private beta forum. We've also provided at least some small glimpses of what some of our top priorities are for the release after next, but again only in the NDA covered forum.
And, as you also know, "Files created in the private beta version cannot be used in any previous versions, but will still work in all future versions" are not reassuring words.
Understood. We strongly discourage use of beta builds for production work early in the Beta cycle of a release. At this point the current Beta is pretty solid, but you're certainly more likely to find a bug when working with the a beta versus the final production build.
Note the Beta build installs alongside your current build (so you can choose which to launch) and the implication above only applies to changes made and files subsequently saved using the Beta version. It's pretty simple to open your existing site in the Beta and save it to a different file name (so you still have your prior file to go back to) and then Publish to a new trial site to check for any unexpected bugs/changes to your site and to try out new features within the context of your site.

  • Macbook Pro 15" with two 27"+ high res. monitor trough thunderbolt port

    Hi all,
I just looking for a solution, to make it work: With a thunderbolt port MB Pro 15" (2011-eraly, 2011 late, 2012 mid NOT RETINA version), which has only one thunderbolt port. How its possible to plug two (min. 2560x1440) high resolution NOT APPLE Display (daisy chain). I got now one Dell 3011 and I plan to plug a second one. BUT how?
It is any HUB or something like that, which create from the one thunderbolt port »» two mini or standard diplay port, or dual DVI, so two separate connector which can handle the high resolution?
I saw lot of solution up to 1920x1200 (dualhead2go, etc.), but nowhere found any idea to handle with a MB Pro 15" thunderbolt version multiple (dual) external HIGH Resolution monitor 27-30" (2560x1440, or 2560x1600).

Try Googling "macbook pro thunderbolt dual display adapter" - there are a number of hits (even a YouTube video). See if you can find what might work best for you. I'm sure that someone around here has acheived this - they're jut not chiming in at the moment. Also check with OWC and see if they have anything. You can call them at 1.800.275.4576.
    Good luck,

  • When will Muse work with high resolution systems?

I just upgraded my PC to a Yoga 3, pushing an ASUS 2560x1440 monitor. After a new download/install, launching Muse on either the laptop's screen (3K) or the monitor results in the GUI's menus and commands being so tiny they are unusable. So far, Muse is the only application that I'm seeing this with. MS Office, browsers, and numerous other programs all work fine.
When I contacted support, they said "Muse isn't ready for high resolution systems," and had me drop the resolution down to "fix" the issue. Not what I spent all this money to do.
When I asked when Muse would be ready, they recommended that I post that question for the community. So here I am.
This all seems odd to me, because my old machine was a MacBook pro with retina display and the same monitor - Muse worked just fine there.
    Question posted.

The simple and only really honest answer is: When it's ready. Adobe never makes and "let's look into the crystal ball" statements about its software.

  • 17" high-resolution display vs. standard resolution

    Hi,
I'm looking to buy a refurbished MacBook Pro 17" and I'm trying to decide between the 17" high-resolution display and the 17" standard resolution display.
The laptop will be connected to a Studio Display 90% of the time and I'll use the laptop display as a second monitor. Battery life isn't a big concern. I like that a 7200rpm drive comes with the high-resolution display.
I'll be using the computer mostly for text and HTML editing, e-mail, web-based reading, and a small amount of simple photo editing, such as resizing and cropping. I'm replacing a Powerbook G4 17" 1Ghz.
I saw the high-resolution display and I thought the text looked small. It was very sharp and readable, but still small. Unfortunately, stepping down to the next resolution isn't as sharp and clear as the native resolution.
I'm wondering if I will get tired of the small text. Not all applications work well and look as good when bumping up the text sizes. And zooming is kind of a kludge.
Maybe the high-resolution display is better for photo and video editing?
The $200 difference isn't that big of a deal to me, especially since the computer is $2000+.
I'm trying to decide if I should go with the high-resolution display, and I'd appreciate your thoughts if you've had to make a similar decision. Do you find the text large enough? If you like your high-resolution display, what do you use your computer for primarily?
Please let me know if you've read any helpful reviews or comments about the high-resolution screen (other than recent 90-day posts in this forum, which I've already read). Thanks to hiking4ever for your helpful post in the other recent thread.
    Thanks!
    -- Ed

I have the high resolution display, and I just set the fonts bigger for the applications I use in that application's preferences. Foe example, you can go to Safari>Preferences>Advanced and check the Universal Access box. That will allow you to set the fonts at any size up to 24 pt. I set them at 18 pt., and every Safari Application will open in that size. Same for Mail. That way you don't have to change the resolution. I primarily do Safari and Mail and documents now, although I got the high resolution display for photo editing. But I really do like it, and am glad I got it.
    Hope this helps!

  • T430 support P2815q 4k Monitor, and another Sub HD monitor

    Hey All,
I am looking to get a P2815q for work.  need the extra work space for productivity.  What I am concerned about is whether or not the laptop will be able to drive that monitor, plus the existing 1680x1050 monitor I currently have.  I tried to check Intel website for HD 4k max resolution, however, they report that max resolution is dependant upon individual laptop design.  Tried to look up on Lenovo site, and max specified is 2560x1600, which coincidentaly is the most common high resolution monitor resolution.  I suspect this is not a hard limitation.
If anyone knows, and can help me out that would be great.
    Thanks Much
    Mikel.

    Bump.
Exactly same monitor but for the T440s.  Lenovo specifies the same limitation of 2560x1600.  I could order from Dell and try, but it's not like I have tons of free time on my hands to return the monitor if it doesn't work.
    Thanks,
     - Ryan
