High Resolution Photos Don't Display

Hello,
We have a fully patched Lync 2013 installation with a fully patched Exchange 2013 installation. We've moved all users to the Unified Contact Store, and have had all users upload high-res photos. I can test this via the URL like this:
https://server/ews/Exchange.asmx/s/GetUserPhoto?email=[email protected]&size=HR648x648
I can definitely see high-res photos. Unfortunately, Lync doesn't display them! We get the old, low res AD photos that are horrible. I have read through everything I can find to ensure high-res photos are enabled in Lync, but they just don't display.
Any ideas on how to fix / troubleshoot this?
Thanks!
Nolan

Hi, depends what constitutes everything you could find =)
Can you confirm that the 'DisplayPhoto' attribute of your associated client policy is set to allow ALL photo's, and not just those from AD.
Use the below from Lync Management shell to query the attribute status against your client policies.
Get-CsClientPolicy | Select Identity, DisplayPhoto
Kind regards
Ben

  • Is it possible to add high resolution photos to an ipad2 without synchronising it?

    Hi,
I'm looking in to offering potential clients an ipad with all their wedding photos pre loaded, but is it possible to add photos without synchronising each ipad to my mac? When I first got my ipad2, I couldn't use it for anything until I had connnected and registered it with Apple........I have got the camera connection kit, but haven't found a workaround for adding photos without synchronising yet?
I haven't been able to find much info on the subject so far? There must be a workaround?
    Cheers,
    MacSlates

The first thing that currently needs to be done with a new iPad is to activate it by connecting it to a computer that is running iTunes - it can't currently be used 'properly' until after that is done. After iOS 5 is released and is pre-installed on iPads then I think that should change and you will no longer need to first connect to a computer.
The camera connection kit can be used to add high-resolution photos to the iPad, unlike syncing via iTunes where the photos get 'optimised' by the transfer process. If adding the photos to the SD card yourself then you need to create a DCIM directory off the root of the card with the photos underneath it, and the photo filenames need to be exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension i.e. in a similar format as if a camera had created/written them
Otherwise there are third-party apps such as Simple Transfer which can copy photos to/from the iPad from your computer via your wifi network. But photos transferred this way will only go into the Saved Photos/Camera Roll album in the Photos app, not into a 'proper' album - and until iOS 5 is released and installed you won't be able to move the photos between albums on the iPad : from http://www.apple.com/ios/ios5/features.html#photos :
Even organize your photos in albums - right on your device
Also a problem with syncing photos to the iPad via iTunes is that they then need to be on the other person's computer when they then connect to it - otherwise the photos are likely to be removed from the device. Photos copied via the connection kit or copied via third-party apps shouldn't have that problem.

    Hi Stefan,
High-resolution user photos are displayed in Lync 2013 meetings when an active speaker does not have video enabled. Also, moving the mouse over thumbnail photo in the gallery will display the
    high-resolution photo.
Looks like the configurations are correct. Can you reproduce this issue by using Lync 2013 client ?
    Best regards,
    Eric

  • High resolution photos. How to?

I need to e-mail high resolution photos. What is the best way to do this from an iMac, iPad, iPhone?
    thanks!

If for business, uploading to an FTP site rather than e-mailing is the most efficient if teh recipient has one. My editor's email limits him to a small total size fo attachments that is almost always less than my copy and images, but the magazine has an ftp (file transfer protocol) site that is not picky about file size.
You normally use a separate ftp client program on your computer. I use CyberDuck because the publisher recommended it, but I don't think current versions will run on the pre-2006 iMac this forum covers.
If you MUST e-mail, you have to find out ahead of time whether your ISP or the recipient's have limits on file size.
If you elaborate on which iMac variant you have and what Mac OS version you run, we may come up with more targeted recommendation. Right now we're all guessing.

  • Since syncing with iCloud all my photos in my photo app are much lower resolution than they were before. Can anyone explain what happened an how I might get back my high resolution photos?

Since syncing with iCloud all my photos in my photo app are much lower resolution than they were before. Can anyone explain what happened an how I might get back my high resolution photos?

    Thanks again.
Unfortunately I don't have iPhoto (running Windows).
    I did, however, figure out a work-around.
I created an empty directory on my computer, and told iTunes to "Sync Photos from..." that empty directory. This deleted all the photos from the iPod (go figure).
I then set the "Sync Photos from..." dropdown back to directory that actually contained all my photos, and sync'd again.
And, yes, they all loaded onto the iPod at their better, higher resolution.
Thanks for all your help. Photos (and wallpaper) are perfect, again

  • I cannot import high resolution photos into iPhoto on iMac

iphoto shuts down when I try to edit a high resolution photo imported into the application.
these are scanned photos at a resolution higher than 600 dpi.

Sometimes it does not get imported, other times it does and when I try to edit with the quick fixes it crashes.
    Below the latest crash.
The photo is scanned with a multifunction Canon MG6250 in color at the highest resolution.
In preview the photo is displayed well and editing is allowed, but with iPhoto crashes.
    Thanks for any tips,

  • Can not get the high resolution photo from iCloud on the iPhone5s, unless re-share the photo to the iCloud.

after restoring the iPhone, the iPhone can not get the high resolution photo from album of iCloud, unless re-share all the photo to the iCloud.

If you plug up both to computer, open itunes, click "back up to computer" on both (not necessary for the one that's being transferred to) then on the one that's sending data click "back up" in the iTunes menu. It will then back up (if not already done in sync). Now plug up the second one (being transferred to) and on the iTunes menu, click "restore from backup" then choose the device you just backed up, and click "ok" or what it says.
    Hope this helped
P.S. I am referencing to using iTunes <11. Some features I show here might not be available in iTunes 10

  • Exporting Final Cut Movie Frame as High Resolution Photo

    Hello everyone,
Is there a way to take a frame in a final cut movie and export it as a high resolution photo? My supervisor has taken some great video footage and would like to use parts of it to make a calendar. I've tried exporting in quicktime, but the highest resolution I get is 72 dpi.
Even if there's a 3rd party program that will do this if Final Cut won't, please let me know. Thank you!

There are any number of up-rez tools for Photoshop that do a pretty good job of creating pixels where none exist. Simply resampling at a larger size/pixel count often creates acceptable results. But, as stated, there are only a limited number of pixels available: whatever you shot with. If you shot with a fabulous high def (not HDV) camera, you might have as many as 1080x760 some odd pixels.

  • Higher Resolution photos than Adobe Photoshop Touch allows

I am contemplating buying the Adobe Photoshop Touch but I am concerned about how it can only have a maximum image resolution of 1600x1600. I take photos all of the time at a far higher resolution so I am worried that the app won't even work with the photos that I take. If someone could tell me that I would be able to edit my higher resolution photos on this app, then I will buy it with all haste... Thanks

Sorry, it won't.  For whatever reason Adobe decided that PS Touch should only handle 1600x1600 images.  Images of higher resolution are scaled down so you can load and work on your high-res photos, but the output would not exceed the 1600 limit.

  • Editin high resolution photos

In order to edit high resolution photos in Elements taken with a 36 megapixel camera (75 mb/photo), how much RAM does my computer need?

The size of an individual image is not the only nor the main factor. For instance I have just opened together 5 big psd format pictures totalling not 75 Mb, but 1 200 Mb. Panoramas require more RAM than big raw files. I have a Win7 64 bits computer which means I can't use more than 3Gb of RAM of the 8 GB installed.
If you are in PSE12 and in 64 bits on Mac computers, you'll be able to use more RAM.
The obvious answer with your raw file size is to use at least 4 GB RAM.

  • Photo feeds do not download high resolution photo's: why???

    Hi,
I'm using iPhoto '09 to subscribe to photo feeds, unfortunately iPhoto only downloads the low res thumbnails and not the high resolution images that are also included in the feeds. This makes it pretty much worthless, since the low res images are really bad in iPhoto.
Is there a way to convince iPhoto that it should download the picture identified by the URL in the <media:content> tag and not the <media:thumbnail> tag?

  • Change dimensions of 'high resolution photos' for digital printing

    Hi,
We recently placed a huge order, received our photos, and all of them had been blown up larger than what appeared in the album, heads were cut off, arms cut off, pictures were not centered. This was a problem for 4"by6" size, 5"by7", and 8"by10". When we inquired as to why and we were told that because we used 'high resolution' that the photos would come out larger no matter what company we used to process the digital prints. We were told that we could change the dimensions of each photo (squashing the photo to fit) but we don't know how to do that. Also, is there a way to do this to all of the photos at the same time?
Please explain, we don't know what to do at this point.
    We're very sad right now.

The company already told me that they will refund my money so that is not the problem.
The ratio differences is what the person told me initially too, however told me that I could also change the dimensions so that the photos would not be cropped and centered automatically...but that's not what I want to do, as it would leave white space on the sides and top, and I have several that I want to frame.
So what do I do now? I have 100's of pictures and over 90% of them have this problem. I used your software to enhance the photos, crop the photos, etc... but I don't see an area that explains to me what part of the image will be cropped out once they are sent out to print. Nor to I see an area that gives me a rectangular dimension to work from. If I have to crop these pictures to get them to turn out right, I need to get started on this right away.
When I print these on my own printer they seem to print just fine. There are too many to print this way, however.

  • Does the higher resolution of the retina display mean smaller text

    Hi,
I have trouble seeing smaller text, and I am wondering if the higher resolution on the 13 inch macbook pro with retinal display will make Safari's menu and fonts or any other applications fonts smaller and therfore harder to read.
I figured a higher resolution means more can fit on a page and therefore everything is smaller.  Not sure though?

In the Displays Preferences, you can choose the actual resolution you want displayed on the monitor. You're correct that a higher resolution will provide more screen real-estate at the expense of everything, including text, being smaller. You can also choose to make everything larger but less will fit on the screen. You just can't have it both ways unless you get a 27" LED display and plug it into the MacBook Pro. Just don't try to carry it around.
