High school block schedule repeating events
I'm a high school teacher looking forward to the upcoming fall schedule. I teach at a school where even period and odd period classes are taught on alternate days and I teach only odd schedule classes. So, one week the class is taught on Mon, Wed, Fri and the next week it is Tu and Th except for weeks that have holidays. What is the best way to use repeating events and make up the schedule for this semester (ending 1/28/08 so I also know at a glance what days I'm available to substitute for other instructors?

Calendar quits whenever I attempt to schedule a repeat event
I can schedule New Events w/o a problem; but when I attempt to schedule one of those events to repeat Calendar immediately quits and a long error message appears. How can I fix this problem?

Can I add non regular repeating events in the default Calendar?

I've recently been using the Calendar app to try to keep track of my increasingly hectic work schedule. One of my jobs is easy to add as it's on the same day each week, so I can just use the repeating events menu. The other two can be any day of the week, but always the same hours, so if I'm cleaning it's always 8.30 to 14.30, but it can Monday, Wednesday and Thursday this week, Tuesday and Thursday the next, just Monday the next, you get the idea.
What I'd like to do is to be able to add an event called 'cleaning' or 'bar work' to a specific day and have the calendar know that means it needs to block off 8.30 to 14.30 or 20.00 to midnight. It can take me 15 minutes some weeks to enter my work schedule into my phone as it is, and if I'm interrupted while I'm doing it then I have no idea which days I haven't entered yet.
Is this something I can do in the Calendar app? If not, is there another app I can do this in, or at least cut the process down in some way? I've tried looking at other calendar apps, but it doesn't seem to a feature they advertise if they do have it.
Thanks in advanceThe iPhone/iPad version of iCal doesn't have this option, but the Mac desktop version does (assuming you use a Mac). Follow the directions below and then sync your device with your Mac and the repeating event will appear in your mobile device.
Open iCal on the desktop. Make a new event. Double click on the event and then click "edit." Change the repeat option to "Custom..." Select frequency as "monthly." Click the bottom radio button that says "on the" to enable you to set which day to repeat on. Close the event info window and then sync your device.
I hope they enable this option in the mobile software soon. It is a glaring omission for a calendar program.
P.S., sorry, I just noticed you didn't include a Mac in your hardware list. I don't know how you'd accomplish this with Windows. Maybe this post will help someone else, though.

I have 2 calendars set up for my work schedule, a "night shift" and "day shift" calendar. I've set up repeating events fro Fri/Sat/Sun 3-11pm "night shifts" and Mon/Tues 7am-3pm "day shifts". But lets say for example that I swap shifts and instead of working nights on Saturday like I normally would, I am now working days. I want to change that in my calendar. When I go to change the event, if i change the TIME it asks if i want to change all event or ONLY this event. no problem....just this single event. but when i go to change the event from the "night shift" calendar to the "day shift" calendar, it changes ALL the repeating events, and not just that one single event. can anyone help with this??? am i doing something wrong? is there a way to do this or not with the new iCal program??? i used to do this and never had any problems. Thank you!
You need to follow iPhoto terms since we only know what you tell us
what are you calling folders - in iPhoto folders can not hold photos - albums hold photos and folders hold albums or other folders
The basic default view of photo is by event (iPhoto '08 and later)

ICal and Calendar sync one week apart for Repeating events

First Post here. Look forward to sticking around. I have been reading the forum avidly since I received my iphone 3g on July 11th.
So here is the issue: It is in regards to events that I created on my iphone that are scheduled to repeat each week, but then end on a certain day. This works perfectly fine in the iphone so far, but when it syncs with iCal it always ends one week earlier than on the iphone. The iphone will remain the proper date, whereas iCal ends one week early.
I won't go on longer, but has anyone else had this issue? Maybe you should double check your dates if you have any repeated events scheduled in your phone, and compare them with iCal to double check they are right.

Repeated events duplicate in iCal if modified on iOS
I'm posting a more generalized version of this question (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2603361&tstart=0); encountering the same issue on an iPod Touch syncing over USB would seem to indicate that neither MobileMe nor anything specific to an iPhone is at fault. My apologies if this is in violation of this forum's rules of etiquette.
Here's how I phrased it on the Feedback page, where I submitted a bug report regarding this issue:
If a repeating event is created in Calendar on iPod Touch (4.2.1), then synced to iCal using iTunes (USB cable sync, rather than MobileMe), then edited on the iPod Touch (i.e. the date or time is changed for all future events), then the iPod Touch is synced again, this will result in two repeating events in iCal on the Mac: one that reflects the changed version of the event, and one that is the original version of the event, each following their own repeating schedule. Please advise as to possible solutions.
Any help anyone can give would be much appreciated. She's got an iMac mid-2008 running 10.5.8, iCal 3.0.8, iTunes 10.1.1, and her iPod Touch is a fourth-gen running 4.2.1. She's quite angry about this issue, and I fear she's about to give up on Apple entirely as a result.Am facing the same issue with an iPad; but this is not the first time I've seen this happen. It has also happened when syncing from iCal to a Blackberry Curve via Blackberry Desktop Manager. Any repeated events - and not just from the iOS side of things - ANY repeated events cause this to happen.
iCal has the correct number of events and times, but as soon as you sync to another device, it becomes unusable. My wife runs a cleaning business where she constantly has to rearrange schedules for repeating customers. As soon as she does it once, she's got 2 copies of the same. Change the event twice, and suddenly she has 4 copies.

Hello, I am having trouble with one peculiar event type in iCal.
I sync a Palm with iCal via Mark/Space. Fairly trouble-free. However, I have noticed one small bug.
My work schedule repeats over two consecutive days and has different start times every second day. For example, on Monday I work 7:00am -3:00pm, same on Tuesday. But Wednesday and Thursday it's 3:00pm-11:00pm, etc. The third rotation is 11:00 pm and ends at 7:00am. I notice that iCal understands the first two sets (I enter one and make it a "repeating event, end on <the following day>), but for the overnight shift, it only displays the first of the two. That second overnight shift does not show up in any view: day, week, or month. My Palm does display it perfectly. Is this iCal not playing nice with events that span midnight?

Powerbook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.5)Interesting... I've reset my Mark/Space and effectively had the handheld overwrite the iCal and restored all of my calandars. One problem solved. My first problem, the one about the second overnight event, persisted.
I opened iCal, clicked on the first overnight event, then clicked on the day (xx) of the "end on date" 3/xx/06. Just clicking on this one thing made the second overnight event suddenly appear. I hadn't even changed the day, I just highlighted it. I repeated this for each of the buggy overnight events and it fixed each one. -

I've set up custom repeating events before. I work offshore on a fixed schedule, 6 weeks on 3 weeks off. I always start work on a Wednesday and finish on a Tuesday, I've set these up previously as its the easiest way to see if I'm home for a birthday or event of somesort.
However, my schedule has just moved after some time off and now when I set up a new event instead of a perfect 9 week cycle, calenar adds some extra days onto the end of repeating cycles, varying days, sometime 1, 2 or 3 extra.
So, I'm trying to set up my new schedule as follows;
New event - Work
Starts - Wednesday 11/02/15
Ends - Tuesday 24/03/15
Repeat - Custom, Every 9 weeks on Wednesday
End Repeat - After 12 times
Fairly straight forward, my schedule cycle is 9 weeks, so repeat ever 9 weeks on weds, the duration is exactly 6 weeks whilst at work, again fairly straight forward.
This is where I start getting problems,
1st repeat event starts on the correct day (15th April), but the end of the event is 2 days late on 28th June instead of 26th June.
2nd repeat event is the same, starts on the correct day but ends two days late.
3rd repeat event starts correct but ends 3 days late
4th repeat event starts correct but ends 3 days late
This continues, 3 late, 2 late, 1 late, 2 late etc
So I change it to repeat every 63 days, but still get the same error in the length of event?
Can anybody help or is it a flaw in the new version of calendar? I've tried using my iPhone to create the event in the same way but get the same results, extra days on the end?
ThanksIf you do not have the code for the button, and the button, present throughout your timeline travels, then you need to assign the code anytime you leave and return to whatever section(s) it is in. The code only executes in the frame it is in even though you might extend it along the timeline.

Ending date in repeated events bad
In Spanish iCal, at least, when you build a repeating event and try to write the ending date, iCal only shows you one digit for the month day. Then you need to place your selection there and use up/down arrows to reach the desired final date. Since the first digit of that day is not seen you need to imagine it based on the changing month under the arrows up/down scrolling of days!
Am facing the same issue with an iPad; but this is not the first time I've seen this happen. It has also happened when syncing from iCal to a Blackberry Curve via Blackberry Desktop Manager. Any repeated events - and not just from the iOS side of things - ANY repeated events cause this to happen.
iCal has the correct number of events and times, but as soon as you sync to another device, it becomes unusable. My wife runs a cleaning business where she constantly has to rearrange schedules for repeating customers. As soon as she does it once, she's got 2 copies of the same. Change the event twice, and suddenly she has 4 copies.

Bug! Calendar, can't edit single repeating event, iOS 8.1

I've created a repeating event. And now I want to edit one of these events. But when I try to save changes there isn't option to save the single event, only two options: save for future events and cancel.
Delete the event works well — there are three options: single, future,cancel.UPD. if i'm trying to rename the event, i have an option to save for the current event only. But if i'm trying to change type of schedule: from all-day to exact time, i have only the option to save for all future events!

Create Repeating Event in Calendar
I work rotating shifts and can’t figure out how to enter my schedule on my Touch with the current Calendar application.
With my palm-top computer I simply created events titled: Day1, Day2, Day3, Mid1, Mid2, & Mid3. Each of these events were created as repeating events — repeating daily every twelfth day. Then I created Off1, Off2, & Off3 as repeating events — repeating every 6th day.
Or another example would be Mother’s Day. It would be nice to be able to create an event that repeats monthly every 12mo (2nd Sunday of every 12th month).
Is there any way to do something similar that I’m overlooking?

I'd also like to be able to synchronize with my Google calendar.I don't know that it can be turned off, and I don't even use Apple's Calendar much (as a BusyCal user), but you might find it's useful if you learn to use it as intended. That box is pretty smart if you mention the date and location in the box before hitting enter.
Just type the date, time, and place in that "title" box:
"Birthday party Friday 8:00 PM at Joe's Place"
That pops up an event with a start date of the next Friday (e.g., 10/05/2012 today in the US), start time of 8:00 PM, and "Joe's Place" in the location. It strips out the date and time before creating the event title that it pops up; it leaves the location in the title, but the title comes up selected so you can edit it before confirming the event with the "Done" button.
The event is entered in the default calendar, but you can select any calendar by holding down the "+" button a second or two. There may be a way to do it with the menu or the keyboard command-n shortcut, but I haven't found it; you can select another calendar on the popup before hitting the "Done" button. -

There is a verifiable & reproducibly bug with Repeated Events, Deferring Alarms. (Which I use constantly throughout my day and workflow, as it seems others do also.)
Apple support knows about the bug and has bumped it to the engineers.

Is there a way to schedule an event to occur in the future?
I am looking for a generic way to schedule events which are triggered in the future (in LabVIEW without using DAQ).
I already have a way of scheduling future events but it uses a polling thread to keep an eye on the list of times and execute the events and maintain the list. To get higher time resolution it would have to run faster although most of the time there are no events in the queue.
(An 'event' in my queue is currently a cluster of a future time and a boolean control reference).
What I would like to do is queue events (could be user defined events) so that they can be posted at future times without a process having to poll for them.
If I make my polling event wait (e.g. using the ms Timer) then it can't wake up do deal with an event which was queued later but required to be posted sooner.
Any clues?

What time resolution do you want/need? Please be specific. (milliseconds, seconds, etc.)

I think part of the confusion is your generic use of the word "event", while events have a very defined special meaning in LabVIEW. "Polling event" is a contradiction.
So, first of all, do you even use event structures? Can you show us some code? There is probably an easy solution.
For example you could look at the array of scheduled tasks and recalculate a new timeout value for an event structure whenever a new task is added or whenever a task has just executed. No polling needed. In the timeout event, determine which task is ready to execute and launch it. (e.g. via a queue or similar).

Problems with 2009 repeating events
The first time I opened ical this new year I found that many of my repeating events, such as Mother's Day, holidays and just plain events are appearing in incorrect months. The first thing I did was to check to see what the repeating dates were set for and they are all correct. For example Mothers day is set for the second Sunday in May but it is appearing on January 11 2009. The case is the same for many events. Do I have to manually fix them? Is this a bug that will reoccur next year. I have used ical for a number of years and this is the first time I have had such a problem. Any help will be appreciated.
I think I'm having a similar issue. I updated my class schedule this year until May, and now I'm getting all of my events duplicated except the duplicates are moved to later in the day. I've even deleted them and imported them. They are fine at first, then later they duplicate.
