High-speed data acquisition and DMA

Hi, I have a custom home-made 4 channel, 16 bit data acquisition board that has onboard memory of 2 GB and can sample at 250 MSPS. The daq returns data in 1 MB data block size. The Labview wrapper allows us to operate this board in two modes (continuous and acquire once). In acquire once mode, I can use the circular buffer architecture and stream data to the disk (difficult to view data in real-time). The continuous mode work in a way that arims the daq board acquires the data, rel-arms the daq for next 1 MB data and can return data for real-time display. However, during this arm/re-arm time crucial information is lost. The solution would be to access the DMA data as fast as we can and process it. Can you please show me an example to achieve this in simulation mode?
Thanks
RY

Then you say the DAQ time take 1 sec, and the processing time about 4 second. How do you know this? Without having any VIs. And why do you have to read your DAQ unit every second. Also are you sure your processing part of your program is optimal. It is quite easy for a beginner to write Labview code that is very slow then dealing with arrays.
I am quite sure you have some Labview program. But you for some reason do not like the thought of posting your code. Just post them and let us take a look. Hard to help not knowing any thing
Besides which, my opinion is that Express VIs Carthage must be destroyed deleted
(Sorry no Labview "brag list" so far)

  • How can I modify the High Speed Data Reader VI to show correct time information in x-axis?

I am just a beginner learning the LabVIEW programming currently.
I have a PXI 6115 DAQ card and have to make a hardware timed acquisition VI for maximum performance. Thus I use the High Speed Data Logger VI for data acquisition.
However, when I read my data by using the High Speed Data Reader VI, it doesn't show its correct time information in the graph.
How can I modify the High Speed Data Reader VI to show correct time information in x-axis?
I hope you can explain easily because I am a beginner.

    Hey Chunrok,
I've modified the High Speed Data Reader VI slightly so that it now uses the scan rate of the data (as determined from the file) to set the scaling for the data points. If you wanted the start time to be a specific time you could use the start time obtained from your file to set the xscale offset as well.
    I hope this helps!

Format the x axis to either absoulte or relative time.
You can do this by right clickingo n the graph and selecting x axis then formatting from the menu.
    Thanks,

First, I couldn't seem to find that example either on computer or on the NI sites.
The problem that we're running into is stated in the article that I pointed to - when real time VIs are running, then the OS will stop updating the OS clock. TO us it looks like the clock is losing time. There is a hardware clock on the PXI and it is read only during boot up to set the OS clock. Our discussions with NI have not led to a solution for this problem without checking the time on start and then checking the tick count (which does not lose time) and calculating what the current time is. No access to the hardware clock is supplied.
We're still working on a simpler way to get accurate time.

  • How do I use the High Speed Data Logger with multiple I/O devices?

I am using the High Speed Data Logger vi to read from a 16 channel A/D card (NI PCI-MIO-16E). The project may require more than 16 channels. How can I use High Speed Data Logger to read from two A/D cards? Will it be able to write the data to one file?

The High Speed Data Logger vi will not acquire and right to multiple DAQ boards at the same time without modification. LabVIEW is more than capable of doing this what you are trying to do, but you will have to modify the code.

  • Driver missing - PCIe Data Acquisition and Signal .....

Hello, i recently used Boot Camp to install Windows XP on my 2010 15" Macbook Pro.
All the drivers are working (so far) and i haven't encountered many problems.
However, there is one thing bugging me:
When i go into Device Manager in Windows, and look down the list of installed/uninstalled devices, there is a device called "PCIe Data Acquisition and Signal Processing Controller" which has no driver installed.
I'm PC savvy, but i have never seen this before. My guess is that one of the motherboard drivers is missing, and Boot Camp installer doesn't include that driver?
Has anyone seen/resolved this, and if so, how?
    Thanks.
    Kaj.

    Okay, will do.
    Thanks.
Also i wonder if you could help with another problem?

  • E5-571 PCI Data Acquisition and Signal Processing Controller & SM Bus Controller

I upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. Windows Update says that it is up-to-date. Windows Devices Manager shows a problem with two devices: PCI Data Acquisition and Signal Processing ControllerSM Bus Controller What are these devices and where do I locate the drivers for them?

That should do it. I've been pleasantly surprised by how well older drivers are working in Windows 10. I had to install Vista 64bit drivers for an ATI video card (the latest working drivers for the card) and they actually worked!

Hi: Try the chipset driver directly from Intel...the second file is the auto install file. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/20775/Intel-Chipset-Device-Software-INF-Update-Utility- If that driver does not install the PCI Data Acquisition and Signal Processing Controller, which the chipset driver should install, download the first file listed above (zip file). Unzip and extract the contents to its folder. Go to the device manager and click on the above device needing the driver.  Click on the driver tab. Click on Update driver.  Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and browse to the unzipped driver folder. Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked, and see if the driver installs that way. Then reboot.

  • Lenovo 14 20DM correct driver for 'Data Acquisition and Signal Processing Controller'

Hi Everyone, I am the happy owner of a new Yoga 14 20DM. A few days ago I made the decision to upgrade to Windows 10. Whilst the upgrade went smoothly I did have to install a number of drivers manually. At the moment I am stuck on trying to install the 'PCI Data Acquisition and Signal Processing Controller' (as shown below).  I have tried right clicking on the device then selecting Properties > Driver (tab) > Update Driver > Search automatically for updated driver software, however doing so only shows the screen capture below!  Furthermore I have searched the Lenovo support page for a suitable driver however none is available! http://support.lenovo.com/au/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-yoga-series-laptops/thinkpad-yoga-14/20dm?TabName Finally I have also installed, and run, 'System Update 5' the software program available from Lenovo. However it was not able to install a correct driver for this device. I have done a little searching on this topic, and have read a couple of stories about people installing an incorrect driver for this device, and then experiencing blue screens! Can anybody suggest how I can go about locating and installing the correct driver for this device? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Kind Regards, Davo

Hi Ingemann, Ultimately I decided on the newest version of the Intel Chipset Device Software (INF Update Utility), which at this time (on the Intel website) is version 10.0.27. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/20775/Intel-Chipset-Device-Software-INF-Update-Utility- Interestingly enough I was presented with the message below when I ran this executable.  I selected Downgrade (with some trepidation), and after rebooting was pleasantly surprised to see that the troubled device was missing from the list. I can only assume that this means the correct drivers were installed. Thanks you very much for your help. Kind Regards, David

  • 1921 15Mbps high speed WAN question and suitability

    Hi All,
I'm looking for some advice on router suitability for the following scenario:
I require an inter vlan router to route approx 200 devices consisting of 150x PC's (Physical & Virtual) and 50x IP Phones.  There will only be a maximum of 5x VLANs.  The router will be primarily used for inter VLAN routing as well as routing to the outside world.  Potentially we may add some ACL's for protecting inter VLAN traffic, but that's basically it.
The router will be connected to the outside via ethernet and a Cisco ASA 5505.  The ASA will provide NAT/Firewall/QoS and packet shaping functionality.  The ASA 5505 is connecting to the outside via cable modem providing 80Mbps down/20Mbps up.
I'd like to understand if the 1921 is suitable for this task specification wise, in addition to confirming the following statement which appears on the datasheet:
'The Cisco 1900 Series enables deployment in high-speed WAN environments with concurrent services enabled up to 15 Mbps.'
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/routers/1900-series-integrated-services-routers-isr/data_sheet_c78-598389.html
I assume the above statement is is only effective when used in conjunction with a HWIC and not relevant in my scenario where connection will be via Ethernet and the ASA5505/Cable modem?
The other reason for querying this is a supplier is trying to push me towards a 2911, due to in their opinion that the 1921 is under spec'd for our requirements?
I'd really like to hear some honest answers on this.  I've seeked some advice elsewhere and had some mixed opinions.  I'm more than happy to  go with a 2911 if it's going to be better suited for our needs, but I really don't see how a 1921 won't be suited for our needs?
    TIA
    Kevin

  • I want to acheive digitally triggered data acquisition and using AIO lines for triggering connecting to PFI lines but no response.

How to acheive digital data acquisitions using AO signals as trigger signal.

    Greetings,
I am not sure that I have a clear understanding of your question. It appears that you want to perform a triggered acquisition. You mentioned both analog input (AI) and analog output (AO). Which type of operation are you performing? Are you using digital or analog triggering? Also, it would be helpful if you could mention what hardware and software you are using.

  • Measurement Probe Data Acquisition and Calculation

    Hi there,
Can we make data acquisition from measurement probe ? I mean, can we put the data to the grapher so we can "convert" it to excel or something ? I need to show the V(dc), V(p-p), I(dc), I(p-p), etc... in the grapher view.
    Second, according to my reference, V(dc) = V(p-p)/phi or 0.318 x V(p-p) , where phi = 3,14
    This also contribute to current, I(dc) = I(p-p)/phi or 0.318 x I(p-p)
In the calculation, MultiSim will use 0.333... or 0.32 and the result will be in quite different. So, anyone can tell me where can I get the formula which MultiSim used to calculate the circuit ?
