High speed switch in Cisco Lay 2 or Lay3

Hi,
One of our customer is looking high speed data transfer so that pls guide us high speed data transfer switch model in cisco L2 or L3 ??
Regards!
Ak

Ummmm ... You gotta be more specific than this.  It's like going to a car showroom and telling the salesperson "I want a vehicle.".
You want a Layer 2 or Layer 3 switch?
Define "high speed"?  10/100/1000/10000 are considered as "high speed".  Which one?
Budget?
You want all copper ports or fibre/SFP ports or a combination?
What are you trying to transfer?  PC?  Servers?

  • I just set up an Optus Cisco DPQ3925 wireless router to access higher speed internet I signed up for. I have a 4th gen airport extreme I want to put in another room and use as a wifi extender the wifi but I get an error message each time I try. Help?

    Hello all.
I have just set up a new cisco DPQ3925 wireless router that Optus sent me to be able to access the higher speed internet I have signed up for.
I have a 4th gen apple extreme that I want to use to extend the wifi but when I try to update the settings via the airport utility I get a message that says it cannot do so, and to check it is in range and the wifi is set up correctly. I'm not experienced with these things but I can't think what I have done wrong.
Is anybody able to help me please.

You cannot use the AE to extend wireless from a non apple router such as your cisco modem router.. they are not compatible..
You need to tie to the two devices together either with ethernet or something like EOP adapters.. They are about $120 and you can price match in officeworks.

Calculate?  Calculate for wirespeed/line-rate?  If the latter, take all the port bandwidths, and assuming they are duplex, double for necessary fabric bandwidth.  I.e. 48 gig ports would need a 96 Gbps fabric.  Take all your port bandwidths, and allow 1.448 Mpps per gig (for minimum size Ethernet packets), i.e. 48 gig ports would need 69.5 Mpps.  Once you have required fabric bandwidth and PPS, you can compare to vendor's specs.

  • I chat freezes after switching to high speed cable

3 weeks ago we purchased a new I Mac and set up I chat video conferencing with an AIM account. It worked well, with only a few break-ups in the video. At that time we were using a DSL connection-our buddy (Mom) a 2 yr. old I Mac on high speed cable. We switched to high speed cable 2 weeks ago and from that point on I Chat hasn't worked. We connect for a second and then the picture freezes and we get an error msg. We have had our "Mac Doc" out twice and talked to the cable guys- everyone seems stumped and so far nothing has helped. Any ideas on how we can fix this would be greatly appreciated.

  • Switching to High Speed

Since I am in a rural area dial-up was my only option until this week. I've just switched over to high-speed (ADSL). Its fabulous and I've only been on for about 45 minutes. My question is regarding security. With dial-up it was a non-issue, I didn't load sites with lots of graphics, pictures, video etc. And it would have been impossible to download security updates anyway. But I am sure my kids will be on all kinds of social networking and gaming sites now, and I will be doing banking, online purchases, email and tax returns on this computer.
Any advise would be very appreciated.

Well, consider in addition solutions like time-based access list (internet access allowed at only specific hours) or content filtering (some sites are denied).
About host security: maybe you perceive dial-up is more secure since you arent always on, but in fact, you are exposed to internet just like a common DSL. This is especially true if you use a modem...

  • Urgent problem! please help. high speed digitizer, channel switch time too long!

Dear all NI high speed digitizer experts:
I post a question concerning the two-channel configuration using NI5154 digitizer (see Need help to configure a two-channel acquisition using NI5154 ).
As we need to do some measurement using NI5154 very soon so purchase a DAQ board as suggested by Efrain is not a option for our coming experiment. So I try to configure the NI5154 a two channel acquisition. I configure the NI5154 to count pulse in two channels. Our experimental setup will send pulse to channel 0 for 400 ms and then stop. 100 ms later pulses from other source will be send to channel 1 for 2 s.  I thought the 100ms dead time in our setup would be long enough for the digitizer to switch from channel 0 to channel 1. But after some test I found the digitizer takes more time to switch between channels.
I made a test vi (NISCOPE-Timing.vi) just for count how many ms it takes for the digitizer to switch between channels. In the attached vi, if you run for only one channel one loop takes about 20 ms in my pc. If you run for two channels it takes about 130 ms for one loop. If you just run one channel twice the loop time is about 40 ms (I mean stop a channel and then restart the that channel).
I don't understand why it takes so long to switch from channel 0 to channel 1.  As I tested the niScope Commit.vi consumes a lot of time for the second channel. Is there any way to avoid this? We can not extend the 100ms long dead time of out set up so I must get rid of this problem.

    Hi Lixin,
There are a couple of different options that you may try. The first, which it sounds like you may not prefer, is to use the TRIG line on the 5154 and somehow find a way to route both sets of pulses to that line. You can either somehow connect both lines to the one input or use some sort of external switch since the signals will not come in at the same time.
Unfortunately, what you re seeing in terms of the time it takes the board to reconfigure itself for a different trigger channel and re-inititiate is due to the settling time that is necessary for the board to be able to fully reach its specifications. The majority of settling usually occurs pretty quickly, but the board will wait for some time to get the best possible performance in terms of specs. If you are okay with reducing this settling time (and very slightly diminish the specified performance), then you can use an internal scope property to set the max settling time.
I have attached a .rc file which must be placed in the LabVIEW directory for niScope to enable use of this property node. Please place the file in your ...\Program Files\National Instruments\<LabVIEW 2009>\instr.lib\niScope directory. Once the file is in that directory, restart LabVIEW, and you should be able to see a new category in the niScope Property Node tree titled "Internal". Under that category, you will have the Max Settling Time property, which gives the driver a maximum amount of time (in seconds) to wait for settling before beginning a new acquisition. Add this new property to your first property node at the beginning of your program. I tested this out with a value of 50 ms and found that my initiate went from ~125 ms to ~53 ms or so after reconfiguring the trigger channel and re-initiating.
    Hope this helps!

  • Cisco 4-Port Async/Sync Serial High-Speed WIC

As per the document of the above hardware, a speed of 230kbps can be achieved using PSTN lines. However it is not mentioned what end to end infrastructure we need to achieve 230kbps using PSTN lines.
what i understand that I need cisco 1800/2800/3800 series router and cisco Async/Sync High speed WICs at both end and PSTN line.
Could some have idea/implemented such a solution using above hardware/infrastrcuture to achive 230kbps using PSTN lines.

    Hi,
Many modern devices can exceed the low known speeds of asynchronous communication (38,400 and 57,600 bit/s being common, and 115,200 and 230,400 bit/s making occasional appearances) while still using RS-232 compatible signal levels.

  • Compaq Presario model SR5710F hangs/freezes when cpu cooling fan switches to higher speed

Compaq Presario SR5710F with AMD Athlon X2 4450e dual core micro-processor - after the desktop has been on for a little while, I can hear the cpu cooling fan switch to a higher speed. As soon as the fan changes speed, the PC locks up. Power off/on is only option to recover. A precursory inspection did not reveal any noticeable build-up of dust/debris around case fan or cpu fan. Any suggestions?

    Hello DTCothren,
You state whenever your CPU fan goes to a higher speed the computer locks up, is that corret? I will try to assist you with this issue.
I would recommend you open up the hardware diagnostic tool on your computer, and run a full system test. This test does take some time so just allow it to run. If you not sure how to locate the program have a look at this document.
Please respond back at your earliest convenience.

  • Comcast  Cable High Speed Service-No offered Firewall,Virus protection,etc

I just switched to Comcast "High Speed" Cable internet service from Earthlink dial-up.Unfortunately the suite of security products offered are not Mac compatible. What are the most effective products out there for security for Mac's? Thanks
    IMac G5   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    Hi, garyah and ~Bee!
I'm writing to echo Bee's words of encouragement.
I also have Comcast + a Cisco router. As far as I'm concerned, the router's firewall is extra gravy — OS X's is fine. Enabling this firewall "built-in" to OS X 10.3.9 that ~Bee mentioned is a simple matter: System Preferences »» Sharing »» Firewall »» Start. Mac Help »» type in "firewall" and »» "sharing" will provide you with ~all you want to know. [1]
Beyond this, imo, common-sense resistance to "social engineering" is the best protection — i.e., think before opening an email attachment or launching an .exe file from a potentially dubious source, etc...
Security remains one of the subtle pleasures of Mac ownership. [fingers crossed!]
    Warm regards,
    Dean
[1]   Various "Services" may need to have ports "On" in Sharing — but each port opened to enable network services is unprotected, even with the firewall running. This is good to keep in mind, too.
Hey, ~Bee — what'd'ya mean none of Comcast's perq's are Mac-compatible? Don't Comcast Mail and "The Fan" work for you? </giggle>   While this context is handy, have you ever used their "Personal Web Page service?" My son's bugging me to put up a web page, and I'm a true neophyte...

  • How do I setup high speed internet on Sun Solaris 10?

    Hello,
I have comcast high speed internet. It doesn't work automatically. How can I setup my high speed internet connection to work with Sun Solaris 10?
    Mateusz

Pickup a broadband router, made by dlink, linksys, netgear, SMC or Cisco. If possible get a wireless with 4 port switch built in. This will give you added flexibility if you happen to get another system or a wireless laptop. You want a gateway router that does NAT, SPI firewall, DHCP.
Plug it into your cable modem then into your sun box, default settings on the router will generally self configure to the broadband you connect to and there will be no problems. However if you are using a DSL or bigpond they require a username and password to get the line active, this requires an initial login to the firewall to pick PPoE on the WAN side.
Different brands default to different 'non routeable' internal IP's, all are 192.168.x.x, smc defaults to 192.168.1.x or 192.168.2.x depending on release date, Linksys defaults to 192.168.2.x as does linksys, Netgear defaults to 192.168.1.x, the owners manual will usually tell you this.
They are generally made to default to a windows box so configuring a unix box has to be done either manually or with the dhcp option. www.dslreports.com has alot of good vendor specific information on configuring these things.
At any rate you need to create a file in /etc called 'defaultrouter' with the routers IP address, in the smc case it would be 192.168.2.1, pick a couple of outside DNS servers and put them in a file in /etc called resolv.conf in the format
    nameserver xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
    nameserver xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
    copy nsswitch.dns nsswitch.conf
pick an address in the 192.168.2 range like .25 and add it in the /etc/hosts file, create a hostname.hme0 file with the host name thats in the hosts file and reboot.
Then try to ping the router, if no ping then the chang the 3td octet 1 instead of 2 and try again.
I've never tried doing the .dhcp thing but I've never used dhcp for a sun box before because all I do is servers.
I think I'd try the DHCP thing first then get to the router to get all it's information and write it down. Usually the ISP will populate the router with dns servers and any dns requests are answered by the router in the dhcp configuration. I think thats about it...

  • How do i change the http setting to high speed

how do i change the http setting to high speed ???

Are you experiencing problems with a slow connection in Firefox?
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
Another possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you about that, maybe after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox.

  • Counting TTL pulses at high speed

    Hi all,
I am using PCI-6221 board with DAQmx to count the number of TTL pulses (which varies in its frequency between 0Hz to 10MHz) at a high speed (200,000 samples/sec.) and I am having a problem when the TTL pulse frequency drops below a certain level.
I am using CTR0 to generate continuous pulse train at 200kHz frequency to feed to CTR1 Gate input. I verified that the pulse train is being generated fine.
I am using CRT1 with buffered counting to collect the count for 200,000 samples at a time (duration of 1 sec.). I got the example code (Cnt-Buf-Cont-ExtClk) and pretty much used it as is.
CTR1 Gate is coming from CTR0 Out, which is 200kHz pulse train with 50% duty cycle, and CTR1 Source is the TTL signal that I am trying to count. At first, I thought that everything was working fine with the Source signal being at around 5MHz. Then, when I had the Source signal down below about 300kHz, I noticed that the program is taking longer than 1 sec. to collect the same 200k samples. Then, when I got the Source signal down to 0Hz, the program timed out.
I am guessing that somehow the counter is not reading for the next sample when there has been no change to the count, but I cannot figure out why and how.
Any information on this and a way to get around would be greatly appreciated.
    Kwang

One thing you can try is to set the counter input CI.DupCounterPrevention property, this setting will filter the input, it is possible that when the ctr 0 is slow then many of the values you are counting become zero as well and are filtered out, since they are nolonger points, the counter will not collect enough points before the time-out occurs and the counter input read times out.  I am not sure if this is your issue but I found out the hard way that this occurs when I switched to daqMX where this feature was added.  Let me know if it worked,

  • How can I get the Firefox browser to work with my high speed internet?

After switching from dial-up to high speed internet, I can no longer open the Firefox browser (which I was using) even after downloading the latest version. It is set for my default, but I can only use IE to browse. What else do I need to do to make it work?

You didn't tell me it was a user name password issue.
    Open Keychain Access. (Applications/Utilities)
    Select Passwords on the left.
    Delete the Delta keychain.
Now from your Safari menu bar click Safari / Preferences then select the Autofill tab. Make sure:  User names and passwords is selected.
Navigate to the Delta site. Login with your user name and password. You should be prompted to save that info to a new keychain.

  • Upgrade to High Speed Internet Enhanced : Not working

I recently upgraded my internet connection to High Speed Internet Enhanced (7.1 Mbps to 15 Mbps) from my old plan which had a speed of 1Mbps to 3.1Mbps. The order status indicates that the service has been activated. But still I am experiencing only the old speed (approx 2.5 Mbps only). Can anyone help?

Could you post your modem's Transceiver Statistics for us? If you don't know how to get them, finding your modem make and model and posting it up will help us help you get them.
One key thing to lay out on the table, if it isn't a stats issue it's possible 3Mbps/768kbps is your max speed due to your line coming from a Remote Terminal or DSLAM rather than the CO itself. Remotes are currently capped at 3Mbps, with the exception of a few meant to act as Mini-COs due to the lack of capacity going to them, and especially due to some of them being quite old. This is something for a person with the right level of access to the network or your account to find out. I've got someone who will check and turn up the speed if possible but we need to see the stats first.
