High temp on cpu 2

i get 48 c on cpu 2 and 35 on cpu 1 on my k7d. What's going on  8o ??iis it a bug ? is bios update useful (i have the 1.3) ?
thx

First of all, its usually best to give some information first. What processor types are you using, where you are getting the temp readings, etc.
As a general heading, I would check to see what temp the BIOS is reading to confirm (if thats not where you are getting them). If you are using AthlonXP's then those temps are both survivable. Try putting them under load and see what you get.
Also, if you have the desire and ability, check out your heatsinks to be sure they are properly mounted. Now that I think of it, your readings may not be the same in theory. On a multiprocessor system the work is not divided evenly, but allocated as necessary. You may very well have different readings on each processor according to how much work each one is doing. Yeah, a 13 degree celsius difference sounds a bit far, but its possible. How is your airflow in your case? Is one CPU in a more isolated area?
Just things to think about.

I bought a  HP ENVY TouchSmart 15-j063cl Notebook PC (ENERGY STAR) last November and have been experiencing high temps and loud fans at very little CPU usage or strain. When I am streaming video often times I will hear the fan speed up every once and awhile and the TZ00 will be at about 60 degrees Celsius. I recently tested the system by playing Arma 3 on minimum graphics with shadows disabled and within  a minute of playtime the fan was blaring and the TZ00 was at just under 80 degrees Celsius. I did this test with the laptop elevated on a metal stand leaving the main exhaust completely clear and the majority of the bottom also clear. During the test the CPU usage was at about 20% maxing at 30% and I was getting about 35 FPS.

I might sound weird but sometimes CPU runs hot in a loop. If you check in Task manager, it peaks at 3.2 GHz and won't come down. This situation is because of bios problems and HP won't confirm this problems as it is their way. I solved by reducing the processor maximum power to 80% in power options. From then, CPU wont peak itself as there is a limit and won't stay in the loop. Hot air coming from left vent is solved.
But if the chasi is becoming hot while air from vents is less hot than metal chasi, then I think its CPU fan problem. I prefer you to clean the vents by disassembling the laptop though nearest HP service or local service guy. Just clean the CPU fan and coolant pipes running around the CPU and GPU. Im not an HP expert but I found these are the issues for over-heating. Remember 60 degree is considered normal temp for i7-4700 processor. But, if you feel its hotter then check it once. Don't hesitate.

  • MSI GT683 DXR CPU high temps

    Hello,
I have this wounderful gaming laptop for 2 months but I have some problem with CPU. Few days ago I was plaing BFH and suddenly my computer started to low GPU usage and shuted off like u will hold shut down button. When I started again I hadn't screen about wrong shuting down(safe mode etc.). Now when I play BFH my CPU temp, like ThrottleStop, OCCT, CPUID Hardware Monitor shows, comes up to 97 degree, 80-85 awerage. When it comes to 90 Cooler starts to work on his highs to lower temp to 80-85 than again works normally. When I start on Cooler Boost technology CPU temp is about 70. My question: are these temp good or to high. I think this is gaming laptop and it shouldn't have any problems with BFH. Should I turn on all the time Cooler Boost ?
Of course when it comes to high temp I notice performance decrease. Normally I have 100 FPS but it lowers to 70 or even to 35.
    Sorry for my English
    Cheers Barbatian

No overclock! Don't be too surprised by the fact that 1333 is less than 1600. So what you should do is set the memory speed down. Down to something your AMD processor likes. Strictly speaking, running at 1600 should only be done after a heavy processor overclock.
Talk to "viper" about it: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=152798.0
So, please set memory to run at 1333 to gain stability and fix your temp. issue.

  • Very high temp, but no problems at all!!!

Ok I got this k7n2-l last month. When I installed it with my 1800 xp, the temps would hover about 60 to 75 c. So I went and bought a new cpu cooler( therm vol 7) adn applied some artic silver 2. no change in temps. this cpu ran like 30 to 40c in my old k7s5a board with retail cpu fan.  So I went and bought a xp 2200. and had them install it pro installed with retail cpu fan and thermal pad. now my temp hover between 70 and 100 c. the funny thing is I have never had a crash or any system problems what so ever. And I play counter-strike everyday. I ordered a ther volc 9 with some artic silver 3.  But doesnt this seem weird. that I get these high temps and my system is very stable. I even oc'd the 2200 to a 2400  and get the same temp readings. I think the temp is wrong. Oh and I'm reading it from the bios and pc alert 4. what do you guys think?

With a Duron 800 and a Thermalright SK-5 and a 60 MM fan blowing about 12 CFM i was sitting around 120 F. I installed a Valcano 9 and the temp whent up to 131 F. I thougth i installed it wrong so i took it off, cleaned it and re aplied some Arctic Alumnia and the temp was stilla round 130 F. I took it off, put the SK-5 back on and it dropped to around 124 F. I took the 80 MM fan off the Valcano 9 and placed it on the SK-5. The temp whent down to around 118 F. Needless to say the Valcano 9 heatsink is a peice of . Or my first generation old ass SK-5 is badder asser. But i dought that seeing the I was getting the same temps with a $8 CoolerMaster.
Now with my Athlon 1700+ @ 195x10 I hover around 127 - 131 F with the Thermaltake fan from the Valcano 9 at its lowest setting, compleatly silent, spinning about 2500 RPM's.
I attached the sensor from the Valcano 9 to the bottem of the Proc whith some thermal tape. With a little re-wiring i ran it into my Vantec NXP 201. What ever it reports is usally around 3 - 5 C lower then the Bios. Usually around 48 C. I thought the Bios temps where way off. But now lookign at it i'm not so sure they are. If the temp in the Bios is being taken fromthe core of the Proc and the temp on the Vantec Nesus is being taken from the bottom of the proc, and theres only a free degrees difrence, i'm not sure the Bios is wrong.
This is on an ILSR BTW..

  • N660TI 2GB PE/OC - increased temp after cpu upgrade

so its like this, i recently upgraded my cpu from an old 3-core Athlon II to an i5-4690k, and i find that my gpu is running much warmer than it has as long as ive owned it, both in terms of peak temp and average load temp. ive had to adjust the fan profile to keep it cool, which of course makes much more noise. ive also noticed that the outboard fan (closest to the bracket&video out connectors, doesnt even spin unless the fan is set to 86%, which undoubtedly conttributes to the heat problem.
i DID take a can of compressed air to the heat sink and fans while i had my system apart installing the new cpu, but it still has a bit of dust on the underside of the fans that i cant get too, unless i take off the entire heatsink, which im not about to do. case has dustfilters on all the major intakes as well, so its not like suddenly it grew dust bunnies in the past 3 days
settings and such here: hxxp://imgur.com/a/ykjm8 (replace hxxp with http, duh)
i bought this 660ti the day they came out, so its about 2.5 years old or so. generally speaking, load temp was mid-50s C, or low 60s if its really hot. the absolute peak ive seen in all that time was 76, which is what the scale on the afterburner graph is set at. after installing the i5, load temps (guildwars 2 for sake of exmaple) are are mid-60s, and ive seen a peak of 78.
specific model again is teh msi N660TI power edition/over clock 2gb, (which i guess is one of those that had a voltage regulator bypass, according to tomshardware), gpu bios is stock, latest nvidia drivers 347.52 WHQL, msi afterburner 4.1.0, no overvolting, stock clocks (athlon couldnt keep up with overclocking anyway and it runs too warm to overclock now) graphs are shown under load with guildwars 2, high quality settings at 1920x1080 windowed, vsync@60fps, in characters home instance. the fan profile shown is after i bumped it up, high mark was around 70%/70c at the time.
droping the power level in afterburner to 57% helps the temp a bit, as does underclocking it as far as it'll go. i also have a 12cm fan i could install in my case's side panel, right next to the gpu, to draw air out (cause thats where the gpu exhausts at), i also have another 12cm fan installed at the bottom of the case blowing up towards the gpu roughly in line with the inboard gpu fan.
anything i can do about that one fan? i dont really want to have to run at 90% fan speed all the time to keep it cool (especially with summer comming up, no A/C here, gonna get hot as balls) or is it time to upgrade?

    Hi,
I might be wrong here, as I don't know much about AMD CPUs, however I think that your old 3 core Athlon was bottlenecking the GPU which did not let it use its full power.  Now with your i5 Haswell Refresh, it uses its full potential which cause slightly higher temps.
You could reapply thermal paste on the graphics card (done at your own risk) if you don't have warranty on it any longer. If you do, then contact MSI in your country and ask if you can do it (obviously if you damage something then warranty is void)

  • Help on overclocking i7 860 on P55 Gd65 w/ high temp

I just recently resolved certain issues with my new build computer. So i now tried using OC Genie and cpu frequency overclocked to 3.41 GHZ with V core at 1.4 volts . I am already contended with that amount of increase however at 88% load the temp would reach 77 C at a room temperature 31 C. I guess that temp. is at a dangerous level so i turned off OC Genie. Then i tried to overlock it thru windows using the Control Center software provided by MSI. Under it i just went to Basic Overclocking wherein there are four (4) preset settings. I clicked on Game and the cpu overclocked to 3.116 GHZ and at 88% load the temp would reach as high as 68 C (room temp at 31 C). Temperatures were monitored thru the used of Real Temp.
I would want to reach at least 3.4 Ghz thru the use of OC Genie but those high temp made me reluctant to keep it at such speed. So at the moment i am just @ 3.1 Ghz and i am not even sure if at such speed or frequency that 68 C (88% load) is safe or not.
I changed my cpu cooler to a much larger one which is a Thermaltake Frio with 2 fans (push and pull configuration)  and even reinstalled it but still no improvement.
I have read reviews wherein many where able to overclocked to as high as 3.8 Ghz and even 4 Ghz with this cpu cooler with no problems regarding temperature.
At first i thought of purchasing a Noctua NH DH14 but to my dismay that is not available here in the Philippines so i settled with Thermaltake Frio.
My case Cm Storm Sniper  has enough fans but still the temp will still go that high if the cpu is overclocked to 3.4 Ghz.
I want a lower cpu temp so i can overclocked it a little bit higher.
Please help and thanks in advance.

In my opinion, this proves that the crucial factor in your case is the ambient temperature.  And that means that the best way to get the system running cooler is to either keep the room temperature down or change the cooling method to something more effective @high ambient temperatures.

  • Help! Kernel_task using high percentage of CPU.

    Hi guys,
I am using Macbook Pro with Retna. Recently my macbook started to slow down while making loud fan noise. I noticed that Kernel Task was using high percentage of CPU (aroung 600). This is not the first time. Last time I took it to apple store and got fix, but this time I can not do that because my warrenty expired.
I tried to fix it by formating the macbook, but it did not work.
Could anyone help me with this?!?

Do SMC reset. how u do it???????.... well connect the magsafe adapter to the mac, Shutdown the mac. Then Hold ctrl+opt+shift+power button for 6-8 sec. Leave all the keys and have a watch on the Magsafe, the amber should turn Green the moment u leave all the keys indicating a successfull Reset. Then unplug the magsafe wait fro 3 sec plug it again. Start the machine , still the issue is there then finally do a PRAM/NVRAM reset holding cmd+opt+p+r as u start the machine. Machine would chime Twicce on the 3rd chime leave all the keys. Even after this doesnot do good then battery reset is required for which u ll hav to take it to Apple service store.

  • GTX260-OC High Temps all of a sudden

My N260GTX-T2D896-OCv2  temperature is going up to 99C.  I always had the fan speed set to 60% and before the temp wouldn't go past 65C.  I cleaned whatever dust there was and tried again with same result.  Now my fan speed is at 75% and the temp is holding at 74C.  What's happening?  Should I reinstall the nvidia drivers, maybe something is causing the reading to be inaccurate?
I checked the temp with msi afterburner(using this to increase fan speed), gpu-z, hwmonitor.
    Thanks

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127409  I bought the card 2/22/09
This is what I'm doing.. I launch world of warcraft and sit on the login screen and watch my temps go up.  It's never been above 65C(on 60% fan speed) , ever , until now.  I have to keep the fan speed above 75% or the card will get to 99C like it did earlier today when I decided to check. PCB temp is high too, 59C.   I reinstall nvidia drivers and still same thing, high temps and I'm only using 84% of the GPU too.. if it was any higher who knows how hot it will get.

  • Strange thermocouple readings at high temps

I am having trouble reading my thermocouples at high temps. I have a 9074 cRIO with a 9211 thermocouple module connected to 3 K-type thermocouples. The thermocouples monitor 3 heat zones of a giant furnace, in which the zones can be turned on and off using a solid-state relay. When turned on, the thermocouples read the temperature normally up to 800 degrees C. However, when it goes past 800 degrees, it may seem to be reading normally, but when you switch different heater relays on or off, the thermocouple reading changes significantly some times. This does not happen below 800C. See attached pictures, and assume the first picture is the correct base temperature:
When I attached the first zone to an external thermocouple reader with its own digital display, I do not see this drastic change when switching the relays on and off. It stayed relatively constant.
Why am I seeing such a big change with the 9211 module? I am not processing the signal in any way, just a direct read-through, and the module itself is set to read K-type thermocouples. The heater contactor and the thermocouples are relatively far away.
    Any help is appreciated.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Craig,
Yes, I was able to resolve this issue. a LabVIEW field engineer suggested this solution and it worked. See Section 3 Measuring Floating (Nonreferenced) Sources at this link:
    http://www.ni.com/white-paper/3344/en/#toc3
The source of the problem was instrumentation amplifier input bias currents, which was causing the voltage level of the floating source to be moved out of range. I needed to add bias resistors to provide a DC path from the instrumentation amplifier inputs to the instrumentation amplifier ground and anchor this voltage level to some reference. I followed FIgure 10 and added two 100 kOhm resistors for each of my thermocouples. Since then, I did not get anymore fluctuating readings.
    Hope this helps,
    Linus

Take it back. Dont try to trouble shoot. I just upgraded to the new ipad last week. Mine doesnt do that. It doesnt even get that "hot" like people say. A little warmer, yes. It should no way keep restarting due to temperature. If someone here says its normal, they are full of crap. Dont screw around with it, just take it back asap and explain it to apple. I already read that thread
In it is mentioned igswd_mt i.e watchdog thread automatically restarts the port watcher process igspw_mt rt
    Also 1 more thing
in transaction SIGS , in the adiministration menu there are no incoming calls i mean the calls graph is at 0
now the mux process listens the call from listener and forwards it to port watcher rt
now as no calls are the mux should not be active rt?
