High usage in memory

Dear All,
I have a situation here that high usage of system memory, When i check in st22  i cud see only short dump relating to it.
I checked in st06, 80 % of my memory is being used, only 20 % left.
When i check the same in sm37 and there are only three jobs running which took only low memory.system is paging, How do i exactly find out which job is taking high consumption of my memory.
where can i check all these.
Rgds,

Hi,
When you activate an InfoCube, rebuild an aggregate, delete the data of an InfoCube or perform other operations, the SAP BW system creates fact tables. By default, data compression is not activated in these cases. However, usually the numeric values in a fact table are correlated or are located in a small segment of the value range. For this data, you can achieve good compression rates with less memory space requirements and a better utilization of the DB2 buffer pool and, therefore, less input and output.
Reduces application server access to Database. Ie.g. set the number range buffer for one dimension to 500, the system will keep 500 sequential numbers in memory SAP OSS note 130253: Notes on upload of transaction data into BW
After the load, reset the number ranges buffer to its original state: minimize unnecessary memory allocation.

  • SQL Developer - High usage of memory !

    Hello All,
I have downloaded SQL Developer 4 today and when i started working on it, my computer memory started to IRK a lot. So when i checked in "Task Manager", i found something very strange.
The memory consumption was too high (almost 350 MB). Can someone tell me why is this version of SQL Developer is using such as huge amount of memory or is there some workaround for this issue.
I tried to attach the screenshot but that did not happen.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Aravind S

Why is that number, 'too much?'
What Windows reports is rarely accurate with Java applications.
How much RAM do you have on your machine, and how much was free when your machine started to misbehave?

    Hi Renji,
This is a known defect CSCtn87921 and its caused by a memory leak in BIPPA service
-Please follow the workaround of restarting the BIPPA service from serviceability section on both servers if present

  • Shared memory (System V-style) - High usage of phys memory and page outs

    Hi!
I get a much higher usage of physical memory when I use shared memory than I would expect. Please, I would really need someone to confirm my conclusions, so that I can revise my ignorance in this subject.
In my experiments I create a shared memory segment of 200 MB and I have 7 processes attaching to it. I have a ws of 1 GB.
I expect to see what I see when I attach to the shared memory segment in terms of virtual size, i.e. SIZE in prstat. After attaching (mapping it) to the process all 7 processes are about ~203 MB each and this makes sense. RSS, in prstat, is about 3 MB for each process and this is ok to me too.
It is what I see when each of the 7 processes start to write a simple string like 'Hello!' in parallel to each page in their shared memory segment that I get surprised. I run out of memory on my ws after a while and the system starts to wildly page out physical memory to disk so that the next 'Hello!' can be written to the next page in the shared memory segment. It seems that each page written to in the shared memory chunk is mapped into each process private address space. This means that the shared memory is not physically shared, just virtually shared. Is this correct?
Can memory be physically shared, so that my 7 processes only use 200 MB? ISM? DISM?
I create a shared memory segment in a C-program with the following calls:
    shmid = shmget(key, SHM_SIZE, 0644 | IPC_CREAT)
    data = shmat(shmid, (void *)0, 0);Thanks in advance

Your problem seemed reasonable. What were you doing wrong?

  • High (and increasing) memory usage: Windows Driver Foundation

Hello! I updated my Z50-70 to Windows 10 a few days ago, using the clean install method. Everything works great but I noticed one problem. There is one process "Windows Driver Foundation - user-mode driver framework" which consumes great amounts of RAM. But the worrying thing is that when I start the computer that process doesn't use too much memory, but it keeps increasing, slowly but surely, and it doesn't seem to stop. I have done some research and apparently it could be caused by some faulty driver. Does anybody have the same problem? Is it any way to identify what is causing this problem? Thanks.

  • High CPU and memory use on Skype 7.4

    Hello Skype Community,
Since we have release Skype 7.4 for Windows desktop we have seen a small number of users reporting sometimes high CPU usage and memory consumption by the Skype app.
We are aware of the issue and are working to identify the root causes and identify all the conditions (internal and external) leading to abnormal memory and processor usage. Thanks for your reports confirming our internal telemetry.
I am going to update this topic weekly with an update (or earlier should any news arise).

For further investigation of high CPU issues- Download process manager from https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb896645.aspx- Open the filter window <filter><filter>- add the filter <processname> <is> <skype.exe>- close the filter window- clear events <ctrl-x>- start capturing if it is not capturing already with <file><capture events>- wait for about 10 seconds- stop capturing events <file> <capture events> You should have only a few 100 events, if you have more(even 10s of thousands)  you can find out under <tools> <any summary> what has taken a lot of time and post your findings in the thread for further info. I found the root cause for my high CPU problem by doing this:http://community.skype.com/t5/Windows-desktop-client/High-CPU-7-5-Solved/m-p/3992130

  • Do i need web kit 2 web process i keep getting high usage errors

Do i need the file webkit 2 web process? i keep getting high usage errors

Problem solved, though awkwardly. Changed my default browser to Chrome. Since this problem was issues encountered using Safari, that eliminated them. I'd had Chrome installed on my Mac for a long time, but only used it sporadically because I never found it as fast as and I just preferred Safari. But I'm finding now that it's been set as default and I'm not running them both at the same time that Chrome is actually living up to the zippy-speeds Google always said it had. So yay! for me.

  • High Usage, Old PC and Modem Dial-up broadband, La...

Hello , AVG keeps popping up on Firefox with one of the latest usage being over 300mb+, when simply having 4 or so tabs open.  High Usage, I have Old PC windows XP and Modem Dial-up broadband, Latest Firefox Browser 15.0.1 (sept2012)
Also netgear Hub  Sister uses as wireless I somethimes use with Network cable on my Laptop, Windows 7 again Firefox.
Tried talking to BT customer service but no solution.
Whilst as a amatuer photographer and massive music fan I could be on Fb, Youtube, MySpace, msn all at the same time, msn is Bonkers crazy on flash and adverts etc, and I use an AD remover for FB.
I have tried disabling add-ons and Plug ins on firefox, but this year have had prob 3 or 4 Java, adobe Flash, and Firefox updtaes thus far. i am sure this background stuff could be eating up my usage, yet a non tech user cannot possibly do anything about this.
I post many pics on some sites and looking to do my own web site  but if Uploading my images (which i reduce) and viewing others downloading etc I know that would be part of the usage, but I only started getting the Usage Allowance emails in May  or June 2012, there was No issue the previous years with BT but Now it is an issue.
But I am pretty sure I was on Unlimited broadband but BT has put me on Option 1 10gb.
This is more of an info post to try and locate what can be done to reduce the Usage allowance
    Thanks
    DW

Thanks a lot for the reply.
I installed the update, and I think the '..\services.exe' issue might have overcome. (NOT 100% sure though)
    But the machine still, Hangs
Or, Auto Shutdown occurs with the msg. '.. the process lsass.exe has terminated unexpectedly'
Let me elaborate the Hang situation a bit, this is very new to my experience. I can launch some programs like Notepad.exe, but when forefox or IE does not run. TaskManager icon appears at the system tray, but the program interface does not appear, as if TaskManager is running while minimized.
And when i try to shutdown the computer from the start menu, the User Log off/Switch User option appears, instead of the Shutdown options.
Any help will be highly appreciated.
    Thank you for your time.

One external app on 1st gen iPhone 5.  Cellular Network Data Sent = 1.2GB.  What could cause such a high usage?

I had the same issue, whilst my IPhone 5 iOS 7.0.2  was in my pocket all morning, I checked the usage on traffic monitor and it said data usage 1.1 GB.  My setting are:
    icloud:
    mail:off, contacts:on, calenders:on, reminders:on, Safari:off, Notes:on, passbook:on, photos:off, Documents & Data:on(whatsapp only), Find my Iphone:on
    itunes & apps store:

    Podcasts: Auto downloads:off
itunes wifi sync: last sync Friday 11 Oct 2013 (not this morning)
I am using an inmarsat satelite connection if anybody knows any other settings that could cause vast amounts of data to download please advise. After thought would'nt it be nice if apple had an all in one feature(switch) that only allowed Push notifications and safari usage through. Thanks in advance.

  • Roaming Fraud in Telecoms and High-Usage Reporting standards

    Hi,
I am sure that there are people out there performing software development on telecoms systems to process high usage reports in order to reduce roaming fraud.  I am hoping that someone can point me at a forum they may use so that I may join them to exchange
    information.
    Can anyone help please?
    Many thanks in advance.

    Kai,
Thanks for the question (and input). As you probably know, we have several partners that provide WLP-ready monitoring solutions providing insight into the utilization, availability, and performance of portal components, including Acsera, Quest, Intersperse, and Wily. In general, these tools are sophisticated and powerful, providing features such as SLA management, alerting, and drill down capability to meet the needs of operational, support, and development personnel tasked with detecting, isolating, and diagnosing performance and availability related issues.
In addition, we recognize the need to provide business users with straightforward statistics on utilization and performance. While we do not plan on providing such capabilities out of the box for the 9.2 release, we are actively investigating the possibility of leveraging the Analytics component of ALUI to provide such reporting capabilities for Weblogic Portal in the future.

  • Unnaturally high cpu and memory usage

    Hello.
I have installed WL 6.1 and WL Portal 4.0 on a w2k machine. It has a
    800 cpu (I think), and 512 RAM.
What happens is: After server startup, everything is low and nice. But
after a few jsp compilations, the cpu jumps to 100% and stays there,
even after the page has been returned and the browser says "done".
Actually, memory usage isn't that high; the java process is using
about 50 megs of memory. But it has exceeded this a couple of times,
    and used 200+ MB.
The database is also running on another machine.
I tried deploying the same application on a locally installed
WL/Portal, and the same thing happened, only with much more memory
usage, about 200 - 250 megs. My machine became useless, and I had to
    shut down the server.
What is causing this? Is the server's configuration totally screwed,
or can some code be doing this? Btw, I know I am the only user on this
    server...
On other threads here, I have seen people supplying server dumps of
processes etc. How do I see this dump, or what processes within the
    server are running?
I am very grateful for any help with this.
    Christer

Take a thread dump of the server. You should at least be able to see
    what it's doing.
On UNIX, you can send a SIGQUIT. (ie kill -3 the process)
On Windows, you can CTRL-BREAK in the window.
If you search for thread dump on edocs.bea.com, you should see a full
    explanation.
Also, these groups can be searched on groups.google.com.

  • High Eden Java Memory Usage/Garbage Collection

    Hi,
I am trying to make sure that my Coldfusion Server is optomised to the max and to find out what is normal limits.
Basically it looks like at times my servers can run slow but it is possible that this is caused by a very old bloated code base.
Jrun can sometimes have very high CPU usage so I purchased Fusion Reactor to see what is going on under the hood.
Here are my current Java settings (running v6u24):
    java.args=-server -Xmx4096m -Xms4096m -XX:MaxPermSize=256m -XX:PermSize=256m -Dsun.rmi.dgc.client.gcInterval=600000 -Dsun.rmi.dgc.server.gcInterval=600000 -Dsun.io.useCanonCaches=false -XX:+UseParallelGC -Xbatch ........
With regards Memory, the only memory that seems to be running a lot of Garbage Collection is the Eden Memory Space. It climbs to nearly 1.2GB in total just under every minute at which time it looks like GC kicks in and the usage drops to about 100MB.
Survivor memory grows to about 80-100MB over the space of 10 minutes but drops to 0 after the scheduled full GC runs. Old Gen memory fluctuates between 225MB and 350MB with small steps (~50MB) up or down when full GC runs every 10 minutes.
I had the heap set to 2GB initally in total giving about 600MB to the Eden Space. When I looked at the graphs from Fusion Reactor I could see that there was (minor) Garbage Collection about 2-3 times a minute when the memory usage maxed out the entire 600MB which seemed a high frequency to my untrained eye. I then upped the memory to 4GB in total (~1.2GB auto given to Eden space) to see the difference and saw that GC happened 1-2 times per minute.
Is it normal in Coldfusion that the Eden memory would grow so quickly and have garbage collection run so often? i.e do these graphs look normal?
Also should I somehow redistribute the memory available to give the Eden memory more since it seems to be where all the action is?
Any other advice for performance improvements would be much appreciated.
Note: These graphs are not from a period where jrun had high CPU.
    Here are the graphs:
    PS Eden Space Graph
    PS Survivor Space Graph
    PS Old Gen Graph
    PS Perm Gen Graph
    Heap Memory Graph
    Heap/Non Heap Memory Graph
    CPU Graph
    Request Average Execution Time Graph
    Request Activity Graph
    Code Cache Graph

    Hi,
    >Is it normal in Coldfusion that the Eden memory would grow so quickly and have garbage collection run so often?
Yes normal to garbage collect Eden often. That is a minor garbage collection.
    >Also should I somehow redistribute the memory available to give the Eden memory more since it seems to be where all the action is?
Sometimes it is good to set Eden (Eden and its two Survivor Spaces combined make up New or Young Generation part of JVM heap) to a smaller size. I know your thinking - what make it less, but I want to make it bigger. Give less a try (sometimes less = more, bigger not = better) and monitor the situation. I like to use -Xmn switch, some sources say to use other method/s. Perhaps you could try java.args=-server -Xmx4096m -Xms4096m -Xmn172m etc. I better mention make a backup copy of jvm.config before applying changes. Having said that now you know how you can set the size to bigger if you want.
I think the JVM is perhaps making some poor decisions with sizing the heap. With Eden growing to 1Gb then being evacuated not many objects are surviving and therefore not being promoted to Old Generation. This ultimately means the object will need to be loaded again latter to Eden rather than being referenced in the Old generation part of the heap. Adds up to poor performance.
    >Any other advice for performance improvements would be much appreciated.
You are using Parallel garbage collector. Perhaps you could enable that to run multi-threaded reducing the time duration of the garbage collections, jvm args ...-XX:+UseParallelGC -XX:ParallelGCThreads=N etc where N = CPU cores (eg quad core = 4).
    HTH, Carl.

  • High usage of physical memory

    hello,
i  just bought my first mac few days ago, and i have a question about the physical memory usage,
my mac is macbook pro 13' with retina display and 8 GB, and i think that for some reason my memory usage is significantly high then it should.
when i'm just using safari, i have about 600 MB available (and sometimes even about 200 MB)
is it fine? what is the regular memory usage in the mac?

The new OSX's will use as much RAM as is available, if possible.  No longer is the amount the metric, but 'Pressure'.  If if is green, all is well.

  • High Page Pool Memory Usage on a Windows 2012 R2 Hyper-V Cluster

    Hi,
may someone has a similar Problem or can give me a helping Hand.
    I'm having a 9Node Cluster ( Windows 2012 R2 , fully Patched from RTM Version on )
The Cluster is connected to a SAN which is an Equallogic ( Firmware 6.11).  HitKit Driver 4.7.1
The System running clean and without any Event Logs until the Page Pool Usage of the Nodes turn over 15 GB of Paged pool Memory.
I monitore that via a Performance Counter ( \Memory\Pool Paged Bytes)
otherwise I have no indication by for example the Process View, the Calculated Sum on the Overview ( TaskManager / Memory ) but shows on the contraditory the 15GB an Memory Usage.
I downloaded the RAMMap Tool from Sysinternals but that doesnt show me any possible Information for the information , acutally the Information differs from RAMMap to the Performance Counter ( RAMMap = 251MB, Performance Counter = 15GB )
Just to make that point clear , there is No Information beside the Sum of Page File on the System Page and the PerfCounter that so much Page Pool Memory is used by any Process . Therefor it is hidden which process "needs" it.
I tried many thinks ,  like search for a Memory Hole in the Drivers , Hyper-V Stack , Equallogic and hoped for resolution with any new Patch which had a "Memory Leak" Information to them , but so far none has made a difference , maybe someone
    has the same Problem.
My Cluster has routher large VMs on it compared to the Numa Seize ( VM 4-128GB, on DELL R720 ( 2x CPU (8C) 384GB RAM  )
( The VMs have also a High IO Usage , as there RAM is used as a RAM Database ( zb. Mongo DB ) )
    Regards
    M

    Hi Alex,
there is something wrong here and not an "normal" Memory Leak , as for that reason I would see the amount of Page Pool Memory assigned to a given Process.
If that would be the Case I could use RAMMap or even Vmmap to adresse the Paged Pool usage, but those Tools dont reflect the Usage like the PerfCounter does.
The Windows Driver Kit for a 2012 R2 System is WDK 8.1 which has a necessity of VS2013 ( Important: Before
installing WDK 8.1 Update, you need to install Visual Studio 2013. See the Visual Studio links on this page.)  My Last Hope was to get poolmon.exe and identify the Source for the "Paged Pool" Usage .
We are having that Problem now since the Early Days of Windows 2012R2 and because the Usage is quite "hidden" we only found out , when we ran out of Memory without knowing why.
Worst Usage Rates where up to 150GB of Paged Pool  !! given a RAM 385GB ( Dell R720)  that is quite a Number.
Im wondering if noone else with a cluster ( seems that the Node numbers in a Cluster and the "RAM" Seize of the VM ( >32GB )  have a tremendous impact on that given Problem , with a 4 Node Cluster the Problem isnt so big )
