High webservd cpu usage

Hi,
May I know what factors will effect the webservd process? I observed that cpu usage for webservd are very high-97%

As Jay already said, you can try the latest UWC patches (since you didn't tell us what you are currently running its hard to say if this will help) and if that doesn't work then get Sun PS to help you out (performance tuning is outside the support contract scope).
Performance tuning of your system is way beyond this forum. Given that this appears to be system 4 though (based on the the hostname) I would say that is this system is the only one with the problem there must be something different in either the load on the system, configuration of the system etc. that would explain the difference.
It's up to you to find out what the difference is.

  • High system CPU usage only recoverable by rebooting

    Hi,
    I'm having this problem since I started using my new iMac 27'. Before that I was using the same version of OSX (10.6.1) in the MacbookPro without this issue.
    So it's being hard to reproduce the problem, but suddenly there is a spike in CPU usage from System Processes (on average 40-50% if "% System" in the Activity Monitor), but strangely when I choose to show only system processes, there's no process that is actually using that amount of CPU. And the system gets REALLY slow.
    While trying to reproduce the problem, I rebooted and started iTunes. And it happened. Even after closing iTunes the high "ghost" CPU usage gets really high and never recovers unless I reboot.
    Is anyone else having similar issues?

    Hi, and welcome to the forums.
    Don't limit it to System Processes. There's often too much interaction between user and system processes. Choose either +All Processes+ or +Active Processes.+
    You probably want to select +View > Update Frequency > Less Often+ from the menubar, too, both so you can read the screen and so Activity Monitor itself won't take up too much CPU. Then sort the list by the +% CPU+ column so the largest numbers are on top.
    Watch it for a while. Many processes will "spike" up and down normally, as they do something, then go idle.
    And the system gets REALLY slow.
    That's when you need to see what the top one or two processes are.
    If you see +Process Names+ you don't recognize, post them here or consult http://triviaware.com/macprocess/all

  • High Rogger CPU Usage

    I'm a newbie and was just wondering whether anyone has had similar issues in the past with high CPU usage on the Roggers?
    This seems to be sitting somewhere around the 91% used mark, critical at some points, and 87% at other times.
    Version used:
    Rogger: Installed on UCS 210, using a Windows 2008 Guest on VMWare 5.0
    Version of UCCE: 8.5(x)
    MS SQL 2005 (SP4)
    Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

  • High Dock CPU usage

    I have an iMac which was acting very sluggish. The Dock was varying between 5 and 35% cpu usage - even with nothing but the activity monitor running.Also, the Windfowserver process had very similar usage patterns. I booted up with a safe start, and there was no difference. I then created a new administrative user account, and the problem went away on that account. However, I still would like to resolve the problem, and not just abandon my old user name and transfer everything over, as there is no reason to think the problem will not re-surface on the new account. Any insights into what may be causing this problem would be greatly appreciated.

    That was a very interesting suggestion. I deleted both the plist and the DB file associated with the Dock, but there was no change in behavior when the default set was loaded by the OS.  I went back and forth between the two accounts to verify the behavior. On both accounts the Dock CPU usage cycles between a low CPU percentage and a high CPU percentage at about a 2 second interval. On the effected account the high usage varies between single and double digits, depending if the cursor is over the Dock. In the new account I get the same readings you do, with usage at 0.0, sometimes 0.3, but never breaking 1%.
    All of the CPU percentages I am relating to you occur with only the AM active. I also tried turning  AirPort off, without any impact, and hiding the Dock, which also didn't change things - that one was a surprise.
    I appreciate your insights. I don't know what else would be user specific that could cause this problem, and still welcome any suggestions or thoughts you may have.

  • High Kernel_task CPU usage when charging

    Hey,
    When I put my adapter in my macbook to charge i have a high cpu usage(500-650%).
    When I switch back to the battery then after 10sec - 30sec my kernel_task go back to normal 2%cpu usage.
    And then when I had 1 high CPU usage my Fans of my macbook won't turn off even if i have 2% cpu usage.
    I have a early 2011 macbook pro 15" with standard Lion installed AMD Radeon 6490M version.
    I tried the 2 resets and that didnt worked tried to reinstall worked for 1 week and then it came back.
    I hope somebody can help me.

    Changing the mother board is the best way to go for the simple reason that the Mac laptops are a very integrated system. Swapping out components on the motherboard would take very skilled people and they get paid large amounts of money. Apple technicians cannot do the job. Swapping out the MB is the most cost effective way.
    For Apple, that motherboard is very inexpensive. The labor to swap it as a complete unit is by far the cheapest way for Apple rather than diagnosing and swapping out individual components. If you have ever done any surface mount component replacement this would not be hard to see.

  • High SQL cpu usage?

    Just for clarification, you are talking about the alerts caused by VeeamOne, not Veeam Backup & Replication, correct?

    So I started getting warnings from Veeam about our SQL server's CPU usage. It got up to 100% at one point in the day and stayed there for 30 minutes or so.Our SQL Server specs are:4 CPU's @ 2.GHZ each I think.... 4 CPU's nonetheless.16 GB ramvirtualized on vsphere 5.1So I logged into the SQL server to see what was up (note that this has been happening for the past month or so, just hadn't had time to actually sit down and work on it, plus it didn't seem to effect the performance of our patient software too much which runs on SQL. Until this morning and it was very sluggish.)I noticed that the SQL server processes were running at 50% or more sometimes. I caught a screen shot of it when it was on it's way down. How can I trouble shoot something like this and figure out what in the hell is causing it to spike? I am not a master at SQL so...

  • Hanging programs, high Finder CPU usage

    Since early October 2012, programs such as Firefox, Thunderbird and TextEdit have been repeatedly hanging (Not Responding) for a few minutes at a time. Also, Finder CPU usage sometimes surges to 80% even 100% (via Activity Monitor), but not necessarily at the same time. Wondering if these are related. Running OS 10.6.8 (with latest updates) on early 2008 3.06 GHz Core 2 Duo.
    Is anyone else having these problems? Any suggestions?

    See if the Disk is issuing any S.M.A.R.T errors in Disk Utility...

    Open Activity Monitor in Applications>Utilities, select All Processes & sort on CPU%, any indications there?
    How much RAM & free space do you have also, click on the Memory & Disk Usage Tabs.
    Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens.
    In the Memory tab, are there a lot of Pageouts?
    One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
    PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
    Reboot, test again.
    If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
    Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
    Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

  • I have very high 100% CPU usage when I run itunes.

    Normally I don't have any problems, but now when I start iTunes it eats up my CPUs.  Any thoughts?

    I am having this same problem. When running iTunes on my macbook pro, i notice my CPU usage is hovering around 94-97% constantly. Has anyone found out why?

  • High idling CPU usage

    Hi,
    Got my Macbook a couple of weeks ago, and I'm loving it.
    However, a couple of days ago the CPU usage when idling has gone right up to an average of about 60% per core.
    I can't think of any configuration changes I have made that would have affected this, and Activity Monitor doesn't show any processess using more than about 2% (showing all processes), however the overall CPU usage meter in Activity Monitor shows about 45% CPU usage for user processes. It's causing heat issues and chewing up my battery.
    Any ideas?

    Apparently this is being caused by Windows File Sharing. Try turning it off and see if it's any better.

  • High Idle CPU Usage... Can it be remedied?

    Hey everyone, I'm having a bit of an issue with my Power Mac... I checked my CPU usage through Terminal's "top" utility, and found that my CPU is currently running anywhere from 75 - 90% at "idle". Now, I've been told that's not something that I want to have going on with the Power Mac. Any suggestions on how to get that percentage down?
    I used the Applejack utility, as was suggested in another Discussion forum here on the site, but that didn't do the trick.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

    Well, before today, like you, I assumed that an "idle" CPU was exactly that; a CPU that just wasn't being used. But then, after reading up on some articles that were posted online in both the Apple Discussion Forums as well as places like MacFixIt, I started going on this wild chase to figure out what was up. Turns out that I misread the articles; the problems they had were not the "idle" percentage, but rather, the "user" percentage when their computers were idle. (Slaps hand on forehead)
    That's what happens when you act on a whim on a tech FAQ article at 6 AM, before having your morning coffee, lol.
    I guess I jumped on it because I'm getting a little paranoid about the number of pageouts I'm getting at the moment, and I'm trying to do everything I can outside of adding more RAM. Over the course of a few days, the "top" utility registers anywhere from 10,000 to 50,000 pageouts, which I know for a fact is a bad sign. On top of that, there are times that I just have one or two programs open, and over the course of a day or two, the amount of Memory I have free drops from over 1.5 GB, down to about 128 MB. (Programs are usually Safari and iTunes)
    I know that's gotta be an issue, right?
    And, to "the hatter," no, I'm not running Google Desktop. I DO have a boatload of Dashboard Widgets, though. (But not actively running at the same time)

  • High CPU usage while display is asleep

    This is a strange one, and I've noticed it on multiple distros, and Arch is no different.  When my system is sitting idle with the screen on my CPU usage hovers around 5%, which I would consider to be perfectly normal.  However, when the display goes to sleep (no screen saver, just DPMS sleep) the CPU jumps up to about 25% and stays there until I bump the mouse (or do whatever to wake the system up), and then it will drop back down to the normal 5% CPU usage. 
    I had always thought it had something to do with Firefox, but I had Firefox closed while I was away at work today, and yet when I come home and wake my computer up my CPU usage graph shows that it's been at a solid 25% all day long. 
    Anyone have any ideas what this might be, or recommend a way to hunt down exactly what process is eating my CPU cycles while the display is off?
    Thanks a lot, this has been puzzling me for some time now.
    EDIT: I should add that I am running KDE, and have been on the other distros as well (to the best of my recollection).  After realizing this it seems like this thread may be better suited for the Applications & DE forum, but I'm not sure... it could very well be something to do with the kernel or something to do with power saving.  Please move if you see fit.

    The CPU usage is not accounted for in the system monitor app.  There's roughly 4% usage accounted for, yet there's a total of 29% being used.
    The script doesn't seem to find anything either.  High idle CPU usage kicks in maybe 3/4 of the way through, but the output doesn't seem to change from the beginning at all.

    Also, the screen doesn't have to be asleep, the system just needs to sit idle for a few minutes.

  • Kernel_task high cpu usage when using external monitor at 1080p

    My external display is a Samsung PX2370 connected to my MBP using an HDMI cable with a HDMI-to-miniDP adapter
    I first noticed this after the last EFI update several months back. At first I thought kernel_task eats up too much cpu cycles whenever an external display is attached, but it turns out this only happens when the external display is set to 1080p. When external display is set to 720p, kernel_task is pretty much normal (~5% cpu usage) but rises up to ~150% cpu usage once the external display is set to 1080p.
    kernel_task cpu usage is also with normal range when my MBP is connected to a Samsung LCD TV at 720p.
    Anyone having the same problem or know of any fix/workarounds?

    Seems like the problem persists when playing a 720p video on the external display set to 720p. To sum it up

  • High CPU Usage / Dropped Packets - Switch Blade WS-CBS3120X-S

    Hi all,
    I have a couple of Switches Blade 3120, working as active-standby model (HSRP) on a new site deployment. There are other 20 sites more or less, working on the same model, without issues. But in this one, we are seeing a high cpu usage. The traffic going through the platform is 600Mbps (on peaks), and in this case we have 40% of CPU usage. Traffic should be close to 3 Gbps. When we tried to send the whole traffic through the platform, active switch began to drop packets on the majority of interfaces.
    When we analyze the CPU usage, there is a special process called "HL3U bkgrd proce" always have the most CPU use, but we do not know what concerns. We do not know if it is caused because there are PBRs configured. It should not matter. How I mentioned, there are other sites working fine and have had always the same PBR number.
    Could you guys help us?. Any idea what is causing the high usage?. Is there a special debug we could to perform to diagnose the issue?. Also, we have seen a high interrupt CPU usage (9% in this case).
