Higher capacity battery for N82?

Hi, wondering if there are batteries available for the N82 than the 1050mAh BP-6MT battery?
Just now I've got an unmetered internet package, use the bluetooth more and regularly listen to music on my n82, I can run out of battery within a day!

Phones are designed to work with the battery they ship with and no others.
You may find a battery from an alternative manufacturer that has a greater capacity than the original Nokia battery, but you are exposing yourself to risk by using it. Many of these so-called compatible batteries are in fact manufactured to shoddy standards and seem fairly prone to leakage and even explosion in some cases. Quite apart from the health hazard, any damage to your N82 caused by such a battery would immediately void the N82's warranty.
The best solution by far is to purchase a second BP-6MT and carry it around charged. If the one in the phone does go flat, no worries. Just switch the phone off and replace it. When you get home, charge both up.

You can, if you can find one with the right size and voltage. There's always a risk with third-party accessories, you should judge that for yourself.

  • Hi, can anyone tell me the capacity of battery for 5th gen ipod video?

Hi just a purchased what was advertised as a 850mAh battery for iPod and received a 480mAh instead. Guess where i bought it? eBay of course, should have known better i didnt even think you could get a batt. of that strength for 30g. i have emailed the seller but wanted to know what the actual capacity was as i dare'nt open my iPod at this stage. Any advice would be helpful, thanks Dolly.

You didn't mention which of the video iPods you have as they use slightly different batteries.
But, the 30GB uses a smaller battery in that range you mention, something like 450-500mAh. You can buy better ones rated at about 550mAh from online retailers.
For the 60 and 80 GB models, both of those use larger 850mAh batteries.
So if you use a 30GB iPod, despite the advertisement saying they carried 850mAh batteries, which would be only for 60/80GB models, you basically got the correct battery. Although as I said, you can buy slightly higher capacity ones for the 30GB if you wanted, but not double.

  • Better Battery for the N95?

    Hello everyone
This is my first post on the support site and I'm disappointed to see that I'm not alone in experiencing problems with the N95 and specifically the shockingly poor battery life. My last Nokia was an N70 and I don't agree with other people who had said that poor battery life is a feature of the N series phones as I could go almost 3 weeks between charges. I find that even with only moderate use the battery in my N95 goes from a full charge to empty within 5 days (approximately only 70 hours) and I don't see the point in having a phone with all of these features if you have to charge it every few days. I'm not using the GPS function, WLAN scanning is switched off as is Bluetooth and I'm only sending a few text messages a day and making a couple of calls yet everytime that I look at the display the battery has gone down another notch. Looking in the Vodafone catalogue the standby time is quoted at up to 260 hours but I would love someone from Nokia to demonstrate how they managed to arrive at this figure.
I love the features of the phone (I've not had any other problems so far!)but I feel that Nokia have released the N95 with a very poor battery (like the old Ipods) and the poor consumer is left to try muddle along trying to save battery life.
Does anyone know if Nokia are planning to release an updated battery that might actually last a decent amount of time between charges?

Sounds like you had everything running: 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth, screen at max brightness etc. That would affect battery life.
Also, there are many people who believe that battery life can be optimised by conditioning the battery when you first get it: run the battery all the way down and charge over night for the first 3 or 4 cycles.

    2) I charged it fully, used GPS for 30 mins and battery was finsihed after 3 hours? What was that?
Running GPS is really going to take it out of the battery: the GPS receiver is working, the processor is working, the screen's on - basically the battery is getting hammered.
I get a similar affect running SatNav with my N80 and that uses an external GPS, ie: one that's not powered by the phone's battery.

Again, the phone was working pretty hard for an hour there - you should think of that as at least the equivalent of having made a 1 hour call.

Size of the device: a higher capacity battery would be bigger so the phone would have to be bigger.

We will be getting battery replacement? or nokia will be releasing some new battery in future for N95?
Almost certainly not: most of the previous N-series phones have had the same issues and none of their batteries have been upgraded.

There are plenty of threads about this, so I guess it's quite common - though I notice a lot of people reporting that battery life is actually better than they had with the N95's predecessor, the N80.

  • Need stronger battery for Satelite L35-S2151

Hi, I just buy a Satelite L35-S2151 (SN : 96074254W), it is my first Toshiba laptop. Everything great, except battery, it last a little short.
So I need to add another battery, my question is what's model numbers of battery can be use in L35-S2151, every number end with "1BRS"? Could you give me a list of models number?
    TIA
    Joseph

    Hi
The notebook seems to be designed for the US market. Did you buy it in the United States?
However, if you want to buy a battery for your notebook you should always use the compatible and supported one.
Im not 100% sure but I think the L30 series uses the same batteries.
On the Toshiba European page in the Options & accessories area I have found some batteries for a Sat L30 notebook.
    Battery Pack ( 6 Cell, 4300mAh PA3399U-1BRS
    Battery Pack (Li-Ion, 4000mAh, 6 Cell) PA3465U-1BRS
    Battery Pack (Li-Ion, 4300mAh, 8 Cell) PA3457U-1BRS
    Extended Capacity Battery Pack (Li-Ion, 6000mAh, 9 Cell) PA3478U-1BRS
    High Capacity Battery Pack (Li-Ion, 12 Cell, 8600mAh) PA3400U-1BRS
You have to pay attention on the mAh value. A higher mAh value means better battery power performance.
I think you can order such batteries from the Toshiba authorized service provider and additional you should ask for the battery compatibility.

  • Switching to FIOS, want the new high-capacity DVR. How can I guarantee getting one?

After 12 years I have to say goodbye to Dish because my old oaks are getting too tall and too wide and I don't have a clean line of sight...so I'm switching to FiOS.  I've gotten used to the best DVR in the industry, and I understand that there are new high capacity DVRs for FiOS that rival the Dish DVR's capacity.  How can I guarantee that when I order FiOS I'll get one?

You can't . Its whatever is put on the truck that morning. HOWEVER, you can do what I did and refuse the install. My installer was nice enough to go back to the office and get one for me. It is outgrageous to offer the older smaller equipment to new customers.

  • Extended battery for Portege R100 in the UK

    Hello,
Hopefully the subject pretty much covers things but...
I have read that the R100 in America comes with an extended battery and was wondering if it is possible to buy one in the UK. I can't find anything online.
Also does the Portege R100 boot from USB at all?
    Many Thanks

This high capacity battery has part number PA3155U-1BRL. I don't have time to search it on Google but use this number in Google UK and I hope you will find some online store where you can order it.
About USB boot I cannot say much but when the notebook starts under Toshiba welcome screen you should see small symbols with all bootable devices. Check if USB is there.
Do you want to use USB external CD-Rom?

  • Extended Battery for HTC Incredible

Any VZW folks have an ETA on the 2150 extended battery coming in stock?  I called my local store and they show it and it's priced at $60 for a HTC 2150 with back plate as well.  They said the warehouse shows it hasn't come in yet.

This may not be correct but I found this:
    http://htcpedia.com/news/htc-droid-incredible-2150-extended-battery.html
"HTC Incredible owners, as many of you know how frustrating it can be when the battery in your phone doesn't last enough to go through the day. We have been anxiously expecting to get some original HTC 2150mAh extended batteries for Droid Incredible around the end of May, however we have just learned that its release date has been pushed back to late July.
For more than few weeks we've had an estimated arrival date for HTC Droid Incredible 2150mAh extended battery around end of May. As of today it has been pushed back to late July 2010. We're not sure what has caused this delay, but this will definitely make some Incredible owners upset.
For those of you who are looking to get the 1500mAh extra capacity battery for HTC Incredible, you'll get a nice boost of power enough to get through the day with an extra 200mAh."

  • N8 high capacity extended life battery

    Hello
as all N8 users know, the standard 1200 mAh battery is not powerful enough. Two questions for you:
    - where can I buy a higher-capacity, reliable battery?
    - has anyone used the following 1500 mAh battery (no English brand name) which is currently on sale at ecrater.co.uk:
    http://www.ecrater.co.uk/p/13538311/1500mahhigh-capacitybattery-for-nokia-bl4d-n97#
    Thanks for your feedback.
(Btw, I know that replacing the N8's battery yourself voids the warranty)

    Hi WhosThere,
Please keep in mind that replacing the battery yourself in Nokia N8 will void the warranty of the device. Also discussing the methods how to do that or otherwise modify the hardware or the software of device is not allowed on Nokia Discussions. Please refer to the forum Guidelines.
For the best performance on your Nokia phone, always make sure to purchase an original Nokia battery from a reliable, Nokia-authorized store. Please have a look at this link: Batteries.

  • IDVD won't give an option for higher capacity DL discs

    Hello,
    Using iDVD version 7.1.2 (1158)
In the 'Project Info' window, under 'DVD Type:' the only options given are Single Layer 4.2GB or Double-Layer 7.7GB.
According to the info, my project is 150 min, 8.21 GB.
I'd like to burn a DVD using Memorex DVD+RDL media which has a stated capacity of 8.5GB or 240Min (from the label).  There is no option for this.
Is there a reason why Apple gives 2 such strange sized options for SL and DL options?  Is iDVD reserving room on the disc for other stuff?
    Thank you for your help!

Whether you can use DL disks is not governed by iDVD but by your superdrive. Check in 'About this Mac' if yours supports dual layer media.
Memorex is not recommended. Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden are.
150 minutes should fit comfortably on a DL disk, as the project will of course be compressed to the standard DVD format of mpeg2:
    iDVD encoding settings:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1502?viewlocale=en_US
    Short version:
Best Performance is for videos of up to 60 minutes
Best Quality is for videos of up to 120 minutes
Professional Quality is also for up to 120 minutes but even higher quality (and takes much longer)
That was for single-layer DVDs. Double these numbers for dual-layer DVDs.
Professional Quality: The Professional Quality option uses advanced two-pass technology to encode your video (The first pass determines which parts of the movie can be given greater compresson without quality loss and which parts can’t.  The second pass then encodes those different parts accordingly) , resulting in the best quality of video possible on your burned DVD. You can select this option regardless of your project’s duration (up to 2 hours of video for a single-layer disc and 4 hours for a double-layer disc). Because Professional Quality encoding is time-consuming (requiring about twice as much time to encode a project as the High Quality option, for example) choose it only if you are not concerned about the time taken.
In both cases the maximum length includes titles, transitions and effects etc. Allow about 15 minutes for these.
You can use the amount of video in your project as a rough determination of which method to choose. If your project has an hour or less of video (for a single-layer disc), choose Best Performance. If it has between 1 and 2 hours of video (for a single-layer disc), choose High Quality. If you want the best possible encoding quality for projects that are up to 2 hours (for a single-layer disc), choose Professional Quality. This option takes about twice as long as the High Quality option, so select it only if time is not an issue for you.
Use the Capacity meter in the Project Info window (choose Project > Project Info) to determine how many minutes of video your project contains.
NOTE: With the Best Performance setting, you can turn background encoding off by choosing Advanced > “Encode in Background.” The checkmark is removed to show it’s no longer selected. Turning off background encoding can help performance if your system seems sluggish.
And whilst checking these settings in iDVD Preferences, make sure that the settings for NTSC/PAL and DV/DV Widescreen are also what you want.

  • Need high capacity DVD-R burner for high-capacity DVDs

I need to start burning high capacity DVDs, but they are only available (that I can find) in DVD+R. Per my profile, my drive burns only DVD-R, so I'm looking for a mac-compatible external drive that will burn DVD+R's.
Does anyone know of a source for these?
    Thanks.

Agreed on the Pioneer, and the media. Add Taiyo Yuden as desirable media.
Ditto on the Taiyo Yuden. Usually availably only through online retailers.
OS X Leopard supports burning to DVD-R DL, but doesn't support DVD+R DL.
The output for my DVR-110D in System Profiler shows DVD+R DL as supported:
    *PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-110D:*
    Firmware Revision: 1.41
    Interconnect: ATAPI
Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipping Drive)
    Cache: 2000 KB
    Reads DVD: Yes
    CD-Write: -R, -RW
    DVD-Write: -R, -R DL, -RW, +R, +R DL, +RW
    Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, CD-Raw, DVD-DAO
Media: Insert media and refresh to show available burn speeds

  • Upgrading RAM and Flash Storage for higher capacity

If I purchase a MacBook Pro with Retina Display with 8GB or RAM and 256GB Flash Drive, can I later upgrade the RAM and Flash Drive for higher capacity?

    Just to clarify...
If I were to purchase a "regular" MacBook Pro (non-"retina", DVD drive, FireWire port, etc.) and seek aftermarket options for...
(1: replacing the main RAM with 16 gigabytes of RAM (I understand that the newest "regular" MBP is limited to a BTO option of only 8 GB.)
    and
(2: replacing the hard drive with a larger-capacity aftermarket Solid State Drive, preferably one with a capacity of either 768 gigabytes or 1 terabyte.
Do such aftermarket options exist for the newest "regular" MacBook Pro? Can this model handle 16 GB of RAM? If there are aftermarket kits available, who installs them?

  • Bought spare battery for my N82... isn't performin...

Basically I bought a NOKIA BP-6MT battery off of Ebay from a UK seller with very high feedback and it seems to last about half as long as my battery that came with the phone. Mild (1/2 hr) Sat-Nav usage in addition to very light day usage takes off around 3 bars whereas with my original it takes off 1 max! I charged the new battery for around 9 hrs but it still performs very poorly in comparison to my original.
The packaging appears genuine... and it has a similar holograph to the original (though a slightly lighter colour)... is there anyw ay to tell if this is genuine or not, or is there any other reason for this awful performance? I was not exagerrating when I said my original battery that came with the phone performs twice (or even more) as good...

Well... the hologram on mine doesn't look as good as the original battery I have (which is obviously the same as on your page), and the hologram colour is much lighter, not the brown colour of the original. Are Nokia batteries different shades of hologram, or should they all be murky brown?
Either way it seems like a fake... the battery only cost £7 overall and they are much more expensive online in retail stores so maybe I should have researched better. What's worse is the seller is no longer registered and he had over 12'000 feedback too... i'm usually so careful with Ebay... *sigh*
