Higher Educational Discounts badly advertised in the UK.

This probably isn't the right forum to write about this, but it seems the most suitable.
I am extremely disappointed by apple right now. I bought a MacBook 1 1/2 months ago and was very happy with it until I found out that Apple does educational discounts. In my case it would have been £125 (nearly 200$) as well as an extended waranty! When I called the store where I bought it they said I would have had to tell them within 14 days of purchasing it.
What really annoys me is that they don't advertise it properly. There was nothing in the store suggesting it and the person at the checkout could have always asked, as I do look like I a student.
I just lost a lot of respect for Apple and would have problems recommending them to anyone, even though I am happy with the MacBook itself.
The worst part is that I found out about the discount while looking around for an ipod as my old mp3 player just broke. Needless to say they don't have any discounts on ipod's whatsoever. I even suggested they give me a smaller discount on an ipod instead of the £125, but they said they wouldn't.
Just had to let off steam somewhere. If anyone has an idea for something else I could try please let me know.

It was an apple-run store and I did look on the apple website numerous times but never noticed the link to educational discounts so it is obviously badly placed. When calling them today for example it is a lot more obvious. One of the options to choose from is "if you're a student...".
I think there are cases, like a group of people around 20 where it is very likely that they are students and it wouldn't be hard to ask. In addition to that me and my friends were in the shop (London regent street, so it is a pretty big store) for quite a while and there was no obvious information anywhere. If they want to convince students to switch they should be advertising it!
I know that in the end it's my fault and I have to live with it. Apple could have done a lot to prevent it from happening though and would be well advised to do so as I'm sure I'm not the only person that this has happened to.
In addition to that I don't see why they couldn't be a bit more helpful now and at least give me a discount on an ipod which I can't afford as a result of buying the MacBook. If it was a year later, fine, but less then 2 months is a totally different story in my eyes.

Higher Education Discount Includes 3 years AppleCare?

Hey everyone,
I'm on the HE store and it says under extras "Every HE Mac comes with 3 years complimentary AppleCare hardware support and repairs. However for £48 you can have Telephone support for those 3 years by buying Uplift".
I'm just wondering because it says under that , that "AppleCare protection plan must be purchased within a year" . . .but it no longer mentions "Uplift".
Does anyone know how this works?
Do I NEED to ask the Apple guys for a free AppleCare Hardware support box when I'm buying my Mac?

After returning my imac and receiving a replacement it was confirmed via telephone and email that this was indeed the case:

Again, I can absolutely confirm that every education purchase has an automatic 3 years hardware warranty, and 1 year telephone support.
Where you would normally be able to check that would be on our website at https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do . On that website, you would need to enter in your serial numbe**********, and select continue. However that can take a few weeks to update.
You will definitely receive notification once that update happens.
In the meantime, if there is any question of your coverage, AppleCare can certainly contact our Apple Online AfterSales team.
We can definitely confirm for them that is the case.

So it is quite ineresting that you say this 3 year warranty and 1 year telephone support still applies
I will copy the image you inserted above and show them that.
Is there any written confirmation of this warranty on their website as I can not find it?

I want to buy a macbook pro using the Higher education discount

Having checked the discount amounts it's virtually the same price. when i bought my imac 2 years ago i got a discount of over £170, now the discount is £50! should i wait for better discounts? or is this unlikely to happen as the components are more expensive this time.
i would consider a macbook air as the discount is quite heafty, but the memory capacity is too low for my kind of requirements.

Apple determines the discounts. This is a user to user forum and we have no information as to to how and when Apple will set discounts. You may contact Apple directly and see what they say.

What proof do I need for educational discount?

I don't have a student card or anything. But i have an acceptance letter and a tonne of forms about my accomedation would that suffice apple?

The "principles" I was referring to was not regarding the student discount. I did not know what the prerequisites were for student education. Based on the word "student discount", I merely thought it was referring to any student and so I brought the student ID of my daughter's. When the Apple rep clarified the conditions to me, I was surprised and taken aback. I did not raise my voice or verbally and personally abuse him. I was in no rush to purchase the computer and was willing to walk out if my situation was unacceptable.
The "principles" I was referring to me was egarding the inclusion of "teachers" in the Apple website that Joseph Kriz quoted from. It mentions teaching staff of higher education. I am a member of the teaching staff of higher education. Period. If the same exact manager STILL finds this condition unacceptable after i bring my medical ID from the teaching institution as well as verification from Medical Educationthat Department that I do teach in higher education (higher education means college and above, right?), I will pay for the full price. That is the "principle" I was alluding to. I will let THE MANAGER of the Apple store decide for me.

BED & Higher education cess are not appearing in J1IIN in export sales

Dear Experts,
we have scenario,
- 1000 & 2000 Plants are excisable
- Excise group is same for 1000 & 2000 plant
- Serial Group is different for 1000 & 2000 plant.
we enter materials from 1000 & 2000 plant for creating a export sales order ( IN one export sales order we enter material from different plant), in which excise duties are showing correctly even though we enter different plant in sales order. even commercial invoice also properly generated with proper excise duties but when we try to create excise Invoice (J1IIN), BED ,Education cess and Higher education cess are correctly appearing for the materials of plant 1000, but only BED and Higher education cess are appearing for the material of plant 2000, +not appearing the Education cess in the excise invoice moreover that excise accounting entry too+
But when try to create same scenario in domestic sales , all the documents ( Right from sales order to Excise invoice are working properly ,all the BED,Cess,Hcess are also properly appearing and accounting entry too.
please help me to resolve the urgent issue.

As i said above you can not see those accounting entries for excise invoice in export.
you can see the accounting entries for excise invoice in domestic sales process.but not in export process
to see this difference you can just go to v/08 and select your pricing procedure for export sales,here you can see the tick mark for statistical field for all excise conditions.but you can not see this tick marks in domestic pricing procedure.
and also as i said above you check those settings in J1ID T-code
for this in J1ID select cess rates-click on change icon-here check whether you maintained plant-material-check AT1 field along with other fields like BED%,CESS%
and also check EXCISE TAX RATES in that J1ID there you should have excise rates for chapter id combination
and finally check material and chapter id combination

Higher Education cess problem in excise invoice.

Hi,
While creating excise invoice using the transaction j1iin with respect to the export commercial invoice, what is happening is that the higher education cess is appearing in the create mode of the excise invoice, but once while we are going to save the document and after opening in the change mode, the document does not contain the higher education cess. And also the transaction is not hitting the G/L account
What might be the reason. Please give suggestions.

Dear Anupam,
As Rithvika has suggested......the coding if done in user exit will solve your problem and here you need to put Suppress Calculation=X. There is no other way to solve your current problem.
Would suggest that whenever you face any problem, you should check the existing threads on the same first and then only go for the new thread.

Educator discount on existing family plan?

I recently was hired on at a university. I've submitted the appropriate Verizon form to find out what percentage I can save on service. While I wait on the answer, I have a question that I hope the community will be able to help me with.
Can I add the educator discount to an existing family plan? If yes, does my name need to be the billing name? If the educator discount cannot apply to the entire plan, can it apply to just my particular line?

Oh how I love discounts! I'm excited for you to get word back. When it comes to employee discounts you have to be the account owner (main name) of the account.
If you're not already, that's easy! We have a process called an Assumption of Liability where the current Account Owner provides permission for you to take over the account into your responsiblity.
Then we can apply your work discount.

My wife is looking to get a Microsoft Surface Pro 3. The local Microsoft store offers a 10% education discount (she'd faculty) on the system and the keyboard cover. Would a local BestBuy store match this discount on these items?
As a secondary question, would the online store match as well? I am just now seeing that my local store is out of stock on the specific model she is looking at.

Can I use the education discount to purchase a computer for my husband who is in school?

I'd like to buy a computer for my husband who is in college. When I purchased my computer I used the education discount because I was in college at that time. I am wondering if I can use the education discount for purchasing a computer for him. I noticed that on the terms you need to agree to in order to use it you have to either be the student, faculty, or a parent. I was wondering if spouse counted.

You need a valid .edu email address, IIRC.
Since he is the student, he can make the purchase and get the discount.
Won't work real well if you're planning on gifting the Mac.

Has the education discount changed in the UK?

I was told by a friend recently that they bought a base level Macbook Pro using the Education discount and got 14% off. However, looking today, the most I got off was £30. Does any one know, has the discount changed? Or am I just not looking in the right place?!

Higher Education Mini Owners in the UK

I just purchase a mac mini and a 20" display. will my monitor be covered by the three year extended warranty that is given to all higher education students for free now?

I'm not sure about that program, but if the display is NOT covered, you can now purchase an AppleCare Protection Plan for the display only.
