Highlight an activ tree control row
Hi!
I've some problems with a tree control. So I'm not able to selct items during the runtime. In stop mode I can see the blue background color but in run mode I can't see it and also the active tag is an empty tag.
The reason is, that I want to enable the user to delete the parents with all the childs.
Hope that someone can help me.
Best regards Michael
PS: I've attached a vi where you can see the problem, but it is strange that in this example one item is always selected - and it is during runtime always the same item.

How to get access to Row Data (Child Text) in a Tree Control Pragmatically?
In LabVIEW 2010, I have entered Row Data into a Tree Control pragmatically using the Add Item method and providing the Child Text array and the Child Tag for the Row. When a Row in the Tree Control is selected, I can get the Row Tag in the Value Property of the Tree. But how do I access the Child Text array data when the Row is selected? I can't seem to find a Tree Control Property or Method that will return that data back again.
What I am trying to do is: once a Row in a Tree is selected and a button is pushed, if the Row Tag is valid, I want to transfer all of the Row data into another similarly formatted Tree. To do that I need the Row Data for the Tree and Row that was selected. I can not find a way to get access to this Row Data after it has been entered into the Tree.
Can anyone tell me how to pragmatically access the Child Text or Row Data in a Tree Control from a selected Row in the Tree? I have the Tag for the Row, but how do I access the data?
Thanks for your assistance.
Solved!
Go to Solution.As mentioned in the posting here, you can use the Active Item:Tag property to set the item to which subsequent property changes apply. This includes pulling the Active Celltring values out in a for loop as you increment the Active Cell:Active Column Number to get the row's Child Text data programmatically as I was originally wanting to do.
Note that wiring a 0 to the ActiveColNum property and reading the String value will return the tree item's visible name (in column 0), but not the unique item Tag (which is somewhat intangible after its creation). Therefore, I save the unique item tag when I add the item to the tree control (the output of the Add Item invoke node) and store it as a separate column of the Child Text array and place it out of sight in the tree control so I have access to it later. It might be useful, it might not.
I find the tree control totally non-intuitive and not well explained anywhere, but that's how a lot of LabVIEW coding is I guess. Play with it long enough and you become an expert. I had to learn the hard way, but I hope this helps someone else.

How to highlight all child items in a tree control?
I have a tree control and a boolean button. I want to use the button to select all (highlight) the child items in the tree control. I've seen CVI functions where you can set the active items, but such a function/method does not appear in LabVIEW.
Any clues?Hi settles,
Once you have all the children, you just need to set the value of the tree control to be an array of all the child tags. Here's a screenshot of a VI that does this:
First I get all the tags, then I get the parent of each tag. If the parent is a non-empty string, I add it to an array. Then I write that array value to a local variable of the tree control. Let me know if you have any questions on this method. I believe the "All Tags" property I'm using was added in LabVIEW 8.0.

How to add new row in KL02 trx - Activity type control data
Hi guys.
I am not a FI-CO consultant, but I want to add a row since KL02 transaction within a cost center, with a new fiscal year. When you access KL02 (change activity type), you set the activity type, then press Master Data and the basic screen appears. If you press the Display planning control button, you will see the "Display Activity Type Control Data" List. I wanna add a row for a specific cost center here, because the cost center I refer has not 2011 as fiscal year. I tried to use, since basic screen of KL02, use the Change planning control button, but when I set my cost center and 2011 as fiscal year, the Save button is inactive. Furthermore, I tried to press the Period screen and a message appeared "No data has been entered yet". So I dont know how to add one row for a cost center in the Planning control (Activity type control data) list of the KL02 transaction, specifically for an activity type. Do you know? Thanks in advanceHi,
The list of cost centers in which the activity type is planned is given in KL02 under planning data. In order to add a new cost center to this, you need to enter the activity type in transaction KP26 for a particular year.
Goto transaction KP26
Give version - 0
from period 1 to 12
year - 2011
cost center - mention the cost center
Activity type - mention activity type
goto overview screen F5 and add the plan price for the activity in the cost center. This step will automatically add new row in the activity type control data.
Hope this helps.
Thanks,

Tree Control Highlighting Programmatically Selected Item
Does anyone know whether it is possible to highlight a programmatically selected item in the LV Tree Control, eg I have used the "Get Child" method to select an item - how do I then highlight this item on the tree?
Yes, you can write the value to a local variable for the tree control. This will have the effect of selecting the item--which will highlight just ike the user clicked on it.
By the way, "Get Child" doesn't select an item in any sort of useful sense--it just tells you what the child is. Actually, it tells you what the first child under the indicated Parent is.

Highlighted drop source from tree control?
When a user drop an item or node from one tree to another, is
there a way to detect where the user wants to drop the item/node?
Let's say a tree showing a company structure with different
departments and managers and a list of people under the managers.
Such as:
Company A
L---> R&D
..........L---> Research
..........L---> Development
.......................L---> UI
................................L---> Manager A
.............................................L--->
Personal a1
.............................................L--->
Personal a2
.............................................L--->
Personal a3
.......................L---> Algorithm
................................L---> Manager B
.............................................L--->
Personal b1
.............................................L--->
Personal b2
.............................................L--->
Personal b3
.......................L---> Architecture
................................L---> Manager C
.............................................L--->
Personal c1
.............................................L--->
Personal c2
.............................................L--->
Personal c3
A user can suffle the people under different managers bsed on
the project phases. If Personal c1 & c2 complete their tasks,
they get moved to Manager A to help out the UI. In this case, I
need to know where the c1 & c2 get move to. All personals can
only be a child of Managers. If a user accidently drop them at
category or department level, the move should be ignored. How do I
do this? Is it possible to do this within ONE tree control rather
than two? Please help! Any input is appriciated!Yes. I am able to check the dragged data. However, I cannot
grab the dropped data to compare and refuse the drop if the rule is
not allowed. If the drag and drop source are the same, it wouldn't
make since to use drag_enter event to check since it is moving a
node in the same tree. -
How can I display and change built-in symbols of a tree control programmatically?
I want to set the built-in symbols of a tree control during runtime.
I only found an example to assign custom pictures but not how to select one of the 40 built-in symbol.
Many Thanks
Solved!
Go to Solution.The ActiveItem.SymbolIndex will allow you to select the symbol for the active item. You can use the ListBox Symbol Ring Constant (Dialog and User Interface palette) to select a symbol (or you can just enter the number directly if you know what it is).

Report with Dynamic tree control
I have a report with a TREE CONTROL.
<p>
A Tree is referenced to: CL_GUI_ALV_TREE_SIMPLE and is located on the left side of the screen.
<p>
See diagram below. The Tree has MULTI-LEVEL nodes and the user can click on any of the nodes which will
trigger a report (rellevant for that node) to appear in the REPORT container.
<p>
Everythign is working fine.
<p>
I now have a requirement to add a TREE ON/OFF functionality. I have added this by 'Freeing' TREE
container and by initializing when the user Turns ON the TREE. It is working fine, HOWEVER, when
it initilizes the TREE it is COLLAPSED and obviously does not point to the NODE that was clicked.
<p>
My goal is to retain the value of the NODE that was pressed and EXPAND the tree to that node and
highlight it... Please note that I have MULTI-LEVEL nodes and the user can double click on NODES
and ITEMS.
<p>
I tried using GET_SELECTED_NODES, but it only works if the user selects the LOWEST level node/item.
<p>
Any advise will be appreciated.
<p>
Also, as an alternative, I was thinking of resizing TREE container to WIDTH of 1 when the user PRESSES
TREE OFF and resizing back to width 200 when the user presses TREE ON. I could not find any methods
that would work with CL_GUI_DOCKING_CONTAINER.
Please help! Thank you in advance.

Drag and Drop between two ALV Tree Controls
Hello all,
I have designed a spilt control of two ALV Trees using CL_GUI_ALV_TREE.
I have a top node as the Sales order Number and the child node as the items belonging to that sales order number.
Now i need to drag and drop the lines from one sales order to another.
Also these drag drop can take place between the nodes of the two different trees.
Can someone provide with a detail example as i need to complete the same urgently.

Tree control tip strip for each item
In tree control is possible set a Tip strip for each item (node) of tree?
In tree control tipStrip property seems relative to all tree.
Thanks all.The only thing I can think of is to use an event structure
use a mouse move event
Get Cords
Calculate what item the mouse is over
Use a Tips property node to write the correct string.
The hard part will be calculating what item the mouse is over, The Displayed Items property node should help.
I am actively working on a program that is centered around a tree control and might like to do the same.
If you need further help reply back

Tree control bug for vertical scrollbar
Dear all:
I meet a problem with tree control vertical scrollbar.Pls check the picture
If set the rows of the properties of the Tree control is a number, also set the vertical scroll bar is visible.
Then if i set the height of Tree is unchangeable, then set the Tree childs rows are much more than the height, The problem is that the vertical scroll bar doesn't work. The height is increase than what i have set ,Maybe it is a bug? or not.
Anybody find this?

Error calling a method of the tree control in BDC
I'm connecting two systems Iplan(project management tool) with SAP PS using SAP XI.
I've written an BDC(RFC) to assign people for the activity in an project(cj20n) it works fine in the foreground. But it doesn't work in the background.It doesn't give me error also.I've sap all authorization.
When I connect with XI its throwing me an error "Error calling a method of the tree control" message type A (using the same user to connect r3). I believe something we should do prior handling the tree control in a BDC. IF any body come across this situation please let me know. your help is appreciated.
Regards
AnandBDCs over enjoy transactions do not get along together. The containers and controls is more of a gui thing, and in background sometimes the BDC has a hard time with them. I would suggest using the non-enjoy tcode instead, CJ20.

Tree Control Property Node for Accessing "Child Text" String Array
When adding items to a tree control using the EditTreeItems invoke nodes, the inputs include "Child Tag", "Item Indent", "Child Only?", "Glyph Index", "Child Text", and "Left Cell String" as can be seen in this screenshot.
There are property nodes for the tree control for accessing each of these elements, except for the "Child Text", which is an array of strings. It is possible to access this data as outlined in this forum post, but this method is somewhat involved and round about.
I suggest that a property for the Tree class be created to access the Child Text array directly.The work around only works if you do not have an empty string element some where in the middle.
At lest could the "Active Celltring Property" read return an error when you have gone beyond the end of the array. -

Here is a sample routine (taken from BCALV_TREE_02) which you have to add and adapt for your report. It does two things:
1. Register events that should be handled (required but not sufficient for event handling)
2. Set event handler for registered events
The first step is different from ALV grid controls because here all events are already registered with the control (not the control framework).
Set the event handler (statement SET HANDLER) registers the event handling with the control framework.
FORM register_events.

* from frontend to backend.
DATA: lt_events TYPE cntl_simple_events,

*§4a. Frontend registration(i): get already registered tree events.
* The following four tree events registers ALV Tree in the constructor
* method itself.
* - cl_gui_column_tree=>eventid_expand_no_children
* (needed to load data to frontend when a user expands a node)
* - cl_gui_column_tree=>eventid_header_context_men_req
* (needed for header context menu)
* - cl_gui_column_tree=>eventid_header_click
* (allows selection of columns (only when item selection activated))
* - cl_gui_column_tree=>eventid_item_keypress
* (needed for F1-Help (only when item selection activated))
* Nevertheless you have to provide their IDs again if you register
* additional events with SET_REGISTERED_EVENTS (see below).
* To do so, call first method GET_REGISTERED_EVENTS (this way,
* all already registered events remain registered, even your own):
call method g_alv_tree->get_registered_events
importing events = lt_events.
* (If you do not these events will be deregistered!!!).
* You do not have to register events of the toolbar again.
*§4b. Frontend registration(ii): add additional event ids

Several branches in tree control binding. How?
I have set up a tree control binding which represents a master-detail relationship between two database-tables in my ADF-application.
In my JSP i show all rows from the "customer" table and all related "order" rows for that customer. It looks like this:
Customer1
- Order 1
- Order 2
- Order 3
Customer2
- Order 1
Customer3
- Order 1
- Order 2
This works very well, but now I need to add a new detail-table to this relationship; For every customer I want to show all orders and all documents related to that customer. The result should be something like this:
Customer1
- Order 1
- Order 2
- Order 3
- Document 1
Customer2
- Order 1
- Document 1
- Document 2
Customer3
- Order 1
- Order 2
- Document 1
- Document 2
- Document 3
Is there a way to set up a tree binding with one root and several branches? I need to have them in the same binding because I only want to loop the root-nodes once. I tried to add another rule to my existing tree binding, but how can I refer to which children I want to display in my jsp code (i.e orders or customers)? I loop through my rootnodes with the following code:
<c:forEach var="Row" items="${bindings.DCTree.rootNodeBinding.children}">
How can I refer to my "orders"-children og "documents" children in order to choose which branch to loop?
A bit difficult to explain my problem, but I hope anyone can help me out!
Thanx
