Highlight Text for Lookup Fields

I hope this question isn't too silly.
I have a large database that I have used the wizard to create a look-up table for one of the repetitive fields. The text names are now all numbers in the primary table and at run time are displayed as text via the look-up table. Everything works very well the only thing I would like to do is to have the 'Highlight Words' work when I do a search. Usually something like '&P42_REPORT_SEARCH.' works. The problem is that the database table does hold those values any more. Does anyone have any ideas?
Kind Regards,
Steve Welch

  • Highlight text for Print

I am trying to find a way to be able to highlight text in a document and and then print it with the text highlighted (as you would when reading an article and marking thru important points with a pen highlighter) Also how would I highlight multiple but different text lines so that they all show? I can't seem to find a key that will allow it. (ie. control or option key)
    Thanks for your advice,
    Glen

ApleWorks doesn't provide for any method to directly "highlight text for printing," or for display on a monitor, for that matter. The 'highlighting' you see after dragging across a line or block of text is an indication that the text is Selected, and may now be manipulated, but tat highlighting will not appear on a printed page.
You can "place a colour block behind" the text to create an effect similar to running a hi-liter across the text on a printed page, it's fairly easy, and the result will print.
Show the Tools palette (Window > Show tools, or click the red toolbox at the lower left of the document window).
Use the Rectangle tool to draw a rectangle that just covers the text you want to highlight.
Use the Fill formatting button then the color palette to select a highlight colour. Repeat using the formatting button then the color palette to set the line colour to the same value as the fill colour.
Copy the rectangle so that you can re-use it.
Go Arrange > Move to back to place the rectangle behind the (now highlighted) text.
Still in Draw mode (you should have the Arrow mouse pointer—if not, click on the Selection tool {arrow} in the tools palette), Paste another copy of the coloured rectangle, drag it to the next line of text you want to highlight, and adjust the length to cover the text to be highlighted. Move to back as above. Repeat as necessary.
NOTE that these rectangles are not part of the text, but floating objects. If you edit text above the highlighted portion, change fonts or size, or change style (eg. to bold), the text to be highlighted will move, but the rectangles will not. Best to leave this highlighting until you've finished otherwise revising text.
NOTE2: When resizing small rectangles like this, it's easy to change their height when trying to change only their length.
TIP: When you have one the right size for the text size and font you are using, select it, then go Options > Object size... and note the height of the object, reported in the second box in the right column. For subsequent highlight rectangles, after adjusting the length to fit the text to be highlighted, open the Object size dialogue, enter the correct size into the Height box, then press tab to confirm the entry.

  • Crawled Property - Related fields for Lookup Fields

    I have two lists -
    List1
    AuthorName
    AuthorCountry
    List2
    Book
    AuthorName (lookup from List1)
AuthorCountry (additional field from List1 based on lookup field AuthorName)
I can see ows_AuthorName as a crawled property. But if I want to get the associated AuthorCountry is there a way to get it? Even though I have a column for related AuthorCountry field there is no crawled property for it.
    Thanks in advance,
    Jake.

If you create a Site Column and add it to the list instead of a regular list column, it automatically creates a corresponding crawled property & managed property. this would be the easiest

  • Highlighting TEXT - not the field - and clearing the set value for a new one

I have a form in which various text fields are set with a message to inform the user as to what kind of information I want typed in. My goals are:
    1. Have the text get highlighted so when the user starts typing, the "old" value gets replaced with the "new"
    2. Or, when the user tabs or clicks in the field all of the "old" value is deleted and they can start typing the "new" value from the beginning of the field.
I am trying to eliminate having to manually highlight the field in order to type in the needed information. But each field needs to start with a value so the user knows what kind of information I am looking for.
Does this make sense? By the way, I have no JavaScript experience...uh oh!

Use the Media Manager (under the File menu bar item).

  • How to change heading text  for parameter field of type date

    Hi,
After creating a parameter field with the type " Date Time" when I open the report for entering the parameter then it displays  the given parameter with the following text:
" Please enter Date in format "yyyy-mm-dd". "
I want to change it to some other text like as:
" You have to enter the date and time in format yyyy-mm-dd . "
Is there any way by which I can change this given header to some other text.
Let me know if anyone needs some more information in this regard so as to solve my given query soon.

    Hi Garrett,
Well first of all I can change only the prompt text that is user defined. I cannot change any parameter as of now whose type is let suppose Date. Since in this case the Business Object itself shows the text which is something like this " Please enter Date in format "yyyy-mm-dd". " .
Here I want to change this given text to some other format like " You have to enter the date in the format yyyy-mm-dd" or in any other manner.
Also the current Crystal Report version which I am using is 11.0.0.1282.

  • Feature request...rich-text for notes field

I hope Adobe reads these posts!  Notes in Presenter would be much better if they accepted rich-text.  This only makes sense since the Notes field in PowerPoint is rich-text.  Please add this feature in future releases.

    Hello,
You could get directly to the Adobe team if you filled out a proper feature request. Here is the link:
    https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform&product=5
Then you will be sure that they read your request, and they do, believe me,

  • "Additional Text" set for messageTextInput fields in Classic Table

i have set "Additional Text" for messageTextInput fields in Classic Table and am expecting that to display when the mouse is hovering on that field. however, that is not happening...
what am i doing wrong ? and what can i do to achieve that (NOTE - i cannot do either short or Long Tip because that looks wierd when data is displayed in a table (multiple rows))
    thank you.
UPDATE - could anyone tell me where/when/how does the "Additional Text" data get displayed when the page is rendered ? there is hardly any info on this in the devguide and forum. If "Addtional Text" is not the right way to provide additional information on a field what else can be used (note these fields are in a classic table so i cannot use short/long tip)......

  • Header Text for Field Catalog ALV Grid doubt ..

    Hi everybody
I have an ALV Grid List Report (REUSE_ALV_LIST_DISPLAY)
but i have a trouble:  the header texts for the fields are always truncated to 10 positions.
The code for fill the Field Catalog are:
      CLEAR l_field_cat.
      l_field_cat-COL_POS       =  2.
      l_field_cat-FIELDNAME     =  'AVERAGE'.
      l_field_cat-TABNAME       =  'T_REPORT'.
      l_field_cat-REF_TABNAME   =  'RPSCO'.
      l_field_cat-REF_FIELDNAME =  'WLP00'.
      l_field_cat-SELTEXT_S   =  TEXT-004. <- 'AverageAmount' 20 lenght
      l_field_cat-DDICTXT       =  'S'.
      l_field_cat-KEY           =  ' '.
      l_field_cat-KEY_SEL       =  ' '.
      APPEND l_field_cat  TO  p_field_cat.
But, although the column appears with 20 characters lenght, the header text appears 'AverageAmo', and it is in the same way for all the fields, even with fields with 40 characters lenght.
What am i doing incorrect ?
    Thanks in Advanced
    Frank

That is because of field I_field_cat-SELTEXT_S.
This will always display 10 char long text.
To avoid truncating you can specify length for the header.
    Try this
            x_fieldcat-seltext_l = TEXT-004.
            x_fieldcat-outputlen = 20.
            x_fieldcat-ddictxt   = c_l.
