Highlight Words After Querying

I have a report in which I query several columns. I want to be able to highlight the word I'm querying wherever the word is found (same functionality you have in this forum when clicking on "search"). I think the answer might be in:
Home>Application Builder>Application 103>Page Definition>Report Attributes>Column Attributes>column formatting>highlight words
I tried to put the item name and then the syntax, but it doesn't seem to work.

Then “&P101_NAME.” for instance. Do not forget “dot” at the end.
P101_NAME should be replaced by your item which you are in attributes!

Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
    b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
     Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
     COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and
     after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears.
     Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
     Reinstall the 10.9.2 update: OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 Update (Combo).
4. Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
Reinstall the 10.9.2 update: OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 Update (Combo).

How to remove highlighted word on safari which cause pop-up ads

How can I remove highlighted words in safari? it also pop up ads when I move marker to these words. I am attaching a picture which shows clearly what i mean.
after every highlighted word it can also be seen a green symbol.

From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.

Mail underline or highlight words

Yes. After you select your text to format it - Tap the arrow that points to the right in the next black box that pops up and then another box pops up with a B/I/U - bold, italics and underline. Tap that option to format your text.
There are a couple of options to select text - Select and Select all - so experiment to see how it works.

Highlight words in link column..how to retain case?

I learned a lot from this thread... Highlight Search results within a linked column ...and I have the solution implemented and working perfectly...almost.
My query is essentially as follows...

Without the search and highlight words enabled...the result is essentially...

With the search and highlight words enabled...the result for searching on "a" is...

My small remaining issue is that the replaced and highlighted search term is always inserted in the case (upper/lower) that the search term was entered. In contrast, the default method utilized by ApEx seems to be able to retain the case when highlighting the text.
Any idea how I can retain the case within my highlight words link column?
Any idea how the ApEx function does this? (maybe the concept can be applied)

Safari is highlighting words and linking them to ads? also getting a lot of pop ups

Safari has started randomly highlighting words and linking them to ads? I'm also getting a lot of pop up ads in new windows and tabs. I googled how to get rid of it and people said to delete extensions and cookies and also block cookies from third parties and advertisers. I've done all this but it is still happening. Any suggestions??

You installed the "DownLite" trojan, perhaps under a different name. Remove it as follows.
Malware is constantly changing to get around the defenses against it. The instructions in this comment are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)

I don't believe there is a keyboard shortcut available for that feature. But I believe if you click-select the topmost chapter, and Shift-click the bottommost chapter, it should select them all.
Other shortcuts for books can be set up in Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts in the Panel Menus product area. There are no default shortcuts in that area.

Conditionally disabling record updation after query

Dear members
I've a single record block and I wanna conditionaly disable records updation after query has fetched data. Problem is that if I disable the record updation in Post-Query trigger then it checks the condition for the very first fetched record and it the condition is true, then Updation is disabled for all the fetched records, even if the next records dont meet the condition. I'm using forms-10g. Can u give a better solution??? thanx.

you have to use SET_ITEM_INSTANCE_PROPERTY to modify only one record:

it is usually one highlighted word that when touched, opens up a small window of related companies or info or websites that I might be interested in. one word "presenter" was highlighted, touched it with my cursor, and I think caught a damaging virus.

Acrobat 8 Unable to Search for words after convertion from mircrosoft word

Hi all,
I got a problem with a user using Adobe Acrobat 8 search function. he converted his Microsoft Word document to PDF file. But he is unable to search/find most of the words after convention, even thou the word is right there it will just say it cannot find any matches.
His colleague have acrobat 7 and it has no such problem at all.
Erm is there any setting to for me to change or is there a need to update any patches? One more thing the Word document is make up of textboxs so is this the cause?
I would like some Expert here to give some advise/help here as i cannot downgrade to acrobat 7.

Sorry, I make a mistake. He only can select some of the text document and only those can be searched. What is the cause and any setting to change?

2 Tried Using create Pdf -->Select the file, but the result is still the same. However
3 i tired to use Adobe PDF(printer) I am able to seach everything.
I haven tell the user the workround for no3, but i dun think he wants it and some need to adjust the margins.

Combo Box in Portal Form resets after query

Hello all,
I have a portal form based on Stored Procedure. In it I have a Location combo box and Query button in addition to few text items. Users can select location from the drop down list and hit Query button to view the values in for the text items. The query part is working fine. But after query the Location resets to Null (as the LOV which feeds the combo box can have Null). We would like to keep the location they chose to query up even after the query results. Any help is appreciated.
The Location item is in the parameters of the Stored Procedure. Initially it was IN, later I changed to IN OUT but there is no change in functionality.
I also removed the ability to accept NULL for the LOV which feeds Location Combo box but now it is displaying the first location on the list after the query, which is even worse.

You're catching Exceptions in empty catch() blocks. There might have been an exception, but you won't know if the catch block doesn't do anything.
Try something like this:
catch(SQLException e){
System.err.println( "Problem with db query"+e.getMessage() );
e.printStackTrace( System.err );
}in order to see what's going wrong with your code.

Change color for highlight words

I'm using the highlight words column attribute for a report with a search parameter. I was wondering if there is a way to change the color of the text that is highlighted? The html that is generated wraps the highlighted word with search string

sql functions like INSTR, SUBSTR, and DECODE are good for this...
