Highlighted items in sidebar

The default items in the sidebar are highlighted when selected. Yet when an alias (not of a default) is placed inthe sidebar and then selected they are not highlighted. The alias will open and there are no problems but it is a convenience to have the items highlighted when selected. Is this typical behavior for the finder with OS 10.4 or is there a problem?

Try draging the actual file or folder to the sidebar, instead of an alias. The sidebar will make it an alias automatically. The original will not be moved.

Can I highlight items in the open sites listing

in the open sites listing on the left side, is there any way I can differentiate by highlighting items. Case in point, I have to search through the entire listing to locate my open gmail, if it was obvious, I could find it faster.
Also, if a webinar is playing, I cannot tell from the opened list of sites, which one it is, without clicking on each one, there must be a simpler way to locate these opened sites.

Highlighting items unsuccesfull due to incorrect variable length

I had a problem with highlighting items in a block. The cause was package body QMS$RECORD in library QMSLIB50, in which the variable L_CUR_ITEM is defined as VARCHAR2(50), which is, offcourse, too small, because blocknames can be 30 chars en itemnames can be 30 chars.

- SaishDang! I tried my own suggestion by moving the XMLAnswerHandler class into the doPost(...) method and the instance variables also. The compiler then complained that the instance variables had to be declared final in order to have the XMLAnswerHandler class use them. However, that makes the variables read-only. That's no good for me. Its the XMLAnswerHandler class that is supposed to set those variables!
So, are you saying make XMLAnswerHandler class a private class and external to the servlet? Would that mean I would have to encorporate static get methods in XMLAnswerHandler class to obtain the ArrayList and int QuestionCount ?

How is highlighted item in the toplevel navigation bar chosen?

I have an Iview (containing a BSP froma CRM backend system) in the Portal (EP6) which contains a hyperlink, which contains this:

When I click the hyperlink, a new Portal window opens with another backend iView. Here is the strange thing: for some people the highlighted toplevel navigation item is correct (matches what the new iView is actually showing), but for other people the very first (leftmost) item in the toplevel navigation is highlighted instead. In this case it seems that some selection of the highlighted item has failed and the Portal simply picks the very first one to be the highlighted item. The difference is in the persons Roles. The hyperlink is identical, but the resulting screen is different (and the URL visible in the new window is identical as well!).
When I bring this problem to the Portal developers at my company, they tell me it is probably a backend application error. However, the BSP always creates the same hyperlink, and once clicked the backend CRM system is not utilized in any way I can think of.
So, can anyone out there a) think of some possible ways in which the different EP Roles can affect this, so I can suggest things that the Portal developers can look for, and b) what kinds of traces can I run so that I can then show a difference to the Portal developers.
Or could it REALLY be a backend application problem? I am not a Portal person so I just need some ammunition to get the Portal guys working on the problem.

OK - here's the official answer from SAP... the users for which it was not working had manager profiles. There are two sets of profiles, one in EP, one in CRM. The CRM database table that links them is CRMC_PRT_ROLE_MO. This table looks at the CRM Roles, picks the one with highest priority, and assigns a string to the hyperlink. The string is passed to the Portal where it is interpreted according to the EP Role.
Our solution (from SAP): create a manager role in CRM, assign a special string to that Role, and give it a higher priority than the regular role.

Can't delete items in sidebar in finder

i can't delete a folder thats in the sidebar. when i command click all it says is "open sidebar preferences". when i try to move the folder over to the same folder thats in the sidebar it says "the alias (foldername) can't be found because the original item can't be found". it won't let me delete the alias, so when i click "fix alias" it comes up with a box telling me to find the source file. but it won't let me click anything so i'm forced to say cancel, and when i say cancel i have box pop up saying "error code 8060".
how can i fix this and delete the folder that i have in the sidebar in finder?

Hi Debbie, try holding the Option/alt key while dragging off, or maybe it's the CMD key, can't quite remember.

Highlighting item on form

Hi, In forms3.0 when the cursor was on the current item the item
was highlighted. In forms 6i I can highlight the item by using
the "Current Record Visual Attribute Group" property to set the
highlight.
Is there anyway I can replicate the functionality of forms3.0? I
want to highlight the current item only and when I move to the
next item the highlight moves too.

1) Create a parameter to keep track of the current/previous
item. In this example I called my parameter ITEM_NAME
2) create a visual attribute for the highlight
3) create a visual attribute for normal colors
4)Create a Form level WHEN-NEW-ITEM-INSTANCE

Duplicate items in Sidebar

I have 4 exact duplicates of my main Places icons. They appear to be linked to one another, because clicking on any of the duplicate ones (beyond the first set) simply selects the matching item in the first set.
If I try and remove one of the duplicate icons, it removes all of the related items. For instance, I tried removing the 2nd Sites icon and this removed all the Sites icons.

Navigate to /Users/Home/Library/Preferences folder and remove the com.apple.sidebars.plist. Put it in the trash and restart. Does the problem go away?

Duplicate Shared Items in Sidebar

Hi:
Weird one. Suddenly all the shared items in my sidebar are doubled. I have Capsule and Capsule (2), NashServer and NashServer (2), etc. Deleting the finder prefs dosn't fix it. Flushing caches does nothing. That is about the extent of my skill set. Anybody have any further ideas?

How to get the Highlighted Item on DataGrid?

I've already searched in a bunch of sites and forums, and i can't find anything...
I need to get some data on the Highlighted (not selected) Item on my DataGrid (I intend to use MouseOver event)...
does anyone have a clue on how to do that?

             I have done some exercise on that but i could not found any solution for this .. but one thing when u use mouse over effect flex will take the object of the datagrid not that object of the row u mentioned..
         when u place mouse on that datagrid it will automatically take that datagrid as object i think so ..
                   let us know if u get any solutions on that perticular task.. Because i have some what interest on this task.. This is some what new task for me to work out...

How increase number of items in sidebar

I seem to be geting a roll over in sidebar items. Is there a limit, and, if so, how can the number of items allowed be increased?

I don't know if an actual figure for the maximum
number of sidebar items has been published, let alone
how to increase the limit if there is one.
I do remember someone posting that they could no
longer add items to the bottom of the list after a
certain point, but they could continue to add items
to the upper part of the list. It seems that these
zones also affect the ability to rearrange items as
well - attempting to rearrange in the lower part
causes the item to be removed with no option to
cancel the action, whereas items in the upper part
could be dragged around at will. I suppose at that
point the ".plist" file could be edited manually if
things in the lower part needed to be rearranged.
Edit: Here's the post. This isn't an issue I'm
familiar with, but there may be others if you try
searching the forums...

Thanks! I will ty adding items to the top section and see what affect it has. I suspect there is a way to set the number of items. Hoeever, it is not life threatening, just anoying.

Remove the highlighted item

Hello all,
I got a problem hope you can help me. I have 2 lists in 2 scroll panes. I'd my application can handle: when user selects an item from list one (the item will be highlighted), the item in list 2 that user selected before must be deselected (remove the highlight from the list 2).
How can implement it. I knew how to set selected item (JList.setSelectedIndex(5)) but I don't know how to de-select it.

How to delete a Word doc that won't highlight from Finder sidebar

I have a Word 'doc' in the sidebar in Finder which no longer either highlights or opens (it used to). I would like to delete it. If I double tap it I get: Open Sidebar Preferences which doesn't help. I have tried Command and both command and option and, because it will not even select (i.e. highlight) I can't drag it to trash or delete it. Any ideas how to delete it? I have successfully removed other Word docs from the sidebar.

CMD-Drag, works for me.

Hi. I'm running OS 10.6.7, and I can't seem to delete items from my sidebar. I understand all you need to do is drag it out of the sidebar, but nothing doing. Any ideas would be most helpful.

Hold the command key when dragging off the sidebar. This has changed in 10.6.7.

How can you make the Chart "Color Highlights" Item Condition val a variable

Hi,
I have a report with a chart on it.
The chart has on Item Condition on it to change the color of each bar to red if the value is under a certain value.
This value needs to be passed in as a parameter to the report.
The condition looks like this
if Avg PerformancePercent < 90 then bar color = red
The 90 in this condition needs to be set from a parameter P_PerformancePercent_Threshold.
I am producing the report in Visual Studio 2005 using CrystalReportViewer to display the report.
Since the value field seems to only take in numeric values I have assumed there is no way to use a parameter something like.
So I am looking at doing this through code.
The object model for the ChartObject does not have many properties/methods on it.
Is there any other way to achieve this?

Can I highlight items in a scanned document

I scanned documents into a PDF file. Now I would like to go into that document and highlight some things but can't figure out how to do it or don't know if is possible. Please help.
