Highlighting a character in iMovie

I am trying to figure out if it is possible to highlight my daughter playing in a soccer match so she will be more easily identifiable from the other players in the iMovie I am attempting to make.

me being a 'soccer Dad', any post containing that keyword catches my attention..
to highlight someone/-thing, you can use the 'apply transparent png' trick..
details on my site:

(scroll down to 'alpha chanel')
or
http://karsten.schluter.googlepages.com/im08_logobug
(imagine, you create a 'mask', 50% grey, with a 'hole' which highlights a part of the movie) like

  • Tibetan character in iMovie titles not working.. :(

Hello to all the intelligent people,
    Mac OS X version 10.9.4
    iMovie version 10.0.4
When i try to write a Tibetan character in iMovie titles which is in this case 2 letters on top of each other isn't coming out as it should be.
This is what I'm trying to write... for example: སློབ་གྲྭ           Instead of getting that word (which means school) I get this: ས ླ ོ་ག ྲ ྭ
It does work when i use the first two rows of iMovie titles but the rest like the 'Scrolling credits' and the newest titles aren't working.
Can somebody please help me with this issue?
(If you want to see the problem by yourself, you can copy the first characters above and it'll look like the second one which is unreadable.)
If you can help me with this problem it would mean the world to me.
By the way, I already went to the Apple store and called the support telephone but no one could help me there.
I have been waiting for the newest update before i post this but the new update didn't do anything about my issue with the iMovie titles.
I really hope someone will write me and help me out.
    Greetings,
    T.C.G.

First of all, I really want to thank you for responding on my question.
can you please tell me where i can find the kailasa and kokomor?
I'm using the Tibetan QWERTY board...same as the one in iPhone i guess..?
when i check on the Tibetan keyboard on mac, and choose the middle one from the 3keyboards which normally works perfect on iMac Doesn't work that well anymore..(it comes out like the 2nd character above)
once again thank you for responding and hoping you'll help me through if possible.

  • Highlighting a character in a string by mouse click

    Hi ,
I am developing a software simulation for gene expression ( DNA - Protein ) using awt and applet. I cannot use swing. I am displaying the DNA and MRNA and PROTEIN with the help of drawstring. I have stored every single nucleotide base in the DNA as a separate object.
I want to be albe to click on any nucleotide base ( character) in the DNA and highlight it. Also I want to highlight the corresponding MRNA and PROTEIN.
Could you please suggest me a way to do this.
    Thanks,
    Prasoon

ok, just curious. How would you do it in Swing ? The only reason I am not allowed to use swing is because I want the application to be able to run in Netscape 4.7 and IE 4

  • IMovie Style for Highlight Video

I want to make a highlight video. The iMovie film trailer styles would be great if there were a way for me to "cut" the credits that appear at the end. Is there a way to do that? If not, is there some other iMovie style that can be downloaded to make a highlight video?

Once you have a Trailer in your Project Library, you can use the File>Convert to Project command to allow to edit it's various elements' like cutting out the credits.

  • How do I save an iMovie onto a dvd?

I am trying to save an imovie onto a dvd to play at a later date. I have tried Burn and it doesn't let me highlight the project in imovies and ilife or idvd is not for sale in the app store. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

You need to export the movie first before it can be used in a DVD authoring program (such as Burn or iDVD).
With your project open go to iMovie's menu and select File > Share > File. This will produce a file in H.264 format which will be suitable for burning and for playback on DVD players.
I'm assuming that you are using iMovie 10 (the latest 2013 version). If not, a similar method applies to iMovie '11 and earlier versions. Please post back if you need further instructions about this.

  • Can't insert characters from Character Viewer

I have used Character Viewer in the past. The way it worked was to highlight the character in Character Viewer and then click the "insert" button. I can bring up Character Viewer and see all the characters, but even after highlighting a character, I cannot insert it into the document.
Anybody else have the same problem? Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

You need to have a machine with 10.6 on it, then find the CharacterPalette.app in System/Library/Input Methods, then move it to your mountain lion machine.

  • Character Mystery

I originally posted this in the Illustrator forum, but it's probably more appropriate here.
A web programmer friend asked for some help with a very odd character problem he's having with an XML file. There is a character within the file that is causing a parsing problem. I copied the line into Illustrator thinking that the glyphs panel would reveal what it is. It doesn't. The character appears either as a box or as a diamond with a question mark in it. When I highlight the character, nothing shows up for the glyph. Weirder yet, if I change the font for the entire line of text, the character doesn't change. Anyone have any idea on how to figure out what this thing is? This is the text (I don't know whether passing it through to the forum will change or remove it, but it's the character after the Rn).
    Rn_Mapk1 Control
The forum software converts it to an HTML entity, one I believe means 'out of range'. The following is an attempt to paste in the offending character without quoting it:
    Rn_Mapk1 Control
I've been trying to GREP the character in ID, but can't even paste it into any field. It's like the character doesn't really exist, but yet I can see it in the text.

    >If you know the unicode, you can search for any character in regular mode (enter as hex: "<fffd>") or in grep mode (as escaped hex: "\x{fffd}"). <br /><br />That's just it: I don't know and can't seem to extract the unicode for it. I tried copying and pasting into different dialogs, but nothing appears when I paste. I did find out that the original text came out of an SAP system in Germany, but that hasn't really helped track down what the weird character is. There are two of them, presumably identical, in this particular file.<br /><br />I did try Kenneth Benson's suggestion to export it as tagged text, but the tagged text either shows a square, FFFD, or 0xFFFD. My real goal here is to find out what the character is so that we can tell the people creating it, "Don't do that". They're not being much help in figuring it out. There is going to be a lot more of this in the future, which is why I'm trying to find out what the character is.

  • I want to learn imovie '11 in depth.

Does anyone know of a tutorial either paid or free?
    Thanks!

iMovie 11 is the latest version, which builds on the features of iMovie 08 and iMovie 09. I mention that, because some of these tutorials are for iMovie 08 or 09 but still valuable.
Here are the iMovie 08 Video Tutorials.
I especially like the one called Working With Audio Clips.
Here are the iMovie 09 Video Tutorials
Here is an excellent written Tutorial for iMovie 09 from Ken Stone.
There are good iMovie 11 Video Tutorials, but you have to access them through the iMovie Help Menu.
Here are some good videos highlighting the changes in iMovie 11.

  • Show Nested Character Styles in Character Palette

When a character style is nested in a paragraph style it would be nice if the Character palette highlighted the character style used when text with that nested paragraph/character style is selected.
It would also be nice if when a character style used in a nested style is changed on the page (and not through the character style) if then the "Redefine Style" option from the Character palette fly-out menu could be used to redefine the style.

I posted this in another thread before I discovered this one:
I just upgraded to Pages 5.
I opened a document that I'd been working on in the previous version of Pages. It has several styles, incuding a bulleted list style called "main bullet".
I attempted to apply that style to a section of text, and while it did indent the text properly, it did not add bullets. (Also, in the Style panel a bullet does not appear next to the "main bullet" style as it does in Pages 4. This was my first clue that something was wrong.)
So I went back in the text to a bulleted list that uses the "main bullet" style. I selected the text, then went to the Style panel and chose "main bullet" > update style. This did not seem to help. The "main bullet" style still has no bullet next to it in the Style panel, and when I tried again to apply it to some text, the bullet doesn't appear.
I decided to try a different style, in this case "body". I went to a section that has the "main bullet" style, selected it, and applied "body". The indentation changed, but it did not remove the bullet as it was supposed to.
Is this a bug, or do styles work differently in Pages 5?
It appears that styles do not include formatting like bullets, which, if true, is a huge problem.
I was also upset to learn that once I've opened a document in Pages 5, I can no longer open it in Pages 4. So I'm essentially stuck with Pages 5 whether I like it or not.
    Is anyone else noticing this?

  • UTF8 character problems

I am working in a pan-european organisation and have encountered a problem with printing a special character from the Swedish alphabet. It shows up in the OPP log with an Invalid UTF8 encoding message. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I could get round this?

    Hi Tim,
    thanks for the reply.
The output does not even get generated - it fails before that stage.
I am using reports 6i to extract the data - basically I am replacing the layout.
    top of the XML is:
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
<!-- Generated by Oracle Reports version 6.0.8.27.0 -->
    <CBASCINV_V5>
    <LIST_G_F_DEL_DETAIL_ID>
and the offending piece if text with the character in it is:
    Supplier: KAR Sj÷ding
The offending character is whatever is represented by the division sign.
If I try to load the file into Word via the data import, it throws out an error message saying 'an invalid character was found in texy content' and highlighting this character.
This does not apply to all Swedish characters - this <C_FROM_ADDRESS_2>Konstruktionsvägen 14</C_FROM_ADDRESS_2>
    prints without any problems!
    Thanks again

  • Bullets and Transparent text boxes

    hello,
I've checked out the postings already for this issue and
appreciate Ricks tip on fixing the font blur issue. However, I have
another bug with bullets in transparent text boxes.
Upon preview or publish of a project, I see a ghost color (a
little lighter) of my background color which is light blue . So,
basically the text box is no longer transparent and looks really
    bad.
    Any ideas,
    Lisa

    Hi Rick,
Let me describe what is happening a little more clearly. Here
is the basics so maybe you can reproduce it. I belive I did come up
    with a fix for myself.
    1) Add a background image to the slide that is merged not an
    overlay image
    - My image is a png file imported into the library and added
to every slide. It has a solid light blue background with a dark
blue strip on top and a brand from the client at the top left (very
    basic)
    2) Add a transparent text box caption
    3) Add text that includes bullet points
Result: When you put a text caption with bullets over a slide
background that is an image(even solid color) you get a ghost that
oulines the text caption dimensions. If the text caption doesn't
have bullets, the ghost outline doesn't appear, but the text is
blurry. Obviously the text can be fixed by highlighting on
    character in #C0C0C0.
My temporary fix: Because the ghost ouline seems to appear
when a text caption with bullets is on top of a background image, I
modifed my background image so that the light blue part (this is
the area when all the content will be) is actually transparent and
no longer a color. I then set color for all slides backgrounds to
be the light blue that was origninally in my image. This seems to
work, but there are some color fading issues that I need to explore
    and work out more.
Thanks much and look forward to pushing the boundaries of
Captivate once I my head around it more.
P.S If I have a background image on each screen (branding and
consistent purposes), when I set up a simulation, do I have to
merge each screen shot into the background or can the screen shots
created by Captivate just overlay my background image.

  • Using scroll wheel with modifier key to zoom out is not working

I can't zoom out with the magnifying tool selected in all programs of the CS3 suite using the option key on a Mac. I can zoom in with no problem. I've been trying to figure this out for "8 hours" now!!!
I do have this checked in the system preferences and Photoshop preferences. I don't think this is considered a keyboard shortcut but I do have universal access checked and zoom out checked in the system preferences.
I searched this site and all of the internet looking for answers but can't seem to find much. I appreciate any help you can give. I'm way behind on my work today.
    Thank you!

The default key for scrolling zoom is not Command but Control. To change this, go to System Preferences —> Universal Access and click on the Seeing tab. In the Zoom pane, click on the Options button, and in the sheet that drops down, select the text box at the bottom, highlight the character there, then press the modifier key you prefer.

  • Technical note:  Troubleshooting DRG-11207 errors / INSO filters.

    All,
The following is Metalink's Note 210319.1about troubleshooting DRG-11207 errors.
If the content is of no help, I suggest contacting Oracle support.
    -Omar
    Subject: Troubleshooting DRG-11207 errors
    INTRODUCTION
    =============
Most of the errors encountered during creation of Oracle Text indexes are likely
to be caused when dealing with formatted documents. These errors are logged in the
view CTX_USER_INDEX_ERRORS and can be queried from the schema where the create index
statement was executed, or table CTX_INDEX_ERRORS queried from the CTXSYS user.
One of the errors commonly reported in these views is the DRG-11207 error.
Unfortunately, this error is often not useful in diagnosing indexing issues.
The INSO_FILTER issues are difficult to diagnose because Oracle uses a third-party
application for filtering. As a result, it is often difficult to identify the real
    source of the problem.
This document will troubleshoot the INSO_FILTER errors associated with
    the
    DRG-11207 "exited with status X"
message. In regards to the INSO_FILTER, the error code implies that it is unable to
index a formatted document. It is important to mention that these errors can be operating
system specific and therefore this note is intended to provide some hints as a starting
point for analysis. Its possible that other cases may be reported and if this is the
case be sure to log the error with Oracle Support. Examples of the most common document
types are provided in this article (Adobe PDF, Micrsoft Word and Microsoft Excel).
For Oracle 10i, meaningful error messages have been added for drg-11207.
This has been documented in [BUG:2473885]
    COMMON ERRORS
    ==============
DRG-11207: user filter command exited with status 1
Status 1 means "Could not filter the document". It is a generic error and indicates that
INSO_FILTER failed on a given document. This can happen due to many documented reasons: an
    invalid environmental setting; document is corrupted, encrypted, password protected;
document version not supported(incompatibility) or due to a bug in INSO_FILTER.
DRG-11207: user filter command exited with status 2
Status 2 means "The INSO_FILTER has timed-out". The default value of the timeout value
for the INSO_FILTER is 120 (seconds). The default value for the timeout_type is
heuristic, which implies that if the timeout value is reached and the INSO_FILTER
has not started to write output, the indexing operation terminates for the document
row and Oracle moves to the next document row to be indexed. Beginning in 9.2.0.1
it is possible to change the timeout_type variable to fixed, which allows a
user to terminate filtering processing after the TIMEOUT seconds regardless of
whether filtering is progressing normally or hanging. The default timeout value
is generally enough for filtering most of the documents. If the timeout value is
not large enough then it may timeout even before filtering completes. PDF and
Microsoft Excel files are usually more prone to this timeout as the INSO_FILTER
generally takes more time to process these types of files. If this is the
case then you can create a preference with a larger timeout value in versions
8.1.7.1b and above. It should be noted, however, that the timeout attribute cannot be
changed dynamically. In order for the new timeout value to take effect, it
would be necessary to re-create the index with the new timeout attribute
    setting.
For example, in 9.2.x to alter the timeout to 600 seconds(10 minutes) and use
    the fixed timeout_type:
    begin
    ctx_ddl.create_preference('my_inso', 'INSO_FILTER');
    ctx_ddl.set_attribute('my_inso', 'timeout', '600');
    ctx_ddl.set_attribute('my_inso', 'timeout_type', 'FIXED');
    end;
Documented reasons for timing out are:
    1. the document is too large to be indexed in the alloted time set via TIMEOUT
    attribute.
    2. INSO_FILTER is hanging during the filtering.
DRG-11207: user filter command exited with status 127
Status 127 points to that likely an environmental issue with the shared library
    environmental variable.
DRG-11207: user filter command exited with status 137
Status 137 meand that the ctxhx executable was killed as the inso filter is not
set-up properly. Confirm that the correct environmental variables are
setup(LD_LIBRARY_PATH AND PATH) and the format of the document is
    supported by INSO_FILTER.
    ENVIRONMENTAL SETTINGS
    ======================
Please note that any DRG-11207 error may be caused by the setting of the
environmental variables. Be sure that the PATH and shared library path
which is LD_LIBRARY_PATH (SHLIB_PATH for HP-UX and LIBPATH for AIX) are
correct, since it is this setting which actually invokes the INSO_FILTER.
Note : it is also possible to define the environment variable
LD_LIBRARY_PATH in the listener.ora entry for extproc. This would be
included in the ENVS section of the origin database LISTENER.ORA:
    ENVS = 'LD_LIBRARY_PATH=<full_pathname_of_oracle_home>/ctx/lib:$ORACLE_HOME/lib'
    LD_LIBRARY_PATH should include
    <full_pathname_of_oracle_home>/ctx/lib:<full_pathname_of_oracle_home>/lib
    For example:
    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=<full_pathname_of_oracle_home>/ctx/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
    PATH should include
    <full_pathname_of_oracle_home>/ctx/bin:<full_pathname_of_oracle_home>/bin
[NOTE:133691.1] and [NOTE:135333.1] provides possible steps to get around this error.
    SUPPORTED DOCUMENT ATTRIBUTE CHECKLIST
    ======================================
    1. Determine if the filtered document is supported
A list of supported formats is provided in the InterMedia Text documentation
pages. Please check whether the format falls in the list of supported formats.
It is important to note that each Oracle version may support different
    versions of documents.
For PDF Acrobat (full version), click on File->Document_Info->General and
you should see the PDF version.
For Microsoft Word and Excel, click on File->Save As and review the
"Save as type" to determine the version.
    2. Determine if the document is corrupted
To verify if a document is corrupted, open the document and view it line
by line checking for corrupted output. Please note, just holding down the
"Page Down" button to view all the pages, it's possible that potential
corruption on a particular page will go unnoticed.
    3. Determine if the document is a secure or copy protected document
Password protected documents and documents with password protected contents
are not supported by the INSO_FILTER.
For PDF Acrobat (full version), click under file->document_info->security.
If the open password or security password is set to true then it's password
    protected.
For Microsoft Word, click under Tools->Options->Save. If the
"Password to open" or "Password to modify" appears as asterisks (*****),
    then the document is secured.
For Microsoft Excel, click under File->Save As->Tools->General options.
If the "Password to open" or "Password to modify" appears as
asterisks (*****), then the document is secured.
    4. Determine if the document is a encrypted
INSO_FILTER does not currently support encrypted documents.
For PDF Acrobat (full version), click under file->document_info->security.
If security method is none, the document is not encrypted. In other cases,
    it is encrypted.
For Microsoft Word, it is not possible to encrypt this type of document
    directly.
For Microsoft Excel, if the document is workbook protected then this
implies that the document is encrypted. To determine this click under
tools->protection and if the Unprotect Workbook or Unprotect
Sheet is shown, this implies that the workbook/worksheet is encrypted.
    5. Determine if the document has custom embedded fonts
Stellent filters will succeed on the majority of PDF documents containing
custom fonts. Until now, there have only been a few documented cases of
custom embedded fonts causing filtering problems with PDF documents. If
there is a filtering problem with custom fonts, it will only result in
garbage tokens being produced as a result of the custom font, whereas the
remainder of the PDF document using the standard/built-in font will be
    filtered properly.
To determine if custom embedded fonts are used for PDF Acrobat (full version),
click under file->document_info->fonts and review the encoding type.
The best way to identify whether a particular custom font will filter successfully
is to highlight the character, copy and paste into Notepad. If the output
contains garbage text then it is not likely to be filtered properly.
For Microsoft Word and Excel, regardless of what font is being used, the
INSO_FILTER should be able to extract the characters.

    Gary,
    This is two questions:
    1. The INSO filter on 8.1.7 when converting MS Word or WordPrefect Docs to HTML would give you <I> and <B> used in
the word processor. The 9.2.0.1 version is not converting <I> or <B> in the HTML. Is there any documentation
from the Company on using the ctxhx and template files? If <I> and <B> tags are missing in 9.2.0.1 then it is a bug in the INSO code.
    2. I have received an error in the CTX_USER_INDEX_ERRORS from one of the docs store in a BLOB here is the error.
DRG-11207: user filter command exited with status 1.
Is there a way to debug the ctxhx or INSO load libraries? I know what a 137 error is (NO LD_LIBRARY_PATH for ctx/lib)
but what a 1. Where is the FL_CMD_EXIT_ERR info? Status 1 is a generic error and you can't debug it. Could you please post your email address? I would like to contact you for a test case.
    Thanks.

  • Shortcut key not working in Illustrator CC...

Having used a keyboard shortcut in Illustrator for years, it is not working in CC. In previous versions, shift / opt / cmd + m threw you into the character font field. You could then start typing your desired font style without ever touching the mouse! It is not working in CC. After speaking with "someone" far far away - my issue was not resolved. I use this shortcut hundreds of times a day!
Has any one figured this out? I'll buy you lunch for a solution!!!

No, it should highlight the Character 'font' style i.e. Souvenir, Goudy, etc.
      Thanks.
