Highlighting an item in a scene

I am trying to "highlight" certain items in a scene in my movie.
The topic is on welding, and I start by saying "gather your supplies...you will need...a welding mask, protective gloves, a torch, etc..." and as I say each item, I want it to "light up."
I have a scene playing as I say "you will need..." and then I inserted a freeze frame & turned the color down on it (so it is nearly black & white). Then I laid that same freeze frame above it on a different track, and used the crop feature to highlight the items as they are listed. It just doesn't look very clean though...since you can only do a perfect square, and everything I want to highlight is not square.
I tried the vignetting effect, but that just vignettes the whole scene, you can't specify where you want it to highlight.
Please let me know some suggestions for how to acheive the look I am going for. Let me know if you need more details.

There are many possibilities for doing what you want.

One variation on Track Matte Keying would be to perhaps make your video at that point B/W, and then with Track Matte Keying, change the desired object to full color.

Another technique, which is a variation on above, would be to create a Shape that is only Stroked (not Filled), that surrounds the object, with a bright Stroke and perhaps a Glow.

Have patience. You only aske the question about 40 minutes earlier.
You highlight rows like you want by writing values to the tree control. Don't mess with cell background color.
Are you trying to highlight multiple items? If so, then right click on the control and allow it to select 0 or more items. As soon as you select a mode with the possibility of more than one item, the tree values become an array of strings rather than just a string. You will need to build an array of strings that you will write to the control's local variable to highlight the multiple items.

Illustrator CS2 doesn't highlight selected items any more

hello, i use illustrator cs2, and since a few days - without having changed any options - the program doesn't highlight selected items any more. neither does it highlight selected text... so editing items becomes a guessing game which is extremeley annoying... i can't find anything on this in the help file... i hope anybody here can help me!

Highlight an item in a SQL-report

I have a table in which items are stored with a column "name" and a column "correct".
I need to highlight an item (put backgroundcolor in red) in a SQL-report based on the fact if the value of the column "correct" of the item is False. I don't know how I can do this? Can anyone help?

Usually Acrobat has linked to PhotoShop to do the photo editing. You might check the updates for Acrobat and PhotoShop.

How do I highlight multiple items on my computer?

I am in a class, and I am trying to highlight or select more than one option to answer a question. Unfortunately, I am not having any success. I am holding down the command button but when I go to highlight B, C is no longer selected.

When you say "items", what do you mean? Multiple highlighting works with files in the Finder, photos in iPhoto and some other applications - what application are you working in? Is it a specific program, or some kind of form you're filling in on the web? Web forms have to be specially programmed by the creator to accept multiple answers - if they haven't done that, you won't be able to multiple-select, not even using the command key.

I can't seem to find how to have an item in a list component
highlighted by default. I'm sure its right there in the docs
staring me down, but I dont see it.
I've found scrollToIndex method, but that doesnt seem to
actually highlight the index item. How do I highlight an index item

I have tried all the solutions so far. they did not change the outcome. My right mouse will not show the copy command. I am getting the drop down menu when I right click and I can highlight words but when I right click to copy and paste the copy does not work... it was working fine until I did the last update for foxfire.. CP4: See Highlight Box Item Names in the Timeline?

In Edit View, right-click a highlight box. Select Properties, and then Options. Type anything in the Item Name field and click OK. What you type is stored there, but is there any way for me to see it on the timeline? I can see image names, text caption names, slide names, but not highlight boxes. This would be very helpful.

2 Questions: Black when exporting & highlighted menu items

Newbie here, learning as I go with some very basic knowledge.

Okay, got two questions. My books aren't answering them, my live-help person is busy (InD professional) ... I'm coming here for help.
1. Seems as tho when I draw a 10pt black line, after exporting to .pdf, it is screened. I haven't changed any settings and if something got changed .. I'm clueless. No transparencies, 100% opacity, 100% black. If I print directly from .indd, it is black. Definitely screened when printed out .pdf, and my printing company is the one who noticed it.
2. While I was messing around trying to figure out the black line, all of a sudden, a bunch of my menu pull-down items became highlighted. Again, I'm clueless.

In Preferences, what is your selection for Appearance of Black? I suggest “Display All Blacks Accurately” and “Output All Blacks Accurately”. I don’t understand Adobe setting these to, effectively, “Display All Blacks Inaccurately” and “Output All Blacks Inaccurately” by default.
You say that the black line is grey, but is it? Can you open it in Acrobat Pro or Illustrator and tell us the actual colour value? I suspect you have the preferences above set to the default, so that process black looks and prints like a rich black. When Acrobat shows it as process black, it appears lighter by comparison.
A new feature in InDesign since version 5 is “Workspaces” which save panel visibility and position and allow some menu items to be hidden and others to be highlighted. I find the menu options distracting an non-intuitive. When you hide a function from the user you don’t make other functions easier to see, you just make those hidden functions unavailable and, for new users, undiscoverable. Similarly, highlighted items are just distracting. You can fix both problems by selecting Window > Workspace > Show Full Menus.

Spotlight keyword search highlights found items in results

When entering a keyword search in spotlight, it would be convenient if keyword would be highlighted in results. Example, I search for word, 'villa' and results show word in 5 text documents. When popping out the quick look preview from spotlight, or opening the text document, instances of 'villa' should be hightlighted.
I feature suggestion? Or, it is possible now?

Drop down menus, Dock, highlighting menu items, - all malfunctioning

Around two days ago, i began experiencing problems with the dock. i usually have my dock hidden, and i usually have the magnifying effect turned up as well. anyway, my dock began refusing to come out of hiding, or it would come out after a few (3-4) seconds but would not move. after a few restarts and a few plist clears (yes, tried the "delete dock preferences file" idea, no joy), the problem was still occuring. I then noticed that i could force the dock to refresh by clicking off it, on the desktop or another app window. the problem has since spread to all menus such as the apple menu, drop down menus etc, and they will not refresh until you click away either. I'm beginning to get really annoyed, so i signed up here and posted this.
I'm running 10.4.8 on a G3 ibook with a recently installed airport card (if that counts for anything) I also installed a bunch of updates including the following;
-X11 2006
-J2SE 5.0 Release 4
-ARD admin Update
-security updates (2006-07 and 2006-08) - PowerPC
-Security Update 2007 - 001
These were installed a day or so before the problems started, or at least, before i noticed them.

This is also happening under New and Different users.You may be able to repair this with 10.4.8 PPC Combo Update
This is a fuller install, as opposed to an incremental "delta" update so it should overwrite any files that are damaged or missing. It does not matter if you have applied it before. It has worked well for many.
Remember to Verify Disk before update and repair permissions after update from /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.
If Intel use this 10.4.8 Combo Updater.

Highlighting item on form

Hi, In forms3.0 when the cursor was on the current item the item
was highlighted. In forms 6i I can highlight the item by using
the "Current Record Visual Attribute Group" property to set the
highlight.
Is there anyway I can replicate the functionality of forms3.0? I
want to highlight the current item only and when I move to the
next item the highlight moves too.

1) Create a parameter to keep track of the current/previous
item. In this example I called my parameter ITEM_NAME
2) create a visual attribute for the highlight
3) create a visual attribute for normal colors
4)Create a Form level WHEN-NEW-ITEM-INSTANCE

Remove the highlighted item

Hello all,
I got a problem hope you can help me. I have 2 lists in 2 scroll panes. I'd my application can handle: when user selects an item from list one (the item will be highlighted), the item in list 2 that user selected before must be deselected (remove the highlight from the list 2).
How can implement it. I knew how to set selected item (JList.setSelectedIndex(5)) but I don't know how to de-select it.
