Highlighting moving person

I'm an amateur PE11 user making a sport highlight film from game clips. I'd like to find the easiest way to highlight a single player as they move. it doesn't have to be there throughout the entire clip, just as he enters the play or becomes interesting in it. There is a written tutorial in these discussions but it is for PE7 and quite arduous. I have 40 clips to add this feature to so I was hoping someone had a clever way in PE11 to do this. I tried a freeze frame but it throws the audio off and only works for those moments when the eye is already on the player. I need people to be able to locate the player on the screen. An opaque circle for about 100 frames would work nicely.
Any great ideas, or links to a solution?

First, Hunt, please excuse if I missed this point in your post or the references that you gave. The following should work in both versions of Premiere Elements which you have said you have, versions 4 and 11.

Since Hunt's Premiere Pro model does not address the specifics of your Premiere Elements 11 Windows situation, please let me offer the Premiere Elements 11 perspective on this with regard to establishing the circle for keyframing as per my post 3.
Instead of establishing the circle using two cicles one overlaying the other and Chroma Key, consider:
1. Premiere Elements 11 Titler
2. Styles...selecting a pre-made Style with the color of choice and which has stroking included in the pre-made style. I selected Caslon Red 84.
3. Go to the Shapes section of the Titler and draw your circle from the Ellipse Tool.
4. At that point you should see your shape in the Titler as a colored circle but with a solid color center.
5. In Shapes section of the Titler, open the Color Picker and change "Gradient" choice to "Eliminate".
We could elaborate on user made styles and such, but for now I will leave it as above. But, if you had time, you might be interested in a blog post that I wrote about Premiere Elements 11 Creating Styles

Is there a way to highlight one person in a sports video. Like the person making the basket is highlighted in white while the rest of the team is darker??

If the player is in the middle of the field, you could try the "Clip Adjustment" -> Video Effect called Vignette. It may kinda give the effect you want. IF player not in middle, you could use Cropping and rotation to get him or her in the middle.

Moving personal domain to .mac - what happens to the email accounts?

I have had my own domain for many years, hosted at an ISP. I wouldn't mind moving it to .mac. But what happens to my email addresses?
Right now I have several email addresses like this: '[email protected]'. It is actually protected by a commercial spam filter site - this filter site polls the host (personaldomain.com) for the email, filters it and then my email client polls the spam filter server.
Can I maintain this structure and the email addresses if I move the domain to .mac?
Or perhaps I should just use the forwarding option? I would like to save the monthly fee for the hosting ISP for personaldomain.com...
I searched all the help files - couldn't find an answer (sorry if I missed it).

Thanks for the two replies - I had read those pieces, but as you say, they don't specifically address what happens to email addresses that were hosted elsewhere.
If I keep my current provider and just move the website (use domain forwarding) I know I can keep my emails intact as is. This means paying for both .Mac and the other ISP.
I am guessing if I move everything to .Mac I am going to have to move the email addresses to the IMAP service from .Mac, and that may create problems with my spam filter service...
Anyone else have any experience with this?

Moving Personal Documents Etc to New Account

Hi there,
Following on my PhotoBooth problems (see iSight forum) I have created a new admin account. I was told by Apple Tech Support that if I move my pictures, music folders, etc., to the Public folders on the old account that I would be able to access them in my new account. Sorry to say I can't see them in my new account.
What needs to be done to remedy this problem? I have many GB of information that I simply need to transfer to my new account. I'm assuming it's something in the account setup but I don't readily see anything.
Help much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Move the documents to the /Users/Shared/ folder in one account, and then log in from the other account and copy them to that account's home folder.

Highlights in Encore not broken, but sporadic. Help?!

I am running CS 5.5 for Mac. I edited my menu in Photoshop with the correct symbols: "(+)" for the button and "(=1)" for the highlight. The really odd thing is that it works for some and not for others. It also works for some of the buttons depending on where the highlight is positioned. I checked the forum and see that this is somewhat of an issue for Mac. I have attached some screen shots for visual aid.
As you can see, I have the correct symbols for both chapters "The Problem" and "The Tsantles".
No highlight here.

Can someone help me? I have a deadline of January 2, 2012.

Well the highlight layers are eventually rasterized for the final menu, so why leave it up to Encore to do? Encore isn't exactly great at performing those types of tasks behind the scenes, which is why I always try and manually do as much as possible and let Encore do as little as possible. That would definitely be my first step at attempting to resolve this problem.

Pulling a person out of background

Is this the program to highlight a person and pull him out of background. Is there a simple way of doing that from video

there is no simple way of doing this unless you've purposely recorded for keying.
from what you're describing, it's a process called "rotoscoping." search here and the web for definitions and procedures.

Highlighting an image in a movie

Does anybody know how (or if) you can highlight one person continually in a movie? For example, if it was of a basketball game you'd see the whole game, but one player might have a lighter image around him.

It's a little tricky in FCP. Put one copies of the clip on the timeline on V1.
Using the proc amp filter to darken the clip.
Put another copy of the clip on V3.
Between the two on V2 add a Shape from the Generators, probably an oval.
Make the oval about the size and shape you want.
To the clip on V3 apply Modify>Composite Mode>Travel Matte - Luma.
Animate the shape as needed to move about the screen using keyframes to follow the subject.

Motion Graphics (Animated Graphic) Like a Circle Being Drawn – Addable in PS Video Workflow?

Hi, i create video tutorials in Photoshop CC*, only of screencasts. Sometimes i insert a red circle around important parts of the screen.
I would like to show the circle being drawn bit by bit – not the whole circle slowly fading in, but being drawn around the subject over time. Also interesting might be arrows that build up and bounce a bit. (This NOT like a button being pushed.)
I didn't find online good info how to create an addable circle being drawn or sth like that. I found verbose tutorials about movie title animation in Photoshop, but they don't help to create a circle being drawn.
A circle being drawn around a point of interest - this is easily possible for instance with Camtasia – but i would love to add the animation within Photoshop. It should be possible if the animation is a smart object within a TIFF or PSD file, but i don't know how to create animated files like that.
Are there animated files like that available somewhere? Best would be vector files that could be changed (for instance contour width, contour colour, speed etc.).
Or how could i create them myself with Photoshop? (I have no experience with Premiere or Illustrator.)

There's no reason why not, but you'd have to animate as a perfect circle, an then distort into a flatter ellipse at the end, which sounds kind of klunky. It would need some manual input, but you start with your ellipse, and copy it whole as many times as you need frames. The layers will have incrementing names, which we will take advantage of later. Group those layers to keep them tidy.
Now use Transform Again (or Step & Repeat) on a black segment the radius of which will be big enough to completely cover the long side of the ellipse. The resulting layers will also have incrementing names, and they should match the ellipse layer names. Group these to keep them tidy.
So you'll start with this (Note I am using only four frames to keep this demo simple)
After Step and repeat you'll have
Turn off the Mask Group, select layer 'Ellipse 1', Ctrl click one of the mask layers (which I have ballsed up by forgetting to rename), and add a layer mask to Ellipse 1. You'll see where we are going now.
Select the mask layer you just used, and the mask layer next to it, and merge them. Repeat the last step, and continue for all Ellipse layers. You'll end up with something like this (but with heaps more layers)
Note that you end up with just the one Mask layer, because you have been merging them as you go. To produce the animation start with all Ellipse layers off, and as you progress to the next frame, turn on the next Ellipse layer. Unlike with normal animations, we keep all preceding layers switched on because we are building, and not moving.
OK, here's the clever bit. Unlink all the Ellipse layer, layer masks (click on the chain icons.) Make sure the layer content, and not the layer masks are active (double white line around the thumbnail). Select All the Ellipse layers, and Free Transform to fit the next item to be highlighted. If I recall correctly, using FT on multiple layers is a fairly recent thing. Can anyone comment on that? If you are thinking ahead, make sure the Mask layers are big enough to cover the largest item you might need to highlight. These layers are always tuned off for the final animation, so they can be as big as you like.
I'd be inclined to keep master copies of both Ellipse and Mask groups, and work off a new copy for each highlight.
Personally, I'd just use After Effects, but if you can't get use of it, it is at least possible with Photoshop.

TD or Old Toad pls help: Renamed iPhoto Library File....no pics in iPhoto6

I am working on my parents computer... they have iPhoto 6 and I renamed the iPhoto Library folder in Finder. Obviously this is not a good idea since now there is no content (pics) in iPhoto.
This action made a new folder (with the new name) in Finder's 'pictures' file. So, I tried to copy and paste (or maybe I highlighted & moved it, can't recall) the contents of the newly named folder back under the 'iphoto library' folder however, that did not make the photos reappear in iPhoto.
After moving (I think I highlighted & dragged) the file contents of the newly named folder back in the 'iPhoto Library' folder, I deleted the newly named/created file.
The individual pics seem to be in the modified & originalsfolder but I do not know how to get them back into iPhoto..
I attempted to rebuild the iPhoto library but it seemed like an empty request since the computer didnt do anything when this option was selected.
I know there is a solution but I dont know the smartest nextstep. I have read related discussions that almost provide a solution.
Currently, I need to figure out a way to:
1) get what seems to still exist in the modified & original folders back into iPhoto even if it means loosing album names, keywords. I am hoping this route doesn’t wipe out dates from when the images were taken. If there is a way to get them back into iPhoto this route, I need instructions.
or,
2) I have a back up of the entire HD on an external HD. Would itbe best to somehow use that to replace what I have on the computer HD? I do not know how to do this so for sure need guidance.
or,
3) Find another solution, quickly…

When I click on the Menu or Choose the Drop down for CC, it doesn't show the options

I've been having this issue for a while now since the last update. When I click on the top nav options or try to select "CC" or "BCC" when creating an email. The outline of the dropdown box shows, however the listed options don't show or it takes a minute for them to show. I have attached a screenshot of what I'm seeing. I typed out a sentence and right clicked, but the options don't appear, only the outline of a box.

I don't see any "highlight" moving up and down. Sometimes I have to guesstimate where the "paste without formatting" is, so I know the text is there and clickable. Sometimes the text does show, but it takes a WHILE.

How to text someone else on the I pod 5th gene.?

I purchased a 16gb iPod and I set it up. It asked me to create a number so I could most likely text someone else. I soon realized that it did not have the camera so I switched it out for a 32gb. When I set that I pod up I put the Apple ID on that new I pod but it never asked for the create a number so I assumed it was in the Apple ID account, but then I tried to text someone with internet access; it highlighted the persons name in red so I tapped it and it said that it was not registered with I message. Please help me so I can text my family and friends with my I pod.

The Apple Messages app will only receive and send to other iPod touches. iPhone or iPads with the Messages app.

HELPP Changes in OM done directly should update in Personnel Administration

My client guy did changes in OM by directly moving persons into different positions and work flow doesnt work now. So is there any report i have to run so as to update the changes from OM to PA.

Please check if the OM to PA integration is set in the table T77s0. You can check this through the transaction sm30.
Or you can use the img node Organizational Management -> Integration -> Integration with Personnel Administration -> Set Up Integration with Personnel Administration.
Also try using the report RHINTE10 and RHINTE30 to correct the entries in PA.
You can execute these from transaction se38.

Converting raw to tiff brings a lose of quality

actually i have converted a canon raw to tiff image using ligthroom 2.6, the matter is... why once converted in tiff highlights, moving exposition ability and more are so capped?
i have converted a raw to tiff 16 bit uncompressed with pro photo rgb... this means that i should preserve all color tone of the image and i would be able to make the same adjoustments that i use normally with raw files...
this in theory... cause if i try to step down the exposure i see whites going to greens and stuff like a damn jpg srgb 8 bit for channel...
what's going wrong in it?

When you convert to TIFF in LR you are 'burning-in' the current settings. That is what is shown as white is converted to white and what is shown as black is converted to black; any higher or lower values (off the edges of the histogram) from the raw file are truncated (thrown away) then the values between the black and white points have any tone curves or tonal adjustments set in LR applied and the gamma curve of ProPhoto applied to calculate the values to be used in the TIFF. Note that the original raw file values are in linear space whereas ProPhot is gamma 2.2 encoded, this means that more bits are required to accurately encode the original data, for a 14 bit linear file (16384 levels) you require a 16 bit 2.2 gamma encoded file to accurately represent all the levels, if you have not already thrown some away (a 14 bit 2.2 gamma encoded file would only be able to represent 11752 of the levels with the losses worse in the brighter parts of the image, an 8 bit JPEG can only represent 254 of the levels). [1]
The reason for strange colour casts when trying to reprocess the highlights is that my reference to black and white above oversimplifies the situation; actually what happens is that you are truncating each of the red, green and blue channels (usually by different amounts) when creating the TIFF. When you then try to change the colour balance or recover highlights or shadows LR does not have the data you have thrown away and thus makes a poor guess at the correct colour. You tend to only see this in the highlights although it can also happen in the shadows, however it is difficult to see small colour changes in very dark tones and you are generally losing much less data in the shadows when converting to TIFF.
Using a 16 bit TIFF compared to an 8 bit JPEG allows better representation of the data that has not been truncated so changes within the white and black limits will cause less degradation, however any attempt at highlight recovery or significant white balance changes will be bad for both. You are much better keeping the raw format (or converting to DNG which retains all the raw image data) until you need to print, export for screen use or export to Photoshop for further changes. For photoshop you may still be able to maintain the raw data by use of smart objects.

How can I remove email addresses from my Face Time

I have a MacBook Pro i5 with 500gig and OS X 10.10. A friend borrowed it and used it to Face Time his friends and his friends address are listed and I don't know how to remove them can someone tell me how to. Thanks

Highlight the person you want to delete by click on the name.
