Hijacked account
Hi all, My Spotify account was hijacked by some ugly guy with an ugly name. Spotify customer service did a great job and after some mailing I got my account back. But now i cannot get rid of his picture and name in the web player and on my android devices. I have removed his facebook account and added my own, and in the account settings on the web I see my own facebook picture. But in the player I still have his ugly face and name. I have cleared the cache in my phone and also reinstalled the Spotify app but when I logon again, I see his ugly face. How can I get my own name and profile picture in the player, both web and android. regards,Glenn
Hi there! I recommend reaching out directly to Spotify Support again...they should be able to sort the rest for you. They can be reached through their Twitter Page or through the online contact form.
Make sure to check your inbox and junk folder for an email from Spotify. Once you get it, make sure to reply back right away, even if it says it's from a "no-reply" email.

Expired .Mac accounts are usable with iTunes and iChat, as these services are not handled through the .Mac system. There won't be any effect on your ability to use the iTunes Store.

ON the 27th I paid for an item I won (over 1000 dollars) by debit/visa option not from my paypal account. It usually is instant but this time it says PAYMENT PROCESSING BY PAYPAL??? I've contacted ebay and paypal numerous times as this is the first time it has happened.... paypal assures me that the payment went through and is completed ... while ebay could not give me an answer besides waiting for the system to update or it could be a glitch and might never update. I've contact my seller but he is adamant on holding the item until it is cleared by ebay... The money is already out of my account and in his (according to paypal) What should I do.. HELP!
The seller is well within his rights to hold shipment until the payment is cleared by Paypal and your bank.
However, if the problem is that Paypal is holding the cleared payment (in escrow, basically), he is required to ship within 7 days. Paypal will release enough money to purchase a shipping label, but he will not get the full payment for up to 21 days after clearance.
Many new sellers can't understand this, but it is a protection for the buyer (and PP) against crooks who take the money and run.
Mostly it affects new sellers, sellers in high fraud categories and high value items. It may also affect experienced sellers who suddenly sell an high price item when normally they sell realatively low value items. (Because that can be a sign of a hijacked account.)
Your seller seems to fall into the flagged category. He will not have any money released to him for 21 days. Tell him you want a refund and buy elsewhere. You don't need to deal with someone who prefers his own rules to the contract we all sell under. -
Hacked account. Wondering how to contact Skype sup...

my account has just been hacked. The thief has change the password and the email address.
I would like to contact Skype support, but I found only two ways of doing that: this community and the chat support (that is not working at the moment).
How can I get a reply from support? No idea.
I also had some credit on my account, I was worried if Skype saved my credit card data for later, so the new "owner" could charge the account with my card. Is anyone able to give me a feedback?

Unfortunately, you have just realized a principal reason malcontents hijack accounts: to use up the credit or to take advantage of any subscription, and then to top up the credit using the payment method on file. Change your credit card account password immediately if you have not already done so, as well as any third-party payment processing system account if you happen to use one (such as PayPal or MoneyBookers).
To recover your account, you will need to contact Skype Customer Service directly. Try using a different web browser than you typically use; believe it or not, this works most of the time!

As you know you intend to contact Customer Service, skip past Step 2 of the instruction where several articles from the FAQ library will appear for you to review, and proceed to Step 3, Continue Support Request (the "button" appears at the lower right corner of the website page). Fraudulent iTunes Gift cards are used to make purchases but are associated with a hijacked account so that if traced it's that account holder who'll have to deal with the problems. It was a form of "laundering".
It's one of the reasons iTunes had stopped issuing those $200 gift cards about a year back since that's one of the uses for them ( The other reason had to do with why you don't, if you're sane, continue with gift card numbers after someone cracks the algorithm. ).

Closing SKYPE URGENT TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE
All users should be aware that currently 3 out 5 methods that purport to close SKYPE DO NOT CLOSE IT.
1. LEFT Clicking the X in the top right corner of the SKYPE application DOES NOT EXIT SKYPE.
2. LEFT Clicking SKYPE then CLOSE of the SKYPE application menu DOES NOT EXIT SKYPE.
3. RIGHT Clicking the SKYPE ICON in the Task Bar and left clicking CLOSE DOES NOT EXIT SKYPE.

It should be obvious that this is a security breach waiting to happen and it could be argued in a court of law that Skype are deliberately or negligently putting users at risk of hijacked accounts and loss of privacy, possibly in order to claim higher online numbers in order to increase marketing statistics such as users online. I urge Skype directors to instruct developers without further delay to conform to standard menu definitions such that CLOSE means CLOSE and X closes the Application. You should also consider a timeout LOCKING option. Internet cafe situations arise where a user thinks they have safely EXITED and closed the application but predators can hijack their account, change passwords, and make unauthorised telephone calls.
I am an IT professional and I find these matters totally unacceptable. As previously stated History Management and Recent Contacts persistince and contact's Icons in Skype Home without options to selectively remove them are also lacking in usability features that jeopardise Privacy.
I request urgent action on these points.

Computer Weekly Article stating "BT to drop Yahoo ...
Apologies if this news (or possibly rumour) has already been posted on the BTCare Community Forum, but I thought that forum members would be interested to know that Computer Weekly reported on 31st May 2013 that The Daily Telegraph had reported that "BT is to replace Yahoo Mail with its own email service for its six million broadband customers after complaints about hijacked accounts".
Assuming that it is true, this is welcome news. I doubt however that it was the hacking alone that drove BT to action. More likely the biggest factor was that, as posted elsewhere, at some point Yahoo! quietly removed the ability of users to turn off the (somewhat unreliable) SpamGuard, while retaining the Mail Classic interface and thereby continuing to give users of that interface the opposite impression. We are a brand new mac family and something very strange occured I was hoping someone can assist with. My son claims that while he was viewing his fantasy football page on Yahoo!, he simply was using the scroll button on the mouse when all of a sudden the screen display magnified at least 50x's! I was not home at the time and asked him to leave as is. When I got home, sure enough the screen was ridiculously large to a point that I couldn't do anything. Navigation was impossible. I ended up calling AppleCare whom was unable to assist other than advised to load system disc and restart Mac which eventually solved the problem. (That after trying to trouble-shoot for 45 min. to no avail.) I have three questions:
1) Has anyone ever heard of this?
2) Did the system disc restart damage anything, as now Safari seems to be running a bit slower?
3) Is there a way to solve problem other than system disc restart?

No damage was done, but you may have lost some personal files in /Users/<user>, depending on how you did the install. Be sure to do all your system updates in System Preferences|Software Update now.
For 9 years I would have said buy stuff at eBay, but it is now so overrun with hijacked accounts of legitimate users, you just can't trust anything there anymore. Ppl selling things look like they have great feedback and have been longtime members, but eBay has giant security holes allowing these accounts to be taken over by scammers, and they seem to not be doing anything about it. On a small item like memory though, it's less likely you'll get burned.
But I use Craigslist now to find more $expensive items locally. Might be memory there if you're in a larger city. But I suggest you deal only locally, as lots of scammers there too. -

I logged in to my device in my laptop and I discovered that another device is also connected to my apple ID. When I find MY I PHONE, I can also view the other device exact location. Is my account being hacked or hijacked? Please help...
I guess you're talking about iCloud? Yes if you can see two devices it would appear that someone else can get into your account. Best change your password.

Account Hijack - Please help I've really run out o...
I'm posting here out of desparation. I've filled out the long and unrewarding contact by email form several times. But have never received a response. Once I received a we need more infomration form, but upon completion my request just disappeared into a black hole.
About 72hours ago my account was hacked and hijacked by an 'ethical hacker'. He changed my regstered email account and password. He's since been fishing my contacts for FTP passwords, email accounts and any other sensitive information he can find.
I have tried 5 0r 6 times to send an email via the contact forms to GET MY ACCOUNT SUSPENDED, I've told all me friends to block and report the hacker, but still sykpe allow him to continue.
Where should I go with this?, obvoulsy the account to which I refer is not this one, but I don't want to list the name here on an open forum.

I think customer support usually reply within 24 hours (but could be longer in certain cases). They may also require you to provide some information to verify that you are the real owner of that account, before they can possibly assist you in regaining access to it.
