Hinges broken 17" Pavillion dv9500 notebook Service Tag dv9610us

My 17" Pavillion dv9500 notebook (Service Tag dv9610us) has 2 broken hinges.
I understand this is a common problem with this family of laptops and I believe there are videos on YouTube to show how to fix them.
I ordered what I thought were OEM hinges from a non HP website and they are extremely stiff.
Almost impossible to rotate by hand.
I would have ordered from HP, but I don't want to spend a lot, because I need more RAM and the frame for the monitor too which is also cracked.
Is it normal for new hinges to be so stiff ?
Is the plastic frame on the same side of the monitor called the Bezel, or are both the front and back of the monitor cover collectively called the Bezel ? The HP Store doesn't show a photo.

How do I determine if this laptop is considered Single Lamp or Double Lamp. The part numbers for hinges differ.

Dm4 Left hinge broken

I'm wondering how a notebook (dm-4) tht has been on a desk in the open position 80% of the time since 2012 can have a hinge broken? This note book was seldom closed, so my question is _ How would this hinge stand up for a user tht indeed does take the notebook to work, classes, the coofee shop ect.. whn sitting on a desk n seldom closed the hinge has failed?? The dm-4 has seldom left the desk it is on..... n thy call ths a note book. Note books r made to open n close... hence the moniker "notebook" thy open n close.
Now I have a unit on a desk tht has a sign "DO NOT CLOSE" seems silly. The Hp repair cost @ $179.99 is wht I see has a kick in the gut to it's users. The hinge is a very important part tht should hold-up n preform over time. Come-on Hp !!

Left hinge of my HP Pavilion dm4 1165dx laptop was broken.
I contatcted the HP service center on phone, told by the customer service representative:
1. The only way HP epairs the hinge is replacing the entire LCD display, @US$190, with 7 - 9 days of turn around.
2. There is no HP service enter in Los Angeles, CA where I can take the laptop to be repaired.
3. On-site technician service is not available at Los Angeles, CA.
4. I can 'take it or leave it' for the service available to me.
No. 4 sounds harsh, particularly to a long time loyal HP customer such as myself.
However, that aside, what can I do to have my laptop repaired reasonably?
No one can afford to be without a laptop for 7 - 9 days for loss of productivitiy.
Since you represent HP, is there anything you can do to help me? The bevel for display cracked at the corner due to the broken hinge when I tried to close the laptop. I need to repair the hinge before it cause more secondary damages.

HP Pavillion g6 Notebook PC - Audio no longer working after Windows 8.1 upgrade

Description: There is an audio issue. Sound does not work at all. Issues include:
iTunes error message: iTunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration. Audio/video playback may not operate properly
youTube issues: a video will play for 1 second, and then display error message
THe F9/F10/F11 buttons make no changes to the Audio settings
When I click the Sound button (which is currently muted), the Playing Audio window opens stating that Troubleshooting couldn't identify the problem.
This has only occurred since I upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 this week.
The Audio and Sound settings in HP Support Assistant are:

I would like to assist you with getting this audio issue resolved with your HP Pavilion g6 Notebook PC. So I can better assist you, please provide me with the model/product number from your notebook.
Also, something that you can try is to use the Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers. Once you open the HP Recovery Manager, install the audio driver that will be listed under drivers.

1. Restore group deamon . Check and edit /etc/group or
groupadd -g 12 daemon
2. Generaly, it's not nessesary, but check:
mkdir -p /var/sadm/servicetag/registry
chmod root:sys /var/sadm/servicetag
chmod svctag:daemon /var/sadm/servicetag/registry

I have a HP Pavilion zv6000 (service tag zv6130us), The manual says it takes 2GB the HP help and support center says it will go to 8GB. Does any one know how much memory this will actually take on a per slot bases?

When I click the Help and Support tab in my start menu then click My HP Computer. The System Information shows Installed memory - 512.00 MB, Memory Slot 1 - 256.00 MB, Memory Slot 2 - 256.00 MB, but it says Maximum capacity - 8.00 GB.

Hi,
your problem is that you are trying to resolve a problem related to a specific statement by using instance-wide tools. You should look at performance stats for that particular statement.
1) Identify sql_id of the offending statement (e.g. select sql_id from v$sql where sql_fulltext like '%part_of_statement_text_here%', if it doesn't return results check case or look in
dba_hist_sqlstat)
2) Look for records with this sql_id in DBA_HIST_ACTIVE_SESS_HISTORY (use filter on sample_time). Compare performance indicators for the timeframe of the incident and outside it
3) You can also find performance stats for this statement in DBA_HIST_SQLSTAT, but you will have aggregates over snapshot duration
Given your symptoms, the most logical explanation is a plan flip. Check plan_hash_value in DBA_HIST_SQLSTAT -- if it changed around the time of the incident, that will confirm your suspicion.
Use dbms_stats.display_awr to display both "good" and "bad" plan. Try to understand the key difference, look at predicates for any hint that could explain it. If it doesn't give you results,
use format=>'advanced' to generate outlines for both plans, then you can set STATISTICS_LEVEL=ALL and run the statement with both plan, producing extended plan statistics. Use
dbms_xplan.display_cursor(..,..,format=>'allstats last') to display it. If having difficulty interpreting it, post it here to get the help from community.

Hp J6480 left cover hinge broken while changing cartridge. How could I replace that?

HP OFFICEJET J6480 ALL-IN-ONE. The left HINGE of the cover has broken while changing the cartridge. How could I replace it?

Can't replace it. Just remove 1/2 of it.

I have the right hinge broken. I removed the 5 screws,
one for the hinge cover in the back, and
4 holding the top hinge in place.
Once removed the top closed fine. I will be careful in opening it to replace the ink. It takes a hex head screw driver: T9 X 40. I got a new cartridge and it is working fine with the top half of the hinge gone. Note: the bottom broke but I removed the top only.
I have not tried any major copy jobs or scanning but I don't see that they would be effected.
HP Tec Support offered me a 6500N for ~ $100 about $30 off from what I could get from Sam's Club. Not sure if it is the exact printer from Sam's.

Why is Service Tags closing connection when doing GET ??

I have several T6320 blades that have the latest Service Tags 1.1.5 on them.
All the services are online when querying
svcs -a | egrep 'stdiscover|stlisten|stosreg'

online Nov_19 svc:/network/stlisten:default
online Nov_19 svc:/application/stosreg:default
I can also open up a telnet session to them on TCP 6481 and they are listening and accept connections.
However when I browse to that port and the http://servername:6481/stv1/agent I do not get an XML response back.
I do get this response on several other identical blades
I've also checked the hosts.allow file and everything matches those servers that work.
Any thoughts would be much appreciated

Cant adjust screen birghtness Hp pavillion 15 notebook

I have a Hp pavillion 15 notebook
Product number- E6B61EA#ABU
i cant adjust the screen brightness, currently on the lowest so is very difficult to use.
The buttons on the keyoard do appear to be recognised but the brightness does not change, i have tried also adjusting brightness through the control panel but again no success. I am using windows 8.
