Hint about Samsung CLP-510N Printing with Bonjour

After installing with Bonjour in Printer Utility I had a problem with Samsung's CLP-510N that did not appear with a Windows machine on the network. Using this printer, it simply stalls after appearing to start up OK. It just stops part way through sending a page and refuses to continue. It shows stopped.
I found that if you try to install this printer using Bonjour in the Printer Utility it will not work. However, if you (as per the Samsung instructions) install with IPP (internet printer protocol) in OS 10.4.x there is no problem.
A nice feature in Printer Utility is that the IP address entry does self-complete and shows what printers' address are as you fill out the line.
This may be applicable to other printer related issues with Bonjour. Perhaps it's the way I use my resources, but in short I find Bonjour to be totally useless!

  • Samsung clp not printing with os 10.5.8

i have a samsung clp printer that i bought with my mbp a year and a half ago. after working nearly flawlessly for all this time, suddenly i'm having problems printing. nothing shows up in the print que after i sent it and of course nothing prints. i have re-installed both the drivers and the printer itself many times and i still can't print. i don't have access to printing on my campus because my tech support "doesn't support macs" and my mbp is apparently incompatible with every single printer on campus and the whole system. my printer is conected through my time capsule, which i connect to my mbp via ethernet cable. the wireless stopped working when i upgraded to the 1tb model. previously this configuration worked great. even when i directly connect my printer to my mbp i cannot print. are there any fixes yet??? i would happily roll back to a previous version if the issue is the latest update, however i have no idea how to do this. i purchased a mac because "it just works" and am afraid of messing something up. can anyone help!!?? i have stuff that needs to be printed for school and i'm at a total loss.

sorry, just saw that i was accidently in the snow leopard section....i reposted under the correct section. here's the link.

  • How do I install a samsung clp-315 printer under Lion?

I have upgraded to Lion. This morning I uninstalled my Samsung CLP-315 printer (I was trouble shooting & thought it would be easy to re-install). When I try to re- install via the system preferences my computer recognises the printer is there and tries to get the software to drive it from
When I click Add I get this message:
I have also tried downloading the driver from Samsung's  Web site but I still can't re-install the printer.
Would appreciate comments/help to get it going again.
    Thanks

I had this problem with my Samsung CLX3185, For some other reason I had to restart. After that restart when I got around to it again, I could install it. Hope it helps. Also, Samsung printer software update is available via software update. Suggest run the SW update, restart and try again.

  • Samsung CLP-315 printer not happy with Snow Leopard

I got a Samsung CLP-315 color laser printer about 6 months ago. I had it connected to an iMac G5 (PPC) running Tiger. It worked wonderfully. Well, the iMac died so I got a new Mac Mini (Intel running Snow Leopard). Well, now things are not working very well. When I try to print, sometime it prints, other times I need to power cycle the printer, then when I try to print it works. Printing remotely from my other iMac used to work flawlessly, now it is interemittent. For example, when I try to print a PDF file remotely it won't print. I've very dissapointed that moving to the newest OS causes problems.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

I think I may have fixed the problem. I haven't done extensive testing, but...
I turned off the printer. I used the install CD that came with the printer. I performed an Uninstall operation. Then I opened System Preferences -> Pring & Fax, and deleted the printer. Then I turned on the printer and Snow Leopard asked me if I wanted to install the driver. I said yes and it went looking. When it completed the printer showed up in my print preferences. This time the picture of the printer showed up in the preferences. Before that it was a generic looking printer. Maybe these drivers are newer/better. We'll see.

  • How to Install & Configure Samsung CLP-510N?

    Hi,
I have downloaded and installed the software driver from Samsung website for CLP-510N but unable to find the printer under the add printer option.
I have then configured the IP address for the CLP-510N in a XP PC. Key-in the IP under the IP in add printer, it came out as generic post script driver, instead of Samsung's driver. Also the Samsung printer installed in the MacBook is no where to appear in this process.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

Well, you've certainly clarified that it is not a Mac issue but an issue with the printer or printer driver. I have nothing to do with deleting the discussion. Lots of things may relate to Apple products, but Apple prefers that the Discussions restrict themselves to Apple product support, not third-party product support as in your particular case. If you need clarification of this then please read the Terms of Use by clicking on the Help & Terms of Use link in the right sidebar of this page.
Understand I'm not trying to give you a hard time. All that I told you before was that these Discussions are not meant to provide support for third-party products. If you felt that offended you, then accept my apologies.

  • Trouble with findig printer with Bonjour (HP all in one printer)

    Hi,
I have a problem with connecting to my HP Printer.
When the printer and the iMac is booted freshly I can connect to the printer without any problems, also I can find the printer trought the printer browser via Bonjour.
But after a while the connection is completely lost with the printer, the only way I can connect to the printer is by IP, the dns name (http://HPxxxx.local.) is also not working anymore.
The only solution is turning off the printer and putting it on again, even sometimes I have to restart the iMac.
Is it possible a new installed wireless modem/router is cousing this odd behaviour ? Because it looked like the trouble whas coming after the new router was installed.
When I ping to the printer I can see there are some timeouts from time to time and when the timeouts take too long, the result is that I can't find the printer trough Bonjour anymore.
    Thanks!

    Hi cowla1,
I understand you need the drivers for the HP 6500A on a Mac. I can help you but will need some more information.
I have provided a link for the drivers up to 10.8. The 10.9 drivers show the documentation to run the Apple Updates for the driver install. HP Officejet 6500A e-All-in-One Printer - E710a Drivers.
Select your operating system, click next and click on the software to download and install.
Make sure when you add the printer, it shows the printer name and not the printer name + Airprint.
What operating system are you using? Mac OS X: How Do I Find Which Mac OS X Version Is on My Computer?
How is the printer connected? (USB/Ethernet/Wireless)
Please provide in detail the results if you are still having issues.
    Have a nice day!

  • Problems setting printer with Bonjour

I have a recent iMac and a new airport extreme with a Samsung printer plugged into it. My son has a new PC with Windows Vista. He has no problems accessing the internet via wireless through the airport extreme. But unable to print to the Samsung printer.
He has installed BONJOUR, goes through the set-up, selects the printer etc. and then at the end of the set-up process, he clicks on "finish," at which point he gets a message that "you do not have sufficient access privileges" or something like that. OR, even more often, BONJOUR freezes and he has to do a force quit. In any case, he is unable to use the printer.
Is there some setting on my iMac that I need to set so he can get through BONJOUR? OR ????

    iSphere:
Most of the Bonjour discussions seem to be talking about using Airport Drive and Airport Printers (USB drive and printers attached to the Airport Station). In that case I found that the Windows Firewall software is usually the point of trouble: The Firewall on Windows must allow UDP port 5353 for incoming traffic for XP/Vista to recognize the Bonjour printer or drive.
However, your scenarios is different. I take it that you are trying to share a Mac printer that's directly attached to the Mac. In this case it's really about "File and Printer sharing" on the Mac side, unlikely related to Bonjour.
Here are my suggestions (I have not tried these yet):
    - On the Mac side, turn on these items through "Sharing" (System Configurations):
    - Windows File Sharing
    - Personal File Shring
    - Printer Sharing
    - Then on "Printer and Fax" configurations, turn on "Printer Sharing".
Try it and see how far you can get

  • Can't use my Samsung ML-2010 printer with this iMac

The software download options from Samsung for Mac do not include ML-2010. I'm glad to have a new computer, but not happy that my printer is unusable with it. The printer is, however, compatible with my year-old Acer laptop. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Sorry, I don't have that printer to try it, but I'm fairly certain that the "Samsung GDI" open-source drivers will work (even they don't have the page updated to say 10.9)

  • How to install samsung clp-365w printer driver to 10.8.2

I have tryed with new software from samsungs suppert and also without samsung driver from computers printer/fax setup. I have also changerd my download setup in privacy so that downloadin from everywhere is possible.
Samsung says that the software is supporting 10.8.2 version of mountain lion and also say that there has not been other similar complaints.
So is there some setup or something what could be preventing installation?

Dear everyone with Mac installing problems! As you will see from my previous posts I have tried everything and still my intallation failed everytime. I have now re-installed the operating system Mountain Lion, backed everything up etc, and now it connects to the printer fine!
I think it may be a corrupeted file problem somewhere on the computer.
    Hope this helps people!

I cannot get the printer to be added. Everytime it says an error occured #9672.
I have done all the suggested options to get the printer to add. It is recognized in the add list, and does everything up to adding it to the network, but the error pops up.
I have updated airport extreme to the newest version.

What is the printer make & model that you are connecting to the USB port of the AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn)?
You may want to double-check this iFelix site to see if it's compatible with the AEBSn.

Did you install XCode? XCode and therefore the compiler are not part of a default installation. They are on every Mac OS X install disk, but you need to install them separately.
I did get a chance to look at this driver. It does not compile straight away. I had no problem getting the configure script to run, but 'make' immediately had errors.
This is an older package. It looks like it wants to find specific things in a Linux kernel or via libusb. It may be just a matter of installing libusb, but I am not familiar with it to tell you whether that would solve your problems. At this point, I am not sure whether there is an easy fix or whether more complex changes need to be made to the Makefile or code to get it to work in OS X.
If you have had some previous compiling experience, you can try adding libusb and then try 'configure and make'. You also might get some help on the Unix forum _http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=735_

  • 10.5.2 - cannot print with Samsung CLP-510 connected via Airport

After 10.5.2 Leopard upgrade, the printer Samsung CLP-510 prints only if it's connected directly to my MacBook (or my PowerBook), not if it's connected via Airport (Extreme): the printers become soon busy and give the message "Device busy, please retry...", and after some time the printer print an error page with "timeout" error.
    No luck resetting the Airport.
    Any workaround, please?
    Thanks in advance
    Salvo

    These steps may help:
    1. Open System Preferences and click on the "Print & Fax" icon
    2. Click on the "+" button to add a printer
    3. Click on the "IP" button in the toolbar
    4. Choose "HP Jetdirect - Socket" from the "Protocol" option menu
    5. Enter the hostname or IP of the Airport base station in the "Address" field - typically 10.0.0.1 or your base station name with ".local" on the end
    6. Leave the "Queue" field blank
    7. Replace the auto-generated name with something meaningful to you in the "Name" field
    8. Choose "Select a driver to use" from the "Print Using" option menu, and then type in the model number for your printer to locate the corresponding printer driver
    9. Click "Add" to add the printer, then try printing
If you report back with your results, it would be appreciated.
