Hints lost

Perhaps a simple question.
But the hints that Apple shows in a yellow "Post-it" when you hold your mouse pointer over a button have dissappeared in Final Cut Express.
In other programs it works just fine. How can I reset this feature?

I don't have a copy of FCE on my home system, but in FCP, the check box for showing Tool Tips is in the General tab of User Preferences. Should be the same in FCE.

You can resize the keyboard window, positioning the mouse pointer at the edge of the window, clicking and dragging to the desired size.

Sign in as sysdba causes TNS lost contact, any hints?

after a struggly update of RDBMS to 10.2.0.4 I can't connect any more.
Trying / as sysdba fails , also does sys/syspasswd as sysdba.
The error returned from listener looks like:
12457 :TNS lost contact
Thus, it's not possible to run startup upgrade against the instances.
Any hints?

Two different versions matched when then installer crashed based on a java conflict. It caused many problems to sqlplus, rman, emctl, job system and so on.
I've thought about relink per packet or relink all, but didn't want to risk more trouble.
For solution of the problem there was assistance by support. Created a new ORACLE_HOME 10.2.0.3, copied needed files (ORACLE_HOME/dbs, network files) from the old one to the new one, switched environment vars to the new matching positions.
After some tests against the database the damaged installation was removed using OUI from old ORACLE_HOME/oui/bin.

Code hinting for HTML5 missing or lost

I have CS6 Dreamweaver and just started to experiment with HTML5.
My understanding is the code hinting is available for HTML5.
However, when I try to use any HTML5 specific tags, there does not seem to be any hinting, nor indication of the tag itself.
For instance, if start to type the "header" tag, that tag never shows in the drop-down list. If I manually use the header tag, no code hinting appears to help complete this tag.
I have verified that I am using the appropriate doctype, and for the new page, used DW's HTML5 to create the new page.
Since this is my first attempt to use HTML5, I really don't know if the hinting was available on the initial CS6 install.
A few weeks ago, I did the recommended upgrade to 12.1.
In doing so, I found I lost a number of settings, and had to reapply several extensions.

Whether this absense of HTML5 code hinting was related to this, I don't know as never really knew whether I had it initially.
Would appreciate any help or direction. Is there an extension that would apply these? I had to reapply the extension for my ColdFusion hinting; but, I thought that HTML5 hinting was built into the CS6 version.

I did not try the modifying stuff with the TagLibraries.vtm file, as not sure want take chance of screwing up what I have!
However, did look at that TagLibraries.vtm file from my CS6 installation, and all the HTML5 tags are there (canvas, header, footer, etc.). Also, shows my ColdFusion tags and many other sets.
However, in my preferences in DW interface -- code hinting -- none of the HTML5 specific tags show up at all. All the others listed in the TagLibraries.vtm other than HTML5 specific.
I guess I could try the posters renaming TagLibraries.vtm, starting DW, then closing, and restoring the name and restart. But, I'm hesitant to start messing around in the core of DW.

Thanks for the input. Interesting that it ran on my computer for a
while (about 2 days) before it first started bleating. I suppose if I
had to upgrade, it would be to the Mac version. Everything else I
have tried on Parallels works, even Steinberg's Wavelab, which I
thought would be an impossibility.
I shall persevere. I am just appalled at the level of support that
Adobe provides, plus the fact that their website just plain doesn't
work.

Lost code hints

I Have lost my automatic code hints in some files. They are
turned on in Preferences but don't come up as I'm keying in code.
Any help?

If you are using Actionscript 3 you should
1) Use event listeners to detect mouse-down and mouse-up
events on the movieclip.
2) Set up functions to drag and drop the movieclip.
3) In the drop function get the x and y position of the
movieclip and
4) trace it out or put the values into dynamic textfields.

Lion Mail lost Smart Mailboxes after reboot! Any hints?

i created several SmartMailBoxes in Apple Mail.
After reboot they are gone.
~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData rights are correct (644 for owner and grp staff)
And no messages at the console.
System: MBA 2011 with 10.7.3 and an exchange and MobileMe account.
Any hints?

Are they gone or just hidden? Place your cursor on the Smart Mailbox title in the sidebar and text should appear to show mailboxes if this is the case.

Lost spelling hints when messaging on iPhone 6 - anyone help?

I have an iPhone 6 and previously when I was texting someone it would pop up 3 words above the keypad that I could select as I was typing in a word and then if selected it filled in that word. Now all of a sudden that option isn't there and I can't for the life of me find out how to get that back? I must have disabled it someone but comes in handy. For instance when I was typing I could put Chr and it would give me Christmas as an option to select and I could select that and not have to type it all in. Anyone know how to get that working again? Also, I have a POP account thru Verizon.net for emails and would like to be able to save my emails to special folders so they are not all in my inbox (those I wish to retain). Would like a work folder but won't allow me to create any new folders...Can this be done and if so how? When I also go on computer to create a new inbox (someone advised me need to do it on computer) I already have folders but don't show on phone? Thanks for all your help.

Now as far as your email is concerned -
I use an Exchange account myself and all my subfolders are duplicated
If the folders from the POP account are not coming through AND you have the account on a computer - is it possible to delete the email account on the phone - reset it and re add it and then see if the folders appear

b, I wanted to let you know something I discovered in moving to the Mac this weekend & there is an equivalent piece of software for PC's.
I thought I had my library backed up on an EHD, but come to find out the EHD was formatted incorrectly for a Mac. HYSTERICS WERE NOW SETTING IN!!! Losing a 13GB library with a large investment in purchased music was not an option. I rememberd iPodRip for Macs. It worked like a chanrm, recovered the whole library off the iPod, all playlists, ratings, etc. It was one of the easiest pieces of software I've ever used. The equivalent software for a PC is iPodAgent, if you don't know about it already. I wanted to give you a heads up about it because I think it's probably a lot easier than MacMuse's instructions on the "compjuter crashed" thread.

The session getattributes lost one row of data in the html input table

I have input three rows of data in a html table. But I found
the last row will disappear and lost when it return the data to
backend. I think that maybe caused there is an error checking which
prompts an error and after that , I change the value of the last(3rd)
row and try to save it. The last row disappear in the UI and being not

I am not sure are you using spring framework or what. if yes you can populate data in command object in referenceData method of simpleformcontroller and that data will be available to the UI.

10.2.0.1 installation problem on redhat 4 (ORA-12547: TNS:lost contact)

I tried to install Oracle 10.2.0.1 on a RedHat 4 box. Both, Oracle and RedHat are 64 bit versions. The installation was fine but the database creation (with dbca) could not create the database because of this error: ORA-12547: TNS:lost contact
I can not find any errors in the installation log. Only this warnings in the make.log:

If you execute "uname -mpi" and output value is x86_64 then you didn't install all required packages.

Berkeley db lost data when using autocommit

I has written an app which uses berkeley db 4.5.20(libdb_cxx-4.5.so). There are serveral threads reading and writing the same db using autocommit. All the reading threads share one db handle and All writing threads have their own db handles. In reading threads, cursor and explicit transaction are used to retrieve data. In write thread, the db->put method is used to write data. In the app, the return value of put is checked to see whether success.
After serveral days running, the app definitely lost some data(there is a thread to dump the imcomming data to disk for comparison), and the return value of put method seems all ok. Can someone point out the possible reason or how to debug this from log files or something else?
The DBENV is opened with flags,

Lost all my files in ipad pages app

I lost all my files on the apple pages app on my ipad. How do I retrieve my lost files?

Dock folders are only links to the actual folders which should be located in your user folder.
Open a finder window andf click on your name. Then yo'll get a list of all your folders which are located there. Standrad should be eight folders: desktop, movies, pictures, music, websites, public, downloads and documents.
When you click on that one, is it still empty?

Can we use online redo log to recover lost datafile in NOARCHIVE mode?

I am working on OCA exam and confued about these 2 sample questions. (similar questions with totally different answer)
Please give me hint about the different between these 2 questions.
** If the database is in NOARCHIVELOG mode, and one of the datafile for tablespace USERS is lost, what kind of recovery is possible? (answer: B)
A. All transactions except those in the USERS tablespace are recoverable up to the loss of the datafile.
B. Recovery is possible only up to the point in time of the last full database backup.
C. The USERS tablespace is recoverable from the online redo log file as long as none of the redo log files have been reused since the last backup.
D. Tablespace point in time recovery is available as long as a full backup of the USERS tablespace exists.
** The database of your company is running in the NOARCHIVELOG mode. You perform a complete backup of the database every night. On Monday morning, you lose the USER1.dbf file belonging to the USERS tablespace. Your database has four redo log groups, and there have been two log switches since Sunday night's backup.
Which is true (answer: B)
A. The database cannot be recovered.
B. The database can be recovered up to the last commit.
C. The database can be recovered only up to the last completed backup.
D. The database can be recovered by performing an incomplete recovery.

I think Gaurav is correct, you can recover to the last commit even in NOARCHIVELOG, as long as all the changes in the redo logs have not been overwritten. So answer should be B for question 2.

[fixed (kinda-)] PCManFM lost file type associations after last update

Hi there,
I just updated my system and it happened something strange: PCManFM lost all the file associations. Result is, for whatever file i click, it asks me how to open the file.
If i right click a file, selecting "Open with … → Open with another program" the "Recommended Applications" tab is empty, on the "All Applications" tab i can select applications as i want, but i can't select, that i want to use this application always.
Folders work as expected, this only happens to files. But not to all files. I still can open text files as expected.
