Hipstamatic lens/film/flash info in iPhoto '11?

I can create a smart album and match "any text" "contains" a certain Hipstamatic film/lens/flash and iPhoto '11 v.9.1.5 finds all photos taken with i.e. the John S Lens. But the only way to view that information is via File/Reveal in Finder/Original File (for which there is no keyboard short cut), open the photo in Preview, select Tool/Show Inspector and look under More Info/TIFF. All the information is listed there under "Software".
Unfortunately Apple doesn’t give access to the "Software" field of the meta data when creating a smart album so one has to use "any text", which doesn’t seem to allow to create a smart album for "Banko Film" that doen’t also contain all "Blanko Noir Film" photos since one can’t successfully use "does not contain" with the "any text" option nor can one use "Album" "is not" with an other smart album.
So this methode doesn’t bring me the full result.
If I copy the text from the "Software" meta data field to the "Discription" field of iPhoto '11 I can create a smart album for "Blanko Film" that doesn’t contain "Blanko Noir Film" photos. And even more importantly I can then easily see all that information for each photo in iPhoto’s Info pane.
But I can’t find a way to automate that copy process. Automator.app doesn’t seem to offer this feature.
Does anyone have any solution to get this to work in iPhoto? Either get the "Software" meta data information copied into iPhoto’s Description field or any other solution to show the lens/film/flash info from Hipstamatic in iPhoto?

Yeah I was looking into Lyn.   I posted a similar thread under the Aperture forum as I am an Aperture user.  I haven't used iPhoto in over 3 years.  I just liked the organizing methods easier in Aperture.  Anyway, that's for a different thread.
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5213862
Lyn looks pretty good and does more than give you metadata.   But $20 bucks is $20 bucks nowadays and seems to be overkill for what I needed.  Old Toads recommendation and use of freeware EXIF VIEWER does the trick.
However, i still feel Aperture should be able to do this within it's own program!!!
Cheers....

  • Sandisk cruzer flash drive and iphoto

everytime i insert my sandisk usb flash drive, iphoto launches automatically ready to import photos, even when there's no photos to import. i usually just command-Q to quit iphoto, but it gets annoying to do it everytime, especially when all i want to do is edit my documents saved in my flash drive. is there a way to stop iphoto from starting everytime i insert my flash drive?

    WuFong:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. In the Image Capture preferences there's a drop down menu titled "When a camera is connected". Select No Application as shown here. that will let you connect the flash drive without iPhoto launching.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

  • Recommendation for correct wide angle lens and flash for real estate photos for Canon Rebel T3i?

Hi I'm new to the forum. I always hire out a professional photog for my real estate photos however have thought that with the amount that I pay them, I could buy my own wide angle lens to do on my own.
Any recommendations for what wide angle lens and flash to buy?
Here are some examples of the work they have done in the past for me:
Any advice would be much appreciated. I enjoy amateur photography with my family and portraits but am hoping to be able to do more of my own work on my listings. Thanks!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Your samples look like incredibility simple images to do. I also suspect little artificial light was added. Possibly just a bounce off the ceiling.
Since you already have a Rebel T3i, I would get the Canon 430 EX, and just one. But be aware it will likely not provide equal coverage for a 10-22mm lens. Ten millimeters is pretty wide even on a T3i. Bouncing off the ceiling will help this.
Some ceilings may not be good for bounce either.
Give it a go and you will learn what works and what not. But the old saying, KISS, applies.  You will learn!
Photshop and/or Lightroom are great additions. They both have learning curves and PS a very long learning curve.

  • Is there anyway to place info on iphoto pics?

Is there anyway to place ©info on iphoto pics?

If you referring to "watermarking" (having the © info appear on the image) then no, iPhoto does not have that capability. You can, however use an application on your Mac called preview. In preview you can annotate images. Meaning, for you needs, add a text box. Open the image in Preview. Click annotate.
    Click the text box generator.
Type your text. You can edit the text using the format bar or go to Tools > Show Fonts in the menu bar.
By the way, you can type a copyright symbol by holding down the option key and typing the letter G.
    Good luck!

  • Can't get rid of the film roll info

Hi. I want to edit and export a photo from iPhoto, but the film roll information is in front of the photo, and I can't get rid of it. I have tried pushing "get info" and the info button in the lower left corner. I don't really understand why anyone at Apple would think it's a useful feature to block your photos with the film roll information. Nothing I can think of makes it go away. Please help me, obviously not a very bright person, figure out what those geniuses thought was an intuitive way to end a very annoying "feature." Thanks.

    Do you mean the date?
iPhoto -> Preferences -> uncheck 'Show Scrolling Information'.

  • I update 'info' in iPhoto on my Macbook Pro. When I move the photos to my iMac, the info is not there. What is the best way to keep my events current on both devices?

I am trying to learn to better manage my photos between my Macbook Pro and my iMac. My Macbook pro is my primary tool for iPhoto. I do all the editing on it. I transferred my photos from my Macbook Pro to my iMac with a flash drive. The editing that I did for these photos is not present on the iMac. Is there a better way to keep my two computers in sync with each other?
    Thanks, Duckledo

How did you transfer the files to the iMac.  If you exported the files out of the MB library using Kind = Current you should get the edited version.  Any other  option may not.
If you want to keep the two libraries "synced"  any photos you want to move to the iMac should be added to an album, connect the two Mac with a LAN, Target Disk Mode,  Transferring files between two computers using FireWire, with WiFi. and use the paid version of  iPhoto Library Manager to copy that album from the MB library to iMac library.  It will also copy the original and edited versions, keywords, titles, etc.

  • Cannot view image info in iPhoto '11

Pressing the info button once highligts it, and pressing it twice opens the panel with linen background but it's empty. iPhoto also slows down or seems to hang after doing this. Otherwise, iPhoto seems to work properly.
Repairing iPhoto permissions and repairing the iPhoto database do not seem to alleviate the problem.
Is there any file containing chached image info that I can prompt rebuilding of by removing it?
    Regards,
    A

Create a new account (systempreferences -> accounts or Users & Groups on 10.7 and 10.8), make a new Library in that account, import some shots  and see if the problem is repeated there. If it is, then a re-install of the app might be indicated. If it's not, then it's likely the app is okay and the problem is something in the main account.

  • "Create New Film Roll" feature in iPhoto

The "Create New Film Roll" feature is no longer available. It is continuously grayed out. Has anyone experienced this before? And if so, how did you correct the problem?

You'll be more likely to get a quick and applicable answer if you ask in the iPhoto forums rather than here in the iTunes forum.
    Good luck.

  • Problem transferring white balance Exif info from iPhoto to Aperture

I originally posted this question on the Aperture discussions page, but it was suggested to me that maybe I should try asking it on the iPhoto page as well.
I want to transfer my iPhoto library over to Aperture, but am reluctant to do so until I have familiarised myself with the new program. (I have over 23,000 photos in iPhoto.)
As a start, I have imported a few of my recent photos from iPhoto so that I can find my way around Aperture. One thing puzzles me. I can see the white balance information for each photo in iPhoto but the white balance field is greyed out in the Aperture metadata, and there is no 'cloud' or 'sun' picture at the top right of the Info panel, even though the white balance field is ticked in the Metadata Fields panels for Exif Info and Camera Info. I really need to know which camera setting I used for each photo to help me learn how to take better photos, but as far as I can see the information is not available to me anywhere in Aperture.
I have performed Aperture Library First Aid (repaired permissions and database, and rebuilt database) but the problem still exists. At the suggestion of someone on the Aperture page I have also created a new Aperture library and then imported some original photos from iPhoto which I exported to the desktop and then into the new Aperture library. I had the same problem, with no white balance information showing. That's when I was advised to try the iPhoto discussions page as well!
Does anyone have any ideas for me please?

Well, Terence, it duly showed up the white balance data when I shot a Raw photo. But I don't understand why Aperture recognises white balance for Raw but won't show it for Jpegs, whereas iPhoto recognises both.

  • Keyword add in any photo's Info crashes iPhoto to desktop

    Hello & thanks in advance:
Attempting any keyword add in any photo's Info frame crashes iPhoto to desktop. I can reopen iphoto no problem, but any further attempt to add even an already existing keyword to a photo's information causes another crash to desktop.
Have done the following so far:
    - Performed each task in Photo Library First Aid in turn, 4 times.
    - Deleted dozens of under-utilized keywords to lighten that portion of the database.
    - OSX and all apps kept up to date thru App Store.
    - Time Machine backups working & available.
Question: Is there a method to restore only iPhoto keywords from backup, as a "JIC that works" next step?
I have EtreCheck and can post output (but will wait until/if requested).
    Thanks again.

    Thanks LarryHN:

  • Flash drives and iphoto

I'm trying to make copies of my picturs on a cd/dvd, but the discs are not large enough. Has anyone been able to copy them onto a flash drive?
    Thanks

Select the photos in iPhoto and export to a desktop folder. Drag that folder to the flash drive

  • When I tap a menu item (File, Edit, View, etc.) flashing info moves across the screen. I am unable to get to Bookmarks, copy or anything. How do I stop this from happening?

    This has never happened before.
I don't understand why the arrow tapped on the menu item
causes the menu list to move rapidly across the window screen.
I am unable to click Print or exit or anything

It depends on the type of video file. If they are .flv files (like youtube.com), you need to install Flash for Firefox; you do not have it installed for Firefox. There are 2 versions of Flash, one for IE only (ActiveX version) and one for most other browsers including Firefox (Plugin version). You must update each one individually.
#'''using Firefox''' download and save Flash from this link (save to your Desktop; easier for you to find): get.adobe.com/flashplayer
#when the download is finished, close Firefox (click Firefox button > Exit '''''OR''''' File > Exit, if using the Menu Bar)
#click or double-click the file you just downloaded
#on the left side of the install window, put a check mark in the box next to "I have read and agree"
#click on the Install button on the lower right of the install window; it will light up after you put the check mark in the previous step
#let the installation complete; it is quick
#'''using Firefox''' test your installation of Flash here: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

  • BIOS Flash info.

Hello all, I am about to install a 4000+ San Diego core with E4 stepping . I know I must flash to a 9X BIOS before it will work.
I have an XP bootable floppy with the 9.4 bios and ADSF1715.exe included. Is the latter file the flash utility?I have read that I should create a flash disk with LIVE UPDATE but I can't see any way to do that.Live Update only comes back with BIOS 3.3 . It totally ignores the 9x ones.I have flashed a many a BIOS in my time from a floppy without trouble but this seems overly complicated.Whoever decided to solder the bios chip directly to the board should be nominated "Genius of the year"
If my Sig. shows up, my system details are there. Thanks for any help.

Thanks for your response.Sorry I did not make myself more clear.
I read the sticky and spent considerable time searching the forum before I posted.I read a lot posts on how to flash but they give conflicting info.In the 9.4 file, the directions say to make a file on C: with the flash exe. and the BIOS file.Make a bootable floppy and boot from it.Change the directory to C,run the flash exe and flash away. Others say to to let live update make a disk(I assume floppy disk), replace the 3.3 with the 9.4 file, change it to AMIBOOT.ROM , boot and let it flash from the ram drive.Live Update did not offer to make a disk for me.It just put the file C drive.I am also warned not to flash from a floppy.I am really confused at this point and would appreciate if you could tell me or give me a link telling me the method I should use.Sorry for the trouble and thanks again.
