HiRes photos

I have created photo pages using the conventional iPhoto / iWeb functionality. But my photos only load in low / med resolution when accessing the site.
Can I provide an option for HiRes - large size - access to the photos?

Making my own thumbnails and creating hyperlinks is quite a bit more difficult than just dragging photos into a photos template but sometimes you have to do what you have to do. You can create thumnails with iPhoto but I decided to create a workflow and I saved it as a finder plugin so I can right click on a photo and create a thumbnail on the spot. Then you drag the thumnail to your iWeb page, select it, open the Inspector, click on the hyperlink tab, and choose the file you want it linked to. If you want a caption, that will require a text box. I chose not to use captions so I avoid that step.
For the Make Thumbnail plugin, it's been a while since I made it but I remember having an issue with Automator's "make thumbnail" workflow listed under "Preview". If I recall, the thumbnails ended up relatively large (in kilobytes). But it did make them. I think I ended up doing something with the iMagine Photo tools instead. Plus I used iMagine to create several "scale image" plugins so really large photos could be scaled down to a more manageable and downloadable size.
As with a lot of things, getting everything set up takes some time. But once it's set up right, everything goes smoothly from there.

Help: HiRes photo on Ipod Touch

Impossible to delete HiRes photo in the folder called: Saved photos
What i Did..
I used my Yahoo mail in the mail with the ipod Touch. Received a Hires Picture made with a Canon SLR, its about 4.2 megs jpeg huge Hires pic.
So, i open my yahoo email and click the picture, save into my called Saved photos folder.
When i go to the icon Photo on the Touch, I can see the thumbnail of this picture, but if i click on it.. it tried to open, freeze and restard the ipod Touch.
So, i tried to delete it.. not able to because the picture won't open. (too much resolution ??)
So even if i use itunes, or iPhoto I can't see the folder called Saved photos or not able to delete it.
What Solution? How to manualy manage photos on the Touch? Using 3rd party apps? wich one?
I also Restore the ipod but it comes with this picture.. so, not better

When you connect to your Mac, does iPhoto launch? You cannot manually manage the pics on your IPT, but you can choose the option to delete the photos after the transfer. Try that, and it should eliminate the pic from the IPT.
If not, perform another Restore, but _do not_ select the option to restore from the backup. After that, the photo will be gone.

Mac os x leopard is slow

I've had my Mac for over a year now. It's a Mac OS X 10.5.4 leopard. Lately, it has been acting up (freezing and being really slow).I tried deleting a lot of applications that were not necessary. Apparently that didn't work. How do i get my Mac to become faster and not freeze so much?

do you regularly shut it down / do a restart?
--> that free´s up memory (if the virtual memory (SWAP) file is really huge, that slows it down
--> either do regular restarts (costs time), don´t let as many programs run at the same time (costs time) or buy more memory (not really expensive)
for a 10.5 machine you should have at least 1GB, with current prices for RAM, I personally go for at least 2GB (3 or 4 if you´re doing lots of video / 3D / hires-photo stuff)
--> how full is the HD (click on the HD icon once, then command-i (get info) - as a rule of thumb, there shpould be about 20% free space. If you´re below 5%, get a bigger HD (but first throw some more doce and or files away)

Upgraded from CF7 to CF8.01 and all the hotfixes. Since the
upgrade, dynamic .pdfs are super slow. I commented out an image,
and now it loads faster. What changed in CF8.01 to cause problems
with including dynamic images in .pdfs? How do I get around this
and still use images? Here's my code..

Iphoto problem on a new mac

I downloaded pictures to iphoto into a new event on a new imac. When I click on Events the album comes up. The thumbnail photos are there when I double click on the event but when I double click on a photo I get a black background, white circle with a black exclamation point. If I select 'edit' I can see the pics but go no farther.

Welcome to the Apple user discussion forums
This indicates that the iPhoto database has lost its path to the HiRes photo - it is often caused by user activity inside the iPhoto library package - have you made any changed to the iPhoto library via the finder?
If you have not try rebuilding the library - launch Iphoto while depressing the option (alt) and command (apple) keys and use the rebuild dialogue to rebuils - select the first three options

AGP Macs have only one AGP slot, so you couldn't add
a 9600. If you can only calibrate one display at a
time, just calibrate with one monitor connected at a
time, and give the profiles different names. When
both monitors are connected you can assign each

2010 15" HiRes Anti-Glare video and photo viewing issues

In January 2012 I bought my MBP through Apple's refurb dept.
After some weird glitchy things, which a recent format may have fixed, and some overall speed issues that i cant figure out, my monitor seems to suck.
Movies are WAY too dark, and while I can fix it a little in the DVD options, the movies look like they're on a 13 year old plasma TV, not too vivid and not too sharp.
I also do photo editing which is why I bought my 24" matte screen iMac in 2006 and why I bought the upgraded screen on this MBP. But my iMac screen played back movies and photos much sharper and with better color rendition than this MBP screen. (On top of that, my 3GB iMac was peppier and just seemed faster running programs than this 8GB MBP.)
Help.
I can't really go to an apple store because I moved from the US to Japan. The move here is the whole reason I bought the MBP, and now I miss my old iMac.

That said .. please keep in mind that running your machine with faster card will cause it heat up more and drain battery rather quickly .. gfx card status has a nice switch in it's preferences that allows you to set the preferred card for machines power states

Can't get photos of itouch onto computer or itunes

Hi, can someone tell me why I do not have a "photos" tab in itunes? My screen size is fine hires etc. I don't have a photos tab at all under library or under my itouch folders when it is connected. Also my itouch doesn't show up under devices in iphoto or image capture. All software is up to date too. I'm new to using my itouch to take photos so not sure if I'm supposed to be using camera roll, photo stream albums or what, doesn't seem very straight forward at all. Any advice?

The point is I want to be able to connect the ipod to MY computer! Plus I am from New Zealand so I see there is no genius bar here.
I just want to know why iphoto is no longer recognising my itouch as a camera? is there a setting on the itouch I have possibly turned off or something?
In the support notes it says to restore my itouch as a new device - so when I have synced my itouch to itunes can I guarantee my photos will be there, as they don't show up in itunes either, just music, apps, movies, TV shows, everything but photos for some reason.

How I figured out how to get all of my photos to Sync

Try this, hold the opt + cmd key when opening Iphoto, Check all the boxs to rebuild your library. Go get a beer (it could take a while **took mine 4 hours for 6543 photos**), if the rebuild is done. Quit Iphoto, launch Itunes (make sure all your ipod photo sync prefs are right) , and pray. It worked for me. Finally.
Exporting 6500 photos, re importing them and creating albums.... umm I don't have time, much less years to do that, especially when it shouldn't be doing this in the first place
Btw, I had this problem, made several posts, and NOBODY responded.
Look at my posts, you'll see. All of the postings I replied to are steps that got me on the right path, to making it worse. This is about as frustrating as it gets. So I called apple. I was on the phone with them for FIVE hours and no one there could help me. They said, "We'll get an engineer to help you, and get right back to you" I haven't heard a thing. VERY DISAPOINTED in apple care.
Don't count on anyone or anything from here, just takes time away from our short lives, a and replaces it with angst. Same with Apple Care. Im glad I paid for that nonsence, NOT! At least I will get a battery change out of them.
If worse comes to worse, sit back relax, and be thankful your ipod isn't floating in Mississippi.

I tell you how. dumb luck. Certainly no thanks to "Apple Care" or maybe we should call them apple "careless." I told them my issue , and what I did to fix it so far. They tell me to delete the ipod photo cache and resync. They kill me.
What kills me even more is * I preface this by stating that I am in no way a racist, and this has nothing to do with race, color, or creed, it has to do with getting good customer service. I, myself, am disabled. I have an artificial pelvis and left leg. I know my limits, you wont see me trying to get a job where my disability affects the job I was doing. I running any marathons any time soon*
Id call apple care again, but Im not fluent in some of the languages the telephone customer service agents speak. Funny, youd think that apple would try and get customer service people that can be understood over the phone. Its like hiring a blind guy to drive a school bus. They will get you somewhere, but probably not where you wanted to go. Maybe we should call the Apple HR dept and have them hire some deaf people to field service calls, would be just as smart as hiring someone who was mute, or in Their case someone that can not be understood by an English speaking person. Just my two cents. Feel free to pass it on.

Need to prep some still photos for doc project & don't have photoshop

My producer just sent me some photos to use but they are way too hires for Final Cut and also some need to be rotated and cropped. Usually I use photoshop for this but haven't upgraded to the new version and the old version won't work with OS 10.5 so what can I use? Does Final Cut studio include software that would help me do some basic photo manipulation? I have never used Motion but it seems way too complicated for what I need to do.
Can I use iPhoto or will that compromise my picture quality in some way?

Why are some of my photos in my Photo Library doubled?

Wondering why, when I synced my photos, my photos have been doubled. I can't seem to find a way to fix this. I also can only select "All folders" and not "Selected Folders" now.

I like the way these galleries expand to browser width - both the thumbs and big image enlarge. I want to learn to make a photo gallery (+ slideshow) perform like this or hire someone with the specific skill set needed to make it for me. I've looked around quite a bit online at photo gallery apps, both free and for sale, including some offered by forum regulars (thanks!), but haven't found one I really liked.
My intent is not to copy this gallery (that would be stealing), just to adopt the expanding images- to browser width feature.
I know Flash could do it but I don't see .swf anywhere in the source... would it be done with Javascript or a combination of apps?

What I didn't mention before is that the photo gallery I want will be only one part of a community-based commercial site under development that needs to integrate with other parts.
That's why I'm asking what sort of developer/skills I'd need to make this happen.

Import People tags from Windows Live Photo Gallery

I've used Windows Live Photo Gallery for years and have over 15k images that have people tags embedded in the metadata for the files. I recently downloaded the Photoshop Elements 13 trial and am trying to determine if the organizer that ships with it will meet my needs, however, I am not seeing a way to import People tags from my existing images. I have imported the images, and most of the photo tags appear to have been imported, but not the people tags. Is there any built-in way to import people tags from the file-based EXIF metadata, or an external tool or add-in that might be able to bring my WLPG People Tags into PE13?

Adding a 'Me too' to bump this up. Doing the '30 day evaluation' as I'm looking to change only because MSFT has abandoned the product and I some better editing on things like 'healing/clone brush' for the picture's I scan (using the very old Digital Image Pro). Google's Picasa has no problem recognizing them including the location of the face selection (though it does like to recognize over top of them sometimes).
I can deal with some of the amazingly frustrating clunkiness of the UI and navigation (they seriously need to hire some new usability designers) but it is a show stopper if the People aspect won't recognize existing tags from WLG and/or Picasa.
