His / Her iPods-One Mac mini-2 separate logins users....

and how can I sync her ipod on the mac. We both us one mini in office with two users. I want to sync all her emails,Mail, iCal,Address book as I do on my login side.
Cheers

If you already have to separate user accounts for your Mac, there should be no problem setting up the sync for her ipod, everybody has his own iTunes library and account etc.
But if you're connecting to a new account for the first time, your device will be erased during the first sync and all content will be replaced with the content of the new iTunes library.
To save your data and settings, you'll need to back up manually. Here's how to:
Disable autosync in iTunes/settings/devices, set up the new iTunes account, connect her ipod and right click on it in the device list, choose "backup". iTunes will backup without syncing, see what's inside the backup here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Transfer your purchases after the backup is finished by right clicking and choosing "transfer purchases".
Set up at least one contact and event on the Mac, to be able to merge contacts and calendars during the first sync process.
As already mentioned, the ipod will be erased during the setup, but you can restore all data and settings by using the manual backup.
Music, unless bought in iTunes and transferred with your purchases, can not be copied back to the Mac.

  • Two .me  accounts, 2 iphones - one mac mini?

So here is my problem...the wife and I have 2 iphones, both have two .me accounts which we use to buy our own music, vids, etc. This all works through itunes as I have it authorized to play all.
However when I conect hers to the mac mini, and disconect when she buys items from itunes on her iphone the iphone has my account on it - is there any way we can avoid this?
Is the only answer having to accounts on the mac mini to log in to?
    Can anyone help?

The iTunes account that is available on an iPhone is transferred to the iPhone with the iTunes account that is logged in with iTunes when syncing.
This is supposed to be different with firmware update 3.0 to be released this summer.

  • How to clone one mac mini and restore on another

    Hi,
I have 2 mac mini's. Both are version OSX 10.6.8.
Is it possible to backup one Mac Mini and fully restore on the other so it is an exact clone? So software, files, user accounts, settings etc. would all need to be backed up and restored from the source machine to the target machine
    Cheers

    See:
    http://nyacomputing.com/how-to-create-a-bootable-clone-of-your-mac-hard-drive/
You can use Disk Utility if you boot into recovery as described in the article
If you want to cone one Mini to the other, Boot the source Mini in recovery and the other one in Target Disk mode and connect the two via firewire

  • Conecting 15 machinse (8 mac Pro + 7 Power Mac G4) to one mac mini.

I need to Conecting 15 machinse (8 mac Pro + 7 Power Mac G4) to one mac mini at the same time with out destrict me after 10 or 11 logins or i need the Software "Apple File Share Server or Apple Share IP instaler to run on Mac OS 9.2.2.

    Thanks for the advice!
I'll look into getting a good quality UPS in the meantime, however the situation changed the other day when I came home from work.
I turned on the Mac and it got as far as the login screen. After about two minutes of being on the login screen (I didn't actually enter my details or touch anything at this stage) it just turned itself off randomly. Therefore, I don't think what I'm trying to do in Avidemux is totally to blame for the problem in this respect.
After the Mac turned itself off this time, it wouldn't let me turn it back on for about 30 seconds of pressing the power button. When it finally started up again, it seemed to run fine for the rest of the evening.
Does this sound like the power supply is on its way out or could it be something else? If I need a new power supply, will I need a specific type of power supply and not just a standard PC one?
    Any further help appreciated.

  • Moving a hard drive from one Mac Mini to another to create a twin Mini Mac

I have been a PC user since before the stone age, or atleast since the comadore 64, Then I upgraded to a PC with an actual hard drive. It was huge, 12 MB!
along the road I had purchased 3 Mac laptops. All were new and I just never got used to either so I ended up selling both. About 6 years ago I got an iPhone. I have had ipods since they came out and I liked the data integration. Then an appleTV with a HD now 3 more apple TV 3s. Got an iPad 2 followed by an iPad 3 . Last fall my 2 year old 1500 dollar sony lap top with an i7 processor just would not power up at all, It was a nice PC but to be honest I used to be a Sony fan byt after losing 3 out of 4 laptops, and reading about Apples Intel processors, I thought I would try one more time. What a terriffic way to wean off of windows. I am running OSX Maverics with windows 8.1 on bootcamp. I still need windows for a few programs I am running.
One of my biggest thrills is the amount of inexpensive and even free software available on a Mac. And when a new OS comes out, I dont nmeed to fork up a minimum of 2 to 400 dolars to upgrade. Most microsoft software is very expensive.
Im saying all that to say this,
I want/need one more computer in my shop. Prior to my Mac purchase I had 2 PCs running with Windows 8-8.1 Lots o people bitched about the huge change from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1 but personally I love it. Its actually more like a mac now than windows. With  running a SSD Windows 8.1 is very fast.
So when I got my Mac Mini with a 1TB hard drive, I took my 250 gb SSD out of my Sony and reformated it. Used Copy clone to clone the Mac OS to the SSD. Very fast and perfect copy. (since then I purchased Copy clone and every day at 11:30 PM CC copyies my SSD Mac Partition to the original HD.
I still havent completely figured how to do the same with my Boot Camp partition. but I purchased Win Clone. There is a fairly long process to seting up the samy system as I have for cloning my mac which is as easy as copying a folder.
    Sorry for rambeling
Here is my question. Now that I have a perfectyly cloned hard drive of the actujal hard drive I use inmy Mac Mini, I want to purchase another mac mini, 2012 same as mine. I have an i7 but to save a little I may go with an I5. Can I take that cloned hard drive and just plug it into my new Mac Mini and Viola I have two computers set up perfectly for me when it only took a few minutes. (if this is possible why would anyone ever buy a PC again. I realize a Mac Mini is not the most powerful computer out there, But as tech goes, Its about the most powerful Desk top I have ever owned. I have a secone 120GB SSD that I could then copy both OS systems to. I save all my data extrernally via USB 3 or Firewire 800 to a Promise DS 4600 with 2-3tb hard drives and room for 2 more. I mirrior these right now and have plenty of storage for me
I will use a 1 TB external drive for my shop mac,
Truthfullyu if this works, My mini macs can keep procreating other mini macs all the same configuration
Something I just never could conceve before with a PC. Each PC setup was its own Labor of love and hate. and as much backing up you do, forgfet it, Its still a major deal when one crashes! Hope I didnt run on too long
    Thanks

Can I take that cloned hard drive and just plug it into my new Mac Mini and Viola I have two computers set up perfectly
    Yes.

  • Best USB 2.0 Hub to use with iPods and Mac Mini 2009?

I am using my Mac Mini as my iTunes station, and I have five iPods
that are connected to my master iTunes Station.
Recently I needed to add a USB drive to add more space to the mini.
Along with a wireless keyboard ( that uses a USB transmuting dongle)
I am short two USB ports. Can anyone recommend a good USB hub
that is compatible with iPod Touch, iPod Mini, IPod Shuffle, iPod Classic 30GB,
and iPod Classic 160GB for iTunes synching and charging?

Anyone have any luck with this hub:

looks like the White Belkin one, but is on Amazon for about half the price, and
other than being brown, I don't see a difference?

  • Sync both iPod Touch & Mac Mini to Al BT Keyboard Simultaneously

I have synced my Aluminum BT keyboard with my iPod Touch iOS 4 with good result. However it no longer was in sync with my Mac Mini. I then could not sync with my Mac Mini. I had to shut off the iPod to get back to the Mac Mini. Most frustrating. Do I have to buy a second Al BT Keyboard in order to have a keyboard sync with my iPod? Or can I get the keyboard to do two devices simultaneously.

The Apple wireless keyboard will only work with one mac devise at a time. I have two Apple wireless keyboards.

I just got a mac mini, and have two accounts. one is the admin and a second for another person. I'd like to be able to use the same itune library without having to have two separate files (each at 12.9GB).
I tried to put the itune music file in the shared folder and tell the second account's itune to play from it, but it does not work.
    how to do this?

  • I can no longer access Twitter from ONE Mac Mini on my network

Almost every time I try to go to twitter.com on one of my Mac Minis in either Safari or Firefox, I am unable to.
    On Safari I get:
Safari can’t open the page “https://twitter.com/” because Safari can’t connect to the server “twitter.com”.
    On Firefox I get:
    Unable to connect
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at twitter.com.
    * The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
    moments.
    * If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
    connection.
    * If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.
Every now and then, about 1 out of 10 times, the page will load but it won't update my feed and I am unable to tweet. The twitter app from the app store can not connect either for some reason. Twitter.com works on all other computers on my network except this one. I have cleared my cache, history, cookies, and nothing is working. Anyone have any ideas what the problem could be?
    Message was edited by: iDiscussAppleStuff

I had this problem with my MacBook Pro. The twitter app would time out trying to connect to the server, and safari just refused to load the twitter web page. All my other apple devices on the other hand worked perfectly. I cleared the cache, history, rebooted, and added the twitter app to my security list, to allow all access. It still didn't do the trick. I gave up for awhile hoping it would fix itself. I took my computer to a coffee shop and the twitter app worked. So I figured, I would reboot my time capsule, just for the heck of it, and It worked..!

  • IPod Touch & Mac Mini wireless

    I have:
    Mac Mini
    iPod Touch
    Wired network.
I have read that this can be done, but cannot figure out how to do it properly.
Need: Have the iPod touch use the Mac Mini as a wireless router/station so that I can browse the web from within 10 feet of the mac mini.
problem: I cannot get the iPod to pick up any web sites, but I can see the wireless share.
Can someone point me to a clear set of instructions on how to share out the mac mini so that an iPod touch can connect and browse the web?

Is the firewall enabled on the Mac mini? If so, you will need to enable Personal Web Sharing on the Mac mini. This punches a hole through the firewall so that the normal web browsing port is accessible via the shared connection.

  • Two libraries on one mac (mini) visible using remote app, how?

    Hi all,
I would like to have multiple libraries on one mac so i can access them via my remote app on my ipad
    Reason;
I have 700+ albums in different musical areas. I can only see the album art when i am in the library of the remote app. The different playlists dont show artwork but just the songs.
If i can make different libraries i have a better overview of all the art work
Does anyone know how to make both libraries on the same mac, visible on my remote app?
    thanks in advance
    Frits

I don't think the issue is one of Apache (not even sure it's one of named virtual hosts since you want both sites to serve the same content). The issue is one of having multiple .local names point to the same machine.
I don't know this can be done without your own DNS server running in the network.

    k...
Boot the mini into TD mode
Connect it to the "other" Mac
Insert the install disk in the "other" Mac
Start the installer which will reboot the "other" Mac
Once the "other" Mac has restarted and is running from the install disk, you should be able to select the Mini's drive (the FW disk) as the install destination. If not, go into the Disk Utility (under the "Utilities" menu) and check out the FW disk. You may need to "repair" it, repair permissions or reformat it depending on the condition of the disk and the type of partition it contains.

  • ITunes Library is locked on NAS - Config = three PC's and one Mac Mini

I have just purchased a mac mini to compliment the familys three laptops.
My itunes media and library are stored on a NAS and previously all the computers (running Windows) could access the library simultaneously. However now I am not able to open a iTunes on the Mac Mini and a Windows laptop at the same time, the 2nd compputer to access, whether it be the Mac or the PC  gets the message "The iTunes Library.itl file is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have write permission for this file."
My sole intention of getting the Mac Mini was to have itunes permanently open on it so that my ipads etc could access the DRM content. so to keep closing iTunes on the Mac is not realy an option.

    See above message.
