Hissing/buzzing when scrolling/video
Hey, I've had my MBP since April of 2008, and it has always had this hissing/buzzing sound when i scroll through any page and when I watch a video (online or offline). I took it to apple, but they said they couldn't hear it. Sometimes it's faint, sometimes it's loud. I read on other posts that spoke of a hissing buzzing sound that happens constantly, but mine is only when i scroll or watch videos. Does anyone have a suggestion?
Can you put your ear down by the keyboard and tell what part of the case it is emanating from? Left, front, back, etc. Sounds like a graphics circuit issue--possibly a coil oscillating, in which case the logic board would need replacing.

Hp stream 13 buzz when playing video
I just got an HP Stream 13 Touchscreen notebook and when I play videos from youtube, netflix there is an annoying buzz in the audio every so often. It even happens when I play streaming audio, but less often. I updated all of the drivers and software from HP's website. Windows is up to date also. I have very good internet access (cable modem) and this doesn't happen with my other laptops. The buzz happens wheather I'm using headphones, chromecast or the notebook speakers. I had an HP support tech take control of my notebook and he said the hd video driver was corrupted. He also updated the BIOS. I had already done those things and am skeptical of his suggestion when it continued to make the buzz. He said to send in the notebook and they will replace the speakers. Umm.. it happens with headphones??? So why would they replace the speakers? Anyone else having this trouble with the HP Stream? I've seen where people are having problems with the buzz and other laptops. Thanks in advance.
Were you responding to my message for ? For the keyboard problem you describe, see the following two pages. There is a section on cleaning the keyboard which shows how to remove and replace individual keys safely. I hope that helps with that problem.Notebook Keyboard Troubleshooting (Windows 8)
Cleaning your Notebook PCAs to your sound problem, you mentioned that you got a replacement and it was fine but later you got the buzzing in it as well. I am curious as to whether this problem occurs only when plugged into a wall outlet. If you find that the buzzing does not occur when you are running on battery power, but does happen, when plugged in, I would recommend trying different power outlets. You may be getting some sort of feedback from your power. Just an oddball thing to check out. Also did you try out any of the things I gave for Kelvin7879 to do? -
At first, the same night I decided to update--things were fine but after using the browser hours later a second time: some flash scripts would simply not respond and freeze the tab the content is on or like in my question, constantly stutter. The problem for flash videos only seem to occur when I scroll onto links or when moving up/down a page. I encountered similar problem with FF7--like that time, I installed/uninstalled the flash player and even resetted firefox but to no avail--the problem persisted. It is also present while in safe mode. P.s. such problem is seemingly not present in other browsers which brought me to ask this question for assistance.
I have the same issue. When I scroll past embedded videos, such as YouTube videos, they are torn or disrupted. The video may shrink in size when I scroll, etc. Issues only arise when scrolling past the video. When playing, no issues.
I've tried the following that did not help:
Safe mode
Video driver up to date
Flash completely up to date
All plugins up to date.
Only started happening when I updated to FF13. -
iOS 6 update has done something to the YouTube icon and now I can't see videos when following the new link in the bookmark bar. Flash player required message appears and there is a black bar when scrolling.
YouTube is not now part of iOS 6. However, you can download the YouTube app at http://itunes.apple.com/app/youtube/id544007664.

When taking video the sound is a loud hiss on the playback (and when transferred/uploaded to computer) drowning out the sound of the video itself. How do I fix this?
I'm using the default camera app with the phone. Happens every time with videos that I take with the camera. does not occur when watching other videos, only videos taken with the phone. and when the video is uploaded to a computer or online, the hiss stays with the video.
I just bought the phone a few months ago, so this is the first time I’ve tried taking video with it. I’ve tested repeatedly to see if its intermittent but it’s constant.

{I also had this problem a couple of weeks ago. I recorded video on my iphone 4s and there was no sound on playback, but when I synced the video to my MBP, the audio was there. I was surprised I couldn't find the answer on the internet. I found some postings where people said to stick a pin in the hole next to the microphone, and they swore that worked. But, that sounded a little dangerous to try on my new iphone4s.
So I finally went to the genius bar and asked them. It turned out that the volume buttons on the side of the iphone are set differently for each of the built-in apps that use it. So while I had the volume set comfortably for cell phone use, it turned out that it was set to zero for video playback within the Camera app.
As a former user interface designer, it's perplexing to me that the volume buttons DO NOT universally apply to all the apps on the iPhone. You'd think the Apple manuals or website would tell users, but I couldn't find this in any of their documentation online.} -
Flash content distorts when scrolling and switching tabs.. since FF 13.0.1..
Before describing the issue
Please note from the System Details pane to this post that I have the latest flash, etc.
And Windows updates,are up to date.

Issue: Scrolling distorts flash player window (Youtube, hulu, etc.)
Since: FF 13.0.1 update in June. (I posted on the issue under "badly scrambled images".)
Problem is still there with FF 14.0.1
This distortion happens:
# even with just starting the browser (so no bloated cache)
# even with just only one or two tabs open.
And since last week's update to FF 14.01, I have also detected:
Switching to the the tab with flash content will "imprint" the image from the my previous tab on to the flash player. I have to scroll or refresh to get the flash player to show its content.
FYI, none of these flash player problems occur with IE9.
The advise from a regular contributor was to turn off hardware acceleration, but these did not solve this issue.:(
Solutions suggesting disabling all the plugins etc. have not solved the problem either.
So if you can tell me some other way to solve this, I will appreciate it.

I have reset the profile and updated the Nvidia driver. The version of FF is 14.0.1. But it still scrambles the pictures.
On top of scrambling the flash content when scrolling, it has additional problems:
As you can see from the attached image, another tab's content is showing on the youtube flash player. This happens when I have paused the video even for a short time.
I have a suspicion that the combination of Flash and Firefox does some weird things to graphic processing and memory.
(I realize that IE implements Flash differently, but they seem to have this right.)
I might just have to say goodbye to Firefox for a while.

Firefox 37 Beta on Windows 8.1 has lag and stuttering when scrolling
I just recently got a new laptop, and since the minute I've installed firefox on it there has been lag when scrolling webpages. It seems to start off not too badly, with there being some stuttering when I first open firefox, however it seems like the longer I'm browsing the worse it gets, to the point where sometimes I'll start scrolling and then a second later firefox will just jump to the bottom of the page. Internet Explorer and Chrome both have perfectly smooth scrolling.
I've tried numerous things to fix it already, this is some of the stuff I can remember trying:
-Turning off hardware acceleration and smooth scrolling
-Starting in safe mode
-Complete reinstall with new profile
-Updating graphics card and intel drivers
Specs of the new laptop:
Core i7
GTX 970M
16Gb RAMWhen I was trying different versions of Firefox to see if they all had the scrolling problem, I made sure to try 36, 38, and even 31.5 ESL portable. They all have the scrolling problem when my laptop is unplugged. However, when I tried Tor just to see what would happen - bingo! Perfectly smooth scrolling once more. This is especially weird as Tor uses 31.5.3 ESL as a base...
This made me think that it could potentially be a plugin, as Tor doesn't have any plugins installed other than Flash. However, after first disabling, then manually removing, every plugin that was listed in about:plugins the problem continues to persist.
Any idea why Tor would work flawlessly while every other version of firefox suffers the scrolling issue? I couldn't seem to remove the OpenH264 Video Codec provided by Cisco Systems, plugin. Is it possible to remove it in order to see if it is causing the problem? -
[SOLVED] Random crashes when playing videos on Atom J1900 / Intel HD
Hi,
Following my first thread (which has been gladly solved, finally), I'm still getting stuck on the "crashes when playing videos" thing.
FIY here are the specs, copied from my original thread:
I've just bought a Gigabyte Brix to be used as an HTPC. The exact model is GB-BXBT-1900.
I've installed 4 GB of 1.35V RAM (Corsair CT51264BF160B), which is supported by this model, and a Kingston SSD (V300 60GB).
Then of course, I've installed Arch x64 with a base system and Xorg with DE (Xfce).
It can happen after 2 or 50 minutes (it rarely goes beyond this limit), mainly when using VLC, but I could reproduce the same behavior with SMPlayer or even Kodi: the display freezes and I can no longer move the cursor, use the keyboard (to change TTY for example) or access the machine remotely. I'm forced to press the power button for 5 seconds and boot again.
No sign of any warning in the logs, no high temperature on any sensor, nothing that could help me find what to blame. The wired keyboard attached does not show blinking LEDs so I'm assuming it's not a kernel panic.
The thing is, those crashes happen *only* when playing videos. Otherwise the machine is extremely stable and can stay up and running for days or weeks without a crash. But if you play a video on it, be prepared to reboot within the next half-hour.
So I'm assuming this has something to do with the display driver, or its configuration. I did not change anything to the default one, just added "intel_pstate=disabled" to the boot command line as advised in another thread, but it didn't help.

I did use the trik on a custom kernel, i do have freeze (none tomoroy but two today but only on using firefox, so may be another probleme (sna)) but not on video (well i had run 15 video same time, and two where running 2 hours after without crash). May be you should try it (i think it work better).

When scrolling vertically there is an horizontal line which causes distorsion of the screen. I do not have noticed such concern on my iMac or on my macbook. What happen with the macpro ?

If yes, then it sounds like it could be capacitor whine. Not really sure how to fix that, as it's a physical issue with a capacitor on your logic board. My old laptop had/still has that problem, but that company (not Apple) wouldn't cover it under warranty.

Jumbled line across screen when scrolling
Since the past few days my IMac has a jumbled line of type across the screen when scrolling either up or down. It is not in the same place vertically but moves higher or lower seemingly random. Any ideas?

I'm seeing it on a 15" MacBook Pro purchased shortly after release last year. Web pages in Safari sometimes become corrupted (missing bits of lines) when scrolling, especially using the two-finger method, and flash videos and various animations flicker annoyingly.
Given the range of hardware it has been reported across (and the number of people who have had bits of their Macbooks replaced by Apple only for it to recur), it looks like it's a software problem, and I find it more than a little frustrating that Apple don't publicly acknowledge it yet (if they do, I've found no mention of that, just lots of comments from people affected by it).
Is there a canonical thread/bug that you can register for to be notified when Apple finally fix this?
It's a continuous annoyance at the moment.

Blue background when scrolling, nvidia GTX670, 301.64 drivers
After upgrading video card to Nvidia GTX670 with 301.64 drivers, all firefox windows show a blue background when scrolling.

The problem goes away if hardware acceleration disabled, but stays when all plugins disabled or smooth scrolling enabled/disabled.
Screen is 1920x1200, Windows 7 64-bit, i7-920 CPU.As you've confirmed yet again, the hardware acceleration feature doesn't work equally well with all graphics drivers.
I don't know whether there is a place to report specific problem combinations; you could try the Help > Submit Feedback feature, and try to copy/paste from the Graphics section from the bottom of Help > Troubleshooting Information -
