Hissing noise from the speakers

hi mates,
i hear a hissing sound from the internal speakers whenever the system tries to play sound through the internal speaker, be it a system sound or playing my music, or just by opening a application that may play music, i get this hissing sound before a system sound and this hissing noise continues for some time after the sounds are stopped playing, i get this hissing noise even when i change volume of the speakers. i dont get it through the headphones. the strange thing is i get this hissing noise even if i play a movie when my speakers are muted.
i went through this forum, some members have adviced to reset the pram, smc, reinstall the os, friends i tried all these but still i continue with this problem.
my macbook is brand new and just a week old.
i am really worried about this problem.

hi sailor,
contacted apple phone support, unfortunately apple care number is not free in australia.
first time it took 17min and was not able to contact a technician coz credits in my mobile ran out.
second time it took 25min. i explained all the issues
told them i reset the pram, smc and reinstalled the OS and still i hear the hissing noise.
they replied that speakers may make a hissing noise if the macbook is on battery, but the noise should be very low and it should not be audible, if the noise is audible and loud, they suspect its a hardware failure, i got my case id and will be taking it to the nearest service center here, for them to have a look.
so if u have a macbook that is under warranty dont hesitate to contact them. i guess even refurbished macbooks bought in online store also have a 1yr warranty.

  • S20 Workstation off, noise from the speakers

    Hello,
I have a ThinkStation S20, and lately from time to time you hear a hiss from the speakers even if the workstation is turned off.
    May depend on what?
    thanks

are you referring to the internal speaker or do you have external speakers connected?
does the sound go away when the power cable is disconnected from the S20 and capacitors have fully drained?

  • Popping noise from the speakers.

Today is the first time I've noticed it but also the first time I've used the machine in a truely quiet enviroment. After turning it on I hear slight popping sounds come from the speakers. Mostly the left speaker but a few times the right. Keep in mind there is NO audio playing while it does this.
Maybe its a heat up issue of some sort because while I logged in and typed this it seems to have stopped.
    Anyone else have this happen?

I wanted to contribute to this topic.
I have had my MacBook Pro for 3 months now without any negatice issues of any sort. This is the best, most incredable machine I have ever owned. The other day, after installing a bunch of Widgets, .Mac Podcast pack for Garage Band, and other downloads such as custom icon sets and backgrounds, I noticed that a popping sound began to be emitted out of the left side of my MBP. This sound occurs aproxiamtly ever 20 to 30 seconds. I have rebooted, shut down and restarted, and cleared the cache, etc. many times in the last 3 days with no success at quieting the popping sound.
The only thing that changed on my end was the first time use of Garage Band, and the before mentioned added software to my MBP. Does anyone else who has this problem use that software or modifications?
Is it possible that it is simply a software malfunction causing the sound to be emitted?
Again, after 3 full months my usage patterns have not changed except for this added software/downloads, so I am assuming that since they occurred symotaniously that they are correlated. I hope this is helpful to anyone, end user or Apple themselves.
    Comments/Suggestions/Ect. welcome
    Thanks!

  • Hiss noise from iPad2 speakers when launching an app that uses the speakers

A couple of months ago I bought an iPad2 Wi-Fi. It was working fine until yesterday that it started making a hiss noise every time an app that uses the speakers was launched, for example when the keyboard clicks sound is enabled it will make noise while typing (this is somehow annoying). Is this a known issue?
Is this a hardware defect or can it be fixed with a software upgrade?
    Thanks.

i have the same problem: ipad2 makes noise every time when plays sound (music, video, games, typing)
i'm sure that problem is hardware..
the noise exists only with speaker: if i connect headphones noise disappears

  • Hiss from the speakers?

Hi everyone. I have this new penryn 15" mbp, and i deeply love it!
But I hear a very high pitched hiss coming from the speakers (i think) whenever i am about to hear some noise from the notebook.
for example when i turn on or off the volume, i hear the volume quack and then the hiss starts, and goes away after about 20 seconds. or when i play some song in itunes, it starts immediately and persists while the song is playing.
if i plug some external speaker jack in the headphones port, the hiss coming from the internal speakers stops immediately and i don't think there is any hiss coming from the external speakers, but it might be because they are not very high quality.
This hiss is very high pitched but the volume pretty low so my mother can't even hear it. But i definitely hear it (and i swear i'm not a dog ) and it gives me such a strong headache that i must plug something in the headphones port to make it stop.
And there is a funny thing too.
I used skype perfectly since i received the macbook (one week).
Yesterday, i was using internal speakers, and while i was able to hear every sound, i couldn't hear the caller's voice.
of course i thought it was a caller's problem.. but it wasn't.
When i plugged my external speakers the voice came out!
internal speakers: sounds yes / voice no
external speakers: sounds yes / voice yes
Do you think the hiss problem is related with this "missing voice" issue?
    Have you experienced something similar?
Do you think i should bring my macbook to assistance?
Thank you (and sorry for my english, i hope you can understand me anyway)

  • Removing hiss/noise from amp simulator

Iv recently started to record using Garageband and just cant remove the hiss/noise from the amp simulator without compramising the sound i want for recording drastically. I use quite high gain as i play mainly heavy rock, iv tried turing the gain levels down but im not getting anywhere near the sound i would like to achieve. So do you know of any methods that i can give a go or will i just have to live with the results and compramise?
    Many thanks in advance!
    Scott

Cheers guys for the help, it went down a treat and now i practically have no hiss/noise on my tracks. Thanks very much for letting me get my music down as i want it, you were both very helpful!

  • Phone makes "morse code" sound when in use, not all the time but quite frequently. The sound does not come from the speakers, infact it comes from the comments inside the phone.

When in use my phone makes a quiet buzzing noise coming not from the speakers but the actual phone. It does not do it all the time but it is quite frequent, my phone is an iPhone 5. Please can you tell me what the problem  is?

Make an appointment at the Genius Bar to have it evaluated by the techs there. This is not normal and is probably not something that a user can fix.

  • N95 hissing noise from ear-piece

Me too, I am suffering from this annoying noice when I am in call, it is not extremely digusting but I could not enjoy while using my N95 to make a call!!
    Dear Nokia,
I observed that the hissing noice from the ear-piece will be gone once the screen is in the screen saver mode, i.e. when the time & date horizontal bar is shown.
I tried to press a key to cause the screen back to standby mode, i.e. the main screen, then the noise comes back.
Wait for a while and let it back to screen saver mode, noise is gone again.
This might be something can be fixed with firmware upgrade (I hope my assumption is right) and I will be glad if the noise will disappear in V13 firmware (if any).
    Thanks.

I don't think that hissing is the earpiece. Mine makes funny noises too. Its the screen. Whenever the screen is lit it makes a noise. I think thats the power going through it. I had a motorola v3i and that did the same. Whenever the screen light went off like in standby mode it stopped humming. My N95 is the same. Its normal. Your computer or laptop screen hums when the screen is lit too. It just means its working and has power going through it.
Its not who i am underneath. But what i do that defines me.

  • The audio does not play back from the speakers of my laptop, it plays only through headphones ?

Hi, I am not able to hear playback of audio from the speakers on my laptop. Only if I connect a headphone I am able to hear. Kindly help resolve.
    Regards,
    Vivek. V.

    Hi
    1) Try a Hard Reset as follows.
Remove any devices connected to the notebook.  Shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery, plug in the AC Adapter and start the notebook - check if the speakers are now working.
    2) Please First check if the speaker icon on the unit is not muted.
    3) Go to device manager and uninstall the Sound driver and restart and unit will install the driver automatically.
    4) Try doing System restore to the date when the unit was working fine.
    5) Try to update the driver from hp.com website for Audio & Bios.
Let us know how it goes!

  • Is normal at power mac make noise from the optical drive?

when I power , the mac make some noise from the optical drive , I guess, This is normally? this noise just appear when I update my Mac to Mountain Lion 10.8.2
    Thank you everyone!

Normal, normal, normal. Don't know the reasoning behind it - I suppose the MBP is trying to load anything that might be in the drive at startup. Had me confused for awhile, way back when...

  • Crunching noise from the optical drive

Whenever I try to insert a CD into the disk drive, I get the noise from sample-1 under the "Inserting a disk" section from the Apple support link Mac notebooks with optical drives: Noises from the optical drive - Apple Support
I can't find anything on how to fix this yet so I'm hoping somebody here can help. I bought this macbook secondhand off of somebody on craigslist almost a year ago so I have no way to contact them anymore. I've only used this computer as a backup so I've never known this problem existed before now.
    Any thoughts?
Edit: The CDs won't play and ejects after about 30 seconds of making that crunching noise without showing up anywhere on my drives.

If your optical drive is making a crunching noise it's probably a goner. You can replace it yourself using the guides at iFixIt https://www.ifixit.com/Device/Mac
Or better yet replace it with and SSD for lightning fast performance and get a USB external optical drive.

This is a strange problem. When I connect my iPhone 3GS to my PC, a bizarre sound comes from the speakers of the PC. The sound is constant and low but irritating.

This didn't cross my mind. Becuase no other device is causing the problem. Still, I am going to contact them. Thanks though.

  • Hissing noise from rear of mac pro

    Hi,
My new Mac Pro has a hissing noise at the back of the tower, where the power lead goes in. Is it a power supply problem? Anyone out there with a similar problem?

    Hello, thanks for the responses!
x4...: Haven't tried using another account; my computer has only one registered currently (it's spanking new)
I did try logging into safe mode - while I received no indication that it was on safe mode, all sound functions appeared to be terminated when I logged on after long-pressing Shift. Panicked in a small way there, ha ha.
Bart..: Quitting email clients (mail, gmail, outlook on web) didn't help
And nope - no one else logged into computer.
All this said, the sound has stopped mysteriously right now. There's a good chance it'll start again though (it's done this before, with no connection to newly opened programmes or anything)
    Thanks, all!
