Histogram Takes a Break

I don't hang out here much so pardon me if I'm discussing an issue everyone is already well aware of (I suspect that I am). Never hurts to keep such issues on the radar though so here it is.
A problem I am now experiencing is: the histogram panel displays no data while a slider is being adjusted. In other words the histogram is no longer "live" +while the adjustment is being made+. The histogram returns as soon as you release the slider. Prefer live feedback needless to say.
Exiting Aperture and relaunching solves the problem. Of course I have to relocate the photo I was working on in order to continue the edit. This seems to happen at least once during every session.

Sounds like it definitely isn't a memory issue. I only have 5G of RAM and some projects have thousands of photos without losing the histogram. I haven't searched the forum for histogram discussions and haven't heard of the problem when I pop into the forum intermittently. It may not be a common problem you have I think because noone has replied to confirm the behavior. But maybe the holiday has people less quick in the forums. I have very few problems with Aperture and really mine are all because of some of the export plugins hanging and requiring a force-quit of Aperture.
I know Aperture doesn't reopen to the previous state and photo so I'm sorry my tip about how I quickly get back to the photo you were working on wasn't helpful.
Good luck to you.

I may have found an answer here:

They only thing I can assume is that my external hard drive was slow to start and iTunes defaulted to its old directory (see the last paragraph at the link above). However, once my external was recognized shouldn't everything have fixed itself?

  • O.T. Mac Users - Take A Break with PacMan

When you need a break from the pressures of PSE why not play the improved FREE version of PacMan for MacOSX - http://www.mcsebi.com/
For even more fun, you can download Stone Designs free level editor, Pac the Editor, which lets you design your own levels, and copy and modify existing ones.

  • Take a break

    Hi Guys
Just wanted to drop a note that I'm off for the next 15, (count 'em, 15!), days and have no intention of coming anywhere near these forums. On this basis, I felt that it was only right to:
    a) Wish you all well for the coming year
    b) Insult uj for the last time this year, (Cross-dressing bearded pervert)
    c) Suggest that the stooodents posting here take advantage of the long holiday to work on their assignments
So to scrumptious, kayaman, JustLee, le Pimpernel, JamieOliver, uj and everybody else: Looking forward to not reading your half-hearted attempts at humour over the next couple of weeks.
    It's been real.
    ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR!

Lee, you made the list....And some may have made it twice!Time to find out who's naughty or nice...

  • My macbook pro likes to take frequent breaks

so i started having some "freezing" issues with my macbook pro like 6 weeks ago. I installed techtool deluxe and ran a surface scan, and it came back with 4 errors, so i thought that the hard drive was getting ready to go out on me. I took it in to the genius bar, showed them the report from techtool, and then they ran a bunch of diagnostic tests. we backed everything up, then cleared the drive, ran more tests and then cloned everything back to the drive. all the genius bar tests came back clean, and they told me everything should be good....and it was for about a week. now i'm having the same problems again, only now...techtool doesn't find any errors when the surface scan is run..
    what should i do???

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
I agree with taking it back to the genius. You could also run SMART Utility to see if it detects any errors:
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/systemdiskutilities/smartutility.html
You can download the demo and run it several times for free. It is somewhat more critical than some other hard drive utilities, and may show up problems before Disk Utility or other tests will. If so, show the results to the genius.
According to SMART Utility and SMART Reporter, my drive is beginning to fail. According to Disk Utility, it is fine. I'd be more inclined to believe the more critical utility.
    Good luck!

  • Running Histogram

I'd like to create 4 separate running histograms selectable by tabs.  The part I'm struggling with is how I should have the histogram update...
The machine that I am monitoring does not have consistent time cycles.  The time cycles range from 21 seconds to 45 seconds, and if an operator takes a break, the time cycle can be up to 35 minutes.  Machine downtime can be hours at a time.
So, I can't specify a time interval for which the histogram will update.  Is there a way that I can track a variable and update the histogram when this certain variable changes from 0 to 1?

Fixes: 1. Get rid of the inner While loop. (The Point by Point Vis ahve an inner loop with a shift register to accumulate values).
I did that, and the histogram reset after plotting a single value.  I tried copying the pt by pt histogram VI into that, and yet it still does not accumulate values.
    2. Use the Histogram Graph output of the Histogrm VI. It does exactly the same thing internally as you do to connect to the graph. Open it up and take a look.
    Will do
    3. Use equality testing (Robot Postion 11) in real number with great caution. Due to finite precision representation in the computer, the number 1 could be internally represented as 0.9999999982 which is NOT = 1. Use the In Range and Coerce with suitable tolerances.
In this case, it is True or False coming in from the PLC.  If I place a numeric indicator on it with 0.00000001 accuracy, it is still 1 or 0.  That's why I use it. However, your point is very valid and it was a good reminder, so thank you.
    4. This is personal preference, but I like the In Range and Coerce primitive much better than the In Range express. It uses less diagarm space and the limit values are visible on the diagram rather than being hidden inside the config dialog.
    I agree.
    5. The front panel was huge. Scrolling for 5 minutes to find the other controls does not make a very good user interface. You can put descriptive names on the tabs.
I know; I did that on purpose so it would focus on the histogram for now.  I would never implement something like that for our operators...

  • The 'now playing' feature has gone from my music app on the iphone 6 after the ios 8.3 update. When i go to continue listening to music after a break it does not allow me to continue where i left of as the 'now playing' feature has gone

I have an iphone 6 ios 8.3, the 'now playing' function seems to have disappeared from my music app so if I listen to an album halfway through then take a break when I go back later the 'now playing' feature is not there and it returns me to the artist page. Can anyone help? its the first time I've had this issue.

    That is correct.
That is the price of a replacement iphone once your iphone is outside of the warranty period

  • To not have breaks in between song.

I was wondering if anbody knows how to take the breaks out, I have all these Techno CD's downloaded on my iPod, it recently crashed and Apple fixed it for me so I uploaded a bunch on my cd's back on but there are breaks in between all the songs. Does anybody know how to fix this. I would really appreciate it.
    Thanks...

You are posting in the forum for older iPods, so can we assume that's what you have? If so, these iPods are not capable of gapless playback.
There is however a workaround of sorts.
The way to eliminate the gap between songs is to import the cd as one track. You do this by using the “join cd tracks” option in the advanced menu of iTunes.
Make sure the tracks are in their correct order, and highlight those you wish to join.
No gaps, but the downside is that you will of course lose the ability to navigate between tracks, and the song info is also lost. The iPod will display the cd title in the song field in the “now playing” screen . You’ll also have one large file instead of a number of smaller ones.
Be aware also that playback of single large audio files can shorten battery playtime between charges.
However, if you do indeed have a newer iPod (a 5th gen or a second gen nano), they are capable of gapless playback as this doc explains.

  • Zenity takes 100% CPU Time

When I run as root or normal User
    zenity --notification --text="test"
The zenity process takes 100% Cpu time
    System:
    Arch 32bit gnome 2.22
    Last edited by brickwedde.eu (2008-05-06 11:26:00)

    I GOT IT... I think.
zenity --notification actually calls libnotify! I was trying out a script and suddenly realized something, because by chance dbus decided to take a break. Take a look at these two code fragments.
    $ zenity --info --text "hello"
    $ _
    $ zenity --notification --text "hello"
libnotify-Message: Unable to get session bus: Failed to connect to socket /tmp/dbus-jmMdFXbznS: Connection refused
    <hang>
    <100% CPU usage>
I've figured out why: it's basic socket programming gone wrong. The notification part of zenity calls libnotify, tries to connect to libnotify's socket, and fails, using 100% CPU waiting for the connection to... end a stream that never started.
A possible solution is to just use notify-send.

  • Break-time reading - Cringley on Apple/Adobe

There is an interesting article that you might want to take a look at concerning the future of Aperture and Adobe... fun read if you need to take a break... nothing but unsubstantiated rumors but...
    http://www.pbs.org/cringely/pulpit/2008/pulpit_20080502_004815.html

Same genius saying Apple's selling off the pro apps... because Avid folks were spreading FUD trying to avert their own bankruptcy.

  • Break timings for Flexible work schedules

    Dear All
I am trying to configure the breaks for Flexible working time. (For example :- 24 hour clock, the employee can log in any time  for fixed 9 hours).  what is the procedure in configuring such breaks and since the break times also vary, how do we maintain the same ?
    Thanks in advance
    Best Regards
    Mohammed

    Dear Sehgalji
By using the table v_t550p, we can define only the breaks with fixed times, but i am trying to define breaks with flexible timings, since the working timings are flexi timings
example :- breaks are not defined and employee can take a break anytime for fixed duration of 20 minutes.
    Regards
    Mohammed

  • Internal Activity partial confirmation with breaks

How to a maintain a actvity confirmation with breaks, say for eaxample one internal activty is completed as shown below :
    i) completed 20% - from 01.07.09 to 05.07.09 - 5 days
    ii) completed 30% - from 10.07.09 to 20.07.09 - 11 days
    iii) Completed last 40% - from 25.07.09 to 10.08.09 - 17 days
i.e No part of the activity is executed in between the dates 06.07.09 to 09.07.09 & from 21.07.09 to 24.07.09. it is tarted on 01.07.09 and finally completed on 10.08.09 - (Actually it is taken 33 days) - not 40 days

    Hi Chittaranjan Mohanty ,
Your requirement has conflict with the Intepration of term 'duration' and 'work' in SAP standard.
The duration is not take the break into account. E.g. an activity has duration 20 days (4 weeks) and the work = 4 hours, may the person only do 1 hour for this activity.
For the progress it is does not matter, if therre is a break in the time frame or not. The important is how many works are done till now. The time are keeping going.
The flag 'exact break' for the scheduling has other usage, has nothing to do with your case,  see consulting note 151551.
    Kind regards,
    Zhenbo

  • Career in Sharepoint after a long break, pls advice

I need advice in choosing the career path. I have 5 yrs of programming experience in ASP but this was 10 years back. Had to take a break from career for personal reasons and now I plan to get back. Want to know my future prospects in Sharepoint considering
I am out of touch this long. Where and how to start. Your advices are very much appreciated.

    Nallapu,
There are lots of people new to SharePoint, so you're not alone! You have an ASP (.net?) background, which will probably help you.
There is lots of SharePoint training material out there (some by Microsoft, some by the community and some by training vendors like PluralSight).
It might be a steep learning curve, but it general is when you start out learning something new.
    So go for it!

  • Distribute breaks for shift schedule

please i need some help, i have an employee shift schedule, that need to distribute the daily breaks within each interval shift but as per some conditions,
as shown,I need fill “IN” at the interval cells that match its beside shift,
From Row 14; each row considered an employee shift, in need to give every agent 1 hour as a break
    the build conditions:
    >> every agent must take 3 breaks the first: 15 minuts, the 2nd: 30 minuts, the last 15 minuts.
    >> we couldn't give a break at the first and the last hour at employee shift.
    >> at agent level: the duration between every break shouldn't less than 1 hour and shouldn't more than 3 hours,
    >> at interval level: at each interval break, the slots will be distributed as per SLA value at Row#:"10", change as per the given slots. The SLA value is a percentage value, i need the give breaks at the highest SLA value till this value equal
the next lowest value then give slots to the next lowest value till equal the next lowest ect..., i need this operation to be looped till every employee take his 3 breaks as per the above conditions.
    the workbook
appreciate any support, help to get an answer, thanks in advance,
    Gratefully,

    Hi Ahmed,
I have looked into the workbook, it is very complex. Could you split your requirement into several questions so that it will be easier for us to understand?
    >> every agent must take 3 breaks the first: 15 minuts, the 2nd: 30 minuts, the last 15 minuts.
For this requirement, I think you could define a variable BreakCount, before you set the cell as break, you could check the value of the BreakCount, if it is less that 4, you could set the value of BreakCount +1. If it is larger than 4, break, and go
to next. If you have any other conditions, you could add the if statement before you set the cell as break.
    Hope it will help.
    Best Regards,
    Edward

  • Issues with multiple things since Mavericks update

I installed the Mavericks update and since, I have been having multiple problems with different things on my MacBook Pro 13"
    1. Printer issues: I have an HP officejet 6500 wireless printer (Officejet 6500 E709n Series), and now it's having major issues with printing, yet was working perfect prior to update. It will either cut out pages when printing PDF documents, or printing so slow that it has to take a break in between printing each document (an issue that all never occurred until update), to print documents back to back, it will stop after one document as though I have no other documents in queue to print, and pauses for an extremely long time (nearly a full minute, no exaggeration here, literally almost a full 60 seconds), something it's never done before this update. My Apps update even did an update to the HP software that is inside the Mac already to use printing (in other words, the mac doesn't need to have the HP software manually installed for it to work, it automatically sees the printer because it is connected to my wireless network just as my Macbook Pro which is also connected wirelessly to my network).
    2. Internet issues: am now unable to click on certain links in safari that I was able to use prior to the update, yet they will open fine inside of firefox with no issues, yet I cannot always switch between two different browsers to perform task online (literally have to start all over inside firefox while in the middle of something in safari). Also lots of websites no longer work correctly and I have to constantly clear history and cookies to attempt to use certain sites, at times it will help, other times it wont work period, yet the same exact site will work perfect in firefox (which I do not use, only on my system for use on certain sites for school because in safari prior to the update, I would have issues with only the class site and some links not working at all, no spinning wheel, no errors, just nothing, no response of any kind, basically worse than what it was before the update). Another issue, hit Ctrl+a to select inside Safari and it highlights, but then when you click out of the highlight, it comes back on it's own several times without you hitting anything, just click inside the screen on a blank space (no links, etc) with touchpad.
    3. System issues:  My system is way slower than what it was prior to the update, click on things and it wont respond at all, then minutes later will eventually respond or pops up the spinning color wheel, which it either never responds or takes an extremely long time to respond. And no matter how much I restart, it doesn't help anything. Even just to sit doing nothing, no clicking or usage on the system, and the color wheel pops up.
    4. Mail issues: Mail is now popping up completely blank messages that I have sent out, the person receives it with no issues, yet I cannot look at the message I sent neither in the inbox or the sent items when I need to look at them again, an issue not present prior to update. Also I an now having issues when receiving mail, sometimes it will check for mail and sometimes I have to manually click to make it check the server for mail, an issue not present prior to update as well.
As of now, since I have had the chance to used the system since the update, these are the issues I have had, yet haven't had the chance to check other things, so there may be other issues that are occurring that I'm not aware of at the moment. I knew it would be a mistake to do this "free" update and did so anyway and now having one issue after the next with each application I open to use.
    Mac general info:
Mac is one year old, purchased brand new, no shareware programs of any kind installed.
Use for school and basic web surfing use.
Do not install any programs onto system that I'm unsure are safe (basically programs for/from school/school websites only, or from the Mac Apps store only), not even programs like Skype, nor any windows based programs of any kind.
Lots of free memory avail because I save everything onto external hard drives (purchased brand new as well, only 4months old) in case system crash occurs, only things on the system is Itunes music or pics from photo stream that sync to the system when Iphone connected.
    Mac system info:
    - Processor  2.5 GHz Intel Core i5
    - Memory  4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    - Graphics  Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024 MB
    - Software  OS X 10.9
    - Number of Processors:          1
    - Total Number of Cores:          2
    - L2 Cache (per Core):          256 KB
    - L3 Cache:          3 MB

For those needing help fixing their system and putting it back to Lion or Mountain Lion, this is what I have done to eliminate all my issues in about an hour (depending on your internet connection).
Amazing thing, I just restored my computer back to Mountain Lion, and she's working perfect again, as I knew she would. E-mail popping into mailbox instantly as it should and did before the update, printer working fast as it was before update, no more freezing or glitches of any kind thankfully and finally. Here is the link that is through the Apple site to direct you on how to put your system back and get rid of Maverick's, that is assuming that is what you would like to do and also includes link for those wanting to try fixing the issue if that is your preference (most of this info is for those with mountain lion and some with the previousverisoin of OS X lion).
If you want to keep Maverick's here is a good post on the apple discussion board to help you out:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6161
If you just want to totally get rid of it and put back what you had before, this is the short version of how to do so:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3353
NOTE: This particular link has a lot of info on what to do for different situations, it is a bit lengthy, yet still very helpful.
OS X Mountain Lion: Reinstall OS X (direct from Apple support site, not someone else):
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH10763?viewlocale=en_US
OS X: About OS X Recovery (also from apple support directly and includes some instructions just the same as previous links above):
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718
Just in case you aren't sure what it will all look like as you are doing things, this is a link to show you a few pics of what you will see  as you as you are going through the process, it can be helpful for those who aren't sure what they are doing or how to do things at all:
    http://www.apple.com/osx/recovery/
This is a way to download the Mountain Lion disk info from the server
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1433
I hope this helps someone, it was amazing for me and my system is working perfect again like it was, battery life is way better went from like 3 hours to like 5 (not on full charge by the way, after it sat for a while doing the online update which took a while so that's saying something alone, huge improvement). I plan to wait a while before attempting to reinstall Maverick's, long enough for them to fix the bugs.
