Hit Counters not visible (non .mac domains)

I have my web page forwarded to a .com website and the hit counters are not visible. I can only see them when I view the links to individual pages from the .mac home page (that lists all my web pages and mail).
Is there anything I can do?
Here is my website: http://jpmensgroup.com
I have a counter on the main page, one on calendar page and on the blogs.
Thank you!
Bob

Hi Bob!
Here is the real answer to your question...
I think what you meant to say is that your domain (http://jpmensgroup.com) is forwarded to your iWeb site which is, indeed, published to .Mac. So you are utilizing what is called "domain forwarding" from your domain registrar to your iWeb URL. Additionally, you are using the masking feature to hide the target iWeb URL.
The counters that you placed on your page are certainly there...and I believe they are counting correctly. However because you are using "Domain Forwarding" the counter will not be displayed and the only place you can check on your hits is on the .Mac Homepage. You might try turning off the "masking" feature and see if that allows your counters to be visible, but in my experience this has not helped.
To test out what I am talking about....load up your homepage using your domain http://jpmensgroup.com. No counter, right? Now Control-Click on your page and select "Open frame in new window"....Counter reappears!
Bob, if this answer has been useful to you, I was wondering if you wouldn't mind marking my reply as either "solved" or "helpful" using the little buttons available in the title bar of this reply. Good luck to you! Great looking site!

  • Using iWeb to publish to a non.mac domain

Can I use iweb to develop a web site and publish to a
    domain that is not .mac?
Yes, you can. But not directly from iWeb. You will develop your pages in iWeb but the choose the "Publish to Folder" option. This will put all the files necessary for your website in a folder on your hard drive. You will then need to use an FTP program to upload the site files to your 3rd party web host.
Or can I host a non.mac domain on .mac?
Yes, you can also do this. You can do your pages in iWeb and then "Publish to .Mac". Then you can use "Domain Forwarding" available from your registrar or some other redirecting html to forward people who type in your domain name to you .Mac iWeb URL.
Either method will work fine. You will lose out on .Mac specific features (like slideshows, counters, passwords, comments, search) if you host your pages on a 3rd party web host. Also you lose the ability to do incremental uploads (uploading only changed pages) directly from iWeb if you're not using .Mac.
Good luck to you. If this has been useful information to you, please do me a favor and click the "solved" or "helpful" buttons in the title bar of this reply. Thanks.

  • Non .MAC domain

I have not purchased iWeb yet but hav ethe following question. I havae a current domain with email, etc. Can iWeb publish directly to my current domain or do I need to have a .MAC account?
    Thanx,
    Don C

iWeb cannot publish directly to a non .mac domain. You have to get it to 'Publish to folder' first, then you upload it yourself to your domain using an FTP client. No problems.

  • Publishing to non mac domain

    Hi All;
I own a non .mac domain and need to know if I can publish there from iWeb. How is this done and how do I update pages & blog?
    Many thanks,
    Susan

When you have a site on two different servers it might be helpful to have each site in its own domain file. I use iWebSites to manage the multiple sites.. It lets me create multiple sites and multiple domain files.
If you have multiple sites in one domain file here's the workflow I used to split them into individual site files with iWebSites. Be sure to make a backup copy of your original Domain.sites files before starting the splitting process and move it to another location on your HD until you're satisfied the separation process is completed and what you want.
This lets me edit several sites and only republish the one I want.

  • IWeb Blog to non-.mac Domain

    Hello good folks,
I have my business Website at its own (non apple) domain. I would like to use iWeb to create a blog, and then attach that blog to my business Website. (Therefore, it would be an alternative to wordpress, blogspot, etc.)
    Is this
    -- possible?
    -- advisable?
    -- easy?
    -- pain?
A secondary question: If those answers are a reasonable "yes," then is it possible to update my blog from both my Mac Pro and my PowerBook, and still keep everything reasonably organized?
    Many thanks, as always.

    Mireille,
The helpful tips and product review 'blog' is an 'add-on' to our online store which has a shopping cart and it's SEO set ups that work well. It was made from a template in GoLive. The store is the primary concern and the blog is intended to be a convenient format to provide useful dynamic content to drive search engines and customers to our store.
If I could figure out to use something besides a frame I would as I understand the frames are not search engine friendly either. After submitting the sitemap for the blog, it was interesting to see that only the apparent entries get listed in Google. So, it appears that it is dependent on how many 'excerpts you show' in iWeb and not the archives and it's content.
If there is a sitemap generating app that will point Google to the content in the archives, I'd be very interested to know about it and how effective it is. I've found site search options I can add to the blog content if I load it directly to the site and set up pages versus frames....if the content can be searchable and generate the proper site map.
Here's an interesting page from Rage: http://www.ragesw.com/blog/2008/04/12/seo-for-iweb-how-to-get-your-iweb-websites -into-google-other-major-search-engines/ (which I notice you responded to....:-) )
What does Rage do that this free option I used do better? http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/

  • Mac OS 9 AFP file sharing volume not visible under Mac OS 10.5

An old blue-white PowerMac G3 running Mac OS 9.2.2 with file sharing on is not visible on the network for a MacBook Pro running Mac OS X 10.5.5. – However, a PowerBook G4 with Mac OS X 10.4.11 perfectly shows the G3.
Connecting to the G3 works on the new MacBook Pro with OS X 10.5 if I use the server's IP-address (afp://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx) but does not work if I use the server's name (afp://<servername>).
All other shares on the network are visible for both the MacBook Pro running OS X 10.5 and the PowerBook G4 running OS X 10.4.
Why does the MacBook Pro with Mac OS X 10.5.5 not show the G3?
Why can't I connect to the G3 using its AFP name?

I think this is because there is no AppleTalk on Leopard.
    Ah, I stand corrected........
    Go to SystemPreferences > Network
Select your connection in the left column. Advanced > AppleTalk
    Enable AppleTalk for your connection.

  • External hard drive not visible on Mac Mini

I just purchased a Mini with Lion.  The Seagate Freeagent external hard drive is visible from finder on the Mini but it is "read only" and it is not visible on the wireless network to my macbook.  How can I make the external hard drive read write and make it visible on the network?

OS X can read an NTFS formatted drive, but not write to it.
    Sharing drives | Utilities - Page 1 | Macworld
If you want to use the drive for sharing files between Window's and Mac's, then MS-DOS / FAT-32 works fine, except that it has a 4GB single file size limit.
If you are going to use the drive exclusively with your Intel Mac's for sharing, backup and booting, then use GUID Partition Table / Mac OS Extended (Journaled) for the Partition Scheme and Format.

  • Hit counter not showing in .mac

I have finally republished my web site in iWeb 08. I have si opages in total, and five of them helpfully show up in summary in my .mac homepage, together with a hit counter. However, the sith page is my home page, the one I mostly care about, and this isn't in the list. Is the .mac list limited to five pages? And if so, can I select which five pages it lists?

Take a look at TextEdit available in your Applications folder. Open it up and then look at the Preferences window. Click on the "Open and Save" tab and then check off the box to "ignore rich text commands".
Now you'll want to find your HTML file. If you are NOT publishing to .Mac, then you are using the "Publish to Folder" command in iWeb. You'll then be left with a folder full of files that make up your website. Look inside that folder and you should see a bunch of files that have the .html extension. These are the HTML files that you will want to edit. Find the .html file that is associated with your page. For example, if you page is named "welcome" then there should be a file called "welcome.html".
Control-click on the appropriate .html file and then select "Open with...". Choose TextEdit from the window and then you should see the HTML code for your page! Edit away and then when you are finished just type Apple-S to save your changes. Don't use "Save As..."...just Save.

  • 'Remote' Button not visible in Mac iTunes 12.1

My Remote app on iPhone 6 (iOS 8.2) suddenly stopped working with my Macbook Pro (mid 2012, Yosemite 10.10.2) and iTunes 12.1.    The documentation points to a Remote button in iTunes 12.1 that isn't there.
In the Remote app, my Mac's iTunes library was greyed out for 2 days, so I deleted the connection, and tried to start over.  The app creates a 4 digit code, and says "to add an iTunes library, open iTunes on your computer and choose Remote from the tab bar."  But when I open iTunes and look at the tab bar (music, movie, TV and phone icons in upper left) I don't see a Remote button.  When I select the phone icon, I get a drop down menu, but there is no Remote button visible (I presume I'm looking for the blue circle with the right arrow).
I can reach my 3 Airports from iTunes on my Mac, but have lost the ability to control anything from my iPhone.   I want to know how to find the Remote button in iTunes 12.1, so I can add my Mac's iTunes library to my iPhone Remote app.
Cold re-boots on both devices didn't help, and I unfortunately don't know if this happened after iOS 8.2 update, or iTunes 12.1 update, as I hadn't used the app in a month or so.  Sharing is turned on for both devices.

PS Reinstalled Remote app, with no luck.  Also reset my router.  I've done this setup (iOS Remote app->Mac iTunes) before; it's simply not working anymore.

  • Purchased item not visible in Mac App Store

I have tried downloading Mac OS X Mountain Lion from Mac App store...At the end of download..got error
"The Application Could not be downloaded"..after full 4.37GB download..huh !
Now it is not found in my purchase list...when I go download link..it ask me to BUY again...oh
How can I re install ? What's wrong ? why not installed after download?

Yes, very rare, and I'm not taking over.
But you did ask 'How so'?
Paragraph 3 of the original post says ...
Now it is not found in my purchase list...when I go download link..it ask me to BUY again...oh
Surely he wouldn't be asked to buy again if the Apple records show it was purchased, whatever his personal purchases record says.   It would be a case of re-download.
Anyway ... Happy New Year to you.

  • Can I publish a site to a non-.mac domain?

I am a real new mac user, less than a week. I just got a power mac G4. I bought iLife, and set up a web site. I have had my own domain for a few years now. I published my site to my .mac account, and pointed my domain to it. The domain is www.hanklambert.com. My question is can I also create sites for others who have their own domains (my mother) and publish it directly to her hosting domain? If so, where can I find out how to do that.
    Thanks in advance,

Yes, you can. But to keep things simple, I would suggest that you create multiple accounts on your computer to publish the different sites. That way you don't run into issues with two or more sites in the same Domain file, switching Domain files, etc.
Just create a new login account to your computer...say, for your Grandma's site. Open up iWeb there and you should see a blank slate. Once you have her site designed, just publish to her .Mac account or "publish to a folder" and you can FTP it to her webhost if she doesn't have .Mac.
The whole point is to keep your site separate from other sites that you might design. The easiest thing would be to have a different user account for each site if you are going to be administering these sites regularly.

  • Why are my emails not visible in Mac Mail?

    I have a MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012), 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5, 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024 MB.
Running 10.10 Yosemite.  Have not had trouble until this morning. Was working in mail and suddenly  I could no longer see any emails.
I closed out of mail & opened it again, that did not help. Turned off the computer. No luck. It still shows that I have emails and I can even send
& receive emails. I just can not see them.

Quit Mail. Force quit if necessary.
Back up all data before proceeding.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar. Paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
A folder window will open. Inside it there should be files with names as follows:
              Envelope Index
              ExternalUpdates.storedata
Move those files to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Other files in the folder may have longer names that begin as above. Move those files, if any, to the Trash.
Relaunch Mail. It should prompt you to re-import your messages. You may get a warning that the index is damaged and that Mail has to quit. Click OK. Typically, the process takes a few minutes, but it may take hours if you have gigantic mailboxes. In that case, you may be able to speed things up by temporarily adding your home folder to the Privacy list in the Spotlight preference pane. Remove it when Mail has finished importing.
Test. If Mail now works as expected, you can delete the files you moved to the Desktop. Otherwise, post your results.
