HLS-LIVE streaming problems

Good day,
we are using Adobe Flash Interactive Media server 4.5.1, trying to stream to iPhone/iPad
1) Encoding parameters are as follows(see attached screenshot)
2) When opening a stream on Ipad/iPhone the audio is corrupt. You can see this when opening the following link http://broadcast06.quantumart.ru/hls-live/adaptive-dfm/_definst_/dfm/livestream.m3u8
P.S. In of the recomendations - there was a recomendation to use AAC instead of MP3. For AAC encoding in FMLE we have bought AAC encoder - when encoding to AAC there is no audio AT ALL!

Using the specified aabove AAC encoder, i get constant errors in FMLE, and the broadcasting stops. Here are the logs:
Wed Feb 29 2012 16:13:12 : Primary - Stream[livestream] Status: Success
Wed Feb 29 2012 16:13:12 : Primary - Stream[livestream] Status: NetStream.Publish.Start
Wed Feb 29 2012 16:13:12 : Session Started
Wed Feb 29 2012 16:13:12 : Audio Encoding Started
Wed Feb 29 2012 16:13:13 : Video Encoding Started
Wed Feb 29 2012 16:13:42 : Audio Encoding Stopped
Wed Feb 29 2012 16:13:42 : Video Encoding Stopped
Wed Feb 29 2012 16:13:42 : Session Stopped
Wed Feb 29 2012 16:13:42 : Primary - Network Command: onFCUnpublish
Wed Feb 29 2012 16:13:42 : Primary - Stream[livestream] Status: NetStream.Unpublish.Success
While using MP3 everything works great except for "hickups" in audio on iPhone/iPad

    Hi,
We use  FMS 4.5.1 for streaming MP4 (H264/AAC) live streams to flash clients and iPads. Occassionally iPad viewers get error messages indicating that the video cannot be played. On these occasions we see error messages like this in our Apache logs:
mod_hlshttp [500]: Invalid timestamp found in the message while processing /hls-live/streams/rd-mp4/events/noordoostpolder_1/liveevent/livestreamNum4390.ts
Strangely enough this error message cannot be found anywhere in Adobe's documentation or anywhere else on the net (or perhaps I haven't searched well enough...)
Has anyone else here encountered this problem and/or does anyone have an idea as to what causes these messages and this problem?

  • Live stream problem with FMS 4.5 + FMLE

    Hi,
I've got a live stream (and DVR) setup using FMS 4.5 and FMLE.
The hardware for the FMS server we use is 2x Xeon E5645 2.4GHz, 32GB RAM, OCZ RevoDrive R3 X2 PCI-e SSD. Installed OS is CentOS 5.8.
We have 6 workstation PCs, each equiped with 4 BlackMagic Intensity PRO capture cards and FMLE 3.2. Using these PCs we stream Live video to FMS server.
Video stream is grabbed from HDMI cable, to BlackMagic Cards, which are encoding by FMLE using H.264 format, 700kbps bitrate per stream.
Video stream is published to server through RTMP stream, which is later saved for DVR in RAW format. We only keep 3 days of recording and delete the old ones.
Server and Encoder PCs are in the same network, connected by gigabit managed switch.
The problem I'm having is that after 10-15 hours FMLE starts to drop frames, because video buffer is increased. What I observed is that this happens immediately when Server CPU load increases above 60%.
Based on the above observation I decreased the number of channels streamed by the server to 10, which reduced CPU load. But the problem still persists.
Whenever I restart FMS and delete all DVR data, the CPU load (when streaming 10 live channels) is only 1%, but after 2 days CPU load increases to 50-60%.
Whenever I restart FMS and don't delete DVR data, the CPU load is 5-10%, and after 2 days it still increases to 60-70%.
Another thing I observed is that there is only single fmscore process running, but it has lots of threads which are switched on and off in split seconds. These threads are launched on different CPU cores, but at any given point in time the distribution of the load isn't equal among CPU cores. This leads certain CPU cores being loaded by more than 60% and frame drops start to occur.
For the moment there are just 10 users watching this service, so I don't think this load accounts for the problem.
Has anybody had similar problem, or know how can I optimize or finetune the system to run without problem? I would appreciate any suggestions.
Another thing I noted through last couple of days:
When I was restarting FMS the CPU load was reduced to 30%, but after 1 week past when I restart it CPU load only goes down to 75%. Everything is the same, nothing has been changed and there is no disk IO issues involved.
    P.S. I've modified application.xml using these values:
    <Scope>vhost</Scope>
    <Distribute numprocs="5">app</Distribute>
    <LifeTime>
    <RollOver></RollOver>
    <MaxCores></MaxCores>
    </LifeTime>

    Hi
How many channels are you publishing?
If there are too many channels, it is recommended to have one  FMSCore process start for each of them. To do so, you will have to change the scope to app.
    ---snippet---
    <Application>
    <Process>
        <Scope>app</Scope>
       <Distribute numprocs="3">inst</Distribute>
    </Process>
    </Application>
Also, to delete older content, you will have to enable disk management. Refer http://help.adobe.com/en_US/flashmediaserver/devguide/WSeb6b7485f9649bf23d103e5512e08f3a33 8-8000.html#WSec225f632fa00875-23954b6f1300b641158-8000 for more info.

  • HLS Live Streaming / LivePkgr issues

    Greetings!
We just began using AMS for live streaming with HLS and we encouter some serious issues. Our first commercial live event is scheduled to next Wednesday and we cannot afford to lose our customer so your help is greatly appreciated.
We have two issues which are probably related :
When we start streaming all goes well for the first couple minutes but passed that point the stream gets less fluid. In the video player you can see a pause - dropped frames? - then the stream resumes fines. Then after say 30 seconds another pause and so on. If we stream for long enough the player finally goes black and the stream cannot be resumed.
We experience some random AMS service shutdown every other day or so. The server just stops streaming for an unkown reason. Please have a look at our edge log below. Looks like we have some recuring "bind failed" errors but I have no idea if they are related.
Again your help is greatly appreciated. On a side note we would be happy to purchase per-incident support from Adobe to solve the issue asap but it looks it's not available anymore. Anybody from the staff feel free to PM me about it.

  • Cannot get HLS Live streaming to work

I'm struggling to get things going on the HTTP live streaming side.
    I'm using FMLE 3.2 w/ Flash Media Server 4.5.
    Format: H.264
    Frame Rate: 29.97
    Bit Rate: 800Kpbs
    Profile: Main
    Leven: 3.1
    Keyframe Frequency: 4 Seconds
    I'm streaming to:
    FMS URL: rtmp://hostname/livepkgr
    STREAM: livestream?adbe-live-event=liveevent
I have verified the stream is working by connecting via flash to
    rtmp://<HOST-NAME>/livepkgr
    livestream?adbe-live-event=liveevent
I can't get the stream to play in iOs/Safari. I've been trying using the instructions via this doc (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/flashmediaserver/devguide/WSd391de4d9c7bd609-52e437a812a3725df a0-8000.html)
If I try to access the following file: http://<HOST-NAME>/hls-live/livepkgr/_definst_/liveevent/livestream.m3u8 I get FILE NOT FOUND.
Looking on the FMS machine under /opt/adobe/fms/applications/livepkgr/events/_definst_/liveevent is see no files other than Event.xml and Manifest.xml
So...it seems like no stream is being created in the livepkgr. What can I do to troubleshoot?

    #1 Fails (see below)
    I get a 404 not found.
    http://<HOST-NAME>/hls-live/livepkgr/_definst_/liveevent/Event.xml
    http://<HOST-NAME>/hls-live/livepkgr/_definst_/liveevent/readme.html (test file I created)
Sounds like the hls-live alias isn't working? Off to check Apache. That alias is supposed to be set up by default isn't it?
    #2
    Here's my  application.00.log from opt/adobe/fms/logs/_defaultVHost_\livepkgr\_definst_

  • HTTP Live Streaming Problem

    Dear iPhone Dev members.
I'm streaming live media over HTTP to iPhone 3.0 from my web server.
I read draft-pantos-http-live-streaming-01.txt and create test files.
I succeeded in the video playback a normal playlist(i.m3u8 and i-1.ts) very well.
But my iPhone could not play a encriptyed media file(j.m3u8 and j-1.ts).
Though iPhone acquires data by HTTP requests, it returns to Safari's screen at once.
    How I can resolve this?
    Thank you.

  • Lumia 720 YouTube live streaming problem

I've problem in playing live YouTube videos in Lumia 720 even im using a wifi connection..... Error : sorry, video cannot be played on your device

I am having the same problem with all three windows phone 8 devices. Videos on youtube play fine on 3G/H/H+ network status. But fails to play while connected through wifi. I have set the preference in internet explorer browser for mobile version of webpages.
On cellular network when I type youtube in bing and searched, it automatically sends me to the mobile version of youtube. I searched for videos in youtube srarch window and the results also open in mobile page format. so playing a video from there is not a problem.
Over wifi connection I searched the same on bing and as usually landed on mobile version of youtube page. Upto this everything is fine. But when i browse for videos on youtube page surprisingly it redirects me to desktop webpage format and never redirects to mobile page and in desktop version of youtube, most of the videos (almost all videos) will not play without Adobe flashplayer.
The same problem is occurring for all of my three windows mobile 8 devices.
I think this is a "nasty trick designed by youtube" to receive (steal?) information what kind of networks as well as devices people are using and behave that way, irrespective of the fact that I am using a mobile phone, they will treat me as viewing videos in a desktop computer.
Nokia and Microsoft must look into the matter seriously and should provide us a solution.

  • FMSS3 Live Streaming Problem

I developed an application which streams a live video. It works fine with FMS 3.5(developer edition) but doesnt work with FMSS3 (full version). Can any one tell me where I might have went wrong?

    Thanks Jay Charles.
I dont have any application code files. With Flash Live Media Encoder 3 I am encoding live video and am streaming it to FMSS 3. Then I have a SWF file which has only a flv playback which connects to that stream with rtmp, isLive parameter is set to true. And the same swf (only source of the flvplayback has been edited) works fine with FMS 3.5 but not with FMSS 3. Canyou tell me where I went wrong?

From where?  There are applications that allow you to view video from YouTube, ABC-TV, HBO, and many others places.

  • Creating an audio-only stream from a live stream

I am using Flash Media Live Encoder (3.2) to send multiple bitrate streams to an instance of Adobe Media Server 5. In addition to the video streams, I am trying to generate an audio-only stream.
I am using the default 'livepkgr' application. The input stream contains H.264 video + AAC audio.
The stream name that I set in FMLE is set to this:
    livestream%i?adbe-live-event=liveevent&adbe-audio-stream-name=livestream1_audio_only&adbe- audio-stream-src=livestream1
I created a variant playlist to include the audio-only stream. It looks like this:
    #EXTM3U
    #EXT-X-STREAM-INF:PROGRAM-ID=1,BANDWIDTH=150000
    /hls-live/livepkgr/_definst_/liveevent/livestream1.m3u8
    #EXT-X-STREAM-INF:PROGRAM-ID=1,BANDWIDTH=500000
    /hls-live/livepkgr/_definst_/liveevent/livestream2.m3u8
    #EXT-X-STREAM-INF:PROGRAM-ID=1,BANDWIDTH=700000
    /hls-live/livepkgr/_definst_/liveevent/livestream3.m3u8
    #EXT-X-STREAM-INF:PROGRAM-ID=1,BANDWIDTH=64000,CODECS="mp4a.40.2"
    /hls-live/livepkgr/_definst_/liveevent/livestream1_audio_only.m3u8
However, when I retrieve the audio-only playlist it contains a list of .ts files. If it was working correctly I would expect there to be a list of .aac files. Here's an extract from the playlist (livestream1_audio_only.m3u8):
    #EXTM3U
    #EXT-X-MEDIA-SEQUENCE:1927
    #EXT-X-ALLOW-CACHE:NO
    #EXT-X-VERSION:2
    #EXT-X-TARGETDURATION:8
    #EXTINF:8,
    ../../../../hls-live/streams/livepkgr/events/_definst_/liveevent/livestream1_audio_onlyNum1927.ts
    #EXTINF:8,
    ../../../../hls-live/streams/livepkgr/events/_definst_/liveevent/livestream1_audio_onlyNum1928.ts
    #EXTINF:8,
    ../../../../hls-live/streams/livepkgr/events/_definst_/liveevent/livestream1_audio_onlyNum1929.ts
    #EXTINF:8,
    ../../../../hls-live/streams/livepkgr/events/_definst_/liveevent/livestream1_audio_onlyNum1930.ts
Any ideas why it doesn't seem to be working?
    Thanks

    Hi
    No !
You first have to back-engineer the DVD to something the Mac can use eg StreamingDV
(I use Roxio Toast™ to do this) then convert this via QuickTime to .aiff 16-bit 44.1 kHz
then burn this onto a CD via eg iTunes.
An Analog copy from a DVD-player to the Mac Line-in and into an audiuo editor as Audacity (free on internet) then use this for the CD is easier and about as good as. (I can't differ)

  • My IPad cannot download live Tv from skygo. I have no problem with my lap top so I assume the broad band is okay. Can anybody suggest why the live streaming will not work on my iPad one.

My IPad cannot download live Tv from skygo. I have no problem with my lap top so I assume the broad band is okay. Can anybody suggest why the live streaming will not work on my iPad .

Are you using the Sky Go app to try and watch it ? If so are you logged in with your Sky account ?
If you are using the app then you could try closing the app completely and see if it works when you re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Sky Go 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Sky Go app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Problem relaying live stream using different urls

    Hi,
I have setup QT Broadcaster to announce a stream to my qtss.
I announced the stream to a directory live/stream.sdp
This works without a clinch when using the same URL for viewing, e.g.
    rtsp://rtsp.myqttss.com/live/stream.sdp
If I create a symlink (or simply copy the sdp file) from live/stream.sdp to test/stream.sdp and try to access the stream through
    rtsp://rtsp.myqttss.com/test/stream.sdp
it does not work anymore. QT Viewer will connect, but does not play the stream.
I am wondering why this is. Is the mountpoint relevant for accessing the stream? All neccessary information should be contained in the sdp file.
The reason I would like to do that is because we have a payment module for QTSS that will use a 'virtual' address to dispatch a stream to the client. This works perfectly for non live content.
    Thanks
    NikWest

    Ok.
    No problem now.
    Thanks.

  • Problem with live streaming video after system updates

    Dear all,
I hope you can assist me on this.
Yesterday, I downloaded the following automatic updates: iLife Support 9.0.4, Remote Desktop Client update 3.4, Mac OS X Update Combined 10.6.7, Airport Utility 5.5.2.
After that, I could NO MORE watch live streaming channels. To be precise, l can properly hear the sound, but not see the video.
I wish to underline the fact that before installing the automatic updates listed above, I had a clear sound and video of all live streaming sites.
I downloaded the latest versions of JAVA and Flash, but unfortunately they didn't solve the problem.
Therefore, I am quite sure the live streaming disfunction has to do with the system automatic updates. Is there any way to uninstall yesterday's updates without compromising the various softwares and OS performance?
What else could be if not related to the system updates?
Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks in advance.

    Stan,
I hadn't heard of gspot before.  I downloaded it and it looks like a nice, handy tool.  Thanks.
After running it, I didn't see anything that caught my eye as unusual (corrupt file, unknown codec, etc.)  I have posted a screenshot at the following URL if you care to look.
    www.cbvideo.com/gspot/gspot-out.jpg
Now, let me add to the mystery.  I was just able to burn it without incident with Encore 1.5 and the same chapter mark locations.  There are only two things I can think of that would be possible causes.  1) something quirky about CS3, even though I've not had any prior problems in two years with it for my business OR 2) the file had become corrupted when moving from the capture computer (the older computer with 1.5) to the newer computer (with CS3).  As the file seems to be okay on the 2nd computer (plays fine in WMP and imports into both Premiere and Encore), I'm leaning toward #1.
I have been able to successfully work around the problem to finish this job for the client, but I'd still like to know what's going on for future reference.  If anyone has other ideas, please let me know.

  • RTMP Live Streaming Works, HTTP HLS/HDS Streaming Doesnt

I am running Flash Media Server on my Windows 2008 R2 server, and am trying to get HTTP live streaming working. I am using Flash Media Live Encoder to stream to the server. I can get a basic RTMP stream to work without issue, however anytime I setup to stream to a basic HTTP live stream, I get the generic "We are having problems with playback. We apologize for the inconvenience." in the basic Flash Media Playback player. I can confirm the stream is being published to the server in the Admin Console using the livepkgr application successfully, and I can even get an RTMP stream to work when it is streaming to the livepkgr application.
Here are the FMLE settings I am using to publish the stream:
    Stream URL: rtmp://184.69.238.58/livepkgr
(yes, thats my IP, the stream is live continuously, test for yourself!)
    Stream Name: livestream?adbe-live-event=liveevent
my embeded html for viewing the stream is as follows:
    <object width="640" height="480"> <param name="movie" value="http://fpdownload.adobe.com/strobe/FlashMediaPlayback_101.swf"> </param> <param name="flashvars" value="src=http://<myipgoeshere>/livepkgr/liveevent/livestream.f4m"></param> <param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param> <param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param>  <embed src="http://fpdownload.adobe.com/strobe/FlashMediaPlayback_101.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="700" height="500" flashvars="src=http://<myipgoeshere>/livepkgr/liveevent/livestream.f4m">
While this gives me the error, the RTMP version (publishing to the livepkgr) works fine like this:
    <object width="640" height="480"> <param name="movie" value="http://fpdownload.adobe.com/strobe/FlashMediaPlayback_101.swf"> </param> <param name="flashvars" value="src=rtmp://<myipgoeshere>/livepkgr/livestream"> </param> <param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param> <param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param>  <embed src="http://fpdownload.adobe.com/strobe/FlashMediaPlayback_101.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="700" height="500" flashvars="src=rtmp://<myipgoeshere>/livepkgr/livestream"> </embed>  </object>
Can anyone explain to me what is happening here? I need HTTP streaming so I can eventually handle multi-bit rate streaming. Is there any further configuration beyond the standard "out of the box" FMS installation I need to consider on my server? There are no firewall issues at play here as all ports for standard streaming are open.

I had about 2 hours of downtime last night to move my server. Try again? It will be live all day.
