Why - if this is supposed to be a premium product why is it so flaky - anyone else had this issue?

My hard drive fried and had to be replaced. I'm trying to install CS4 from my original discs but keep getting this error message - "One or more of the required components of Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Standard failed to install correctly". A customer service rep gave me a link to download off the Adobe site, but when I try to open the file to run it, I get this error message - "A problem occurred extracting the archive".
Can anyone help?Yep. Nothing happens at all. Windows tries to execute the uninstaller, but I don't get any other screen and all activity stops for the MSI. I monitored it in Process Monitor and the MSI executable appears, but is quickly ended, like it couldn't find anything or something.
It's as if windows has a blank entry in Programs and Features, because it used to show the size of the Adobe application in the "Size" column. Now it's just blank. Link to screenshot below:

Note the install date. That's when I was able to successfully reinstall it. Now I can't even do that. I should also mention I tried Revo Uninstaller. It deleted one small registry key, but nothing changed.
By the way, is the CS cleaner supposed to ask for a disc in the drive when you run it? It refused to run unless I had one in it, so I used my install dvd. -
According to my network provider (Amaysim/Optus) Tethering is enabled, so why do I get this error message "to enable personal hotspot on this account, contact OPTUS"

I can not check or change any network settings (no APN settings)
I have synced phone using latest itunes (10.5.3).
Phone software is up to date (5.0.1).
Network settings have been reset.
SIM card has been taken out and put back in.
Phone has been switched off/on again.
Another sim card from virgin works ok (hotspot option is visible and can be turned on/off as required)
The Amaysim/Optus SIM card can be put into another phone (android) and tethering/hotspot works fine.
Can anyone provide solution to this nightmare?I am having the same issue although i have an iphone 5. I have contacted Live connected numerous times an tried everything imaginable to solve the issue. Is it possibly a handset issue? I cant recieve any help from optus as im with live connected, they cant help me and apple keep telling me to contact your carrier ( live connected). Seems to make me want to switch providers pretty shortly..

why am I getting this error message when I try to open a PDF file? Adobe Reader could not open 'SBA 413.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).
It's difficult for anyone to say how to fix it. Try getting a new copy of it. Did you download it from a web site, as an email attachment, or something else?
I donwloaded that form from the SBA web site and it worked fine for me. It is an XFA form created in LiveCycle Designer, but those should work fine with the desktop versions of Adobe Reader. So try downloading it: http://www.sba.gov/sites/default/files/SBA%20413_0.pdf -

- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?

- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.

With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.

This error message recently started popping up periodically on web pages that seem to have graphics or photos. There have been recent Adobe updates, but I can't verify which ones and whether they are the issue. On the other hand a recent Firefox update 7.0.1 indicated it was incompatible with a number of plug-ins? Could that be the source. Incidentally after I receive the message: it comes on twice, I am returned to a previous screen without further problem.

I am getting the following message when I try to open a photo in Preview. I have searched for possible solutions and nothing works for me. I have always used Preview to edit photos.
Repairing the permissions of a home folder in Lion is a complicated procedure. I don’t know of a simpler one that always works.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the page that opens.
Drag or copy — do not type — the following line into the Terminal window, then press return:
chmod -R -N ~
The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. When a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) appears below what you entered, it’s done. You may see a few error messages about an “invalid argument” while the command is running. You can ignore those. If you get an error message with the words “Permission denied,” enter this:
sudo !!
You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up.

Why am i getting this error message? I don't get it
i wrote a program to read lines of date in a text file, grab certain data from the different lines of data (records) and write that data out to a new line in a new file. I have successfully compiled the program, but when I am trying to test it, i get this error an I have no clue what the problem is.

Please HELPoh wow you are really picking at me. ;-) See I had someone helping me with this, that says he has many years of experience, and i do appreciate his help but i think i am finding that he may be stuck in his ways with the older versions of java or whatever, i am finding this out with a lot of things that we covered, but had the wrong explanation for it, this is one of them, that's why i was trying to skip that line, but in actuality it is not even reading the header fline in the file and I didn't even have to skip it. i stumbled on that just a bit ago, right after reading your responses to mine and a few other questions. I will get better and this, then I can do what you do! ;-)

I didn't install and did not want to install anything!You can not download items from the internet with an ipad, you can download from the app store or from itunes or some cloud services (dropbox) but not from browsers, there is an Iphone app for we transfer in the app store that appears that it can be used on an ipad as well.

I downloaded and installed firefox 10.0.2 but when I...
1. click the desktop icon nothing happens.
2. use terminal mode and type firefox I get the following error message:
/opt/firefox/run-mozilla.sh: 399: /opt/firefox/firefox-bin: not found
How do I fix this?In short, I used kpackagekit to uninstall firefox. Then used synaptic to uninstall firefox. After that I manually scanned the computer for residual DIRs. In the end, I noticed that I still had 3 DIRs containing firefox: /opt/firefox, /usr/lib/firefox-10.0.1, /usr/lib64/firefox-10.0.1
So removing firefox didn't work as expected.
As it turns out, the copy of firefox residing in /opt/firefox is v3.5.3, but I have a current version in /usr/lib and /usrlib64. For some reason the, new install didn't replace the copy in /opt/firefox and the /usr/bin scripts firefox and run-mozilla.sh point to /opt/firefox.
So when I use terminal mode and type firefox I get the cited error message. When I use my desktop icon it hangs.
My remedy for this was to due the following:
1. track down the location of the desktop icon: /usr/share/applications/firefox.desktop
2. edit the file: sudo pico /usr/share/applications/firefox.desktop
3. modify entry to: EXEC=/usr/lib/firefox-10.0.1 /firefox.sh u% ( save and exit)
4. modify terminal command: firefox
5. track down the location of the firefox command: /usr/bin/firefox and /usr/bin/
firefox.ubuntu
6. remove symbolic link: rm /usr/bin/firefox
7. remove symbolic link: rm /usr/bin/firefox
8. create new symbolic link: ln -sT /usr/lib/firefox-10.0.1/firefox.sh firefox
9. create new symbolic link: ln -sT /usr/lib/firefox-10.0.1/firefox.sh firefox.ubuntu
Everything works now as it should.
I believe the cause of this problem was related to the fact that the mozilla-team made a change to the location of their upgrade/update libraries which affected the entries in the file: /etc/apt/sources.list. When the ppa library location changed, my kubuntu version 10.04 didn't make this change and residual copies of firefox were left behind and DIRs /usr/bin and /opt/firefox were not modified.
Perhaps my experience will help others that tread this path.
Maybe somebody can explain to me why we need 3 DIRs for firefox: /opt/fire ; /usr/lib ; /usr/lib64 -

Here is what I have done so far I have repaired my Measurement and Automation Explorer, repaired NI-488.2 2.4, repaired NI-VISA 4.3. Also I have noticed everytime I disconnect and reconnect my GPIB-USB-HS my computer acts like it has never seen it before and treats it as a new device...is this a related problem to what I am seeing above. My current software versions are LabVIEW 7.1, Automation Explorer 4.4, NI-VISA 4.3, and NI-488.2 2.40. What is the problem here I need this to interface a Aeroflex unit.
Also what installs the Instrument I/O assistant functionality is it the NI-488 drivers? I really need to figure this out.

What version of DAQmx are you using? You tried repairing most of your other drivers but didn't say anything about DAQmx. DAQmx is on your LabVIEW Driver CD but that will most likely be a pretty old version. You might want to upgrade that to at least 8.5, but LabVIEW 7.1 is compatable with the latest DAQmx driver which is 8.8. You can download a new version at our website at the drivers and updates link. Just search for DAQmx and select the one you want to download.
