HND not even installed and still ruining my day
I installed the EasyLink router configuration software with my new WRT160N router. I chose not to install the Home Network Defender.
In the EasyLink software, there is a page to configure HND. If I go to that page, it prompts me to install the 30 day free trial. I have no intention of installing the HND software, trial version or otherwise. If I do not install it, this screen will not let me adjust any of the settings.
I have, in fact, uninstalled the EasyLink software. I can reinstall it if necessary, though I'd rather not. It's useless.
And yet, when I try to visit an online comic, I get the a Home Network Defender page with the message: The parental controls block websites in this category: Mature Content
It asks me for a password to turn it off, but I don't even *have* a password because I NEVER SIGNED UP. Not to mention that the longest it will let me turn it off is 30 minutes. Where is the option to turn it off permanently?
In addition to blocking websites, it is drastically slowing down my internet. I cannot play online games with this garbage eating away at my system. How do I get rid of all the software that was installed to my computer when I installed this router, entirely and permanently?
Not to mention that my latency had been at a stable 150-300 ms for more than a month prior to getting this router, and after installing the software that came with it my latency is now at a "stable" 700-1400 ms - even after uninstalling the LELA software, and even when don't use the router and instead plug my computer directly into the modem.
So I would REALLY like to know how to remove it. I can't work like this.

Just bought my white iphone4 and after syncing with my computer the speaker doesn't work now. I tried reset and even restore and still does not work. Do I have to exchange?
Make sure the silent switch is not set to mute. If you can see the red dot, it is on mute.
It may think you have headphones plugged in, try plugging and unplugging a wired headset a few time.
The next step would be to restore as new.
If none of that works, a warranty exchange would be the resolution. -
I restored to factory settings and when it says to hook up to I tunes it still won't work. I have restarted I tunes and uninstalled and installed and still not working. Help!!!! Before I reset it it would say not charging but it was still charging. This could be a hardware problem with the I pad.
Explain exactly what "it won't work" means. The iPad does not respond at all? Does it turnn on? It is not recognized in iTunes when you connect it to your computer?

two things to be looked upon in this case. First thing is about the battery. Once the battery has enough charge in it we can try a force restore on the phone to re-install the iOS.

When did Apple turn into piece of ****? It prompted me to update itunes and install icloud. I did. It crashed saying it was not properly installed and reinstall it. Since then I have been trying. I worry if my thousands of dollars worth of music is lost
I had a very similar problem, error 4251. (look in your log you will see that error) Since I finally fixed my problem, I thought I would see if I can help someone else.
What I found is that I lost burn ability in both iTunes AND Windows. Like you did. I did some digging and found that this wasn't hardware related at all. In fact, this boils down to a registry key getting messed up. (sigh) Yeah. It causes the system to get a bad 'handle'.
OK, here's what to try. Go to this Microsoft KB article. Scroll down and find the *manual* instructions for Vista. Delete the registry key that it specifies. Reboot. Now verify that you can burn in Windows. (If you have a RW disc, do a disc erase, or just try and burn from Windows Media Player.) If that is working now, you're on the right track.
Now the issue is that iTunes will still be broken. Go and install the latest Gear driver. (I know you may have done it, but do it again.) Now follow the intructions in this Apple KB article to verify the "GEARAspiWDM" info is back there in the registry. Now reboot. Try and burn in iTunes.

I tried the manual method. I was able to set the music/video to manual and then restarted the entire system. After restart, I re-attached the ipod touch to the computer. The sync automatically ran for everything that wasn't set to manual and it completed without a problem. I then reset the music/video to automatically sync and restarted the entire coputer/ipod set again. This time when I re-attached the ipod, EVERYTHING synced and there were no problems reported. I've never had to do this before, but I will keep it in mind if something like this happens again. Thank you for pointing me to the manual sync. -
I've bought a student plan but every time I open currently downloaded programms I see an automatically opened window that says I'm using trial version and still have several days to use it. My iMac = Desktop 20", 2GHz processor, 4 GB memory, running OS 10.10.1
I am tring to upgrade my iPhoto and when I follow Apple's instructions on how to do so, the download seems to occur, I click on the upgrade package and nothing changes.
I have restarted the computer after the download and still no change.

Acrobat v10x CS6 Installation: "Some items could not be installed and then Error 1301
Brand new MacBook Pro Retina 16GB, 512SSD, Mountain Lion.
I successfully installed all apps in CS6 Web and Design Premium EXCEPT... I had a warning on Acrobat install: "Some items could not be installed properly".
However, Acrobat 10.0.0 launches and runs fine. Then, I try to move on and upgrade to 10.1.4 (or even 10.0.1) and no matter whether I uninstall and reinstall, repair disk permissions, talk to Adobe support for four times now and let them try everything, I'm still getting Error 1301 "The update could not be applied because Adobe Acrobat application contents were modified since the original installation. I had them send me a hard copy of the CS6 Suite and reinstalled the entire suite. Again, ALL other apps run and upgrade perfectly EXCEPT Acrobat.
Now, support tells me to use the "Run Repair Acrobat Installation to replace missing files." from this advisory and call them back later (file:///Users/mbp/Desktop/extras/maccomputers/Errors%20and%20freezes%20%7C%20Adobe%20Rea der%20%7C%20Mac%20OS.webarchive).
Here's the latest hitch: There is no such: "Repair Acrobat Installation". I'm thinking they think there is and there isn't.

Thanks for the advice. Tried this and does not work. Exact same results. I really wonder if I am the only person with a MacBook Pro Retina with an 512GB SSD running Mountain Lion that has tried to install Acrobat 10.0.0. I think there is some conflict with Mac OS 10.8.2 that is hostile to the installation sequence Adobe created for Acrobat. I fear Adobe would rather I upgrade to Acrobat X1 than spend their time patching this.

After the update of my 13 in mac book pro (early to mid 2011) , it freezes every 30 seconds with the spinning wheel and now it just freezes. Ive never had this problem until I recently updated. Also, I just checked now for available update ( which there was one), the update would process till the last step and it shows it cannot be expanded? Now my computer wont even restart (just have a grey screen with a cursor). Can someone please tell me what the heck is going on with my computer?
I also checked the memory and it showed available memory was over 1.5 GB. I dont have any programms installed and do not have backup yet ( dont really need it anyways)
Problems: first with spinning wheel every 30 seconds and now whole computer just freezes when I restart, it only shows grey screen after the starting sound or it takes about 8 to 10 minutes to restart.
This ALL happened right after the update with google chrome crashing. I know my apple care plan expired so I cant even go to genius bar. Do you guys know how much it would cost to get it fixed ? Or any recommendations I can do to fix this?Try a smc reset:

My Line has not been installed and I want to cance...

I originally placed my order with BT for a phone line and broadband back in December for it to be activated in January. To cut a long story short I have been told countless different things from BT and from openreach about when my line will be installed and I've got to the point where I don't want to be with BT anymore.
I want to cancel with BT as it its 2 months later and I still no closer to internet or a phone line, will BT attempt to charge me if i cancel? I can't see how they can seeing as they have not fufilled their promises and have done nothing for my property.
