Ho do I make a sound setting?

How to I create a sound setting on my Iphone 6 so that there is no noise if an email comes in ... but there is a ring if a phone call comes in?
Thanks

Modify it from settings like so
settings - sounds - new mail -  alert tone - none

I have had this same problem for weeks now with my 4S.  I just got a new 5S after being extremely frustrated and the same thing - no sounds.  After searching posts all over, I couldn't find a solution. I just told my friend of the issue and he asked "Do you have the Do Not Distrub on?"  I didn't even know such a function existed.  Upon looking that was exactly the issue.
To resolve, go to Settings> Do Not Disturb> Manual.  If it is green, turn it off.  You will now get phone calls and text alerts.
This functionality is also on your quick access utility menu (slide up menu).  I assume this is how it was enabled on my phone.
I will post on other sites since I searched for weeks for this solution and didn't see it anywhere.  Good luck!

  • Since the iOS 7 update, some apps no longer have sound, even of configured to do so. Example, no longer does my FaceTime ring even if I have a tone set; my email app doesn't make a sound when email comes in or goes out. Help!

Ever since I updated to ios7, sounds from specific apps has disappeared, even if configured correctly to make sounds. My mail doesn't sound off anymore when mail comes in or goes out. My FaceTime no longer rings when someone calls me. My map app no longer gives me voice instructions like it did before. If someone messages me I do not hear sounds anymore. I find it very annoying especially because I have family abroad and FaceTime is an important means of communication. I reset it by pressing the sleep and home button and all, nothing happened.
Can someone help understand how to resolve this problem.
    Thank you so very much.

    (A) Reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
    (B) Make sure sound is not muted in Control Center; tap on the little bell. Swipe upwards from bottom of screen to launch Control Center

  • IPad Air alarm makes no sound

We set an alarm at 4:30AM for a flight. The alarm made no sound and we slept late. It seems none of the ringtones make any sound but only show the alarm message on the lock screen. I have verified that the sound was set to full volume. The alerts setting page also does not make any sound when tapping on an alert tone for a preview.

I had no alarm sound on my ipad (os7) and tried several of the suggestions here. Problem was several things conspiring to confuse.
First, the mute bell on the alarm is independent of the ipad volume control, so it can be (and was) muted when the ipad was at full volume. Look carefully at what the prompt with the bell icon says when you touch it . . . It is muted when grayed out, not when bold . . . Confusing BC both cases show a hashed (muted?) bell symbol.
Once I figured this out, I discovered that the alarm sounds and volume are controlled via the SETTINGS app.  It was set to zero volume. To confuse further, this volume can be linked to the ipad volume control (or not) with a switch below the volume slider. If you choose to link to your volume control, then all bets are off since you won't remember whether you last muted your YouTube/iTunes/whatever before going to sleep. In plain language, don't choose to link alarm volume with ipad volume.
I think this explains some complaints about "random" instances of no alarm sound. They are probably self-inflicted and inadvertent.

  • How to make it sound as if it is in the next room.

I am new to the audio editing/mixing.
I am curious how to make dialog sound as if it is happening in the next room.
I vaguely remember a setting that was doing something like it and it was actually called similarly (In the next room), but now I can't find it.
If it doesn't exist and it was one of those borscht induced nightmares, how one would approach this anyway?
    Thanks a lot in advance.

In the effects rack, there are several "room" settings you can apply, and tweak the parameters to make it sound as if it's in the same room or next door.

Setting up your phone "as new iphone" is covered in this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137
Before you connect to a new PC, make sure that autosync is disabled in Edit/Preferences/Devices, otherwise your phone will be wiped during the following sync.
If you have data on the phone you want to save, back up manually:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your phone without syncing. Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards. Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the phone for the first time.
Since changing your iTunes library will erase your phone again, do the same process when you change back to your normal PC.

  • Vienna Sound Sets

Looking to get into some of these sounds sets. Any advice on with ones to purchase (Pro, Extended) as a start? I will use them in some Hip Hop production and maybe some movie scoring.
    PowerMac G5 2.3 DP   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   Logic 7.2.1 | RME Fireface 800 | PT 7 | API 7600 | GT66 mic

Are you talking about the EXS formatted ones, or the newer plug-in instruments they make?
The new plug-ins offer a sick amount of "real-time" control over articulations, so you can load one preset, and pretty much have access to all articulations under one instrument.
Whereas you'd need to load up multiple EXS's to access the same amount of samples, even with key switched sets.
But either format will get the job done.
With the AI's you can start with the standard sets, and later purchase the extended sets if you want. The cool thing is, when you buy the standard set, you get to audition the extended set for about a month, so if you end up wanting it, you can just purchase the license, and be off and running.
As to what to buy, that's such a subjective and personal thing, based on your needs, etc... But I would think based on the styles of music you mentioned, any of the string sets would be good, particularly Chamber Strings, which are samples of smaller string sections, like you're more apt to hear in pop, rock, or R&B.

Since I downloaded the newest update, my phone only rings or makes text sounds about 10% of the time. It can be sitting in front of me and a call or text comes in. No sound, just a msg on the screen. Anyone out there having that problem?  It's not a problem in the settings as I set the rings and tones I want. The rare one comes thru with sound. I never had any problems before update.

No, sounds like when you dropped it an cracked the screen it may have also damaged the logic board or the repair person damaged a cable.

  • On my Facebook app, when I get a notification my iPhone 5 and my iPod touch 4 doesn't make a sound. Help???

Hey guys! I really need help! Ever since I got my iPod touch 4, my Facebook app will not make sounds for notifications. I now have an iPhone 5 and it does the same. I have the sound set to on as well as vibrate but the ringtone I set only plays when I post something via notification center.  It lights up and blinks(led flash for alerts) but not a sound. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I have the same problem since I updated to iOS 7.0.3. and althought all my notifications are turned on to view on lock screen, I don't get any push message notifications. Previously with iOS 7.0.2, I got push message notifications from news apps, gmail, viber, whatsapp, hangouts,... so I re-installed the backup with iOS 7.0.2.
Since several months, I see the same problem recurring for a lot of people with the older iPhones 4, but it seems like Apple Support doesn't care. None of the help requests are reliably answered.
Today I called Apple Support, but as my Iphone is "old", they can't provide me an answer unless I pay for it. They also told me that the problem is app related and not system related but I don't see it that way. Why is everything working well in iOS 7.0.2 and not in iOS 7.0.3?
Kayler2, I suggest that you re-install the backup with iOS 7.0.2. and you will again be able to get notifications.
I sincerely hope that someone has a better solution for this problem, but for now, it's the best we can do.

  • Is it possible to have a word make a sound on webpage

This is my first time using iweb. I know nothing about creating webpages, so this might not make sense.
Basically, what I want to do is this.
Have a page where I can put words and when you click on the word it makes a sound. I've been using Audacity to make podcasts (save the audio to desktop and drag on podcast 'square').
Also, is there any way I can change the backgrounds? Or are they just set templates?
Sorry if this makes no sense. It's my first time, and I'm not very experienced with computers, and I'm quite close to a breakdown. Please help!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Can't help you with the first question but for the second you can change the background by using theInspector/Page/Layout pane. You can select a solid color for both the browser and page backgrounds or use a image file. It would start with a plain template if you are planning to make significant changes. Also using images for backgrounds can cause pages to load more slowly.

  • First incoming email makes a sound, subsequent ones don't

    hi,
i've found quite a few postings about os x mail not notifying on new emails. i have not seen anyone mention these symptoms though; when i launch mail for the first time and the fist mail comes in, i get a sound notification. no subsequent ones make a sound. i can reproduce this over and over with 100% consistency.
another interesting note is that if i go to the system preferences and change any sound preferences i get exactly the same behavior: one new email sound notification and no subsequent ones.
i only have one account (gmail) and it is IMAP. i have tried un-checking the Idle command and it does not work.
it is obvious that a process somewhere is hanging or dying after the first sound notification. the question is why and why doesn't apple fix this?

    Hi bensenise,
I know the problem, too. And I think many Mac OS 10.5/10.6 Users do know as well.
It's a bug that has been there since the first release of 10.5. It occurs when you use an IMAP Mail Account in Mail.app (e.g. MobileMe or GMail). MobileMe and GMail both use push service to forward new messages to your device. Therefor the Mail.app uses the IMAP IDLE command to discover a new message - that's the case by default. The first new mail alert is played. But if you leave Mail.app opened the following alerts won't be played. The alert is only played when Mail.app uses the periodic polling to discover a new message.
The solution is to turn off the IDLE command, and make the polling interval shorter. In Mail, open Preferences and go to Accounts » Advanced in all your mail accounts and turn off the "Use IDLE command" feature. Next, go to the General section of Preferences, and set "Check for New Mail to Every minute" - you can set a longer interval if you want, so long as you don't set it to Manual.
Now your mail alerts should play for every incoming message, but you will see your messages up to one minute later than you would with the IDLE mechanism or on iPhone/iPad (e.g. with push/automatic syncing activated).
It's a pity that Apple did not find a solution for the bug by today. And if you want push forwarding for Mails on your Mac, this is not a satisfying solution.

  • IPhone 3G that makes no sound.

So I bought an IPhone yesterday. I had bought one for my mom when it was already launched and was pretty impressed with the performance. It still works without any flaws. But the one I bought yesterday has one unique ability - It makes no sound from the speaker.
I did some research on it to know that I must plug and unplug the earphone a few times for the speaker to work.It didnt.
Somewhere they also mentioned that I should reset the phone with the home button pressed along with sleep button. It didnt work.
Now I have no clue what to do but to take it back to Airtel(the place i bought it) which is the authorized dealer for Iphones. If they tell me it has to be shipped to the service center(in another city) for repairs I am screwed. I hope she replaces it on the spot. Any Advice? There is no service center in the city i stay in.
I think she should replace it because
1> i paid for a new phone and not a repaired one.
2> I am returning it back in less than 24hrs.

Update - The restore option as well upgrading to the most up to date firmware has not helped the speaker is simply dead and I think this is hardware related.
I called up the Airtel store where i purchased this from and the cust rep told me that she would have to send the phone to Bangalore(another city) where the apple service center is and they would send a replacement handset.
What concerns me most is that she mentioned that all the other contents of the box would remain the same and that only the phone itself would be replaced.I am beginning to think that this may be a refurbished handset. If it is then I am being outright cheated as did not pay the price of a refurbed phone but a new one.
Is there anyways i can crosscheck or confirm that the set will be a new one?I think i should have just refrained from buying one instead of putting myself through all this crap and being without a phone for a week.

  • How do I make my ipad make a sound when it is misplaced?

How do I make my ipad make a sound when it is misplaced?

    http://www.apple.com/iphone/built-in-apps/find-my-iphone.html
    Display a message or play
a sound to help you find it.
Say you’ve just used Find My iPhone, and it turns out you left your iPhone at the doctor’s office. You can write a message and display it on your screen. Something like, “Oops, left my iPhone behind. Please call me at 408-555-0198.” Your message appears, even if the screen is locked. And if the map shows that your iPhone is nearby — perhaps in your office under a pile of papers — yet you still can’t find it, you can tell Find My iPhone to play a sound that overrides the volume or silent setting.
