Ho to reinstall the OS on Satellite 1900 with Recovery CD

My computer has become very slow and I wish to reformat the hard drive and re install the operating system. I have the Product recovery CD-ROM and the Tools and Utilities CD-ROM. Are these the discs all I require to do this operation.
I am also worried that on non of the discs is the Microsoft Windows key reference number to install windows. Where can I get this serial number from?
I bought the machine new.

If you use delivered recovery installations CD you dont need any registrations number like after usage of Microsoft full version installations CD.
Install it and be happy. In 20 minutes only the notebook will perfectly configured.
Back to your second question: Satellite 1900 is pretty older notebook model and at this time SP2 was not available. That means you must install it alone. After installing OS install SP2 immediately and before you start to use it start Windows update option in Internet Explorer.
I have had Satellite 1900-703 over two years and I have never had any problems. SP2 installation was simply and I havent notice any problems with any kind of update.
By the way: this unit has small cooling fan at the bottom side. I recommend you to check it from time to time and be sure there is no dust.

My hard drive crashed, and I cannot reinstall the original OS that came with my macbook pro?

I bought my macbook pro (mid 2012 version) 10 months ago and it's been working fine up until now (running on Yosemite). When I opened the lid today, a flashing question mark appeared on the screen. Can I recover only C Drive on Satellite A300 with recovery disk?

I'm new in the new type of slipstreaming Windows. I was familiar with the old one with Norton ghost. It was easy for me, but I have a problem with the new one. I want to recover only C drive on my laptop with a different size than the factory size.
I want to delete the first partition and rearrange others because I want bigger partition for my data and small Partition for my system. Can I boot program with CD then insert Toshiba recovery disk and use the Vista image on recovery DVDs to recover only C drive?

Almost all the last night I tried to make a bootable CD from the EISA configuration partition because the only way to recover only C drive is to boot from there. At the last I did it, but now i'm not sure that disk will work when I erase the EISA partition and Image files from the data partition and burn them on a DVD. Now I'm wondering how to contact with the Toshiba engeneers to ask them.

How to make Vista partition on the HDD as first one with Recovery CD

i want to format and recover the information to my "Vista" (C://) partition, which is the first. But when i choose the option "Format and recover to an existing first partition on your hard disk(without RE)" the computer began to recover to "Partition Type: windows NT NTFS (ID: 07)" which size is only 1.50 GB.
In the middle of the process it shows "not enough space on a disk"
Question: how to make "vista" partition the first one? What is "the first partition" in the second option of formating and recovering the system?

You can obtain from your friends (I am sure someone has it) Microsoft WXP installations CD and install OS on C partition. On Toshiba download page you will find chipset and all necessary drivers to make WXP running properly. When finished connect external HDD or USB memory stick and copy all your data there. you can also install Nero demo version and create data CD or DVD. It is lot of work but if you have time you can do this without any problems.
Other way connect your HDD as external one to other PC and copy all your important data. Sorry but I do not see other solution.

I want to reinstall the operating system on my 6 yr old IMAC to Lion

My 6 year old Imac is slowing down and I want to reinstall the OS. It came with Leopard, upgraded to Snow Leopard, then to Lion. I have the Snow Leopard upgrade disk but Lion was upgraded through the APP store and I do not see Lion listed as available now in the store. Can I get the reinstall back to my current state of Lion v 10.7.5? Thank you.

When Software Update says I have apps to update, it will not let ne update the ones that came installed with my macbook air, OS 10.8.2. App stare says to login as the user who originally purchased, yet I am logged in as that user. Have tried loggin out and back in but that does not work. Any ideas?

Satellite 1900-303: Can I upgrade the Hard Drive up to 120GB

I've a S1900-303 and I'm thinking of upping the Hard Drive to 120gb. What problems, if any, will I encounter and can I do it froom the Toshiba boot disk or should I just install XP from a XP disk?

As far as I can remember the Satellite 1900-303 was delivered with the 30GB HDD.
So in my opinion the 120GB HDD size is a little bit too big and I presume the notebook BIOS will not recognize this HDD!!!
I think you can use a 40GB, 60GB and maybe a 80GB HDD.
PS: you should search for the HDD with the enhanced IDE (ATA-5) interface!!!

I do not agree as customer support is good, its good... but idiot thing is we buyed the laptop from Toshiba, which is money minded,...if toshiba knows that after customer system drive is corrupted /erased accidently then no chance of getting the paid version of OS restoring...
1. then why dont toshiba provided already a recovery CD before only..
or
2. they should have informed as pre-condition/pre-caution that if Hard Drive got erased then Toshiba cannot provide the product ID also which a customer is paying.
i think toshiba should should value the customers money also & should keep inform the customers unwanted loss with pruchasing toshiba... as I would have atleast prepared the Backup-restor CD if i was warned after purchasing....atleast..
As if i can purchase this laptop, then i can pruchase a CD also write & create a backup CD,,,, but as a customer will be unaware of these internal problemss... he will be facing this type of problems....

Problem with cd/dvd drive on my Satellite 1900-303

I bought a Satellite 1900-303 in 2003. Recently, it's cd/Dvd drive stopped to work properly. whenever I put a Cd in the driver it assumes that the CD is a audio cd. if the CD is completly Audio cd or partly contained audio files it opens the cd without any problem. but if cd is data CD or software CD after trying along time my system hangs up. I change the settings of the properites of Cd drive in Autoplay section from Music file to other options such as "mixed content". but after inserting CD into the drivers it agains changes automaticaly to the "music file". I showed my notebook an expert in computer system and facility, he tried to reinstall windows XP to solve the problem but it didn't work. Since the driver was not working he used external driver to install windows XP. but the problem has not been solved.
Is there anybody who knows by accident what I should do to recover it?

did your friend installed the XP from a MS Cd or from the Toshiba recovery CD?
At my Toshiba notebook the autoplay section is also setted to Music file and works properly!
When did this failure occured for the first time? Did you used the MS System recovery option at Start - Accessories - system prog. - System recovery
Perhaps the backsetting of your system solve the problem!
You can also check if a firmware update is available for your drive! (If it is a Toshiba drive go to http://www.toshiba-europe.com/storage/index.asp?nav=HOM&page=HOM&frame=home

CD drive on my Satellite 1900 laptop doesn`t functioning

i have got a satellite 1900 laptop. Now my CD Drive is not working as it does not detect the CD in the drive.I tried uninstalling the hardware and reinstalling it with no help.Any ideas/suggestions please?

Possibly, that the drive is dead and you need a new one.

Satellite 1900 (PS192E) - Doesn't recognize any CD/DVD

I have just bought a Toshiba Satellite 1900 (PS192E) and put an old 20GB HDD into it from an old laptop.
When I boot up, the display is in VGA 16 colour mode, it recognises the DVD drive but doesn't recognise any CD/DVD when inserted. I have tried to install and run Toshibas "driver robot" utility but the display is such that I can't see the whole screen to start the scan.
If there is anyone out there that could give me some guidance I'd be hugely appreciative.

Maybe the drive is faulty, or the lens is dirty.
Can you boot from bootable CD's? If yes, then Windows may have the incorrect filters.
Try removing the CD/DVD Filters from the Registry.
When CD/DVD related software is installed (such as iTunes, Nero, virtual CD software), they install filters into the registry, which can cause compatibility problems.
1) Run Regedit (Start -> Run -> Regedit)
2) Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
3) In the right pane, delete the "UpperFilters" key, and delete the "LowerFilters" key.
4) Reboot.
If your CD/DVD programs stop working, you will need to reinstall them (preferably with an updated version).

Satellite 1900-102: Power Management Utility won't install in XP SP2

Hi,
Wondering if anyone has came across thi problem before:
I had to uninstall the Toshiba power management utility (version 1.3 for Satellite 1900-102 running XP SP2). When I tried to re-install the setup launches and I get a message box saying "Invalid Handle" followed by the error "You cannot install this version of toshiba power management utility to your system" and the setup aborts.
Any help is appreciated.

As far as I know on the Toshiba website are to drivers. One for Win2k and one for WinXp.
Did you try to install the right driver?

Satellite 1900-303: Is memory slot 2 configurable?

I have a satellite 1900-303 and I ask someone to tell me please if the expansion memory slot 2 is configurable. If it is, what for? To share video memory?
I have seen on one site that is configurable, but on users manual is not mentioned that and I need to be sure before to buy another memory module.

This unit has a ATI MOBILITY RADEON with 32 MB video ram and like Barrie said its not a shared memory graphic card. In this case the memory upgrade doesnt increase this graphic video memory size. But of course the bigger memory size increases the notebook performance.

Power suddenly off on Satellite 1900-303

Satellite 1900-303 but still working for surfing, the fan never stops and makes so much noisy, not nice! Problem even worse is that the power will be suddenly off without any notice. This could be caused by the overheating power supply system and it is kind of self-protection, could anyone tell me how to fix this and if it is worth to do so?

I agree with MrPacman.
I dont think that the notebook loses the power.
There is another reason why the notebook shuts down automatically.
The clogged cooling grilles could lead to a higher temperature inside the notebook and to an overheating issue.
This is the reason also why the cooling fans are running all the time.
What you could do is to clean the ventilators using a professional compressed air spray.
Such sprays are designed to perform such cleaning and to get rid of dust and debris from notebook inside
