Hold On To Events

Hi....
I’d like to know if you need to keep you “event” footage all the way up to when you export your project from the library?
And if you didn’t keep the event footage would importing it back “revitalize” the project?
Any suggestions, comments and opinions will be greatly appreciated...

imagine a Project as just a tiny list of 'links' to Events.. (or parts of it...)
if you erase the Events, those links lead to.. nothing = Project 'broken'.
Even reimporting the Events wouldn't fix it, 'cause these Events are 'new' ones.. even with similiar content.
If you run into disk space issues, harddrives are cheap nowadays.. connect the new external drive, format to hfs/MacOsExtended (Disk Utility on your Mac) and drag WITHIN iM08 the Events to new location.. Project Library (and Events) on External Harddrive
Disconnecting this drive will again make iM08 complain 'Project broken', but re-connecting the drive will 'fix' that..

Agreement issue for Event based Billing

Hi,
We are on R12.0.6 and using Project Billing (not using Project Costing)
For the monthly reimbursements approved by our customer, we create project & task based events, enter total amounts in revenue and billing fields. We use Event types in AA rules to record revenue in different account codes.
Customer issues quarterly POs for this purpose. So there are multiple POs against single Project & Task.
For the revenue accrued and billing done in the past, if we need to make adjustments, is there a functionality available similar to that of expenditure item? e.g. split, transfer etc so that linkage with originally billed item will be maintained?
If there is no such functionality, then we will have to enter negative events. In that case, how do we ensure that correct agreement will get picked (same as that of the original revenue-invoice)? Also, since rules for revenue and invoicing are different, we will not have control on whether same agreement will get picked for negative revenue and credit memo.

Controling the agreement that will be used is a new feature Oracle presented with R12.1.1.
You might want to look at upgrade.
On your corrent release, the solution is more complex (however, it works for us).
A) Add a flexfield on the event form, so user may enter the agreement number for any new event.
B) When running the GDR / GDI processes, users should enter the agreement number as a parameter.
C) Develop a billing extension called on pre-processing of GDR/GDI. That extension reads the agreement number on the parameter, and then go on and put all existing events of the project on hold, but those events with the sameagreement number on their dff. The same billing extension is also updating the customer on all agreements which are not the selected agreement. Upodate to a dummy customer which is not one of the project customers.
D) Develop a billing extension called on post-process of GDR/GDI. That extension remove the hold from all events, and also update back the customer on all agreements from the dummy customer to the real project customer.

Multiple triggring events - How can you identify which one started the wf?

Hi all,
I would like to know if there is a way of identifying which triggering event started the wf.
The situation is like this: i have a workflow that can be started by one of 6 triggering events (6 different situations for vendor master data - creation needed, extension needed, change needed and so on). I have to do different steps inside the workflow function of which event actually triggered the wf.
Is there a container element that gets some sort of identification for the event that actually triggered the wf?
I found a container element that holds the name of the event but it's a multiline container element (so i guess it holds all the event names) and i can't use it in a multiple condition.

for those events, you can add want you want as abap dictionary
it doesn't matter, just look in SE11, where you can find any kind of data element of type char1 and use that one.
Those events, are those standard events or events that you trigger yourself with the function SWE_EVENT_CREATE?

Generate dynamic event of producer loop in multiple consumer loop

I have one producer loop which used event case to interface with FP controls and 5 consumer loops
If I have to use the fifth consumer loop to generate dynamic event which send to event case in produer loop.
I have to wire register event with dynamic event terminal in producer loop . Also I need to wire user event to consumer loop (at the bottom of screen window) which is far away from producer loop. It is hard to wire them.
Is there any other method to let many consumer loop to communicate with one producer loop through dynamic event (the same user event)?

I like to use an Action Engine to hold control my Event Reference. Then anybody can send the event commands.

Translating Visual Basic Events into Java Events

I'm in the process of porting a Visual Basic application to Java. Now, most of it is pretty straight forward, since good OO practice is evident in the original VB source. With a good dose of refactoring along the way the Java version is looking pretty good too.
However, I'm having a problem with events. Here's a snuppet of one of a VB class that generates events and one that uses it:

There are few main things involved in a Java event delivery
1. The event source
2. The event listener
3. The even data
4. Registration
5. The event delivery process
I don't know the VB syntax, but any way it gives a good idea of what you wish to achieve.
Here the Invoice class is basically the event source. And the OrderBook class is the event listener. To proceed further you will have to specify (define) the event listener first. Secondly you will have to create an event object which contains the data to be delvered via the event.

Problem with published cal:repeating event Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun every 3 weeks

I have an event that repeats thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday every three weeks. I can set it up by changing my week to start on Monday. It is correct in iCal and on me.com.
Subscribers to the calendar however see the calendar wrong. They see a repeating event every Sunday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
So for this week I see the event on 7/15, 7/16, 7/17, 7/18/10.
But subscribers see it on 7/11, 7/15, 7/16, 7/17/10. So Sunday is always wrong.
Any idea how to fix this? It used to work prior to either 10.6.4 or iOS 4 or iPhone 4 screwed up my calendars. I’ve restored them but this is the only thing still broken.

Updates do not inherently break calendars. They can uncover pre-existing data corruption in a database which is why issues can be triggered by updates. Think of an update as getting your car washed. If the car's paint is already chipped or flaking, paint is going to come off when it goes through the wash. I'm glad you had backups and were able to restore your calendars.
To try and resolve your issue:
__First make an iCal backup, File > Export > Archive.
__Un-publish the calendar.
__Export the calendar holding this recurring event as an ICS file: File > Export > Export.
__Delete the calendar in question from iCal
__Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
Home > Library > Caches
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
__NOTE: Removing these files will remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
__Once the computer is restarted, double-click the ICS you exported to re-add it.
__Re-publish the calendar
If the issue persists at this point, I would delete this recurring event and re-create it as it's entry in the iCal database may be damaged.

IMovie 09 crashes when I try to delete Event

I'm trying to start using a big external hard drive to hold iMovie 09 Events etc. I can copy Events from internal drive to external drive from within iMovie, but if I try to delete any Event from either drive from within iMovie, iMovie first warns me that a project using that Event won't play after the deletion, then iMovie quits unexpectedly. Per iMovie Help, I should be able to do what I'm trying to do. What's up??
External drive is formatted in Mac Extended (Journaled) and connected via FireWire 400.

What is your Macs Model Identifier? (Go to " About this Mac > More Info..." )
Roughly how many Events do you have?
Roughly what is the total size of the content you are trying to copy to an External Drive?
What camcorder did you use to create the events (Make / Model)?
Or what is the bulk of your video consist of (Camcorder video, Still camera video, Internet video files)?

let's go step by step:
1. "eve" is an internal table that holds the list events you would like to handle. A typical example could be:

le_events-form = 'PRINT_TOP'.
APPEND le_events TO eve.
le_events-name = 'END_OF_LIST'.

APPEND le_events TO eve.
...where PRINT_TOP and PRINT_SELECTIONS are FORMs that carry out some headers and some footers of the listing.
2. "t_doc" seems to me to be a variable that stores a sales document number (VBELN), which is then passed to a SET/GET parameter 'AUN'.
I strongly recommend you to have a llok at the documentation of the parameters of function module REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY, it is VERY complete and helpful.

Event dispatching to swing components

Hi,
I'm implementing an extension of JTextPane, and I would like to make it as much reusable as possible.
In order to do this, the class don't have to know about the external world (components)..
The class should notify events (e.g. an event could be that a specific string has been typed..) to the other components just sending a message (or event), and all the components registered to that specific event implement their behavior to react to it.. quite simple..
which is the simplest solution in Java to do this?

You should implement event dispatching based on the listener model, for consistency. Since you are extending JTextPane, a lot of the event dispatching code is written for you. Look up JTextPane in the javadocs and check out all the classes it is derived from. To take advantage of the already written listener code, simply call the appropriate fireWhateverEvent method whenever something happens. That will cause the event to be dispatched to all listeners registered with that component. If you want to define some new events that aren't covered by any of the listener methods in any of the classes your new class is derived from, here's the general way to do it:
1) Define a new listener interface that implements the EventListener interface (which contains no methods).
2) In your new listener interface, include methods for specific events, such as keyPressed, actionPerformed, textTyped, etc...
3) Each of these methods should take a single parameter describing the event. This parameter should be a class that extends EventObject and that contains data relevant to your event. For example, you may define a TextEvent class that extends EventObject. The only methods EventObject has is getSource() and toString(). You won't really need to override these as long as you call the EventObject(Object) constructor from your TextEvent constructors.
4) In your JTextPane derived class, define methods that can add, remove, and get a list of all registered event listeners for your event (ex: void addTextListener(TextListener t), void removeTextListener(TextListener t), TextListener[] getTextListeners()).
5) add*Listener should add the listener to an internal list of listeners (a LinkedList or a Vector are good ways to store the registered listener lists). remove*Listener should remove the listener from the list, and get*Listeners should return the list in array form.
6) For ease-of-use, define a fire method like fireTextListener(params), which creates a new TextEvent (assuming you're doing the TextListener thing) holding the specified event data and iterates through the internal list of listeners, calling the appropriate method in each one and passing your TextEvent to it.
7) Call your fire*Event functions wherever appropriate to fire events.

MouseMove event dispatching

I noticed a confusing behavior
regarding event dispatching when a control holds a
mouse event.
Usually, in a standard GUI framework, when you resize a
spliter, the event is not dispatched to other control.
it's not the case with a flex spliter. The event is thrown to
all controls the mouse moves over during the drag of the spliter.
how can we stop that?

After some internal discussion, I hear that this is not a bug
after all. Here is the recommendation (from our dev team) for you
to get all of your mouse events to one target -
1- add a mousedown handler to their component.
2. in the mousedown handler, add a mousemove and mouseup
handler to the systemManager. These handlers should be registered
for capture.
3. in those handlers, do what you need to do, then stop
propogation of the event (see the methods on the event class).
4. in the mouseup handler, remove the mousemove and mouseup
handlers. make sure you remove them from the system manager, and
also set the capture flag in the remove.

Modal Form between the Form Events

I create a modal form which is like the message box but with a textbox in it. What i mean here is, the modal needs to hold the form event while it's adding an Sales Order record.
I have tried the Modal Form method as shown in SDK Sample 12.ModalForm. However, i found the Sales Order is added before i click any button in the Modal Form.
So, can anyone give me any advise how to work with it.......

Solution I would try is to catch FormItemEvent, EventType = et_ITEM_PRESSED, ItemUID = "1".
With this you can catch the OK/Save button. If you use the BeforeAction you can even Cancel (bubbleEvent) adding the record if the user cancels your modal form.

Time Machine not backing up iPhoto changes (Events, pictures, etc..)

So I finally decided to buy a external hard drive (WD) and backup some of my data to it using Time Machine. The initial backup went well with no problems but what I noticed is as I added events and pictures they were not appearing in Time Machine.
I could open time machine and view that my iPhoto had the current events when the date selected was "Today (now)", but as I went back in time the events that SHOULD of been there were not.
Browsing the folders on the backups showed the iPhoto database to be 13.5gb when actually the new size on my iMac was 19.5gb.
So why does Time Machine not detect these changes? For my backups I have excluded all folders except for the Users folder which contains the iPhoto library. Time Machine is not detecting the changes and backing it up. How can I fix this?

Yeah. At first I thought it was:

Because I was doing that earlier. But then realized I did repair permissions, not disk. But anyways decided to reboot (because I haven't up to this point).
Once it came back up I tried doing another backup. Didn't see it. Opened iPhoto again and exited it (checked Force Quit to make sure it wasn't open). Told it to do a BACKUP NOW. This time it saw a difference of like 7mb.
After it was done, went to iPhoto -> File -> Browse Backups. Went back a couple minutes when I did the backup and my event now has a place holder within the Events but it is pure black. I double clicked the event and it opened up and saw there were 3 files in there. They had default icons and were not showing as pictures like they were. (even though they display fine in iPhoto).
Time Machine seems very flakey to me. My machine is fully updated also.

Should I keep both Projects and Events in same external drive?

I just updated to 10.1 lastnight and expected to see a few differences with the library system but prior to this version, I was always under the impression that it's better to keep events on one external drive and projects on another which would boost performance. That is how my system is currently setup.
After updating, I had one project being worked (which means one active event folder and one active project folder on both drives). The update modified my projects and events folders as expected, and now I have 2 libraries appearing in FCPX: "Hardrive 1: Updated Projects" and "Harddrive 2: Events".
Problem: The project that appears in the first library has an exclamation sign saying Proxy Files Missing so when I double click it to load into the timeline, the clips don't show.
Confusion: In that same first library that has the project, I also see a few clips from the event that it belongs to, so they all say proxy files missing. The Second Library that's on my Media drive (where I kept my events isolated from before) is showing all the clips that were there from before for that event as it should, so why are there also a fraction of clips inside the First Library where the Project file is? Are clips being duplicated in to where the Project files reside?
SIMPLIFIED QUESTION: Am I now supposed to keep both projects and events on the same single external drive and stop using two separate drives?

Unfortunately a surprising number of people have been doing this. It wasn't really any great benefit.
If you saved the original projects and events and the previous version of FCP, who should go back to it and sort out the projects and events. Use the application to move the projects to the drive that holds the corresponding events. Then update the projects and events in 10.1.

How to dispatch an event from the application to the preloader

HI everyone
                 I've been searching everywhere on the net, and as far as it goes I gotten no answer for this. When the application hit the preinitialize phase, I'm calling the loadStyle method. As you can see I will hold the CreationComplete event until I the swf is ready. What I want to do, is to have a second loading bar in the preloader (no problem here) to show the progress of the swf downloaded, hence the StyleEvent.PROGRESS event. I would like to know how can I dispatch that event to the preloader?

As you can see, the preloader is listening to StyleEvent.PROGRESS events, but I cant dispatch that event to the preloader so that it can react to it. I hope you can help me. Thanks for your time and help

I think you mean something like this:
private function progreso(event:StyleEvent):void
              (this.systemManager.getChildAt(systemManager.numChildren) as Preloader).getChildAt(XXXXXXXX).dispatchEvent(event)
/////////////////////// (this.systemManager.getChildAt(systemManager.numChildren) as Preloader)) -------->gets the preloader
///////////////////////(this.systemManager.getChildAt(systemManager.numChildren) as Preloader).getChildAt(XXXXXXXX)     -------------> would get the progressbar (only If I have XXXXXvalue)
let me tell you that the method that I posted on the last message was a part of this class:
     public class PreloaderDisplayBase extends Sprite implements IPreloaderDisplay
PreloaderDisplayBase is my Preloader.
