Hold Switch wont work

my ipod mini's hold switch dont work, when ever i switch it on, i can still skip track, change volume, well everything basicly. anyone have any suggestions to the problem?

Try to do a Reset before you plug your iPod with the Wall Charger. If it does not work, I am afraid you may need a battery replacement. You can have a replacement from apple shop or a 3rd party supplier (DIY)

Hold Button wont work

So i have had my mipod touch for about a year and a half now and has worked great. I just went and added some more songs onto my ipod yesterday and now the hold button wont work. My ipod wont turn off or hold. Is there an easy fix for this problem? Or does anyone know why this happened?

There is no "hold" button on a Touch, only the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons (and I suppose the volume button on the side if you have a 2G or later).
In any case, if you have experienced a change in behavior it is best to try turning the Touch completely off (not to sleep, OFF), or if that doesn't help then try Resetting it, and if that doesn't help Restore it, and if that doesn't help Restore it as a new iPod (i.e. don't re-load your last backup).

Nano 4th gen hold switch not working

Hello. I just bought a used nano 4th gen on eBay. The hold switch is not working - the click wheel remains active and no lock icon appears in the upper right corner of the screen. It's on the latest firmware 1.04 and I've done a restore twice already.
The seller claims the hold switch did work before he sent it. Is there anything I can try to get it to work? It's out of warranty.

Have you done a restore of the phone to see if that fixed the problem with the speaker? If that doesnt help then you probably damaged something inside the phone when you dropped it.
If you're annoyed by the problem, you can always get a replacement phone

Hold switch wont turn off.

*My hold switch is turned off but it is somehow still on? I have to hold down a button and keeping holding it down while scrolling to do anything. Its really weird.*

Have you tried Resetting your iPod? Hold down the MENU and SELECT (centre) buttons for five or ten seconds until you see the Apple logo appear then pressing any button should take you to the usual menu. If that doesn't work then try restoring your iPod, this will erase the hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings so make sure you have all your songs backed up in iTunes: Restoring iPod to Factory Settings

Power off/on SIM switches wont work on Nokia 6310i

Just got a power off/on dual SIM switch for my 6310i off e-bay. Its a slim frame which goes between battery and phone.
I've been running a similar triple switch for a while - but its a physical switch inside where battery needs to be removed to change sims + the switch is getting a bit iffy after a year of use.
The vendor says his product is suitable for 6210 and 6310i. I have an old 6210 and sure enough, it works fine on that - but it won't toggle on power off/on on the 6310i. Any ideas?

When you plug it in to iTunes does it show up under devices? Try restoring it. That's the best thing you can do if you're out of warrenty

5G ipod hold switch doesn't work during video

Often, when I start playing a video, the hold switch has zero effect; it never locks the controls. Then later, when I start playing music, the hold switch starts working again. I have seen this behavior enough that I now believe it is a software bug, and not a hardware issue with my iPod.
Any truth to this? Or am I seeing a hardware anomaly and I should swap it out (its under 30 days).

I just went and got my ipod repaired but they just gave me a brand new one and the hold switch DID work...for the frist day. then it worked occasionally, and now it dooesn't work at all and i've had it for ABOUT a week. can i fix it myself or should i give it back to them to be repaired or to get ANOTHER new one?

I, personally, wouldn't tempt fate and risk invalidating your warranty - just take it back!!

Hold Switch On and Off not working - Always ON

I am having a serious problem with Hold Switch which is all the times in ON condition though I am moving right and left. None of the buttons are working because its in Locked state. Hold switch is not working. Is it a product related issue where in I need to go to store or is there any way to make it work.

Well it used to be that the iPods were not all that hard to open, especially with some simple plastic opening tools. However the new Classic line feature a brand new case design that to the best of my knowledge, no one has figured out how to open without breaking the case pieces. This is why if you look at many of the third parts battery sellings and iPod repair places, none are yet selling replacement batteries due to the inability to get into the ipod without ruining the case.
That said, if you do have a Classic, then it is obviously still under warranty since it just came out. Therefore, I would hit up your local Apple store or send it in if you don't have one near by. The hold switch not working is a warranty issue that they should cover.

Hold Switch

Not sure when I realized it was broken, but I think it was 1/2 mo. to 1 mo. ago. I traded in my iPod for a new one in May/June, because the USB was fried from trying to charge it on an old computer. I never used the new one on the old computer, and the hold switch definitely worked on my old one, so I doubt there's any connection.
The lock that shows up at the top of the screen will sometimes flash on and off, not rapidly, but occasionally, and only when I have the hold switch on. When the hold switch is on but the lock isn't showing, it's the same as if the hold switch wasn't on at all.

Yeah, I traded in my iPod by coming to the Apple Store and telling them what was wrong, and it was still under the warranty so they replaced it with a new one for me. The only downside was that the one I turned in was laser engraved and the one that I got back was not, but not a big deal.

Thx for the reply Forrest. As far as i can tell this is a software problem i have not a hardware one because the Hold switch works perfect if the iPod is connect to the PC , but starts going crazy on me when i remove the cable.
Note of advice for the guys who read this and have a fifth generation iPod. Don't leave it without battery :P or you will have huge chances to end up like me :P
I will try and keep this post updated if i find a solution to the problem till then if anyone has a ideea on how to fix the Hold i am more than grateful.

Hold switch broke

my hold switch dosnt work anymore and its stuck on the lock setting and my ipod is les then 14days old but i got it from best buy can i return it to an apple store or do i need to fight with best buy

I disagree as an extension of apple service the apple store should offer support and repair options from their stores or at least through other lines but not really sure. But Best Buy is usually pretty good and you probably best off trying to get them to do something than apple. RESET DEVICE
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for device to restart (no data will be lost).

IPOD NANO 8gb Black WONT WORK OUT OF HOLD

i got the 8 gb nano black for christmas 2006
One day i was trying 2 turn it on but it wouldnt work
i plugged it into both into wall charger and into my pc but nothing was responsive. I turned the hold switch on and it responded a black screen with the apple logo came up and it went into the main mnu screen. So i turned off the hold to start listening to music but as soon i took the ipod off hold the screen distorted and didnt repond again.
Ive tried everthing (It wont even reset)
i also tried restoring it but the same problem persists after restoring:(

No. There is one in Red and one in Black only (both of which I have). Always be careful of ebay sellers when it comes to iPods because there have been several fake iPod sellers.
