Holding down keys to repeat their value is no longer working

I'm not even sure where to start looking for the problem. I can type fine one character at a time, but any time I hold down a key, it is not repeated and I have to repeatedly press it manually.

I'm using i3. And you're right, I got it working with xset r on. However, it seems that if I use xset anywhere in my xinitrc, x fails to start without any meaningful error messages, not in the log or in stdout/stderr.

Check System Preferences>Keyboard>Keyboard. What is your key repeat rate?

Restoring ability to add accent marks by holding down keys

I used to be able to add accent marks by holding down keys. A couple of days ago I lost that function for no apparent reason. I can't find a way to restore it. What should I do?

Try creating a new user account and see if you have the same problem when logged into that.
In the meantime, you can make accents using the standard option key shortcuts as before, e.g. option e, then e gives you é.

We are upgrading an addon for version 8.81 that currently works well in 8.8 and have noticed the following;
        Dim oEdit As SAPbouiCOM.EditText
        Dim oItem As SAPbouiCOM.Item, sValue As String
     'This line worked in previous versions but fails in 8.8.1
     sValue = oForm.Items.Item("cEditText").Specific.Value
     'This works in 8.81 as well as previous versions.

                     sValue = oEdit.Value
Has anyone else encountered this? Have I got something set up wrong or is the ".Specific.Value" syntax no longer supported.

Yes the code you provided also works. Thanks.
I don't see why SAP made a change that causes working code to now fail. We are supporting a large app that has used the syntax in many different places and it will be a pain to go through and make the changes.
Does anyone know if this was intentional? Will it possibly be restored in a future release?

Trackpad "buttons" disabled while holding down key on keyboard

Hello,
ben having the following issue with the trackpad on this laptop:
when playing games and holding down the W-key for example, the click functionality on the trackpad seems to be disabled. Neither tapping the trackpad nor clicking the lower left side works, untill i release the said keyboard key.
the most usual issue, the entire trackpad beign disabled while typing is already "fixed" by turning the palm check off entirely. But dont seem to find option that enables the mouse button presses.

Dear Ashley - Y'day, I had the same problem. Before shutting off the phone vibrated for a minute or two and then the phone stopped working. I tried restart, charge all through y'day but it did not work. However, I left the phone without charging over night and tried today morning - luckily, it started and prompted me to upgrade to 5.1.1, which I did. I too have posted a question for help if there is some bug to fix. Hope your phone will also work again. All the best.

Sampling colors with brush tool by holding down ALT key doesn't work

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

The "Quit all applications" key combination no longer works in Lion

The standard Mac OS key combination to "quit all applications" no longer works in Lion. It only quits some of them some of the time - not all of them all of the time. Could this have something to do with the other "no Save-As" problem?
Either way, it's yet another backwards step - one of several in Lion that are cumulatively slowing down and intefering with my workflow.
I fear someone may jump in here and explain that this is one of the great new features and that it's my fault for being too dumb to appreciate it.....

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
