Holding remote buttons has no effect.
Hello,
I'm seeing some strange behavior with the remote. Regardless of which button is being held the ATV responds as if it's a single press. Unable to scroll, rearrange main menu icons, or jump to the main menu from anywhere. I've tried restarting. Is there anything else I should try? I noticed there are some new channels, as if we just recently had an update. Is anyone else seeing the same behavior? Thanks.

ctrl B makes the top bar (File. Edit. View. Controls. Store. Help.) appear and disappear.
ctrl S makes a side bar appear on the left side of iTunes. It shows the library which has Music. Movies. TV Shows. Apps. Playlists. Ect.
When I did the steps you suggested, my iPhone did not show up in that list.
I checked my firewall settings again, and they seem to be okay. My firewall is the only thing that I am not 100% sure of. If I go to Control Pannel>System and Security>Windows Firewall>Allow an app through Windows Firewall. It shows that iTunes is allowed. I'm not sure if something else might need to be allowed as well though. I have a few Remote options that are not allowed such as, Remote Event Log Management, Remote Scheduled Tasks Management, Remote Shutdown, Remote Volume Management, and Routing and Remote Access. I'm not sure if any of these need to be allowed or not, or if they are even affiliated with iTunes. -
The broken image symbol appears in place of the images but associated web links do work ok.
Changing options to allow all remote content has no effect. Senders' addresses are in my address book and on the exceptions list.
Some emails (from other sources) load perfectly. Using Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 on Windows 8.1. Thunderbird 31.4.0

I opened the backup window of my time machine. I now wish to exit. The cancel button and Command quit have no effect. Turning off the IMac and disconnecting the time machine have no effect. I have no access to the normal tool bar. I want outa here. Help!

Entering a URL in the address bar and hitting enter does nothing. Neither the "enter" button or "address bar arrow", for going to the website, function. Website does not load and no error messages appear. "Enter" button works fine in the FF search box and in IE, so it's not my keyboard.
Tried most of the recommended fixes under the "Error loading websites" article with the exception of "DNS refetching", as typing "about:config" in the location bar does no good as the "enter button" won't function. I've removed and re-added FF back into the windows firewall, removed ZoneAlarm from my system, edited proxy settings, deleted and reinstalled FF several times. NOTHING WORKS!!! I'm a die hard FF fan and this is KILLING me. Please HELP!!!You have a lot of information in packed in the "More system details..." (in the right-hand column), where it looks like you found a solution. If not take a look at "Problematic Extensions" the AVG Free installation of their "'''AVG Free Search'''" can cause such problems. Directions to fix that are specific and involve reinstalling AVG Free without the Link Scanner component.

Reply button has no effect, can't reply
I posted a question about Final Cut 7 and got an excellent reply. However, after logging in to offer my thanks and more information about the answer, the reply button seemed dead to the world. I can clip the reply button but nothing happens. Anyone with an ideas for me?

with or without closing all your ASC tabs, you allow a period of 30+ minutes to pass with NO hyperlink activity - this means links that onHover, show a URL in the activity bar - NOT a JavaScript link like 'Reply' or 'Like' or 'Load More'...
you get an email notice of the reply to which you wish to reply
you click the link to do so in the email
you are directed to that post
you click the 'Reply' JavaLink and it just sits there as you describe
If I am off base here, just ignore the rest.
What is happening is your session is being 'Timed-Out' with no notification (with a secure connection to your bank's site or somesuch, it would likely TimeOut WITH a notification). The known TimeoutLength is right at 30 minutes. The timer is reset in its very own cookie each time a hyperlink navigation is performed - JavaScript links do NOT reset the timer.
My workaround is to open a forum main page, Using ASC for example, and applying a browser extension that reloads that page on that tab every 20 minutes with 100% success in staying logged in and 0% experiencing your described issue - believe me, it happened to me often and the reloader is the only solution. Oddly, IF you have not been timed out after having been here logged in - no visit to ASC in a browser session and click the email reply link > login = all is right with the world.

I would guess that other browsers may have similar goodies available, if they are extensible
Barring that, you must intentionally navigate via hyperlink to avoid this

Ipod touch 4th gen was accidentally disconnected from laptop during update process. Now permanent screen pic is of the power cord w/ an arrow pointing up to itunes symbol. Holding the ctr & power buttons together for 6-10 sec causes apple pic to briefly appear and power cord/itunes pic reappears. Powering off and on has same effect. Attempting to reset.
It sounds like the iPod touch is in Recovery Mode, Try to restore it from iTunes again.

My iPad 2 home button has stopped working all together, I have tried the swivel from landscape to portrait whilst holding the home button, I've tried pressing the off switch then pressing the home button, the other thing I was advised to do was create a home button in the settings under the accessibility option but I don't have the option I was advised to use under there! Help! It's really frustrating having to turn the device off everytim I want to switch apps and I really can't afford to send it away to be mended! Many thanks in advance

Documentviewer new toolbar button HorizontalAlignment="Right" has no effect?
Hi all,
I added a button to the documentviewer toolbar after extracting a copy of the template in Blend. I added a button (closeButton) with an "X" as its content. It works but I want the button to be at the right side of the toolbar. I tried the
horizontalAlignment property but is has no effect. If I add margin="500,0,0,0" it works. But I don't want to fix it that way. What Am I missing?

Yes, the HorizontalAlignment property has no effect for the items inside the ToolBar control, as a workaround, we can move your "closeButton" out of ToolBar content, like this:

Page 4 of 6 of the actual library storing apps has frozen; effects all apps on that page-all other pages are fine and accessible just not the apps on this page; wont even toggle and give the option to delete when i hold down on a an app. Any ideas?

IPad 2 keeps freezing, soft reset has no effect
Hi there,
My iPad 2 has frozen 3 times in the past week and will only respond once I restore it. This has just started happening and it's almost every day now.
I've tried all the suggestions, all aspects of the screen freezes including the red slider, soft reset has no effect, resets and then is still frozen.
I last backed it up 2 weeks ago.
Any suggestions outside the box? iCloud? Apps?

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

After reading and resetting everything with Keyboard I still get blank white screen on 2nd? page of boot. The only way I can boot to Mavericks is unplug power cord, push and hold power button while plugging power cord in. Fans run at full speed, machine boots then runs normal except the dvdrw will not . The mid 2011 IMAC had the same problem with LION. I changed hard drives, formatted, and installed a clean install of latest os x mavericks. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Use the uninstaller provided with the Sophos software. You can uninstall CUDA via the preference pane. Be sure you remove the com.nvidia.CUDA extension which is located in the /System/Library/Extensions/ folder. Not sure if Fan Control has an uninstaller so you will have to do it manually:
Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash. Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder. Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space. If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application. In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder. You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder. You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder. Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item. Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder. Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences. Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab. Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS. Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term. Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default. You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, EasyFind, instead.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder. Usually with the same name as the program or the developer. The item generally has a ".pkg" extension. Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.

Be sure to remove your two Login Items. Finally do this:

Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
