Holding status in Adapter Framework

I have messages stuck in "holding" status in AF, but no prior messages in an errored status.  Anyone ever see this before?

We're on SP10, moving up to 11 as I type this.  Yes, this is EOIO.  They will not restart.
We THINK that the archive/purge jobs removed an event in "failed" status from the same EOIO Q (note 813993 indicates this is a bug fixed in SP11) and now our messages are stuck.
I looked into 811864 - our messages are not in "terminated incorrectly" status.  However, we are looking thru that note & some related ones to figure out how to get rid of those messages, because the purge jobs aren't picking them up.  (Perhaps because we are on our way up to SP11...)  Timing!!!  Any more advice on how to clear any & all messages for XI in the IE or AF is appreciated.  We are just on a sandbox, and this seems to be something we wish we had about twice a week.

  • Message status "Holding" - Message monitoring adapter framework

    Hello,
We have some messages with the status "Holding" in a queue in the message monitoring in the adapter framework.
Normally you have to restart the first message of that queue. The message with the status "system error". Unfortunately this message is not available anymore because it is older than 30 days and the retetion period is 30 days.
I already read the blog about "[How to deal with stuck EOIO messages in the XI 3.0 Adapter Framework|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs;jsessionid=(J2EE3417100)ID1887311350DB01819286872323159351End?blog=/pub/wlg/3566]"
The blog does not mention what to do when the first message (sequential number) is not available anymore.
Is it possible to restart the messages in the queue in that case?
    Thanks
    Kind regards
    Frank

Unfortunately this message is not available anymore because it is older than 30 days and the retetion period is 30 days.
I assume that the message was deleted.....in this case the next message in the queue will be blocking the queue....so try resending this message....even the blog mentions that you either solve the error or cancel the message....so now start from the second message....if possible solve the error for this message....if not possible to resolve then cancel it so that rest of the queue gets processed
    From the blog:
Now the erroneous message is the first message in the display. You can look at the error reason, try to fix the problem and
resend or cancel the message to release the queue.

    Abhishek.

  • Hold status

    Hi,
We are sending the file through outbound file adapter, in message monitoring it is showing as 'HOLD' status.
We don't have BPM in this case.
Can anybody guide me to debug this.
    Thanks & Regards

    Hi Katta,
did you try to restart the message?
    what happens then?
you can also take a look at Stefan's previous response:
Re: Holding status in Adapter Framework
he gave a few notes you can check
you can also check this PAG

  • Holding status

    Hi,
Actually we monitor error in Adapter Engine with ALM, but only error status are detected.
We want to detect message in "holding" status in Adapter Engine, with ALM or CCMS, someone would have a solution?

    hi,
but holding is not an error status so why do you need to monitor it?
if holding status is shown there are two possible reasons:
    1. there is en error in the queue - so you will be alerted
    2. the queueing takes too long - maybe the interface was designed in a wrong way if hardware is not an issue
so the holding status should not be your concern I guess and you need
to start with the real reason for this issue and not from the end

  • Adapter Framework File Adapter Message on hold

    Hello,
we have a problem with the Adapter Framework and their the File Adapter / Messaging System.
We process one HR IDOC from R/3 through XI and send it to 7 file adapters. The SXMB_MONI tells us that all messages have been processed without errors and when you go to the RWB and use the Message-Monitoring many messages are on status HOLD. XI makes the message EOIO once you have multiple receivers and something blocks the messages in the AF. Is there a way to delete the AF queues like the XI queues with SMQ1 or SMQ2. It looks like SAP had duplicated the SMQ business in JAVA but I found no documentation how to clean up queues or what to do if the get stuck.
    Thanks
    Stefan

    hi,
you can try question 3 adapters section
    on the XI FAQ:
    /people/michal.krawczyk2/blog/2005/06/28/xipi-faq-frequently-asked-questions
    to see adapters in RWB
but if you see them when you do it then
it means that this XI's configuration was not complete
so you may expect further problems

  • Purging EOIO messages with status "Holding" at the adapter level in XI.

    Hi,
I want to purge a set of messages (some 800) with status "Holding" at Adapter level in RunTime Workbench. I have gone through the blog "/people/stefan.grube/blog/2006/04/27/how-to-deal-with-stuck-eoio-messages-in-the-xi-30-adapter-framework which explain the way to reprocess the messages which are stuck in EOIO so that the rest in queue are processed but is there a way to purge a large number of messages in a EOIO queue which are holding for long, at the adpater framework level thorugh some option in Runtime workbench or Visual Administrator of J2EE server on which XI is running ?

    Hi Gourav,
What do you mean by delete files from folder.
I have this problem and I can't get rid of the messages that are stuck in the adapter engine.
If I need step 3.  how is that done?
    Thanks.

  • Monitoring EOIO Messages stuck in AE with HOLD status?

    Hi Gurus,
    Scenario: IDOC -- > XI (Message split) - - > (HTTP/File)
Some times messages to File adapter are stuck in Adapter Engine with status "HOLD". Found the root cause and un-checked "Maintain order at runtime" in interface determination.
How to get alert if the EOIO messages are stuck in AE with status "HOLD"?
    Please help.

    Hi,
    HOLD status
This is an EOIO message whose predecessor was not processed successfully yet. The status is retained until all predecessors are delivered successfully. If a predecessor has the "System error" status and is restarted, all successors are also restarted provided that the delivery of the predecessor is successful.
If a predecessor has the "canceled with errors" status, further processing is not possible in systems before Support Package 11 for the adapter framework and Support Package 10 for the adapter framework core patch 02. In higher version systems, the status of predecessors can only be set to "canceled with errors" in a manual way. Successors that have the "Holding" status can be restarted after you have set the "canceled with errors" status (see related note 811864).

    Sreenivas

    Any help would be apreciated....

    Hi,
Go to the runtime workbench --> Message Monitoring --> Click on the 'Configure Table Columns' > Check Sequence ID, Serialization Context & Sequential Number options.> and then click 'Apply'.
Then in the 'Serialization Context' column you will get the queue ID for the stcuk message.
Take that value and click on the 'Show additional Criteria' option on the top and put this value in the 'Serialization context' parameter. Also, select the start/end date as 'This year' --> start.
You will get all the messages stuck in that particular queue for this yoear, try to rectify them, so that your message will be processed.

  • Messages stuck in Holding status in Runtimeworkbench

    Hi,
Some Messages are stuck in Runtime workbench of PI in Holding status,When I resend the messages they return to same status again.
The messages are sent on 15-5-2014.I could not find those messages either in SXMB_MONI or SMQ2.
Now how to resend the messages successfully.Appreciate your help in this.

    Hi Gurudatta,
If it is EOIO then you can go the Messaging System and there you can find  the message which is blocking the other queues. Check the first message and delete it
And go to runtime work bech ---Message Monitoring --Adapter Engine and filter Holding message and Resend/cancel the first holding message
If it is not successfull stop and start the recevier communication channel. This will work

  • Exception caught by adapter framework: unable to create a socket

    Hi All,
I am using Idoc to XI To SOAP scinario. I got a alert asying that some messsage id is error. When i am trying to monitor that massage by taking help of the messgae id in the alert the message was successful in the SXMB_MONI,. Then i Went to message monitoring There the message statu was syetem error. Errror log is *Exception caught by adapter framework: unable to create a socket*. The communication channel was inactive wehere as the statsu of the channel was active in the directory... what is the reasonm for this error. and how to resilev this.

As pointed already, a socket exception occurs when then message cannot pass the Firewall settings....there will be a port configured to send message to the SOAP receiver.....ask network guys to make relevant settings so that the port is free from Firewall restrictions.
@Supriya --> Active/ Inactive status of the channel in ID and in CC monitoring are different things.
To change the status of your CC in RWB --> Stop & Start your SOAP CC....the channel will remain inactive till no message is passed through it....once a message is passed the status will change to success/ error.
You can also change the CC status to Automatic.
    Regards,
    Abhishek.

  • Debugging for exceptions caught by adapter framework

I am getting an error ' Exception caught by adapter framework while processing message to remote system..'
Is there any way to debug in such cases.
while executing sxmb_moni i am getting status processed successfully but getting an error in the runtime workbench of XI in message monitoring for component adapter engine.

    Tamoghna,
This error comes when the adapter is not able to communicate with the target system. eg, if it is a JMS scenario, and the host is not reachable then you get this error. If you are in a domain, try to give fully qualified system name or ip address.
    regards,
    Felix
