Holy Cow! I Can't Open The File!

Well, it happened.
I was working on a song, and was almost finished with it.
It started to freeze the computer frequently.
I repaired permissions, and ran some third party repair software, that specifically repaired that file.
...and now Garageband won't open it.
It opens the other GB files, but not this one.
It hangs on that progress bar.
Any suggestions?
or am I just out of luck?

Yes, Scott, that worked. Christoph recommended it, and I went ahead and tried it. Recovered all vocals, bass, guitars...
Piecing it together is a bit of a challenge, but do-able.
Unfortunately, in the song that got lost,
I'd programmed a ton of piano and drums that I just loved.
It sounded absolutely natural, as if I'd played it,
and that stuff's gone.
That's many hours of re-do.
Anyway, I'm still trying to figure out why that happened in the first place.
Could be simply that I didn't repair permissions frequently enough while working on this song, and that allowed some wierd corruption to take place?
When I ran Norton on the HD, there were a lot of serious systemic problems that got repaired. In fact, the repairing is what made my corrupted file inaccessible.
But my other theory is that bringing in a wav. file (remember that drumroll issue?) might have caused the problem.
On the other hand, that wav file is right there in the media folder, and it seems to be fine. As a matter of fact, I re-used now in the re-construction, and it seems to pose no problem.
I don't know. Maybe all this is a little signal that I'd better start focusing on my day gig! Recording is addictive.

OneNote recordings "We're sorry, we can't open the file because it is in use by another program."

Constantly, OneNote breaks and screws up my recordings that are synced with my lectures. It is such a fragile process and very frustrating. As soon as I'm done recording, I press stop. When I test the recording, it says, "We're sorry, we can't open
the file because it is in use by another program." I just recorded and then stopped it. If i close and reopen OneNote, it says, "oneNote is cleaning up from the last time it was open." And the recording still says it's in use by another program.
I've even restarted the laptop and it still won't open. The only way i could salvage the file is if I copy and paste it into another folder, and then it will open through windows media player, but all the live syncing with my notes are gone. Where are these
files stored? If I could save the sound and find the file/format that holds the syncing data again, I could work around this. They are no where to be found on my computer. Other forums give locations, but my folders are empty. Some other recordings work and
sync nicely, but I have still lost many recordings to this error. However, if I play a file and then close it without stopping playback, that file, too, will now be unusable. It will be stuck as "We're sorry, we can't open..." no matter what i do
and again i have to copy/paste it into a new folder and then move it back. I had the same problem on my last laptop. I record in Windows Media Audio 10 Professional at 192 kbs, 48 kHz, and stereo CBR. I need the high quality because the lecturer is too quiet.
It seems to happen when I record long lectures, 45 min+. Shorter recordings tend to work fine.
Please help, this would make note taking so much easier.

Now we have created these REPORTS using Basic Crystal Report 10.5, which comes bundled with Visual Studio 2008 and .Net Framework 3.0. Now on our machines, we have never experienced any issues.
Going by the above, you should have references to CR assemblies of version 10.5.3700 only. No other references.

You need camera raw 8.4 for your camera, if it’s Digital Rebel T5 EOS 1200D EOS Kiss X70. It is not compatible with PSE11; so it’s a bit odd if that software was bundled with the camera except that it will work with jpegs. I suggest you download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your CR2 files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the DNG files will editable in PSE11(keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)

Can not open the file

After the report files were moved to the directory under root in Linux, I can not open the file(.rdf) in my working directory in linux even though it doesn't work in the report builder in window.(it used to work fine)
error message the following;
rep-0110:unable to open file 'c:\documents and settings\myhome\desktop\invoice10.rdf
rep-1070:error while opening or saving a documents
can you tell me what it is the solution for that?

I'm not sure that Lion AutoSave feature apply to network servers.
I'm just sure that the Versions feature doesn't.

InDesign Crashed and Now Can't Open the File It Crashed On

I had a file open from a G4 server. I left and came back and my computer had gone to sleep losing the connection to the server. InDesign crashed with that file open and now I can't open the file at all I keep getting this error message:
Cannot open the document [document name]. You may not have permission or the document may be open already. For multi-user access, close the file and then lock it using the File > Get Info command in the Finder.
The document is not open, on the server I forced the permissions to be all read and write for everyone, I dumped my InDesign preferences. What else can I do? Has anyone had this problem before? (I am connected to the server now that I'm trying to reopen it.)
When I started InDesign after it crashed, it asked me to recover the file and I tried to but it didn't open anything (I was not connected to the server at that point which may have screwed things up) There are two files in the InDesign Recovery folder one called 'RecoveryData' and one called 'DBTmp239689402256' both of which don't open in indesign.

You may want to back up your work on a regular basis. Check out Retrospect or Retrospect Light. Lots of computers come with the light version so you may already have it.

I had a Word .doc that became corrupted while SpellChecking an entire vintage book that had been OCRed. Crashed every time I opened it in Word. I think those files are Samsung's proprietary format, so only the Samsung software can open and display them. If they do not make their software for OS X, then you are stuck requiring windows.

We work on a Mac and a Win machine. We share the files via a NAS. We now encounter the problem that the muse-site saved by the Win machine can no longer be openend by the Mac. (#3125 error. A 3125 error indicates the operating system returned an error when Muse attempted to open the file.
It's highly unlikely there's anything wrong with the file. If you haven't already confirmed, if you copy the file to the Mac's local drive it will open fine.
I'm suspicious of file/folder permissions. Is it possible the account used to mount and write to the NAS from Windows has different user permissions than the account that's attempting to read it on the Mac? I could theorize a 3125 error might occur if one user with the necessary permissions wrote a file to the NAS and then a second user with insufficient permissions attempted to open it.
Also, two users cannot simultaneously open the same .muse file on the NAS. Is that what's being attempted in this case? Muse goes to great lengths to attempt to prevent this and should put up an error about the file already being open in another copy of Muse. However, how that's detected is dependent on OS APIs that have subtly different behaviors on different servers and server protocols.
