Hom System Copy ECC 5.0 HPUX from PA-RISC to Itanium
Hi gurus,
I want to replace an old PA-risc server (rp5470) with a new Itanium server (rx6600) even in HPUX operative system where is installed a central instance of NW04 Ecc 5.0.
It is possibile to procede with a simple Homogeneus System Copy, changing the kernel version (ia64 instead of parisc) and oracle executables?
There is a plain compatibility between parisc binaries (oracle datafile) and the itanium binaries?

reading note <a href="http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1003028">1003028</a> it looks very much like you can now do a heterogenious system copy using the homogenious system copy procedure backup/restore as long you stay on Oracle.
This procedure is also very interesting concerning 9.2 to 10.2 upgrades during system copy.

Source system :
ECC6.0 EHP1 ABAP+java dual stack system with DB2 AIX
Required Target system:
ECC 6.0 EHP1 (same as target system except single stack java not required)
1 .I was trying to use db specific homogeneous system copy method wiht redirected restore script
2. Not possible to get downtime on source system hense it's a production system , then i used target system installaion with homogeneous system copy database specific mehthod
Problem is - it's asking migration export while creating the target system , but i don't have any migration export since i have not exported from source system .
please help us to proceed further.

As I understand, you have started IMPORT using SAPinst for target system installation. During IMPORT, what target system installation (only ABAP or what ?) you chose ?

This is because the source system is ABAP+Java, and now during target system installation, then IMPORT procedure is asking for Java Export dump.

If your production system and your QA system have the same OS and DB, look for the guide for Homogeneous System Copy, if they are different look for the Heterogeneos System Copy guide at SAP Marketplace... Also find more information at http://service.sap.com/systemcopy

Hi Experts,
We have SAP ECC 6.0 on Windows with MS SQL server.
We did a System copy on target system without any errors.
Now when try to start the SAP service on Target System, dispatcher is not coming successfully, it is giving the message as "Running the message server connection ok, Dialog Queue time: 0.00 sec, J2EE status info unavailable.
Tried changing the JVM Parameters through Config tool, but no success..

I have checked the runjmt.log its empty.
I did find a note 966752.but couldnt solve the problem.Another thing do we need to have same version of j2sdk,mine are different on source(ia64) and target(x64).

In that case when you are speaking about the installation about what part are you speaking?
I think actually you are speaking about the migration tool from 4.2 to 7.0 Microsoft version .
In that case you can install the mIgration tool just with SAP BPC sys admin users and you have to input the password for that user. Sys admin user for BPC is usually the user used for installation of SAP BPC server.
Any way I suggest to follow the Migration tool training document and there you will find all the information necessary.

Am using method System Copy/ Oracle Backup/Restore to migrate from 32 to 64 bit (HOM System Copy).
Actions on source system:
a) Upgrade from 9.2.0.7 to Oracle 10.2.0.4
b) Used ora_br_copy.bat to generate CONTROL.SQL and init<sid>.ora
c) Switched logfiles
d) Performed offline backup
Actions on target system:
a) Installed Oracle 10.2.0.1 and patched it to 10.2.0.4
b) Used CD 51033746 "6.20/6.40 based products Installation Master (Edition May 2008)" to install the CI
c) Started installation of the DB instance selecting System Copy/ Oracle Backup/Restore (same <SID> for source and target systems)
Relevant input parameters used:
Database schema: SAPR3
Database character set: US7ASCII
d) When SAPINST stopped to allow for restoring of datafiles, logs and init<sid.ora>:
- copied datafiles and logs to the usual place
- copied CONTROL.SQL (edited to include utilrp.sql and utlrp.sql for the migration from 32 to 64) to the DB-instance intallation . directory.
- copied generated init<SID>.ora to the <ORACLE_HOME>\database
e) Resumed SAPINST.

No - not really auotmatically if you upgraded from 9.2 And "init<SID>.ora" is past, you nowadays use "spfile" If, of course, e. g. Automatic Undo was activated in 9.2 then it's there of course in 10.2 too.

The exported content is about 10 % of the size of the system, it's database and OS independent so yes, you can import it nicely on 32bit. Another tip: make sure you don't just use the default configurations for R3load, it will take a HUGE amount of time. Use the package splitter (builtin-in in sapinst) so you get a much higher parallelism when importing.

System copy Oracle 10.2 in MSCS

we need to move (using system copy) for a old MSCS cluster to new HW MSCS cluster of our NW04s (Abap and Java) + Oracle 10.2.0.2 + Win03 X86.
I would like to use backup/restore method due a very large Oracle database.
OK, I've already move a stand alone system to a MSCS using backup/restore method... but now, into MSCS source system I can't select method of backup/restore export to generare SDM, ecc. jar file to complete system copy on target system.
Is it possible to use a Oracle backup/restore method to copy an existing MSCS to new MSCS ?

BW 3.5 homogeneous system copy/oracle 9.2
Hello
We have an big BW 3.5 system. Like other productive systems which needs to be fully available we would like to perform homogeneous system copy.
In case of ECC system we are doing this procedure of renaming <SID> within Oracle tables on disconnected secondary side(so the productive system is fully functional). Then we connect this database(with renamed <SID> to test system) and perform bdls, TMS management etc....
I wander in this regard BW 3.5 has any major difference which would prevent something like this?Dear Jan,

'System Copied' system with J2ee status info not available
Hi. We installed a ECC 6 Server (abap+java) with MSSQL 2005 with SID:T13 & updated all patches in the system. Later we did a system copy & named it a T14.
IN SE06 (post-installation activity); First we selected 'standard installation' instead of 'database copy / migration'. When we restarted the SAP system, the 'disp+work' process gave stats as 'j2ee status info unavailable'. Hence, second time selected 'Database Copy or Database Migration' and did post-installation activity.
In both cases 'developer Trace' of 'disp+work' give the same error.

I am doing system copy CRM 2007 (NW 7) from DEV to Sandbox system. after database recovery sap is unable to make connection to database (DB is up and running). R3trans -d finished with 0012.
My question is how to change database schema after system copy. this might be the reason sap is not coming up.

What does the trans.log output say?
(Just a curious question, but did you apply your sap license for the copied system)

i tried to make a system copy of our crm nw 7.01 system via SWPM.
System: Windows 2003 R2
SQL : MS SQL 2005
i started sapinst with our <sid>adm user
i get on "Export ABAP" on step "testing Database connection"
R3load.exe -testconnect exists with error code 2. see r3load.exe.log ( i attached the log)
if i try this over cmd.exe i get following
i set up the following enviroment variables and get the newest kernel 721 too.

Do you still face the issue?
Ideally for system copy, an administrative user apart from <sid>adm has to be used.
Also please cehck if the R3trans -x command works? Also check trans.log created when running the command.

1.I was getting error at Abap phase load error .So i have merge the tsk & bak files by r3laod and manually set ign in tsk files .Should i change the ign status back to error.Is this could be the problem causing in adjusting table name phase.
Status "ign" will ignore the object from being imported into the database. This may lead to inconsistency and loss of data.
2.We have used abap export using Sap inst only .Will that not effect if using import by SWPM
Actually SWPM also contains sapinst tool. But As I never never used this approach , I would suggest you to give a try and check.
Else you may need to perform fresh export and then import using SWPM.

We will do a system copy for BPC on HANA from DEV to QAS (system installation with system copy method), are there any special considerations about the copy.
Addtionally, can I say that the system copy for BPC and for BW are the same (both follow the system copy guide based on SAP NetWeaver)? Are the follow-up activites the same for both?

If nothing has been changed in DEV after installation then backup & copy should be fine. I was thinking that you want to move custom development that way; recommended way for it is Transport system.
Not sure if this will be faster than just installing everything in QAS.
I'd think that the only follow-up activities would be change of references: to itself and to other systems. If active BW is in same box then it's more to change; if BW only serves as a platform for BPC then it's only SM59 and SPRO.
