Home Button goes unresponsive when iPad locks, accompanied with Safari crashes

As the title says, I've taken notice that my iPad is slowly deteriorating performance wise. Safari has been increasing crashes over the past week, to the point where I think something is up if it DOESN'T crash within the last 10-30mins. The browser will freeze, and boot me out to the Home Screen.
I am now at the point where, once my iPad goes black after not fiddling with it for awhile, the Home Button will not bring me to the Lock Screen unless I double click it for the mini-music controls to appear. These things seem to have started appearing only after I updated to the latest iOS 5.0.1 update.
My iPad has suffered no outside trauma, the battery rarely gets to less than 5% life, and I've disabled unneeded and unused features, such as many of the Spotlight Searches. I do however, keep roughly 6-8 tabs open in Safari regularly, as I like to hop tabs as my attention span demands lol (that in itself may be the reason for the browser crashes..).
Does anyone else seem to have any similar issues, or know that it might be a firmware/hardware problem that is documented somewhere? I have seen other threads about unresponsive iPads/iPhones but nothing that matches my problem specifically.

I'm hoping I wont have to get to that point. But thats what its looking like its coming to. I haven't come across anyone else with the issue.

Have you guys been able to activate your iphone yet? I bought an iphone 4s from eBay and it worked fine, but the previous user had left some data on it, so last night I used the "erased all content and settings" to restore it to factory setting so I can start fresh and restore my backup. But now I'm stuck at the activation screen (I get the same "the activation server is temporarily unavailable")  and can't get it to activate, even if I use my old deactivated AT&T sim card (I'm on straighttalk now).
I might try activating it with an active AT&T sim card from my fiancee's phone when she gets home, so I'll let you know how that works outs.
If it's true that the server is down; anyone know when it will be back up again? Thanks in advance.

  • Why won't my home button on my new iPad 3 work?

My iPad 3 is like brand new and for some reason the home button won't work every time I press it.... And it's getting really annoying. How can I fix this problem with out assistive touch.

Sometimes this will work, but frankly, you shouldn't be going through all of this with a brand new iPad. I would return it to where you bought and let them see how the iPad is behaving.
    Anyway, give this a shot.
Quit all apps completely and restart the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

  • My ipad2's home button is unresponsive..followed instructions for restoring and still the home button is unresponsive...

my ipad2's home button is unresponsive i called support and they emailed instructions  for backup and restore....this did not solve the problem...now what?

I don't know whether this solves your problem, however, I did temporally disconnect from FaceTime. That at least solved mine, where I also had my iPad 2 responding very sluggishly to any kind of input (incl. hardware buttons). The problem was persistent over several reboots, so it had to be something with deeper connections into the OS.

Apple, as I said, does not repair your iPhone. All hardware service issues are handled by replacing the unit. So they can't handle the home-button issue without also addressing the issue of the cracked screen, for which they'll almost certainly charge you. But you can make an appointment at an Apple Store or call Apple tech support and plead your case.

  • Palm tx home button goes to contacts

The 4 buttons on the bottom of my Palm TX seem to be mixed up. The leftmost home button goes to APPOINTMENTS, the left inside button goes to CONTACTS, the button to the right inside button goes to TASKS, and the rightmost button goes to NOTE. Is there a way to reset these to point to the correct application?

  • I was updating my ipod and had to stop it so held down the power and home buttons. Now my ipod is frozen with the apple logo showing. The computer will not recognise it so it will not charge or restore. Is there anything that I can do myself?

I was updateing the software on my ipod through the wireless straight to the ipod and had to stop so held down both the power and the home buttons. Now the screen is frozen with the apple logo and the normal 'unfreeze' technique won't work. The computer does not recognise the ipod so will not charge or restore it. Is there anything that I can do myself?

Unplug it and let unit go dead. Then hold your Home button down and plug the USB power cord back in. iTunes should see it and then restore.

  • Ipad mini retina display safari crashed with ios 8.0.2

After updating my daughters iPad Mini retina display, safari crashes as soon as anything is entered in the search box. This started after IOS 8.0.2 update.
I have rebooted and reset the iPad. I have cleared the history and website data, but nothing has helped.

    Try some basic troubleshooting:
    (A) Try reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
    (B) Try reset all settings
    Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings
    (C) Setup as new (data will be lost if you do not have backup)
    Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings

  • Where is the home button on ipad2 when asked to double click?

Where is the home button, when asked to double click. I'm trying to lock my screen in landscape mode and to stop it from rotating. Please advise....thank you...

It's located just below the outside rim of the screen and the bottom of the iPad.
It's the button above with the little square in it.

  • Home button not working on ipad 2 help

my home button has stopped working on my ipad 2, i have updated and restored but no joy, help

It could be a hardware problem but Try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. When the screen goes blank power On again in the normal way.] It is absolutely/appsolutely safe!
