Home button icon in notification center

If you own an iPod Touch long enough and you have used it very often, you might notice that the Home Button becomes unresponsive. I can read that on the Internet that people are annoyed about this, so I am not the only one!
To get around using the button, I was hoping I could install a virtual home button in the Notification Center. A search on the Internet revealed that they are (were) several solutions without jailbreaking the device, but all these programs disappeared from the AppStore or they do not longer contain a feature to place icons into the Notification Center screen (e.g., launch center).
Is there another way to get around that hardware Home Button? I tried all things suggested to make that button more responsive – nothing worked (so, no more suggestions). I need a software solution.

Hi,
Has the item become "not listed" ?
Notice the third check box "show in Notification Center" is unticked which drops it to  the bottom and beyond the line "Not in Notification Center"

  • Why isn't the home button icon the apple logo?

Just wondering if apple made a conscious decision to use a simple rounded square instead of an outline of their apple logo for the icon in the home button on their products.

Nobody on here will know Apple's thinking behind the shape/design of the button, but an even shape is probably better aesthetically

  • Facebook Sharing Button (Notification Center & Safari)

I have a Retina MacBook Pro, with mountain lion 10.8.2, my tweeter sharing button works fine (Notification center and Safari) but Facebook doesn't, I've deleted my Facebook account and created again but it doesn't seem to work. However if I delete my Facebook account and hit the share button it loads a message to add my facebook account.

I know the ans...first install os x mountain lion again above all your installation..then see the build it should be.. (12c60) then..update every thing..but dont install or update..."update for macbook pro and macbook air 2.0 "it is the culprit ...then hide that update..and remember to install offline version of combo and supplement update 10.8.2..ok..as sometimes when ur notification cetre not work then installoffline "combo and supp" updates...ok..REMEMBER NOT TO INSTALL MACBOOK AIR AND MACBOOK PRO 2.0 UPDATE...PLZ...AND USE UR SYSTEM...!! follow me https://www.twitter.com/ankit8083   https://www.facebook.com/ankit8083 ...good luck..DONT CHANGE UR BUILD..AS IF U WILL CHANGE IT THEN UR SHARE BUTTON WILL NOT WORK..IN NEW BUILD..!!And wait for apple to get new build after april 2013...but not download macbook pro and macbook air 2.0 update..which help in graphical improvements and some usb devices...!!

  • No icon in title bar for notification center

I have no icon for Notification Center in my title bar.  System prefs seem to show NC is operational, but no icon...

    Read http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2012/07/the-os-x-mountain-lion-survival-guide/
It may answer your question. NC in Mountain Lion is a bit inconsistent. Hopefully fixes coming soon.

  • Why are Facebook notifications not showing up in Notification Center?

On OS X Mavericks 10.9.3 Facebook account is setup in Internet Accounts preference pane in System Preferences.
Facebook is configured in Notifications preference pane in System Preferences.
The Share Buttons widget is configured in Notifications preference pane in System Preferences.
When I view my Facebook account via my web browser I usually have notifications available, but these notifications are not showing up in Notification Center.
I do receive Calendar, Mail, etc. notifications in Notification Center so I know it works.
I can send posts to Facebook via the Share Buttons widget in Notification Center, but presently I can receive nothing from Facebook..
Anyone know of a solution to this problem?
    Thanks!
P.S. I read in another thread how Facebook can be setup in iMessage, but I don't want to use iMessage if I can get Notification Center to function properly.

I got it to work yesterday. I tried none of the advice from discussions dealing with changing settings, enabling/disabling accounts, terminal commands, etc. All I did was ask a Facebook friend to respond to a post, and I was able to see the notifications in Notification Center.
I know most have their settings configured correctly in System Preferences, but this is how my preferences are configured on OS X Mavericks 10.9.3:
    (1) Internet Accounts preference pane:
There isn't much to configure here. I signed into my Facebook account. I checked or unchecked the Calendar and Contacts selections. It doesn't matter. I left the Description, found in the Details button window, as Facebook, but it doesn't matter, either.
    (2) Notifications preference pane:
Facebook alert style is set to Banners, but Alerts will also work just fine. This setting is crucial because if it's set to None, no alerts will be received. I left Show notifications on lock screen unchecked, but it doesn't matter if I check it or not. And I put a check mark in Show in Notification Center, and the number of Recent Items can be set to whatever available setting desired, mine is set to 20 Recent Items.
    (3) Notifications preference pane:
I placed a check mark on Show share button notifications in Notification Center, which is found when Share Button is selected in the list of notifications like Facebook, Calendar, Mail etc.
Again, I did nothing else, and it just works. As a side note: before I got it to work I called AppleCare and a senior advisor spent considerable time with me trying to find out why it wasn't working. And his last bit of advice was that I should reinstall the OS. He needs retraining because that bit of advice was ill-advised, to say the least.
I simply had no experience with receiving Facebook notifications in Notification Center 'on OS X', and the AppleCare employees had no training in this area, but if Notification Center is part of OS X, and Facebook notifications are part of Notification Center training in this area should be standard, but the AppleCare employees were guessing, not advising, which certainly is not technical support. Hence, my AppleCare dollars were not at work as expected.
So without prior knowledge as to how the specifics of 'Facebook' notifications worked in Notification Center on OS X, my assumption was I would be notified each time someone tagged me, someone liked a comment, post or photo of mine, someone commented on one of my posts, or someone sent me a direct message.
When I asked one of my Facebook friends to help me test it out, the following occurred (I don't remember if I had Safari up and running at this time - Note: I was signed into Facebook via Safari. I say this because AppleCare employees did explain on OS X some applications must be launched in order to received notifications, which in my mind is wasted time and code for Apple developers. Why offer notifications if the application is already launched? Ridiculous, if you ask me. That's what configuring each applications preference to set badge app icons, if it's not already coded by default.):
    (1) I sent a Facebook post via Notification Center using the Facebook Share Button.
    (2) I communicated with one of my Facebook friends by private message via iOS device and asked for a response to the post I sent.
    (3) My Facebook friend responded to my private message, but I don't remember if I received a notification in Notification Center.
    (4) My Facebook friend liked my post, shared my post, and commented on my post. I received two separate notifications in Notification Center on OS X, yet I received notifications on Facebook for all three actions, seen via iOS device. By the way, I wish Notification Center notifications would stay in Notification Center until we manually remove them. If they did stay until we manually remove them I would have time to find out which action of my friend I was received the notification for in Notification Center.
    That's it!

  • How can I make Firefox remember my preferred location for the "home" button?

Since the 5.0 update, I can go into 'options,' click 'toolbar layouts,' and then drag the "home" button icon to my preferred location (back on the left beside the URL line). However, when I close the browser window open a new one, the "home" icon is back in its original and undesirable location. I have tried editing the prefs.js / user.js folders within my profile directory, but I cannot seem to find anything that relates (to my knowledge) to this issue. I am using a theme add-on which is fully compatible with 5.0. I am able to save other preferences such as the location of my tabs (on bottom), so I'm not having an issue with every setting. It's a drag to have to move the mouse way over to the right to go home... other than this, all appears well. Please help! Thank you for your time.

Some sites (like and others) like PayPal, Yahoo, Windows Live and bank sites use ''autocomplete="off"'' to prevent Firefox from saving the name and the password.
If a site uses ''autocomplete="off"'' then look at this article for a bookmarklet to remove that autocomplete attribute.

  • Mountain Lion Notification Center

After Apple removed the Java Applet from Safari Browser, I updated my MAC OS X Mountain Lion through the App Store. Now, after updating Mountain Lion, the share buttons in the Notification Center are not working. I am not pretty sure, whether the problem is due to the removal of JAVA plug-in from the Safari browser through the MAC OS X Update.
Is anybody is experiencing the same problem, then please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Pratik Patel

Hey buddy, I guess you should try downloading and installing this OS X Mountain Lion Update v10.8.2

I'm trying this and will let you know if it works.

  • I used to be able to double click the home button to choose to receive notifications via iPhone speaker instead of the Bluetooth. With ios7, that's gone as well as any obvious way to do it.  I don't wear my Bluetooth on my ear every minute of the day!!!!

I used to be able to choose to receive notifications via iPhone speaker in ios6 by double clicking the home button.  Ios7 took that away and I cannot see how to do it at all.  I don't have my Bluetooth in my ear constantly!!!

If you are getting Siri when you double tap, then your home button must be sticking. Siri comes up when you hold the home button. Try tapping quickly twice. When that happens, the multi-tasking list comes up and you will see the app icon and then a thumbnail, or reduced size view of the app above it. You put your finger on that thumbnail and swipe upwards with your finger.
For that issue, you might want to do a reset of the phone. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone will reboot. This will not affect your data.
To be honest, your novel is a little difficult to read, and I think you put too much information in there, and a lot of it is unnecessary. Be to the point and just add information necessary to understand the issue.

  • Mail icon not appearing in notification center in settings menu.

I am not receiving any email notifications after upgrading my iPhone 4 from 6.0.1 to 7.0.2.
I have checked Settings->Notification Center to see if it is in Include or Do Not Include, however there is no option for Mail anywhere.
It was there before the upgrade.
Emails still come in when I open the Mail app but I don't known when a new one has arrived as there is no notification and the badge does not show a new email.
Do I need to restore and reinstall 7.0.2 or is there something else I am missing?
Thanks for your help in advance.

do a reset by holding the power and home button until the apple logo appears ignoring the slide to power off.open your notification after tthe phone restarts and see if the settings for mail appears.

  • Alert messages from Notification Center hang after using close button

After opening my MacBook in the morning, Notification Center displays the alerts from my Calender (I realy like this new feature!).
    Problem
When I click the Close Button on an Alert Message the Alert Message does not close but stops responding and stays displayed.
The only way to get rid of it is to logout and login to OSX.
Does anyone have the same problem?
I am looking for a solution.
    All suggestions are welcome!
    Thanks,
      Chris

    Hi,
    Uploaded with Skitch!
As you can see the System Preferences > Notification Pane talks about "Alerts" in a general way first
Then it offers options on how the Notifications are displayed.
I was presuming you were talking about the Notifications in the same general way and I was asking which option you were using
Since my first post in this thread I have changes my Mail Notifications to Alerts (It seems to be the one with more issue)
It does hang around until I deal with it
It then send me to Mail but the Incoming mail item(s) is(are) no longer marked  as unread.
This makes it a little difficult to check the generic Inbox rthat has five Accounts set up.
I am not getting a spinning beach Ball and the Alert Style Notification goes away.

  • HT5137 I updated to ios7.0.2, when I double click on home button it brings up an app list but when I hold my finger on an icon it won't show any with a minus sign, is it no longer necessary to close apps?

In ios 7.0.2, when you double click the home button it brings up the icons but won't allow you to show them with minus signs, is it no longer necessary to do this?

It was never necessary except in certain unusual circumstances.

  • My UI is not the same as that shown in the Mozilla website..why? (i.e home button still on left hand side of screen and no bookmark icon)

I was using FF 4 Beta and applied the update ... I noticed that my final version was not the same as shown on the website so I removed the beta setup file and took off all versions of FF cleaned adn restarted my laptop and then reinstalled a clean version of FF 4.. however my final* version is not the same as shown still. Is this right or do I need to do something else :(
Examples of what is different is the home icon remains on the left hand side of the screen next to the back button and I do not have the bookmarks icons which from the website should appear on the right hand side next to the new location of the home button.

Look you can customize it very easily.
Press Alt+V to have the View Menu -> Select Toolbars -> Click on Customize -> Now drag the Home Button to anywhere on the toolbar and pick the Bookmarks Button from the available icons and put it in the toolbar.

I am new to this, could you provide me with a little more detail on how to do this?  Thanks so much!

  • My ipod all of a sudden blacked out and now it only shows the apple icon. When i press the on/off or home button it still remains with the apple icon. I tried plugging it to my lap top and going to i tunes but it says there is an error in the device

I was looking through my pictures and when i tapped to see a specific one my ipod blacked out. Now the screen only shows the apple icon and I cant go anywhere. I tried preshing the on/off and home button but it won't work. I even pressed both at the same time for 10 seconds and still nothing... I connected it to my lap top and went to my itunes account but it tells me that the device that i just plugged in has an error. I already tried plugging it back in several times and it still won't work. I don't know what else to do. I havn't had it for a whole year yet so its still insured to the apple company right? at least thats what I heard

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

On my IPad Words With Friends has frozen. I have double clicked on the home button and identified the WWF icon. When I press and hold or swipe vertically the icon darkens but does not shake or bring up the minus sign. Any suggestions?

    Force close apps
    1. Double tap the home button to bring up the multi-tasking view
    2. Swipe the app's windows upwards to close
    3. The app will fly off the screen
