Home Button - Loud Click.

Please try your home button and see if it clicks too loudly? Compared to my iphone 3gs, it is very loud and hard to press in. Coworkers can hear it.
Ugh.
This is one of those things that could be different on each phone.

It appears they are using the same switch as on the iPad. I don't find it offensive in either case. If you are not happy return the phone. You don't want to keep your wife awake at night as someone suggested on the iPad forums. Frankly, I f rt, in bed louder than my iPad and iPhone home button click, but if it keeps you awake at night, you better return it.,

  • IPod Touch Home Button Loud Click

We have just bought the latest iPod Touch 3rd Gen and an iPhone 3GS.
The iPhone has a very quiet, soft to press, home button.
However, the iPod has a much louder, hard to press, home button which is very distracting and disappointing for a £229 device.
Does anybody else have this issue with iPod Touch?

  • IOS 7.1 Upgrade - home button double click not working most of the time

    Hi,
Not sure, if anyone else had encountered this issue after upgrading to iOS7.1.
I am using iPhone5S 32 GB and it was working fine with home button (double click, mostly used to see & close other applications running in background) till I upgraded to iOS7.1. After iOS7.1 upgrade, most of the time, I am unable to see running applications. After trying for 4-5 times, I managed to see running application
Is there any fix or workaround for this issue?

  • Iphone 5 Phone favorites no longer Home button double-click?

Double-clicking the Home button on the iphone 5 no longer brings up the Phone Favorites.  Is there another shortcut way to do it or is the shortcut gone?

Yes, it most certainly does, which is why I'm here in the first place.
Apparently this is a feature that has been gone for a while, now that I see some older posts.  (I did try searching before posting but came up with nothing!).  Next I need to figure out how to close apps.
Upgraded from iphone 3G so pardon my ignorance of recent and not-so-recent changes...

  • Home Button Making Clicking Sound

My iphone's home button is making a clicking sound when pressed. its not from the speaker of the phone but from the button itself. it works but it bugs me that it started clicking. is this normal? thanks
    Message was edited by: adeleon

If the clicking beings to effect the performance of the button, then you should bring in the iPhone to your nearest Apple Store Genius Bar for a diagnosis. As long as there is no accidental damage, a defective button is covered under your one year warranty and/or your applecare extended coverage. Cosmetic issues do not make the unit eligible for in-warranty replacement.

  • Home button is clicking/sticky

I just got my iPhone 5c a few days ago, and I haven't dropped it. But for some reason the home button started to click a lot, and its sticky. Kind of hard to push down on it. Any ideas why it's happening? Or if there's something I can do about it?

Your device is still covered by warranty. Visit an Authorized Apple Service Provider or Apple Store to get it checked.

  • Home Button keeps clicking

I own a 4th generation iPod Touch and recently my home button decided to go mad.
It goes to the home screen and opens the task bar even if i'm not clicking it.
I try to listen to music and the Voice Control panel comes up.
When I press the button it goes all the way down and when I release it it comes all the way up again, nothing wrong with it.
I've put the assistive touch, but it's of no help.
Plus, it doesn't play music without the headphones anymore...
    What can I do?
I already restored it and nothing happened.

    - If you have iOS 5 and later you can turn on Assistive Touch it add the Home and other buttons to the iPods screen. Settings>General>Accessibility>Assistive Touch
    - If not under warranty Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for:
Apple - Support - iPod - Repair pricing
You can do it an an Apple store by:
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
or sent it in to Apple. See:
Apple - Support - iPod - Service FAQ
    - There are third-party places like the following that will repair the Home button. Google for more.
iPhone Repair, Service & Parts: iPod Touch, iPad, MacBook Pro Screens
    Also for no speaker:
    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a hardware problem which maybe more that Home button.

  • Home Button "clicking"

I have an Iphone 5 and the home button keeps "clicking".  It doesn't get stuck, but it sounds like something sticky got in there and when you press the button, it clicks (and I haven't spilled anything in it or used it while eating anything sticky)?!?!?!  Anyone else having/had this problem?  If so, what did you do to fix it?
    Thanks!

Take it to an apple store, if you do not have one in your area, call 1.800.MY.APPLE and have them set up a repair of the phone, as long as your still under warranty you will not be charged

  • Top section of Home Button started sticking...

If I press down on the bottom of the Home Button it clicks fine, but when I press the center or top the button sticks down for a good 3+ seconds, then pops back out with a loud 'click'.
Any suggestions on a home remedy? Isn't an Apple Store within 2000KM of my location, and don't wanna lose my phone for weeks while Apple repairs. Any chance there is something I can do? I cannot see how it would be liquid damage, I clean the phone 3 times a day and it has never been near liquid except whatever was on the InvisiShield I had Futureshop put on it, but from what I can see of the exploded view of the phone hardware, the button itself is enclosed in rubber/plastic inside so no dust/liquid would be able to get in there anyways...

No home remedy as opening the iPhone yourself or via a 3rd party voids the warranty.
If you are in the U.S., it does not take weeks when calling AppleCare. Your iPhone won't be repaired, it will be exchanged under warranty. If AppleCare determines that your iPhone will be exchanged under warranty, the exchange will be shipped to your home or office - your choice, but someone needs to be available to sign for the delivery. AppleCare will charge $29 for a next business day delivery which is waived if you have purchased the AppleCare extended warranty. You will need to provide a credit card to ensure your iPhone is returned within 10 days after the exchange is received. You use the same box with the return shipping label located below the shipping label to you. A small paperclip is included to remove the SIM card from your iPhone and for inserting the SIM card in the exchange along with tape to seal the box. When ready to be picked up, you call the number for the carrier which is included in the box.

  • Changing home button from voice control

How do you change the home button setting not to go to voice control if you keep your finger on it?
    Thanks

In the previous iPhone OS, you had an option to change what the Home button double-click would do. That is no longer available in OS 4. In all versions with voice control, it is activated by pressing and holding the Home button.

  • IOS 8 versus the Home Button

Starting day one using IOS8, I have had issues with the home button.  Whenever I click "once" it pops up the app switcher.  It is random, and frequent and annoying.  After reboot it is "ok", but after use of the phone over a few hours, the apps begin to not close when the home button is clicked.  The problem is progressive in nature and the phone becomes difficult to operate when the only option is to switch apps or scrolls left to the home screen and select an app.
    Phone Info:
    IPhone 5, purchased 2012
Upgraded to IOS 8 on go live day (dont yell at me....)
Have taken all updates and currently on version 8.0.2.
Have taken care of the phone very well, without any functional issues since purchase.
What I have done to "fix" the problem:
    1. Soft-shutdown-reboot normally
Result:  Fixes the problem for a few app openings.  After use for a few hours, the problem occurs again.
    2. Hard-shutdown-reboot
Result: Longer period of time before the issue returns.  After apps are used throughout the day, will eventually become more frequent.
    3. "Reset Trick" = (Open native ios app and hold home button until app crashes)
Result: Small fix time.  Returns within an hour of use.
    4. Set accessibility>home button click speed to slow or slowest
         Result:  No change
    Other symptoms:
    1. Apps are sluggish to open.  Clicking home button does not bring up the lock screen quickly.  Slow to load once issue has begun.
    2. Banners are slow to go away or stick until acted upon.
    3. IOS apps (native and otherwise) are slow to open in comparison to IOS7.
    Possible causes:
    1. Memory Leak of one or more apps
    2. App switching not allowing for graceful memory allocation of apps
    3. Sensitivity of button press set too high.
    4. Other??
    Any other ideas are welcome.
    TIA
    Jennifer

My iphone home button stopped working and the phone started getting hot. The camera also fogged up. What do I do?

I'm guessing it's a hardware problem. Your best option is to go to an Apple Store as soon as you can to try and sort this all out. While you're waiting to go visit an Apple Store, however, I'd imagine you still want to use your phone. To circumvent your hardware button problems, try enabling Assistive Touch by going to Settings>General>Accesibility>Assistive Touch. You'll see a small box appear on your screen. Tapping it will bring up several options for you to choose from, like the home button. Clicking the "Device" option will give you several options for controlling your phone that you would normally use hardware buttons for (i.e. volume, lock your phone, etc.) Hope this helps and good luck!

  • Customize Home Button in iStore profile page

    Hi All,
When we navigate to iStore home page --> Profile --> Click here if you want to change password
In this page there is a home button. On the click of the same it takes to the responsibility screen wherein it shows the responsibility assigned to that iStore user. But we want to go to the iStore home page instead.
We found that the buttons in the change password screen is coded in GlobalButtsLOV.uix
But we couldn't find which is the property file in which the URL specified in GlobalButtsLOV.uix is actually coded.
In GlobalButtsLOV.uix it is specified as data:destination="homeURL@globalButtons" but which is the property file in which
    this homeURL@globalButtons will be coded.
    Thanks,
    Sathish

    Sathish,
From my experience of self service applications, i have seen that the back destination is setup while a page forward is processed. which means when the change pwd page is being called, the calling page stores back destination in a transient variable.
You would want to check the controller of this page (pardon me if its JSP) and see if the code that runs when home button is clicked. If its retriving back destination, you could change the back link there to istore homepage.
