Home Button not working? Not responding, Home Button not working? Not responding

I've never dropped my iphone 4 and I always have it on me, but for the past month the home button wouldn't respond, is there a way to fix this? BTW I've restored, and turned it on and offstill doesn't respond, I know i can use the Assistive touch button from the recent update, but I want to enter DFU mode using the Sleep button and the home button.

Some have stated that vacuuming it helped, or using the air-compresser. If nothing fixed and you restored your phone and not fixed, then take it to the apple store, make sure you set up an appointment before you go. Explain the situation and they will likely to replace it.
I had this similar issue, where if I press the home button once, it acts as if I pushed it twice and brings up the Recently Used tray. Or it hasn't responded and didn't close, and would have to push it again. Same when I click it twice. It acts as if I only pushed it once and closes the app. So I took it to the genius about 4 weeks ago, explained them what is wrong with my phone. He just simply replaced the phone for me.

  • Home button no longer working, screen not responding half the time, very slow functioning and random crashing?? What is going on?

I got my IPhone 4 (GSM) a couple of years back, and had never had any trouble with it. As soon as the new updates came out (this past summer), the phone has been glitching out (randomly screen going black, or closing an app by itself, super slow functioning, screen not responding to touch and home button not working anymore).
Help anyone? Makes no sense why it would just stop working.. ??

it depends. i had an iPhone 3GS that was not good in the first place, but functionable. when i got iOS6 it just acted weird like yours. Have you ever dropped your phone or anything? Or maybe you should try closing your apps. For the home button. Go to Settings:General:Accsessibility:Scroll down;Assistive Touch: On. That part is hard to explain but self explanatory,
    i hope this helps!

My iphone's screen goes black and it behaves like that it is switched off.No switches work and the power button also does not respond. The ringtone do not also respond. The only way to switch on the phone is to press  home button and  power button together.

Pressing the Home button and the sleep/wake or on/off button together until you see the Apple logo and then release is called a reset.
If no change after a reset, the next step is restoring your iPhone.

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer

  • HT201412 My iphone's home button is not responding when I press it.  I sometimes have to press it several times before it works or it just doesn't work at all.  Any advise?

My iphone's home button doesn't always work.  I sometimes have to press it several times to get to my home screen.  Many times this doesn't work and I just give up.  It is happening more frequently now, almost daily and usually lasts all day when it's having a bad day.  I've tried calibrating it and I've also tried a phone reset; neither helped.  Any suggestions?

Re-Calibrate it. Press the power button until the slide to turn off shows. DO NOT TURN IT OFF. Leave it on the slide to unlock screen and press the home button for about 30 seconds until the slide to turn off screen leaves.

I tried updating my iPod, and ever since it has not worked at all. If I hold in the lock & home button, it will tell me to plug it into iTunes. Once I do that, it says it will restore but every time, restoring it fails. My iPod is not working at all, and I really have no idea what to do. It is just a black screen, and occasionally the white apple will appear as if it were turning on, but it won't turn on. I just need some suggestions on what to do!
