Home button response is slow at times!

I recently purchased iphone 4 in Chennai, India and I love it. But recently upgraded to ios5 as well but I am experiencing home button is very slow in responding at times. What to do?

Speedtest.net is all you should really need.
You can use this and check the performance drop to see where you're losing all the throughput.
Check with just the modem firstly, then keep expanding from there and monitor progress.

The iPad cover lock is for when you use a cover with magnets in it to lock and unlock the iPad when you close the cover or open it. Try running a refrigerator magnet along the sides of the iPad and see if that trips the iPad Cover Lock back into the settings.
That is not the same thing as the iPad Auto Lock setting which allows you to set an allotted time before the iPad goes to sleep.
You can try resetting all settings to see if the Auto Lock feature retinrs to the iPad.
Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. This can be a little time consuming re-entering all of the device settings again.

Home button does not respond many times

From awhile the home button doesn't work properly. I have reinstall the iphone, upgrade to the latest version and It doesnt get fixed. Suddenly you have to pres 10 times to make it works. Some times it work fine but some times it doesn't. Can someone help me?

How else can I activate Siri, without having to hold-down the Home button for 1 full second? You see, I can't hold down the Home button for any length of time at all, not even one second. It's because I'm handicapped with a muscle weakness disease.

The only way I can use the home button is by giving it a firm tap, which my thumb just kind of bounces off the home button. I just don't have enough muscle strength to hold the button, I can only tap it. So I need a different way to turn on Siri, that doesn't require me to hold down any buttons. Cause if I can't even activate Siri, what's the point in me even keeping my iPhone 4S. Please Help.

basically you use a lightweight touch on the screen to access the Home button. Holding it down to access Siri might work but might not, according to the post.

Use these steps to determine if your iPhone hardware is working properly:
The Home button isn't working
Put the iPhone to sleep.
Wait a couple of seconds.
Press the Home button.
iPhone should wake up.
If iPhone does not wake up, then iPhone should be serviced.

Home Button - Responsive Issues

Hi folks,
Over the last few weeks I've been having a problem with the Home button. It almost seems to me like the phone is "busy" and unresponsive, as when pressing the home button nothing happens. Then a few seconds later I can press again and it reacts.
The phone can be fine for days, and then it suddenly starts happening again. A reset doesn't seem to help.
Is this a known firmware issue, or more likely to be a hardware failure?

Please help. My ipone 4 is just out of warranty. was working fine with 4.33. once upgraded to ios 5 . it slowed to 4-5 secs. I did a reset and restore it becomes worse.
Now phone is alomost useless , kind of disappointing coming from an expensive apple phone. So is it hardware or software issues ??

At this point, it's hard to say, but I'm not inclined to think hardware.
Have you tried a SMC reset?

Have you verified the disk and repaired if necessary?
Have you tried resetting the PRAM?

You might also try the steps in this article:

My recollection--which may or may not be right--is that repairing the disk may cure the spotlighting problem. The other steps I mentioned are just general things that are often done when troubleshooting.
Try repairing the hard drive, and post back if that doesn't cure the problem.

If it never worked after the screen replacement then it would appear that you have a hardware problem either caused by the repair or the problem that lead to the screen replacement.

4s slow home button

My home button reacts VERY slow on my brand new iPhone 4S. Is anyone else having this issue? I'm already on my second 4S and it's my first Apple product

Hey, I'm having a similar issue with a slow home button response (while waking up the unit and closing apps). It's just a slight delay, but still annoying. It's my second unit too - first one kept rebooting on its own. I've restored twice, but this doesn't seem to have improved the home button speed. Any other suggestions?

I just bought my ipod touch a week ago and now the "home" button is very slow to bring me to the home screen when it is pressed or it does not work at all. Has this happened to anybody else before, any ideas or suggestions?

Welcome to Apple Discussions. Most iPod touch anomalies can be corrected by doing the three R's - Restart, Reset, Restore. I would do these steps first before escalating this to taking it back for replacement or repair. Try the suggestions in this article:

Home button not always working

does anyone else have the same problem where there home button is intermitent.
Some times it works first time, other time a double tap won even bring up shortcut menu.
press hard, no response, press light no response, next time pick up phone its ok.
Anyone got any ideas?
